6.3 Good
Pros: Beautiful surroundings. Very peaceful. Nice rooms.
Cons: The restaurant is not so good. The food is tasteless and to expensive compared to the standard of the served meals.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accomodation, the pool, the food, the beach...everything was perfect!
7.0 Good
Pros: Location - quiet and restful, proximity to the beach. Not too busy or crowded. Decent sized pool - that bubbles Jacuzzi style between 5-6pm for that gentle back massage. You can only swim at high tide and even then, the water is shallow. At low tide, the reef is about 1.5km away. The beach is covered with seaweed. There is some litter – I suspect mostly washed in with the tide. Beware of dead sea urchins on the beach have a similar colour to sand and easily missed - so watch your step if barefoot. My room was clean with access to a large veranda. Beds were provided with mosquito nets. I found the bed uncomfortable – but my partner didn’t. The bathroom with 2 sinks is a good size with a large walk-in shower and plenty of very hot water and good air conditioning. Towels replaced daily if you want this. Rooms were cleaned daily and all sorts of exotic creations with towels were made for the beds and covered with petals – all very nice if that’s your thing. The bedroom was sprayed with a mosquito repellent at 8pm. There is no internet or TV in the bedroom. The Wi-Fi internet is only available in the dining hall, the router just above the reception-side of the bar. However, it delivers a feeble 1mbps to share among all guests. The staff were generally friendly and helpful.
Cons: The crab salad had the tiniest flakes of tinned (I asked) white crab meat and absolutely no crab flavour. The mango ice cream had no mango flavour. The chef’s special cheesecake was bland and had NO flavour. Sometimes the fruit at breakfast was overripe (Mango) and on the turn and sometimes underripe (Pineapple). On a couple of occasions, they ran out of brown bread at breakfast because they had no flour. The bread really was quite awful. On another, they allegedly ran out of Kilimanjaro breakfast tea, until I complained to Marco (I think Deputy Manager from Italy) who found some. The toaster and kettle were plugged into the same extension socket – but they couldn’t be at the same time or a fuse would blow. This really needs to be fixed and there should not be this issue in a properly run hotel. The fish cakes didn’t taste fishy. The Tuna Carpaccio was slimy. The burger in the fish burger didn’t taste of fish and had a minced beef texture. My Caesar salad had no croutons - but did on the menu. Food often didn’t resemble that described on menu. I ordered a dish described as having ginger in it, there was no ginger. I asked the waiter to query this with the chef to be told they had run out of ginger so replaced it with pineapple. The chef should have briefed the waiters so they in turn could advise diners of amendments to the advertised menu. Basic stuff. There didn’t seem to be anyone really managing. The menu changes once a week. Given it’s supposed to be a restful, barefoot and away-from-it-all resort, I found it bizarre, annoying and unnecessary to have music playing at EVERY meal. It was mostly 1980’s music Phil Collins, L Ritchie, etc on an incessant loop. I'm not complaining about the music itself, just the timing and repetition. Just play the music in the evening only - and vary it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely stunning! Great hotel, nice beach, so friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms and amazing pool! Breakfast was great and also food in restaurant was very tasty. Highly reccommended! :)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Not much to walk to from this hotel. They do organize tours though, and they were good.
Cons: More choices for food. It is on a long strip of resorts, no town.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely property otherwise.
Cons: Very slow service

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was huge and catered for all tastes. Everyday there was an "extra" on the plate, and the service was friendly and competent. All in all, I was most impressed by the cleanliness and the atmosphere of Seasons Lodge. The food was probably the best I have had in Zanzibar! Compliments and thanks to all the Staff and special thanks to Chris, the Manager!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The bungalows with sea view, literally from the bed were dreamy! The pool and beach areas were big enough to have your own quiet space, multiple seating and bed areas. The food was delicious, we chose half board but ended up ordering lunch everyday as it was so tasty! The cocktails were fresh and yummy. The staff were lovely and friendly, Grey and Milik in particular were great hosts. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone, we thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day stay and were very sad to leave Season Lodge.
Cons: The only feedback would be to change the bedsheets and towels more regularly, however when we did ask the cleaners, they did do it. But maybe we were staying a little longer than the average guest.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What an amazing place! My stay at this hotel was the highlight of our holidays in Zanzibar. Beautiful and spacious bungalows just infront of the sea. Very private and romantic. Amazing views to the ocean with low and high tide. Clean and comfortable! Beautiful setting and surroundings. The staff is super friendly and ready to help. The food at the restaurant also excellent! Don't hesitate to book this hotel. It will be a unique experience!
Cons: That I had to leave!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely loved this hotel. The views of the beach are amazing and the hotel itself is stunning. Staff were very friendly too. The only problem was that it was fully booked so we couldn’t stay any longer! Simply perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms/ bungalows are even better in real life than the photos suggest. The view is stunning and you basically have your own little beach to yourselves. Not only that but there’s a walk in wardrobe you can lock as well as a safe and a lovely double sink bathroom with shower and bathroom. It’s also the little touches like the dressing table with good lighting and a hair dryer and the refillable bottles they put for each person so that rather than endless plastic waste you can fill up with cold water from one of two water dispensers at any time of day and as much as you like. The staff are friendly and the communal pool area is a hippy heaven with huge bed swings and lots of places to relax in and out of the sun. On Sundays the owner sets up his music system and there’s great music all afternoon. When we stayed he had a saxophonist accompany some of the remixes. With regards to location, it’s a quiet area but so relaxing. Right next to the beach, you can go down and explore whenever you like and we walked along to explore other restaurants several nights.
Cons: Because we couldn’t stay longer.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The staff were friendly and helpful. The swimming pool, small, but very refreshing. There is a hotel room safe, though small in comparison to other hotel room safes.
Cons: The room smelt musty/damp, which predominately came off from the mattress on the bed. The hotel's 'solution' was to change the bed-sheets. However, as the smell remained, I spent my stay ensuring the blanket was covering the bed and sleeping within a silk sleeping bag liner I had with me. The shower, though initially was fine, ended up being temperamental regarding flow and temperature. It was fixed, but then started playing up again. None of the door/window latches lined up (basically the wood was warped), so there is a padlock to lock the room, but you couldn't lock the doors/windows properly, thus a bit pointless. The photos give the image of a rustic place, but it is more a reflection of run-down, well-used facilities. The swimming pool has ceramic tiles and quite deep steps, so I was worried that I would slip. Unless you have your own transport that you are limited to the hotel food options. The lunch-time menu consisted of meals, such as, burger and chips, chicken schnitzel and chips, etc. which all cost US$10; there were no options of sandwich, wrap, salads. The evening meal options were starter (US$5), main (US$15) and dessert (US$5); such as, thai curry, banoffee pie, etc. Wine tended to be about US$30 per bottle. You were even charged for a cup of coffee. The food was nice, but nothing special, certainly not justifying the price. On checking out, you are informed that there is an Infrastructure tax (US$1) and that a daily water cost (neither previously mentioned). Within the room there are water bottles which they request you fill up to reduce the use of plastic bottles, free of charge. However, in the restaurant area there is a water cooler, if you use this, then it is a US$1 charge per day. I am assuming the free of charge water is what comes out of the tap, however, I wasn't sure it was acceptable drinking water.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I almost don't want to review this place because I want to keep it my hidden secret but the truth is you should try it too. What an awesome view to wake up to. If you are trying to find a peaceful quite place to rest this is it. The staff were all friendly and always smiling and they cooked the best food with a good variety of choice everyday. Disco and taxi are the best beach doggos!
Cons: Wifi could be a little faster. You must stay by the reception or pool when you need it.
Santa Maria Coral Park - Pongwe - Bedroom

8.1 Excellent (98 reviews)

Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
6.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is situated directly on the beach. It has a swimming pool, where we spent most of our time.
Cons: The bungalows have no air conditioning. A fan is provided, but it is not enough to combat the heat. It is very hot inside, it is quite hard to sleep during the night, not to say about being intimate. The food served in the hotel is OK in quality, but service is very slow. One should keep an eye on the bill - if left alone, the bill can increase by itself :-)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The beach is stunning. The location is extremely quiet - at times we had the beach to ourselves. The room was attractive and very clean with fantastic views of the sea. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: There were no local restaurants within walking distance -only big hotels with expensive mainly European menus. Having not read the small print we were surprised by an extra €9 per night per person tax that was added to our bill. This was not the case in any other hotels we stayed in Zanzibar. There was also a 5 or 6% charge for paying by card which seemed a bit steep.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This place is very cozy, welcoming and silent! It has a real zanzibar vibe. It s for people that enjoy nature and culture! The staff is very nice! We really enjoyed! We wish to go back!
7.5 Good
Pros: The location of the property at the beach was an ideal setting and the staff was very friendly.
Cons: The town where the property was located was very quiet and the payment at the property was a bit complicated, as they charge 10% for payment by credit card and the tourist tax is separate.
7.9 Good
Pros: Petra and her staff run Santa Maria very well. It is relaxing. Just right for chilling out. Very fine sandy beach.
7.9 Good
Pros: Overall a very pleasant stay, very quiet, staff were very friendly and helpful. Will be going back
Cons: Beach was a bit disappointing at low tide you couldn't swim
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere was nice. If felt like being on Gilligan's Island (70's TV Show). Yousseff and staff very friendly and helpful. Property was constantly being maintained and very clean. Compared to other areas up and down the beach. The food was TOP NOTCH! I can't say enough bout it. This is not meant to be a huge resort. It's small, quiet and intimate, that's why we chose it.
Cons: Not the fault of Santa Maria: Although I knew this before hand, the tide was out most of the day when I would have like to see and be by the ocean. From 10am till about 5pm. When I say out, it was Waaaaaaaaaay out, like a mile, not just a couple hundred feet. We had to waljk to another area to see it during the day and snorkel. It was like this all up and down the coast. So any place else would be the same. The power would go out from time to time and it's difficult to shower when the water pump needs power ;-) Again, not property's fault, and I will still go there in the future.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice quiet beach in Pongwe, warm staff, friendly beach dog. Nice breakfast .
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice bungalows, very nice staff. Good place for chill a few days. Foos was nice too.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel is very nice, clean, has a wide range of restaurants and food choices, gym facilities, staff is very friendly. This place is great value for money and is located in one of the best areas. Guests are mainly Europeans.
Cons: Service could have been slightly more attentive during breakfast and dinner as part of the half board option.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The facilities are nice, the staff is very friendly. The hotel in general is beautiful, the rooms are very nice.
Cons: The restaurant’s chef needs to be improved, food is not very tasty and as you don’t have too many options to eat around the hotel you have to eat there. Also, knowing that this is not a problem of the hotel, the low tide is an issue if you want to go to swim.
7.0 Good
Pros: even If I did not book all inclusive like most of the guests which came with tour operator and in groups, I felt welcome from the very friendly staff, from F&B manager to the receptionist or waiters, my phone got broken and they tried everything to help me very good Spa services
Cons: maybe the slow wifi but just during few hours, better coordination from cleaning ladies

7.0 Good
Pros: Staffs were very nice, The dinner events were really good.
Cons: the quality of the food wasn't good enough. They had many dinner events which were really nice and the quality of food in those events were much better. Facilities didn't meet our expectations based on the price we paid for the hotel.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff, wonderful garden. Spacious and comfortable room. Nice and big swimming pool.
Cons: Be prepared for a long drive from the airport. Very bad experience with the transfer, it is pretty expensive and no service at all. The hotel cannot guarantee anything. We almost missed the plane 2 times because of the not well organised pick up, unprepared driver, like no petrol in the car, puncture on the way, etc. In the hotel there are 5 restaurants but the cuisine is still very poor. Services are overpriced. We booked a snorkelling tour for half day, the boat was run down, rusty. We couldn't go down to the beach unless a dozen of local people gathered around us and not going away. It was not scary but very uncomfortable, just couldn't enjoy the beach!
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff really nice
Cons: Food booking process for restaurants, shower and bed all can do with improvement
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, pool, gym and entertainment
Cons: Slim hours for meals made it a bit tricky with kids. Also no babysitting for youngsters
5.0 Okay

6.7 Good
Pros: The rooms were clean and they have entertainment every night.
Cons: The staff are does not understand the international language of English. This makes communication bad. We had prawns that were not deveigned, so the chef said sorry and brought us new prawns, we then found that the new prawns were bad/ off. We were so disgusted we didnt finish our meal.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Low Price , entertainment, near beach
Cons: Not clean, washroom smells,ac not cooling , baby bed was full of dirt so we retained, insects too many
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was wonderful Good staff Very beautiful view and garder Really I enjoyed all
6.3 Good
Pros: The property is well-maintained and beautiful. The access to the beach is easy and there are a lot of beach chairs/umbrellas for all guests on the property. The beach itself is long, but I'd recommend water shoes as it is a little rocky. The hotel provides a dedicated tour office (recommend going to Stone Town) which made it easy to coordinate travel to other areas in Zanzibar. The staff was also very friendly. I also scheduled an appointment with the spa and had an amazing massage. The food options were great and the type of menu changed nightly (for dinner) so you got a taste around the world.
Cons: The use of a "card" to keep track of all purchases (depending on your boarding preferences) was a little cumbersome. It would be nice to have an option to swipe at the end of the meal or keep a running "tab" open throughout your stay. The Wi-Fi also only works in the common areas (think reception, main restaurant, pool, beach) but not in the rooms (not an problem for me) but I had to get a new password to connect daily which was an annoyance. Upon arrival, my air conditioner wasn't working (it was resolved the next day) but the staff who came that night left without a clear resolution and said it was working. Also, the rooms were well maintained and very clean, but felt a little outdated/old. Also, airport transfers are very expensive. Since it was my first time in Zanzibar, I wanted the most safe/reliable option, but I would recommend looking up a taxi or getting one when arriving.
6.0 Good
Pros: The facilities there are great
Cons: My room wasnt properly cleaned daily, they would just make my bed and mop the floor. The waiters have a terrible attitude especially towards black people I constantly had to run after them for service. Receptionist called me at 8am to ask what time I'm checking out. I was only meant to check out at 10am. So I definitely won't be going back to Uroa
7.5 Good
Pros: Everything was good
Cons: Cats, No wifi in the room
6.0 Good
Pros: Beach and entertainment
Cons: Hard beds and same menu
7.0 Good
Pros: Good services
Cons: Nothing

Pros: I cannot say enough good things about Blue Bay. It exceeded all expectations. The property is stunning. The room was beautiful! The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming - I felt so at home. The food was delicious. If I am ever in Zanzibar again I will only be staying at Blue Bay. Pros: The entertainment was amazing. Staff was so friendly and the food selections at buffet was huge and it changed everyday. The beach was also beautiful as well as the resort itself.
Cons: The shower drain needs to be fixed as the water wouldn't go down. But other than that everything was great!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful and friendly, good value for money. I would not have stayed at any other hotel in this town.
Cons: Small maintenance requirements since the hotel is not brand new.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We booked the hotel at the last moment. All staff were very nice and helpful, always attentive and ready to help. Beautiful hotel site in the middle of lot of greens and facing awesome beach.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent food all around. Good variety and mostly healthy and fresh. The char grilled fish and octopus was a standout as were the desserts. Special mention for the Pumpkin curry and the fish and coconut curry (all made by the lovely Sri Lankan chef, Victor). Another especial mention to the animation team, who do their best to be fun but not intrusive: Hassan, Said and Rachel (the child carer and yoga instructor) were exemplary.
Cons: The pillows. And that was it.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The upgrade we received from the beach villa to the beach suite was amazing. The turn down service was great and the kids gaming area as well. The surf shop offers good choices and excursions providing safe and comfortable snorkeling etc options. Friendly and security staff. The nightly coconut picking for guests was a good idea. The entertainment (karaoke, bands etc) was great fun. Overall the resort is fantastic and I would recommend it.
Cons: Things we did not like include: - limited beer options - incorrect room service orders - warm cold drinks and beers delivered to the room - wines and drinks should be kept cold and cannot be served at room temperature in Zanzibar. - having stayed at this resort before, the food is not as spicy or representative as before and caters for a more bland palate - cocktails made from box premixes, was unacceptable and not enjoyable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every property was excellent The staffs were so kind and friendly They talked to us for every moment we had any trouble without calling them. They always kindly greeted us like “Mambo”, which was so nice and made us happy. Information of aqua sports or marine sports like JET SKI and DIVING are always available. Some staffs are professional for guiding those activities and we can enjoy them without any reservations in advance.
7.5 Good
Pros: + The overall atmosphere. + Location. + Staff. + Beach. + All Inclusive plan. + Resorts decoration and rooms from outside. - Pool’s tiles makes it look very old and not pleasing to swim in.
Cons: - Pool’s tiles makes it look very old and not pleasing to swim in.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: food was really great. good variety of alternatives and 3-4 chefs grilling some specialties in the buffet. pool and beach area was super. nice evening program.
Cons: all-inclusive is a must. food/drinks are twice the "normal" price. You need to sign the bar receipt for everything you order. This makes ordering a quite time consuming process with the slow computers. I signed probably 50 receipts during our 4 day trip even though we had all-inclusive
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I booked the all inclusive, Breakfast was amazing. I did not miss breakfast any of the mornings that I was there. Variety of dish for everyone. Fresh fruits and juices were also available. Lunch was great but dinner was also amazing with the nightly entertainment and cozy feel for dinner. Waitress and staff were very polite and helpful.
Cons: outside the resort, its not much to look at or do. I would have loved to get out and explore the the towns, markets, villages, or just to site see. I also didn't like the high prices for the tours. Snorkeling was around $120 for 2 people. Ridiculous! I would expect to pay that for scuba, but not snorkeling.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and friendly service, quite and good food.
Cons: Need a renovation

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was delicious! It was awesome being able to interact with the Massai warriors and the staff was so fun! Ali taught me how to play this double mancala game and I WON!! The staff was so nice and happy. It seemed genuine. My room was spacious and clean. There was a crack between the bottom of my door and the floor but not one bug came in. Actually I don't remember seeing any bugs.. If you take a walk down the beach you walk into the village and there are children playing and.. it was a great spot! Also the excursions!! WOW!!
Cons: I tried calling many times to schedule a shuttle. I could never get a response and took a taxi from the airport and paid double.
6.3 Good
Cons: Frequent shortages in electricity. And the generators don't run the AC. Quality of food not very good, and lack of choice. You cannot swim in the ocean because of the tide. The beverages and snacks are very poor, paying all inclusive is a waste of money. They provide transportation to another beach, which is similar to the one where the hotel is located, but they use a truck for that! The internet WiFi signal is very bad and poor.

Pros: The Masai dancing was interesting
Cons: almost everything is terrible.... poorly furnished and basic rooms … they are still building the hotel... very unclean breakfast area and even worse choice of breakfast if you can get through the queues .. staff going through the motions and not really very interested. Beach very poor and huge amount of seaweed. Mostly geared up for full board tours it seems .. stayed two nights and I really pity the people who have to stay longer
7.9 Good
Pros: Restaurant service very good
Cons: All was good but there lacks shops or supermarket nearby
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. Very clean. Staff very friendly
Cons: 50 us dollars to get visa at airport,of which I was not aware off .The sea was full of weed so very difficult to swim in. Had to pay 5.00 us dollars non returnable (everything charged in dollars) extra for poolside towels and 1.00 dollar to get a clean one . All inclusive bar closed at 11.00pm then you had to pay for any further drinks. So beware you will need extra money!!!
5.4 Okay
Pros: The food at the a la carte restaurant was great until the last night when the chef made some horrible chicken and called it chicken curry. I know for sure it was not the same chef because what he made was a joke. I was so angry and then the guy who was the manager tells me that chefs are different! And made me feel I was crazy
Cons: The a la carte mananger on the third night, his name is Dickson. Please learn better ways to resolve issues. Please stop charging customers for towels, that is unreasonable. It is a beach resort so people will definitely use towels. The 5% surcharge on use of credit cards, my dears thst is just too much. Find a way to include it in your rate

Pros: Beautiful facilities, indoor and out. Good food, friendly, attentive staff, amazing beach.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Mvuvi is a very nice boutique hotel. The walkway to the rooms are sand and this zen-type environment, continues all throughout the facility. Upon check-in we were greeted with glasses of papaya (Or was it mango?) juice and showed directly to our room. Even though we were late due to a day of sightseeing, we still were able to grab a couple of drinks and sit out under the patio which allowed for us to catch some of the cool and relaxing, ocean breezes. Our room had been cooled, was clean, and was filled with rustic/beach decor which fit the environment. The towels were huge and there were nice toiletries for use, if we had happened to forget the basics. The beds were firm and felt like they were memory foamed, with plenty of pillows. The bathroom was clean and the shower simple, with a decent flow and hot water. The staff was very cordial and professional, with Grace the manager leading the way. Breakfast was simple but nice, with eggs that could be ordered to style. Our only gripe was the assignment of tables by room number instead of first come-first served, which gave off a feeling of higher payer getting the better view. However, Grace assured us that this was not the case and we left it at that. The beach is lengthy and very nice for a long and relaxing walk. Beautiful people of the region will also be along to offer gifts or massages, but they are polite and not pushy. Overall, we had a pleasant time and would definitely stay again.
Cons: A per head tax of nine (9) U.S. dollars, was a little surprising. This "city tax" should be a flat rate.
7.9 Good
Pros: 1) very friendly staff 2) relaxing set up and beautiful white sandy beach 3) they accept credit cards and managed to book me on tours where they charge my card for it.
Cons: Inconsistent level of satisfaction PROS 1) very friendly staff 2) relaxing set up and beautiful white sandy beach 3) they accept credit cards and managed to book me on tours where they charge my card for it. CONS 1) location is more suitable for honeymooners and those seeking being away from island activities 2) inconsistent food quality, the same dish might be tasty then the next day could be horrible. 3) terrible WiFi, weak mobile signal too. But that’s pretty much almost everywhere on the island. 4) I was charged for late check-out despite being Genius 2 on booking.com
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was perfect ! close to the beach , nice view , nice room , nice restaurant The staff was very very nice . always present and ready to help you ! you feel really good in this place , calm and quiet ! you can sleep well with no noise . Food is very good and tasty ! I recommande this place to all the couple who wants to have a real break in peace ! thanks to all the staff for being so nice and present ! thanks to chef for doing the best crepes in the morning !!! sooo good ;)!
Cons: it was perfect
9.2 Excellent
Pros: If you are looking for a peaceful and small hotel look no further! The staff was so helpful, the room was simple but beautiful, the restaurant is great and the massages were good value for money. Nice afternoon snacks and breakfast was delicious.Really recommended. The food is really nice but most people there were on half board basis so a la carte menu does not change daily. really nice food but a bit repetitive after few days.
Cons: No fridge in the room and for some bizarre reason they do not provide complementary water everyday. If it is for plastic bottles why don’t they provide free access to a dispenser? Drinks prices are more expensive than luxury hotels on the same resort, which again is a bit strange. Also odd that we asked for recommendation for a place to eat and was told that they could not make any recommendations as they have no direct experience of the other local restaurants... basically they really want you to eat at their restaurant...
6.3 Good
Pros: The location and the beach section are nice. Alessandro is a great and very good at dealing with guests. The food is also good. They bake their own bread and its delicious. The fish is fresh and the breakfast is simple ( there could be more fruit ) but nice. Small buffet with eggs to order.
Cons: Okay so we booked the standard room and when we checked in the room was so smelly it was actually unbearable. It felt like the room hadn’t been aired for a very long time and the mould odour was awful. After 3 hrs of chaos, they couldn’t change our room but offered us a massage and a lovely dinner. Apart from the smell, the room wasnt well kept. The toilet’s flush would fall apart after every use and in general our advice would be not to book this room. They also charged us extra 5% by putting the payment for the booking through using the card info on booking.com although actually the payment should’ve been handled at check in. If we had known about the 5% we could’ve payed cash. On rainy days there is nothing to do at the hotel that lacks a proper lounge and bar area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This resort is a beautiful hotel the photos don’t do it justice , the food is excellent and plentiful , and Grace and her staff are very friendly and attentive, always there when needed. We’re very sad to be leaving.

Pros: This is a really good resort at an affordable price with a beautiful garden, two swimming pools, a wonderful spa and a very friendly staff. My only recommendation for them is to provide rooms with two single beds because they only have rooms with one double bed.

Pros: best property to stay, staff very friendly & always entertaining, breakfast, lunch & dinner also very good with variety
Cons: room was little small & not very clean
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were really attentive and pleasant. Great place to stay and value for money. The beach shops near by added to our experience not to talk about the night entertainment offered by the hotel loved loved!!!
Cons: Mostly caters for Italians in terms of meals, it would have been nice to have other options.

Pros: A huge resort with great pools. The room was small but cozy with a balcony. Cleaning was provided every day as a clean towels. Great breakfast with many options. Great internet.
Cons: The beach is not as nice as other locations on the island.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely friendly, they made sure our comfort was their priority. The facilities are clean and the food was great. The entertainment was very good. It made our stay that much better. The internet connection was good.
Cons: The mattress is stiff, its uncomfortable. It would be nice to have a fridge and an iron in the rooms. Clean drinkable drinking water in the room would also be lovely. The basin in the room only has cold water. Warm water would have been appreciated.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Loved the clean un-clutttered room. The bathroom was un-cluttered and simple, yet very clean and had everything we needed. A super stunning swimming pool and fabulous entertainment which was part of our stay! It was absolutely great!Afternoon tea/ coffee and cake was most welcome.
Cons: The only improvement point would be to place tea and coffee making faciliites into the bed-rooms. Other than that, there are no improvement points that we could think of. Everything was great and we loved our stay!

Pros: - location - pool - beach - Tanzanian Staff (so nice) - view
Cons: - A/C didn’t work - Italian staff doesn’t speak English only welcoming to Italian guests. - Italian food - No mosquito net in the bunk beds - WiFi was bad didn’t work in any location other than reception. - toilet cover falls on your back when sitting on toilet. Overall wouldn’t recommend if your not Italian

Cons: wifi is slow and bad.

Pros: Quaint, great if you're travelling with kids, lovely beach just a walk away, quiet and peaceful.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Beach is nice during high tide. African kitchen staff, bartender, waiters, waitress, hired transport drivers are all very welcoming Free breakfast and dinner was included in our reservation. Menu food was satisfying Shower satisfying
Cons: Majority Italian food buffet only Italian speaking hotel .. TV never worked after being told it would be turned on..dont recall anyone coming back to check Sheets Hot sticky, unclean feeling , and uncomfortable feeling Only a sheet to cover up with Room hot and stuffy , theres a large balcony door but mosquitoes will eat you if you leave it open too much..a/c just ok.. Rooms can use an upgrade.. Nothing really around but beach vendors down the beach a bar/restuarant on the water ...and a few other livelier private hotels with music after the bridge restaurant. Noon is when most people start coming out, sun starts coming tide starts coming.. You cant eat in your room they say.. so we ate in the balcony when we didnt feel like being around everyone Ran out of seafood (Free Italian food only) so u end up ordering from the menu anyway .. Security Guard and someone from the owners family allowed us to come and rest inside when we showed a few hours before check in ( No 24hr lobby ) To our surprise we almost got charged for it..vs being told this from the beginning.. No real welcoming feeling from the owner and his family who seem to stay on the property ..even tho there is a language barrier..even a simple smile will do.
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: Several times during our stay, we saw rats around the bar. Breakfast was very poor. The stuff was unfriendly and uninterested for the needs of the guests. The hotel and the rooms were small and dirty. We don’t recommended at all.
1.0 Poor
Pros: We booked for 4 nights here but We had to get another hotel hotel and they refused to refund our money back .
Cons: Everything. The staff were rude, the food was terrible. We had to look for an alternative
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is nice and cosy, with a beautiful beach, a small swimming pool and two restaurants one of which just on the beach. The staff is friendly and try to accommodate you. The quality of food is great both buffet either a la cart, the selection of beverage is also remarkable. All the rooms are provided with mosquito net and AC, which is important in Zanzibar.
Cons: I experienced some problem with spiders inside the room at ground floor, but unfortunately it is the season. The fees for the overstaying is the same if half day or few hours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We spent 11 days at Blu Marlin Village in Kiwengwa, Zanzibar. Prepairing for our trip I read some negative opinions about this place, but ours was definitely positive. We had view to the ocean, a room with air condition. There is a swimming pool, and the ocean coast is in within few steps. The Blu Marlin owned by an Italian family, they were very kind to us. Me and my wife both speak some Italian, but in English more easier, but we had no problem with this. The staff, waiters were extremely kind and helpful, on our last day, when we said goodbye, they even hugged and kissed my wife and our six years old girl. Especially thanks for Eddie, a local guide who organizes different tours on the island and boat trips on the sea. He speaks fluent English and Italian, very prepared. Also thanks for his friend, Mr. Haji, for the excellent tour in Stone Town! When our plane took off from Zanzibar Airport to home, our little girl started to cry silently: 'I don' t want to leave! Mommy, Dady, promise me, we'll back some day!'

Pros: Lovely property otherwise.
Cons: Very slow service
