Generally, I like this establishment. As I travel between Manchester and Liverpool often, it's a nice place to stay for the one off overnight. I find the place very comfortable, what you would expect from a traditional hotel. It's quiet, kind of like a hidden gem.
The rooms can be a bit hit or miss, and vary from 4 star hotel quality to 2 star. I appreciate that this happens with older hotels, but some of the rooms are in desparate need of refurbishment. My previous stays on the fifth floor, lovely rooms. This past stay on the first floor, like being in a hostel. The room was quite water damaged, leaky pipes in the (albeit spacious) toilet; I could hear people in the room left and the room above - very creaky, old floors. In all, I do like this hotel, it's just that some of the rooms need some attention.
How the room didnt match the photos on booking, booked a double bedroom and got put in a family room
Everything- great location and facilities
The location was great walking distance to everywhere. But out of town enough to be quiet.
It was really outdated. The curtains were really dusty. The paint was peeling off the bathroom radiator and the tiles on the bathroom floor were all cracked. It just needed a little of tlc as it looked run down.
The second room was better. Also the second member of staff was very helpful.
The first room we were given was dirty and cramped. I had to complain and we did get moved. The first receptionist we saw was very abrupt and rude but the second one was very helpful.
