Clean, good sized rooms noise of pool rattled our shutters on Sat when they have rehab type party
Great hotel with great amenities, a nice pool with weekend pool parties, ample dining options, and a friendly staff.
My room had a fabulous view and was very clean besides the two huge bugs that were flying around next to the bedside lamp. The check in process was a headache. They gave terrible directions from the check in counter to the elevator and I had to ask several employees where and how to get to my room. Not to mention I was on the 13th floor and the elevator didn't even have a button for "13", so again I had to go down to the 1st level and ask the security person at the hotel entry. The valet guys left a lot to be desired too.
The entire facility was very clean, very nice staff, the text messaging for room status was great especially since I was messaging a real person and not a computer The price was a little high but that could have been because of the near holiday weekend
This was a great location for our AZ getaway. We loved the amenities, enjoying several of the restaurants on location, every pool and hot tub option, and really loved the gym with a view. While we knew there would be smoking on the casino level, since neither of us smoke, the fact that the entire floor, including the check in desk, reeked of smoke, was offensive. I think the resort would be better if the check in area was relocated away from the stench of smoke.
The rooms were nice, beds comfy, and food was good. The pool and facilities were clean and well kept. The noise was outrageous. Me and my girlfriend went to get away from the kids and have a relaxing "staycation." People were partying so loudly on our floor we could feel the base coming from the music in their room. Alerted hotel staff multiple times regarding this issue and it was not taken care off. We were also promised a call back from the security manager and never received one. The music and yelling lasted until about 3 am (our first complaint was about 1030pm.) will never stay hear again due to the lack of concern by staff regarding the problem we encountered.
Room design is great! Room is very comfortable. Fort Knox ... the process for getting into the pool was ridiculous. 4 stages of security... worse than TSA
The smoking- the young people and lack of good restaurants
Food was adequate. Really enjoyed the pool all day Saturday, with the sunburn to prove it. I purchased a rate for a room that offered 1 king or 2 queens, seeing as I was staying the night with my friend and my girlfriend we were going to need 2 queen beds, I was never prompt to choose between the two options so I assumed we would sort the matter out at the front desk. I checked in with both my guest present with me, even put their names on it for 3 room keys. At this point obviously I was under the impression the woman behind the counter would think "oh maybe he needs 2 queens" not the case, we received the king bed but only found out after we had made our way to the 7th floor. After all is said and done we get downgraded to fit our accommodations, promised a refund for the difference over the phone from the room once we received our room keys the woman at the front desk had no awareness of our situation and did not refund me anything. Hardly apologized for the inconvenience, blamed the woman over the phone for being new so that they didn't have to offer a refund. No carry-in policy? Never saw a sign for that, pretty sure everyone and their grandmother bring alcohol from home? I brought my beverage to the casino floor and needed it to be popped open so I asked the bartender for a bar keep and he "confiscated" my drink from me due to their no carry-in rule. Unbelievable.
Our girls weekend was horrible. First it was 50.00$ to get into the pool with 2,000 other people. So we had to find another resort to relax at. And then our plumbing went out and was not accommodated until we called and complained. We were told to use the bathroom in the casino and we had no place to shower. The only bright spot was the front desk manager upon check out who was completely embarrassed about how we were treated.
Loved everything about my stay except the spa. I received 2 services at the spa which were stellar and the service providers equally fantastic. The front desk staff and attendant however, were in a rush to close over a half hour so they closed parts of the spa facilities early and wouldn't accommodate a later appointment time. There are MANY spas to choose from in Scottsdale and this used to be one of my favorites.
We loved our room being upgraded, The balcony was awesome! Great view, Good staff. The facility was beautiful and very clean. Only 1 chair, 1 robe, 1 slippers, and one soap even though there were 2 of us. Would be better for me as a first timer to have had better instructions from the check in counter on everything from what we can and can't take to our room to how to work the heater.
Big rooms and the best staff I've encountered!
Excellent location and facilities A bit tired looking (some of it needs coat of paint!), fewer staff than usual so service a bit less good than usual
The setting at the base of Camelback Mt in Scottsdale was breathtaking. Every staff member was extremely courteous and professional. The highlight was sitting outside each night by a fire pit overlooking the property and all of Phoenix. The other highlight was in teh lobby bar, they have a trumpet jass singer named Jerry McGuire who was a combination of Chri Botti and George Benson....amazing that added to the sexy ambiance of the hotel, bar and outdoor patio. Not a thing that I didn't like!
Great location. Conseigre well informed, pro shop nice with lots of choices
The food here is amazing. All the food in old town was amazing as well. We ate at the pool two days and it was gormet delishious! We also ate breakfast in the resturant down stairs and it was also fantastic. Pricey but very good. Hotel is beautiful when you walk in and is a really nice place to stay but is very dated. The pool and the rooms need updated to make this hotel worth the money.
The staff was amazing!
excellent service, spa, golf, food, nearby shopping and restaurants. Great room and bathroom. Would definitely recommend it.
Great facilities and exceptional staff
Bed, linens, view, city location, air conditioning, large rooms Dirty carpet, furniture, and rug. Housekeeping ignored hotel policy of bottled water, chocolates, and turndown service. Women wearing skimpy bikinis in the lobby and elevators with no coverups - Such a DISAPPOINTMENT from six years ago when this resort was the utimate getaway!!
Very clean They are over priced. We felt nickel and dimed the whole time.
Pool and restaurants plus nearby hiking
Good service and location.
Service was great, facilities were wonderful Had a great time. nothing
Beautiful setting. Very attentive and polite staff throughout the hotel - valet, front desk, restaurant staff/servers, housekeeping - everyone was great. The people make a huge difference in creating a pleasant guest experience, and they were all very nice and accommodating. The room was very nice, and we really liked the large bathroom, kitchenette, and desk/office space.
Bad gym, no cell signal in rooms or throughout resort, looks like motel, old interiors
The wonderful friendly staff made this resort really stand out! Grandpa Frank in the Prado was the best. What nice people and a beautiful resort. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. We stayed three days and I didn't want to leave! I looked for movie channels or movies on demand on the television but none were available.
Everything from when we arrived to when we left. Friendly valet, great bellman, very sweet pool waitress. Pretty room and grounds are gorgeous.
Location is good, restaurants and pool is good, atmosphere is nice, staff are friendly, has good amenities. Fridge didn't work, had expired juices and a bad smell, no space for your own groceries / wine ( one of those sensor fridges). Toilet chain broke twice. Notified front desk, gave us a $50 credit and apologized. Overall handled it well. Despite the negatives, still a good place however would not return and prefer another location over this one.
The views of Camelback mountain were incredible. The staff were the most friendly and helpful staff I have ever come in contact with. I especially enjoyed the walk out patios on the first floor. The layout of the bathroom in the our room was so large and luxurious. I highly would recommend The Montelucia to anyone visiting Paradise Valley.
I don't usually right reviews, but I felt compelled to recommend our experience. We were in awe of the hotel from the moment we arrived. Marissa and Michael at the front desk were professional, engaged and most important they were personal. Hotel grounds are reminiscent of Tuscany with lots of stone and massive wooden gates/entryway. The room exceeded our expectation of cleanliness and style. The onsite restaurant was also delicious. We decided to stay after my wife shot a wedding on sight and vowed to be back. We will return in the near future.
The grounds are beautiful, the staff is very friendly and the amenities are all fantastic. They really did think of everything when they made this hotel. We wanted to have a relaxing weekend and that's what we had. Can't stress enough how the staff does any amazing job of making sure you are well taken care of. The only issue we had was that we wanted to take a bath in our room and the water was not hot at all.
Worn out. Dirty. Noisy
Location location location... For the purpose of my trip and the price(60/night) the hotel was central to everything I planned to do which made it a great choice. The rooms initially appeared to be nice but their attention to detail is severely lacking. The sheets on the beds are white so it's very easy to see the black or reddish brown(hoping not blood) spots and lines on the comforters. The desk is black granite which made it a bit difficult to see the ants crawling on it but my daughter saw them and killed them with my boot. I thought she was kidding since I never saw any, u til our checkout date when I went to grab the phone chargers put of the wall and all the ants were on the wall socket. And last but certainly not least is the staff not being honest. Now this was 100% my mistake I left some articles of clothing on a hanger in the closet (kicking myself for not double checking before leaving) next day I call to inform them that I forgot it and told them exactly what and where it was located, but it can't be found by their staff. Two sweaters should not be worth their staff's integrity. In conclusion I personally will not be staying here again but if you choose to please remember to double check all of your belonging prior to leaving and keep a close eye for stains on your bedding and bugs in your room.
Wonderful, kind staff and really comfortable, clean rooms.
Late check ins were available. Really nothing. My wife and I stayed only one night.
Updated furniture, clean, and comfortable Nothing everything was great
I loved the set up as well as I loved the view from my room and the cleaniness
The staff was amazingly helpful, polite, and friendly. The property is beautiful, location is excellent, and rooms are top of the line for the money. Nothing!!! :)
Great location, clean, quiet, and efficient
Upgraded us to a room with jacuzzi which was super nice of them. And very comfortable beds Check in process took longer than expected and they weren't busy
Bed was comfortable, and the location was ideal for us The plumbing in the bath/shower combo didn't work properly. The tub faucet would still be running at the same time as the shower head, so the it was a race to see if the tub would be filled by the time you were showered.
Loved the whirlpool tube, the bed was 2 die for and having microwave and refrigerator was the best ever I don't think we had a bad experience at all
Swimming pool was great.... Room was modern and very clean. Location to Downtown Scottsdale is perfect. The only thing that needed updating was the mattress. It felt soggy lumpy . Woke up with a sore back. Girlfriend also Complained about soreness.
this hotel is an absolute rip off, all their hidden charges and fees are outrageous. We felt scammed from 408 dollars plus tax quoted to 775 dollars shame on you!
Location, Staff Room could have done with a comfortable chair or small sofa
Very old and dated, has a seventies feel. Not a premium property.
A nice hotel, good pools, nice staff, excellent food
Huge property, very feasable for conventions and events. Good service. Good location, it's on the street that takes you to the mall and downtown, you won't get lost but you do need to rent a car.
The courteous staff Nothing
This "hotel" felt more like a motel at luxury resort rates
Helpful staff, relaxed easy-going feel, a nice place to spend time while stuck by the volcanic ash travel chaos.
The personnel were outstanding, taking real pride in their duties. I was there for a very large dinner (800+), and the food/service were excellent. My filet was just the way I like it, even tho I wasn't asked. It was so large, I couldn't finish it - and wish I had it right now!! Not applicable.
Very nice hotel with big swimmingpool, and bar. Rooms were spacious and clean.
We were very pleased with our stay. The rooms were spacious and clean. The pillows and comfort of the matress was "exceptional". We even took down the manufacturer so we could look into buying some. Great staff, great food, and overall "super" time...
The main pool was nice. The bed were extremely uncomfortable, the room smelled very strong like it was painted, not good with kids. The interior of the room was not luxurious at all. Flat panel hollow core doors, basic trim. The putting green was not kept up all, it had weeds everywhere, the cups were not trimmed, the ball could barely get in the whole it was so overgrown. It was an extremely dated property. It appeared they tried to update some things like bathroom sinks and shower tile but severely missed the mark with everything else. I received a discounted rate and it still was not worth near the money I paid. I left a day early even though I was paid for 3 days. I didn't get a refund as wasn't offered any compensation of any form. Very disappointed and will never stay there again.
I have been going to the spa for some time now and decided to take my husband along for a special treat. We stayed in one of the Spa Casita rooms and it was far more beautiful than on their website. Very comfortable, spacious and beautifully appointed and designed. All of The Sanctuary is of exceptional design. The location on Camelback Mountain is picture perfect and close to everything. The staff is one of the most helpful I have encountered. The spa therapists are of the highest level. I have had most of the treatments and I prefer to fly out and have my treatments here than have anything at home in Boston! I was drawn to the spa for their Watsu treatments and make sure that I have at least one every time I come. My husband throughly enjoyed relaxing with his massages, too. We both can't wait to return. It was a perfect!
We have stayed multiple years. The pool, exercise, tennis, food, service, rooms and scenery are great. There is no entertainment, unless you count the conversation and ambience of the bar. The food is outstanding.
This was a last minute trip and we did not want to go home. Be sure to rent a car as it is not close to town. The casita was like a large apartment, private and very nice. Private pool was a plus for no noise relaxation. Great spa, tennis and fitness center. Keep this a secret!
My sister and I booked a two night stay at the Sanctuary because we had heard good things about the spa. We got a great deal from online travel website (especially since we went off-season) and the pictures of the room online looked great. When we arrived we were very surprised--our room looked nothing like the pictures online. The furniture and carpet were worn, it was small, the bed was uncomfortable and we couldn't regulate the temperature (something that is very important in Arizona in the summer). The brochure for the Sanctuary says the rooms are sleek, modern and comfortable. Not our room! We had to wonder if we got placed in the 'bad rooms' because we booked online with online travel website ? Would we have received a better room if we had paid more money? I will say that other parts of our stay were nice---the spin class was good and the body srub and Thai massage in the spa were fantastic. Not good enough though to go back. Next time we will be staying at the Boulders in Phoen...
The Sancuary on Camelback Mountain is a wonderful place to stay. The mountain and city views from the property are breathtaking. The property is beautifully landscaped and maintained. The pool, spa and fitness center are top of the line. The room was spectacular, tastefully decorated and spacious with a lovely balcony with a great view. It appeared a mostly adult oriented place and I did not see any children in my four days there. The bar and restaurant are first class. The most amazing aspect of the resort was the staff. They were the most friendly, customer service oriented people I have ever encountered, from the front desk, to the bellman to the pool attendants to the room maintenance staff....everyone was absolutely the best. I would highly recommend a stay at this resort...you won't be disappointed. This was my first time staying here and I plan to return again and again.
We were met at the front by a friendly assistant who took me to the front desk to check in. He then guided us to or room with a golf cart. He noticed the cat in the car and waited for us to cage her before helping with the luggage. Sanctuary is a series of small buildings, some with oneunit, others with three or four. Most had balconies. Landscaping is terrific. Dining room was excellent. Pool is a beautiful setting and open 24 hours ( with a room key for security). Great place for a romantic weekend.
This was a wonderful hotel. The suite we had was beautiful and spacious. The turndown service was very nice. The view was incredible. The location was good for everything we wanted to do. The only complaint we had was the service at the pool left a lot to be desired. Apparently if you want good pool service you need to be young and skinny, which we're not. However, that was not enough to ruin our time. We would highly recommend this as a place to stay to anyone.
If you are under the age of 40 you will be treated like a kid. We are mid 20's and the waiter at the Element Restaurant was extremely rude. He was the nicest waiter to the table behind us ( who was all older money) and came to my husband and I maybe 3 times during our whole dining experience there. They had their friendly people, but to some you will be treated like dirt. Even though we are young we have money and the guy underestimated us. Even if we didn't have money I would hope they would have a rule saying all guests should be treated equally. It was our 1st wedding anniversary, and there was nothing special about that dinner besides being with my husband. Would never go again.
This hotel made me feel very comfortable while I was visiting Scotttsdale the SPA treatment was the best ever!!
We returned to The Sanctuary to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Everything from arrival to departure was top notch. The grounds and rooms are lovingly cared for. The staff is warm and attentive. The size of the resort is just right--not too huge and not too small. We prefer the Mountain Casitas to the Spa Casitas. They tend to be quieter, in our opinion. We enjoyed the outdoor seating/bar area for Happy Hour a couple of times; if you have 1-2 of the small bites and drinks from the menu it's a great value. Hiking Camelback Mountain: don't go on a weekend--too crowded.
The resort's location was fantastic, nestled right up against Cambelback Mountain and fairly close to almost everything in Scottsdale. The staff was helpful, thoughtful, courteous and seemed genuinely interested in making our visit perfect. We loved the privacy of our mountainside casita and the small pool nearby made us feel like it was 'our very own'. Our view from the room was beautiful-the only thing better would have been to have had a balcony to enjoy the breath-taking views. The cleanliness of our room and the grounds maintenance were both excellent. The one thing we found rather disconsorting/disappointing was how extremely contemporary the decor of the room was-very, very low furniture with severe lines (the sofa was quite strange looking and totally uncomfortable). The room lighting was odd as well, lots of different lighting fixtures but none of them ever succeeded in giving the room a comfortable, inviting glow. We even tried lighting the small candles from the bathroom...
Awesome Labor Day weekend stay at Sanctuary. Stayed at Mountain Vista suite which was very roomy and comfortable.
Comfort; Excellent restaurant
The hotel is in a nice environement. There is an Extra charge of $16 a day from the hotel that does not appear from the site.
We had an excellent stay. Very comfortable and easy to get in and out of. Well run. And we paid less than half of what similar Scottsdale properties were charging.
The ambiance and the courteous friendly treatment. It was a 5-star experience for a third of the normal price. nothing at all
The Hotel Is very nice The only thing that I didn't like is that I had to pay 16 $ on top of the price of the Hotel, for services that I didn't use, but overall was so convinient that it doens't matter.
The sewer odor was very alarming in the room. The hotel moved me to another room when I called about the odor but the same smell permeated that one also. This problem needs serious and immediate attention to correct. I spoke with several other guests and they experienced the same issue so it appears to be pretty widespread. If This facility belonged to me, I would get it corrected fast.
Clean. Sufficient and close to where I was going. We were given a room very far away from check in and parking when they had many available rooms closer.
The staff were really nice to us and it was a very relaxing stay. I don't think they should charge people for the extra each day for use of the fitness center etc. unless they are interested. I did not mind but the customer ahead of me was not happy and I did not use any of the extra things except the pool.
Beautiful pools and helpful staff. Luxurious rooms and a fun bar.
Price was reasonable Super small room No garbage bags Terrible view
All you need is on site and transportation is readily available
The property and grounds are beautiful. The hospitality staff in the restaurant are first-rate. We reserved a "king" room for a 3-night stay. After a full day of traveling we arrived at the property after midnight and entered a room with twin beds and a baby crib! There were exactly 3 hangars in our closet. On the final night we were awakened at 4 a.m. by water dripping from the ceiling (where the crib had been!). I moved the furniture and put waste baskets to collect the water. Upon checkout, we were offered a free breakfast for our inconvenience. Really???
The atmosphere. Sun and pools. Indoor/outdoor living. Food was average. Room service food was below average. Drinks were not good. You really need to step up your menu on food and train all your bartenders how to make a decent drink. Expected a lot better for the money!
service was excellent throughout the hotel our room was directly across from the icemaker and at the busiest intersection of the floor - thus quite noisy
Housekeeping was superb-not too early and not too late! The staff is friendly and helpful. The 24 hour pool and gym was awesome! The grounds are beautiful! The room could've had a freshen up. Peeling wall paper; banged up furniture; fluffier and softer robes and towels. Little things but those little thing definitely will not hinder me for another visit!
Amazing pools and great relaxation spot. 2 year old loved the sand beach pool. You definitely need a rental car.
The cleaning staff was nice and plenty of parking. Overall it was horrible. The beds were awful, the place wasn't that clean and the front desk staff was beyond rude. We actually moved hotels after two nights because we just could not handle it anymore.
Pool was pretty good, nice gym setup, good food options, excellent service. Location good for Scottsdale and surrounding areas, a little far from central Phoenix and beyond, but traffic is not a problem so that's not a big deal. Happy that they hand out plenty of bottled water and have water available at the pool and in the lobby. Access to the spa was also a plus. We were stuck in an outdated room with old double beds, an old and too-small bathroom. There weren't many plugs near the beds (like on the tiny night stand) to charge phones and other devices. We had to request a fridge as it wasn't in the room automatically, and there isn't a microwave either. The TVs were problematic as they were in the midst of updating their system, so sometimes the TVs were completely down, with no signal. The TVs on the gym cardio machines were down the entire time.
nice swimmingpool; good beakfast; nice staff
Location for business and shopping. Cleanliness and poolside bar.
Close to the areas we wanted to visit, very clean & easy to find. Staff were very friendly, good facilities.
Location Housekeeper try to open the door without notice to accommodate somebody else late night. We found leftovers of food and roaches behind the freezer. Front desk didn't apologize adequately.
Concierge was snooty
Beautiful grounds, staff was great, beds were quite comfortable Breakfast buffet a little pricey
staff restaurants romance spa yoga ambience overall fabulous
Service was excellent, two bedroom suite with soak tub was superb in every way!! I would recommend a car because near the resort there are limited restaurants and things to do
Impeccable service!! The service alone would bring me back! Gorgeous views! Beds were so uncomfortable. We didn't get a good nights sleep either night we were there and woke up with stiff backs.
Upon checkout I was hit with a $30/day resort fee that I was unaware of. I'm sure there was some fine print somewhere. Should be made more transparent.
Overall our stay was nice. The grounds were beautiful, the staff was very nice, and even the other guests were incredibly friendly. We enjoyed our time by the pool, the special touches such as fresh pineapple, constantly refilled ice water, cold towels, and sun glass cleaning were great. The Talevera restaurant was closed on a Wednesday night for a wedding (the night we checked in after traveling all day), and we were pretty bummed about that. We had rushed to get ready to have dinner on the patio for sunset to learn that the entire restaurant was closed for a private event. I don't think it's okay to close your main restaurant to hotel guests. Especially when it's mentioned as a feature for staying at the resort.
Luxury and Service in every aspect. Spectacular property with beautiful views all around. Attentive Staff and fantastic facilities.
Staff were friendly and accommodating. Beautiful resort.
The lobby music was our era. Decor is in orange, gold, avocado and very nice. Zuzus the onsite restaurant was outstanding. All the staff was professional and pleasant. The AZ driver John was very professional and pleasant. We travel with my husbands seeing eye dog and were accepted nicely. Highly recommend this hotel. The loud music at the pool was not era but modern with a "bump bump" sound. Great for young couples but not for us seniors. No surprise here! The poolside rooms were well insulated so it wasn't an issue.
Unique hotel with great style. Comfortable and relaxed.
space is cool but as with most of these boutique hotel projects reconstruction is starting to show wear there is a new giant building project going on across the road and they start construction at 7:00 am checked in after hours took us three attempts to get our room even gave us keys to someone elses room by mistake
The location and ease. Our sink was clogged when we arrived.
Great renovation with comfortable rooms and all amenities. WiFi was fair but should be improved. Pool area needs staff to remove cig butts and not pour drinks out in seating area around pool...unsanitary and lazy. Some bar tenders made people wait a lot longer for drinks at bar where as wait staff were good.
Reservation and check in process was seamless; especially appreciated ability to check in early after international travel. Lobby smells incredible: reminds me of Hawaii and soap/shampoo/etc in room also smelled wonderful. Love the overall decor and retro vibe of hotel, plus pool is one of my absolute favorites: ample seating, great sun and great bar (service and prices)! While valet was wonderfully helpful and overall service fine, after finding a small roach in bathroom and being surprised by cost of daily valet (that it wasn't included), I felt a little underwhelmed by value. I travel often for business and this certainly didn't meet my elevated expectations of luxury or service.
Beautiful pool area and roof top living space. Good workout room. Location is excellent. It's NOT a luxury resort as the name used by the rental property management company would imply. It is an apartment complex called "Liv" in North Scottsdale. There is no restaurant, maid service or other amenities one might expect at a "resort.". It's simply an apartment building. The implication that it is somehow a "luxury resort" is incorrect and very misleading.
Rooms were very nice and modern and had floor to ceiling windows. I really liked the design and the rooms are designed creatively so each room has somewhat of a corner window. The shower was also very nicely designed and roomy. The atmosphere of the hotel was excellent. Elevator music and pool music were all excellent. There are pool parties on Saturday afternoons, I guess it's a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you're looking for. It was a little too "college-y" for my tastes. I would have preferred something a bit more "lounge-y" but that's just personal preference. If you're planning on enjoying the pool, don't go on a Saturday as everyone is packed in like sardines. Front desk staff was not very helpful upon first arriving. There was a line and a 2nd staff member came up and stood at her desk. She looked right at us and then proceeded to just stand there. It took us asking if she was open to get her to help us. Also, they need to update their in room audio systems, they were only compatible with iPods and iPhones with the old 30 pin connectors. Seriously guys? That was 4 years ago. Use a more standard format like audio line in or Bluetooth so everyone can enjoy. Water pressure in the shower was not the greatest. It was barely even coming out toward the end of my shower.
The location was solid. Right in the middle of all the clubs and bars. The concierge was wonderful. She rocks. B The Mega Suite and the additional rooms were dirty. It was pretty gross. Stains and uncleaned furniture. The customer service was the worst I've ever experienced. We had a bachelor party and spent well over $5000 for two nights...you'd think they would go out of their way to make us feel special...complete opposite. They treated us like we were in junior high. They showed up with security guards to the Mega Suite (which is like a rockstar's second home) and made us leave because we were too loud. Keep in mind it was ten guys playing beer pong in a very large room (harmless) and the club downstairs was going full blast...strange that we were being too loud (we weren't). Initially they wanted to kick us out with no refund, but I kept calm and talked them down even though we were doing nothing crazy. At the pool, they treated us like crap as well. It was very odd. The whole staff out there felt super entitled...it was so lame. I've been to a decent number of clubs and the attitude here was bad...definitely the worst for a hotel. Had I known you can't hang out in the biggest "party" suite and actually party...I would have gone to a different hotel. Make that clear before people stay at your hotel. Finally...news flash...you're a hotel, not a club. You're goal is make your guests feel welcomed, not harassed. The GM at this hotel was the worst of them all. Time for the W chain to clean up management at this place. He has let this hotel fall to 1-2 star level. Absolutely awful.
We planned same day travel and we were met with friendly staff, beautiful grounds and many amenities. It was a perfect quick trip for golf, spa, pool and relaxation. It is close to neighboring shops and dining!
The linen in the room had an old stinky smell. I think we just gotna room thatbwas either not used for a very long time, or linens on the bed (including bath robe) that were old. It was very uncomfortable for me to sleep in that bed. They just need to make sure their linen are fresh! I pais over $200/night for a stinky bed.
Beautiful hotel with view of amazing gold course. Nice paths to walk on. Lazy river. Heavenly bedding is so comfortable. Quick check in and out. We had the free breakfast buffet included. Delicious!. Great shops and restaurants nearby, Our room was one of the few with a view of a wall. Disappointing. Our first day, we left the room for 6 hours only to come back and the room had not been cleaned.
Adult pool is great, staff is professional and very accommodating. The grounds are in prefect condition. The spa is on the smaller side compared to the other resort spas in the area. Park in the self parking for free other wise you pay for the valet service. The resort is right across the street from Keirland Commons (great shopping) the resort offers discounts at most of the stores in the commons. Make sure you check in with the concierge to get the discount brochure. Nice gym Free wifi in the lobby but only for an hour each day.
I am fine I stayed at the Vilas last year. -2009 My hotel room had a lot of webs and the walls were dusty and there were wayto many cock roaches we saw three and caught one for the exterminator
The hotel is staffed by professionals who know how to deal with the public. Every detail is taken care of. Our room safe needed to be replaced, and, (due to our inconvenience) we were given a bottle of wine. (Not necessary, but a nice gesture.) Their Hotel Manager should run United Airlines, he could teach them a thing or two about customer service and bedside manner.
The pool area gets a 10. The lobby gets a 10. The rooms get a 6. The mattresses are cheap motel quality, which is regrettable.
Pools and facilities are superb Wifi sketchy, rooms a bit dated
The grounds are beautiful and enjoyable. The dinner menu options are limited.
The staff were all super friendly and helpful. The pool is beautiful with attentive staff poolside. The restaurant at the hotel was delicious.
I liked the location. It was close to Scottsdale Fashion Square, restaurants and bars. The pool was nice and has late hours, and the rooms had doors that opened up to your own private patio. I agree with others that have said you're paying for the location. Overall... I've stayed at equally priced, if not cheaper, hotels with better customer service, hotel amenities and accommodations. The pool is open from 6 a.m. to midnight. That's great except they closed the bar around 6 p.m. and you had to walk into into the hotel lobby bar to order drinks (per the pool bar staff). I would have liked to dry off before walking into the hotel lobby for a drink, except they ran out of towels. We asked twice for towels and they the pool/bar staff said the towels were on their way. We never got any towels. The only great service we received was from the guy at valet. I will not be booking at this hotel again.
I never leave reviews. But given the price of this 'resort" I thot important to leave a comment. At checkin they told me $25 will be added for amenities - I was thinking like spa and other advanced features. He said no, its for parking, pool use and internet. Things you'd think would be included with the base price I was paying already. I just said ok and paid. In my room my internet was so poor I could not open a proposal I had to review for the next day - instead being prompted to upgrade for faster internet at 14.95! I left and went to a Starbucks to complete my work. Later that night I was in my room and a dog next door started barking non-stop.I called the front desk and they had no other place to put me... but did offer me a refund and could leave if Priceline approved. Which they did approve. So I left. They need to reassess things. I would have put up with these things if it were a Motel 6 - which it was far from. Never again.
I was very displeased with how the resort presents themselves on their website versus what this was in reality. Nothing close. It was NOT worth the price that we paid!!!
I enjoyed the Spa because the staff was very kind and mellow. After the found out it was our anniversary, they upgraded our room to have a king size instead of two queen beds. They also sent chocolate covered strawberries to our room. This visit was more exciting because of the Spa. The hotel was only decent and a bit dated. I didn't like the already included gratuity charge, costing around 25% of my already expensive Spa package. The hotel room was decent but they aren't very modern. Hotel towels are rough and over-bleached from years of use. Housekeeping left trash from previous visitors in plain view. Also a bummer that this hotel hasn't upgraded to free continental breakfast like many others.
Close enough to stadium, great area to bike, easy walk to dining, shopping & stadium. shuttle for guests need lights on bikes
The location was great and the hotel offered a shuttle to anything within a 3 mile radius! Tip required Wish the empty glasses in the common areas were picked up more often.
Bar, restaurant, staff, spa, room, room service Not a single thing!
Newly renovated The Breakfast was better when it was made to order
We'all return since the room and food were exceptional.
The room renovation is beautiful. The living room couch is a very comfortable - sectional with a chaise. One of our friends slept on it and felt it was fine. The beds, bedding, and pillows were delightful. There was good storage for clothes. The little kitchen was great for snacks. Even in the temporary tent, the breakfast was good with a variety of choices. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There were snacks at happy hour in the past, but not now. Perhaps that was due to the construction and the tent. There were a couple of little things in the bathroom: a second towel bar would be helpful and the soap dish became gooey and watery.
Under construction did not tell anyone !
Inadequate warning about MAJOR construction. Was placed in a room directly adjacent to constant jackhammering; no joke. I travel for a living, and this was the worst hotel experience in history. That said, the rooms are great, and this will be a good hotel once the conversion to Embassy Suites is complete. DON'T STAY UNTIL THEN. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
The breakfast could have been better , it was much better I recall Breakfast
The room was nice. Good comfortable bed. Limited parking closer to the rooms due to construction when the hotel is busy. Great breakfast. Friendly staff Limited parking due to the construction. I had to park far away but it was only 1 night
The suites were great if you're traveling with kids. The renovations to the inside of the rooms were done well. The complimentary breakfast saved us money. This will be a great place to stay once the renovations are complete.
Great Front Desk staff. They worked hard to make things as comfortable as possible during the renovation. Great location. Very nice remodel. Shower did not work. Maintenance staff tried 3 times to fix it to no avail. Made the stay very uncomfortable.
wifi did not work, tv not HD, need many upgrades to charge the prices they do, rooms were nice, staff was great, happy hour and breakfast good
Property should disclose on-going renovations are taking place. Bar and restaurants were closed with a very poor make-shift tent set up in their place.
The rooms are very nice, spacious with comfortable beds. The breakfast was good with many options. The tent for the food and bar was not an issue. It works very well and is very comfortable. Parking and unloading can be a challenge on a busy Saturday night.
