Pros: Our room was one that was remodeled. It was spacious and clean. Beds were comfy. Breakfast was pretty standard. Outdoor hot tubs were hot but lacked in bubbles. Kids loved the indoor pool. Very nice owners!
Pros: Location was nice and the room was remolded recently, so it was clean.
Cons: The bed was uncomfortable and the breakfast was less than mediocre.
Pros: The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and accommodating. We usually have a 25' gooseneck trailer when we travel and Gateway has a nice big parking lot that is easy to navigate. No doubt we'll stay there the next time we're in Salida.
Pros: I liked the rustic, lodge like feel of the place. It's decor was a great fit for the Rocky Mountains.
Cons: When we went to check in, the gentleman at the front desk literally made me feel sorry for taking up his time to check us in... I felt like an intruder!
We walked in & waited for a while for anyone to attend to us. No big deal. However, once he did come out, I stated that we'd like to check in. He rolled his eyes when I told him that I had just made reservations online. He looked us up in the computer. Then someone called on the phone. He rolled his eyes again, let out a large gasp, and proceeded to sound rude to whomever was calling before walking into the backroom behind the lobby.
He then came back and apologized for his behavior. He informed us that he's trying to relax and people keep interrupting his relaxation time.... Ummm... Hello?? Don't you want people coming to your business?? Don't you like making money?? I felt so uncomfortable that I almost told him that he could refund our money and we'd find somewhere else so that we aren't "intruding" into his relaxation time. However, it was late and we had spent most of the day driving.... So we stayed.
What a horrible employee to represent your company. :( I surely won't be staying there again.
Every thing else was fine with regards to the room. Wasn't the cleanest but the price wasn't bad.
Pros: Our 2nd stay. Great helpful owners and neat rustic lobby. Rooms are all very clean.
Cons: My back is a bit sensitive so the beds just don't work for me. Hope they look into investing in fresh beds with some firmness.
Pros: Rustic look fits well with mountain atmosphere. Several bronzed cougars and bears located around property with a pine staircase railing and various scenic paintings throughout the lobby. Owners were very nice and helpful. Breakfast included cereals, breads and bagels, hard boiled eggs, fruit and yogurt.
Pros: The beds were soft and comfortable. The tv's were nice. There was a fridge and microwave in the room. Walking distance from restaurants. They have free breakfast which is pretty minimal but free coffee and bagels is still good enough. The staff was nice enough to let me plug my car in and charge it for the night.
Cons: The hot tub smelled odd and the water level was low. I own a tub so I notice these things. I went over a holiday weekend and the price was about 3x what it should have cost. Supply vs demand but it still sucks to over pay for a basic room. Wi-Fi password didn't work, there were other options but the signal was weak.
Cons: outside door by our roon had no lock. No sound insulation between rooms and large bus group made a lot of noise in lobby in evening
Pros: Beds were very comfortable. Family enjoyed the pool and the breakfast was above average. The breakfast hostess was entertaining! There were 8 of us in all. Had a very good time.
Cons: Pillows were a little too hard for my taste.
Pros: Large rooms. Great breakfast. Indoor pool & hot tub. Able to open windows for fresh air..love this feature
Cons: No outdoor seating or patio area.
Pros: The hot tub and pool, The room was very clean and the hallways upstairs smelled like cinnamon.
Cons: The bed was a little hard and my back hurt, but that is normal for me, I have a disc degenerative disease in my lower back, otherwise the bed was very clean.
Pros: Service, staff attitudes, spacious room, location, good breakfast.close to very good Mexican restaurant and a full grocery store.
Pros: This was an unexpected find! The room was so clean and new. After seeing the room we decided that we would stay and extra night. The breakfast was awesome as well. The best part was the staff! They were the most welcoming and helpful people!
Cons: The pool could have been cleaner.
Pros: Personnel at the front desk. The evening person went above expectations to get us settled in our room. We observed the morning person doing a check in the breakfast room and making adjustments the attendant overlooked.
Pros: Bed was really comfy
Cons: Kind of a funky smell when first checked into room. Went away after we went to dinner.
Pros: Rooms were large, very clean and staff pleasant and helpful.
Pros: We truly enjoyed the location of the Hampton as it was close to multiple mountain towns. The room was comfortable and we were able to unwind.
The front desk staff was very friendly and as helpful as we needed.
Even the breakfast was pretty good - not 5 star but good and more than enough.
Cons: The cleaning staff needs to step up and pay attention to detail. While it appeared mostly clean - the trash was empty, the tub and sink shined, and bedding was untarnished. There was a bottle cap from a soda left on the desk and a stick from an ice cream bar on the floor under the desk. Yuck!
Pros: It was our halfway to Durango, so it was fine for a quick resting place. The staff was also pleasant.
Cons: Got in late and had a difficult time finding an entrance. Once we were checked in we learned right away that they were out of most toiletries.
Pros: Location was good, lots of breakfast options.
Cons: The door to the hallway was terrible. Had to work and pull to make sure it closed. There was a small gap between the door and the frame. Seemed to offer nothing as a sound barrier. We heard every little noise outside, which became really bad when the ice machine kept going off at 6 in the morning, along with the constant hum of the vending machine and the kids running around. I would not pay the extra money to stay here again.
Pros: Clean and great gym/pool area
Cons: Lights not working in room
Pros: Great location. Very clean. Decent breakfast buffet. Good sized indoor pool with hot tub.
Cons: Hotel washing machine broke while we were there. Made towels a commodity for a couple of days.
Pros: Clean & great location!!
Cons: Did not recieve my honor points for my 2 night stay - Why?
Pros: The staff members with whom I dealt were extremely attentive and helpful. The facilities are clean and very pretty, especially those out in public view (e.g. the breakfast room, the fitness room, etc.) The breakfast had more than enough to eat and it was good enough for "free".
Cons: There was only a sheet and an extremely warm comforter bedspread on the bed. In the closet was an extraordinarily heavy (in weight) blanket which would have crushed our bodies. The air conditioner, while reading out a bright, digital "65" was clearly not putting out 65 degree cool, though turned as cold as it would allow, and so sleeping at night was uncomfortable. Other things not open to public view were inadequate, especially for a hotel this costly. The toilet paper was a disgrace--clearly no executive of this company has ever tried to use it. I was reminded again of how hotels today put alot of work and effort into anything seen by the public, but really don't serve their clients in the rooms.
Cons: Bedding not changed: hair on sheets and pillows. Far down the list: foul smell from heater, bedside lamp switch defective, deadbolt lock not functional, key card (despite instructions) required multiple attempts on a cold 10pm night. Slept on the floor with clothes on. Ski day next day; attention is focused on new powder.
