What are the pros of staying at Hôtel du Midi Paris Gare de Lyon?
Good looking and cozy rooms, kind staff, beds were cleaned often. Location was very convenient to Metro lines and Gare du Lyon station. Very friendly and helpful receptionist. Very comfortable bed. Very convenient for Gare de Lyon. Friendly staff, clean room, highly recommend this hotel. Great location in lovely old building. The man working at the front desk went above the call of duty in his kindness and helpfulness when I arrived very late at night after having luggage issues at the airport. Very very basic but close to Gare du Lyon. Perfect location for Gare du Lyon. Quirky building and nice design. Hotel very nice, in a strategic position. The staff was very nice, usable and always ready to have a chat or laugh! The room was clean, comfortable and with all we needed! The young gentlemen at the reception were very friendly and eager. The staff were amazing and helpful, especially Mr Geoffroy. The hotel is literally two blocks from Gare de Lyon which makes train and bus access convenient. Recently remodeled and centrally located. Good for Gare de Lyon. Basic but clean and comfortable. Very friendly and helpful staff.
What are the cons of staying at Hôtel du Midi Paris Gare de Lyon?
It’s a very small room with even very small bathroom. Barely can go into the shower when the door is shut. Walk up to 3rd floor. No air con. Very noisy at night. We were given a small room on the Top floor and it was unfit for sleeping in due to the hot conditions. While I understand the temperature may have been "exceptional", the lack of anything cooling in the room is ridiculous. The floor, bed, roof all were extremely hot and while we were suffering from heat exhaustion, we could not return to the room to rest due to the heat. At a minimum the room should have Fans installed, one weeks rent of a single room would pay for Fans for the whole floor! Room a bit small but this typical for Parisian hotels of this kind. Everything. Maybe a fan in the room(?) No lift. No A/C. Truly tiny room. This is budget lodging, and overall a nice stay, but I would have liked a little bit more amenities - mainly coffee in the room (even if just packets of instant coffee and a hot water boiler), and nicer soap. Single room very small. No drink making facility. Would be nice for more twin bed option. The shower was a little small. Our room looked nothing like the photos on the website. Perhaps if they put photos of the room at each price point we would have managed our expectations accordingly. Our room was multicoloured, toilet was old and had a faint sewage smell. Also wifi was very slow. 3 flights of stairs to get to room with large bags was exhausting but I guess that s the experience of living in an older hotel. However from the photos I thought at least the hotel rooms would be remodelled but sadly it was misrepresented once again. No air conditioning and they should mention on the advert, the sink wasn’t working properly, was to expensive for the type of hotel, the only good part was the staff very friendly but definitely doesn’t worth your money, should be cheaper. No elevator - had to lug my luggage up the stairs. The rooms do not correspond in any way to the advertised pictures! It is quite appropriate to speak of fraud here. The condition of the room is a disaster for this price level. The room door cannot be opened completely, the sockets fall out of the wall. The bathroom is tiny and there was a cabinet in front of the toilet, so you could only sit across the toilet (I've never seen anything like it). There are only two towels and no soap, shower gel or such. The ventilation system in the bathroom is moldy. The shower has no shower curtain, so you have to be very careful when showering so as not to flood the whole bathroom. After complaining, we were given another room in the same category, which was basically as bad as the previous one. Good concept but poor execution in vision of hotel. From pictures, it looks cute but in reality, when you’re there, it’s a bit dirty and warn out. The room advertised as superior in pictures is big and spacious, however, there are many “versions” of superior in the hotel and unfortunately we had a terribly small room. I was able to compare as we got two rooms and other was larger, as advertised. But the larger room was above the pizza store next door whose neon light sign was on until midnight. When I spoke to front desk about it, while super nice, was told to write an email to find a solution…. With the proximity and convenience of being near to the train station, comes noise which was expected but suspect in the summer it would be quite bad with people out and windows needing to be open for circulation. Didn’t have breakfast at the hotel, but cute set up but there are many Boulangeries nearby. Paying the extra 30-50 euros/night at nearby hotel may be worth it depending on what you value. The hotel does not have an elevator. My room was on the 3rd floor and it was very difficult to go up and down every time. The room didn't have electrical outlets close to the bed, table, or bathroom. It was not possible to use electrical devices conveniently. There was no phone in the room for wake-up calls. There was neither a coffee maker nor coffee or tea in the room. You could get a cup of coffee for 2 Euros or a cup of tea for 3 Euros on the 1st floor. Overall, it was the worst hotel I ever stayed in while in Paris. Very poor quality for the price!

What are the positive aspects of the hotel's location?
The location was perfect because had early train to catch in Gare de Lyon. Location was very convenient to Metro lines and Gare du Lyon station. So close to Gare de Lyon! The reception was very friendly and helpful! Perfect location for Gare du Lyon. Location was exceptional! Staff was amazing! New look was very up to date and comfortable! Great location, multiple combinations with all means of transport, pretty close to the centre and the Seine. Location. Location. Location. Friendly check-in staff. The entry was really beautiful. The staff was careful and addressed all of our requests. It was close to the place where we had to take our train. Our second room was great. Hotel very nice, in a strategic position. The staff was very nice, usable and always ready to have a chat or laugh! The room was clean, comfortable and with all we needed! The young gentlemen at the reception were very friendly and eager. What are the concerns about the hotel's location?
Noisy location but that's Paris. Small room. Not perfectly clean. Breakfast was not what we expected for that value. Air conditioning and lift would have made an amazing deal! The room missed a storage area (only 2 hooks). And an autonomous entrance along the night. Necessity to ring the night warden. If you’re travelling when it’s hot, there are no fans or air conditioning. The window backs onto other apartments so it gets warm. No AC. No elevator. It is quit expensive. I paid €150 for a night and was given a room that was the size of a dollhouse. Very uncomfortable toilet and shower facilities. No elevator - had to lug my luggage up the stairs. The hotel does not have an elevator. My room was on the 3rd floor and it was very difficult to go up and down every time. The room didn't have electrical outlets close to the bed, table, or bathroom.
