BEWARE OF PREPAY!!!!!!! DON'T EVER PREPAY A CAR RENTAL!!!!!!
Cons: We prepaid rental fee for convenience and value; HOWEVER, we incurred health issues forcing us to shorten our stay in Europe....(We rented the car in Vienna, Austria, and were to return it to Prague). We had to return the car early in Vienna....on August 3, instead of returning it in Prague on August 6. We were told there could be no adjustment to the cost, because we had prepaid, and since it cost us less to rent, there could be no adjustment for days not used. Also, the fact that the car was returned to Vienna , rather than Prague (increased fee incurred for return to a different location).....no adjustment or refund could be considered. Staff at Sixt said that that information was in agreement; however, was not clearly stated. So, this company was able to rent this car for double fees for 3 days, plus retained the fee for return to different location, when, in fact, the car was returned to original site of rental. I believe that the public should be made aware of the fact the prepaying can cost MORE money rather than saving. We have travelled to Europe many times to visit family in the past 20 years, and, fortunately have never had to shorten our trip due to health issues. The Sixt staff was very curt and unsympathetic, telling me that there was simply nothing that could be done because of the prepayment/lower cost factor. Final comment: IT DOESN'T PAY TO PREPAY! BUYER BEWARE!!! Also, staff at return counter extremely unfriendly. Also, "Top off coolant" alert present on dash entire trip... telephoned for advice...was told it was OK to drive unless engine got hot, and were told to monitor the water level in the radiator.....THIS IS ONE UNHAPPY CUSTOMER!

Pros: The car was easy to drive and clean. Drop-off crew was friendly. Great gas mileage on the car.
Cons: We paid for a GPS system which we couldn't use due to the language setting not functioning properly. We adjusted the language setting to English, but it continued to be in German and we couldn't understand or use the system. It caused a LOT of stress and problems for us, and when we told SIXT about the issue upon arriving to drop off the car, they didn't care at all. We paid for a feature we couldn't use by no fault of our own and I was disappointed in their lack of attention to our concerns and frustration. I am also disappointed in the fact that I bought the suggested insurance on the SIXT website only to be told that it didn't really provide any "real" coverage according to our customer service representative and she really insisted that we had no coverage all and needed to purchase this other insurance in addition to the one we already had. Why not offer this "real" or "all inclusive" insurance on the website when you're confirming the rental of the car instead of at the rental shop? It was a dubious move on their part and I was extremely frustrated that I implemented all suggestions prior to pick up, and then when it came time to get the car, suddenly it just wasn't enough coverage. Very questionable, but you're in a vulnerable position at that point...what can you really do?
