Pros: It was clean
Cons: The hotel was very basic. We had stayed in a Thon hotel for two nights prior and this was much nicer. Breakfast had more choice and tv had more channels. The swimming pool is on a different floor to changing rooms so had to walk in a towel down some stairs. Outside lift was not working which my daughter wanted to use. Then found out lift was working but not for hotel guests.
Excellent10.0
Everything location , breakfast room and most of all easy access to all places.
Excellent10.0
Pros: Arrived late, got bags and extra bed delivered. Breakfast room service - awesome meal! Great location
Cons: Strange drunk or druggie people outside hotel between hotel and train station. More than other EU capitols, all begging for money.
Excellent8.8
Pros: Great location right next to the rail station. Very nice hotel and room. Excellent breakfast.
Cons: No power plugs near the bed. Bed only had bedding for 1 person, even through we specified 2 at reservation and check-in.
Excellent8.2
Pros: Good food Location Great view Fast service...minus the bar.
Cons: Bathrooms a bit dated. Wifi was spotty. Business center computers so old they weren't comparable with any up-to-date programs, so I was not able to conduct business as I wished.
Excellent10.0
Pros: Close proximity to train station and airport Right in the center city
Cons: very busy lobby and breakfast area
Excellent9.7
Pros: Place is amazing, centrally and around nice view of biggest side Oslo.
Cons: Swimming pool only for adult or kids who can swim. They don’t have any protection for children who can’t swim. Was sad for my daughter, because we choose this hotel for swimming pool.
Excellent9.7
Pros: We usually book better hotels which the plaza is. But the one advantage for this hotel is location. It is within 500 yards of the main train and bus terminal and a short walking distance to the heart of Oslo and the City Sentrum.
Excellent8.2
Pros: Great design and amenities, helpful staff (especially front desk and restaurant), amazing food and taste of Norway in restaurant. Good leisure facilities. Surprise upgrade to a business room for being a return traveller. Fantastic location.
Cons: Housekeeping in the room. Found a little brown "surprise" in the toilet when first arrived and spotted some black residue coming off of the plug in the bath
This family-friendly Oslo hotel is located in the shopping district, just steps away from Cinemateket and Oslo Cathedral (Domkirke). Mini Bottle Gallery and Norwegian Customs Museum are also within 5 minutes. Dronningens Gate Tram Station is only a 2-minute walk and Jernbanetorget T-Station is 4 minutes.

Pros: Chill, clean, location. Would stay again.
Cons: WiFi works in some areas.
Okay5.3
Pros: Great location, within 2 blocks of central station downtown Hotel is 100% computerized- you check in and out on a terminal Very easy and efficient.
Cons: The hotel rooms are very small, like staying on a cruise ship, economy class. The rooms are very spartan with a small beds, a desk, a chair and small bathroom. Otherwise, they did provide a good wifi signal. If you don't mind clean and spartan, this hotel would be great when in Oslo.
Excellent10.0
Pros: Location and price were right
Excellent9.0
Pros: proximity to the train station room was spacious enough
Cons: No kleenex
Excellent10.0
Pros: Great location to all in Oslo. Bathroom and room were great for just me, didn’t spend a lot of time in the room so why pay more for a bigger room that you don’t spend time in?
Cons: Was a bit noisy due to some exterior construction on the building next door but that’s nothing that can be controlled by the hotel.

Pros: Stig the Receptionist at front desk who tried to rectify the problems with our rooms
Cons: My wife and I arrived on the 17th August 2015, and on attempting to check-in we were told the "computer system" was not working and therefore we we not able to check in. We were told to either wait (they could not provide an estimate on how long it would take). After a 15-min wait we were checked in "manually". As an American Carlson member, I presented my Club Carlson Gold card, but it wasn't accepted because my trip was booked through Kayak! Nevertheless after a short delay we were in our room. Immediately we noticed that the carpet in the room was dirty, and there were 2-single beds (as opposed to a double as we booked) Credit to the front desk staff who promptly reassigned us to a "newly refurbished" room. The room was a marked improvement over the last, and we happily settled in; unpacking our suitcases and preparing for an afternoon of sightseeing. On return in the evening, we prepared for the night and around 20:00 we tried to lock the door. The door lock did not work. A call to the front desk and a couple of minutes later someone from maintenance was at our door. I explained that the door wouldn't lock from the inside and he insisted that the lock was working. I was a bit taken back by his curt response, but nevertheless invited him to try. What followed next had me flabbergasted! The maintenance employee closed the door, and using his body weight proceeded to to yank on the door handle until he could engage the lock. Curtly he replied, "There it is locked". I attempted to unlock door by turning the lock itself and when I couldn't he demonstrated how to unlock the door. Standing on his toes and again using all his body weight he pressed down on the door handle until the lock disengaged. Again the curt response, "There it is unlocked". I couldn't believe it! Visibility annoyed at this point, when I pointed out that locking the door in such a manner would be a fire hazard (not to mention my wife will never be able to unlock the door if I locked it), he suggested that I actually didn't need to lock the door as no one from the outside could get in without a key. In response I stated that any member of staff could enter if the door was unlocked, to which he acknowledged was true and said I could either call the front desk to arrange a new room, lock the door as he demonstrated, or leave the door unlocked; but there was nothing he could do to fix the lock. Another call to the front desk and we were offered a room on the 20th floor. So after repacking we moved to our 3-room for the day. From then on the only issues we faced were with our room keys. Every time we left our room, the room key would not let us back in. So we had to make our way to the front desk where they would make a new key. Every time without fail!

Pros: We don't know what we would have liked because our reservation was cancelled on the morning of our flight to Oslo because of a hotel workers strike.
Cons: Obviously, we didn't like the need to find another hotel at the very last minute.
Excellent10.0
Pros: The staff was excellent - they helped me recover my kindle when I accidentally left it on the airport shuttle. They also helped me with directions and provided assistance in finding my way around Oslo. The breakfast buffet was very good as well.
Cons: Room temperature was a bit warm for my taste - the ac was apparently not on yet (early spring), so I could not make the room cooler.
Excellent9.1
Pros: King-sized bed, which was hard to find in Oslo, or Europe for that matter. Comfortable, quiet room. Helpful staff. Great breakfast.
Cons: Carpet next to bed needed cleaning, and our daughters' shower did not drain. reported both.
Excellent8.2
Pros: Breakfast buffet was nice, good location
Cons: Didn't really have air conditioning -- our room was really hot which was disruptive

Pros: Location is great next to train train. Buffet breakfast is excellent. If you have early train connection than this is the number one choice.
Cons: No airconditioning switch you have to ask staff to change the temperature in the room and they will change it for you. Airconditioning is there just no controls.

Pros: Terrific value in Oslo. Walking distance to Munch museum (very close), central station, as well as downtown and harborfront area. Good, affordable (for Oslo) restaurants nearby. Hotel's extensive breakfast was much appreciated given high prices for food in Oslo. Taxi stand right out front and very close tram service was extremely convenient. Our room was plain, clean, and provided everything we needed. We were surprised by how quiet the room was, even being right across from the elevator. I would definitely stay at the Anker again in the future.
Excellent8.0
Pros: Breakfast
Okay4.0
Pros: The staff was helpful.
Cons: The rooms were very dated. The carpeting was worn and not vacuumed every day. The bathrooms were manageable if there were more towels. I don’t expect Air-Con, but the windows only open three inches. Hard to get air-flow in the unusual heat.
Excellent8.2
Pros: Breakfast selection good. Good value for.money
Okay4.0
Pros: the staff are friendly, the rooms are clean
Cons: It was our first trip and first stop in Norway in our life, our expierence with parking by Anker Hotel was absolutely terrible and we will not recommend this place to anyone else we care and will never visit this hotel again. Ankel hotel has a parking place BELONGS to a private parking company. But on the entrance of the parking it's written clearly: Q-Park Anker Hotel. The parking lot welcomed us with a fine of 80 euro, while we were trying to pay the parking fee in the hotel, in about 10 minues before we returned to the hotel. Anker Hotel claimed they are seperated with the parking lot and asked us to complain to the parking company. How can a hotel list its name on the parking place without being responsible for the parking management? We have to pay this extra 80 euro for the 10 mins absence while Anker Hotel claims nothing to do with it. Therefore we regret our stay there and will never come back again.
Good7.4
Pros: Very kind staff and great location next to the coolest neighborhood in Oslo, let us check in way early after arriving at 7am from the train, and only a 10-15 minute walk from train station.
Cons: Very basic feel, nothing romantic about it, kind of like a school dorm.

Pros: Clean, friendly staff, great WiFi, perfect location across from train station and main tourist road (Karl Johan Gate), close to many tourist attractions, room has a minimalist desk and chair for laptop/writing/books, etc. Was satisfied with my stay - being next to the train station and main subway station is perfect for getting in and out of Oslo as well as exploring the city by public transportation (and walking everywhere by foot is easy, too).
Cons: In less expensive cities could get more for your money (but Oslo is very expensive in general). Rooms are small but not too small for those just wanting a place to sleep. Very few amenities (e.g. no daily room service except for a fee, no breakfast, etc.).
Excellent8.0
+: Very convenient location, cool atmosphere, nice staff -: 2 nights stay, my room has not been cleaned in the meantime

Pros: Nothing
Cons: We arrived after being on the road for 10 hours with a confirmed reservation only to be told at 11:45pm that they had made a mistake and there weren't any rooms available for us. After charging full price to my AMEX, they never made an attempt to contact me via email or phone and tried to repeat that they would pay for a taxi to and from the other hotel property they had transferred the reservation to without my consent. I go online and see that that hotel was charging half the rate of the Vulcan. Frustrating and highly disappointed by the whole ordeal. Cherry on top: when we got to the other Scandic 20 min away, we were greeted by a bathroom what wasn't cleaned and there weren't house keeping staff around until morning. Wouldn't recommend such an unprofessional chain if you have a choice.

Pros: The location was great
Cons: The WiFi didn’t work and there was a poorly communicated fire alarm at 2am

Pros: Very clean and new. The staff was very helpful. The terrace was a great place to hang out and plan the day and in the evening, have a beer. Very good breakfast.
Cons: No coin laundry nearby. Be aware that this is a cashless hotel. That's not a bad thing, just don't plan to use cash for anything. The single room is tiny. Bed, restroom, entrance, area to step off bed--each make up a quarter of the room. The sink is too small to wash a shirt in. Don't plan to hand wash anything.

Pros: The hotel is in the train station so it is extremely convenient. Go down two escalators and when you find the "hall of restaurants " walk to the end by Bella Italian and the hotel check in is right there . It takes a couple of minutes to find the entrance but so worth it. Staff was very friendly.
Cons: Nothing
Good7.4
Pros: The fact that te hotel is located in the train terminal , it's very convenient for people who are arriving by train. The room however is extrmely small. My husband and I had trouble finding the space we need to set up our luggage. Similar to a couple of other hotels we stayed in other cities in Norway, there's no air conditioner and only 2 towels were provided. If you have long hair or like to take more than one shower a day, it may be a hassle. The hotel would be good for solo traveler.
Cons: Location
Good6.5
Pros: The Bathroomdesign
Cons: The breakfast restaurant was much too small and has a bad floorplan-design. The buffé is located in the hallway towards the restaurant, therefore it is very bad organized and you get quickly annoyed by the other guests.
Excellent10.0

Pros: Amazing breakfast buffet
Cons: Rooms a little outdated
Excellent9.7
Pros: Nice location in the middle of town. Didn't have any problems during my stay. Hotel room is basic but clean. The breakfast selection is huge, and I think typical for most Scandic properties.
Excellent9.1
Pros: Hotel is clean, breakfast is outstanding, good bedding
Cons: Some staff members are helpful, and some are not
Excellent10.0
Pros: The rooms were well appointed and the staff was top notch. Scandic's location in Oslo was great, minutes walk from the heart of the city.

Pros: Location was close to the city centre (10-minute walk to the station) and the price for a room is dirt cheap! The bed was also very comfortable, the room had all the basic supplies you needed, including an oven. When I do return to Norway again, I'll definitely be back at the Anker Hostel!
Cons: There is a roof-top viewing area that we have access to from 9am to 8pm was locked throughout the day, meaning I never got a chance to enjoy the views from the hostel roof. Noise isolation wasn't great, you could hear the water pipes in use throughout the building.

Pros: Service was top notch and staff were very friendly and helpful
Good7.1
Pros: Very conveniently located to the pedestrian zone, palace, and waterfront. Except for check in, all of our interactions with the staff were pleasant. Food left outside rooms every morning was convenient.
Cons: We arrived after 11pm, and the man who checked us in was hostile and rude. The shower was setup in the corner of the bathroom with only a curtain, so water got everywhere. Though parking was listed as an amenity, they don't have parking or any association with local lots. We were directed to a nearby public lot. Breakfast consisted of a very thin, bland ham and cheese sandwich on regular, sliced wheat bread and a tiny, watered down juice.
Good7.7
Pros: We used the hotel as a one night stopover prior to flying out of Oslo. Convenient location - It's on the same block as the tube. It's also walking distance to various tourist sights. Very polite staff and free coffee were also nice.
Cons: A little dingy - but acceptable.
Okay5.4
Pros: staff was good
Cons: this is a budget hotel, may be half a step above a hostel. place is run down and room was stripped-to-the-bones basic. it looked clean, though. i checked in, saw the room and moved to a different hotel immediately
Okay5.1
Pros: close to the downtown
Cons: the big surprise was the breakfast, a oneslice ham sandwich with a strange drink maybe orange
Excellent8.0
Pros: I liked the low price and the location. The staff were nice and their internet was efficient. I felt safe.
Cons: There were children playing soccer in the hallways until late at night. They were loud but that's not really the hotel's fault. You have to have a different password for each device that you connect to WIFI which was different.
