We booked thrifty via a third party so we could pay in advance and when we arrived there were so many people there to pick up a car that we were put on a wait list, only to find out they ended up running out of cars (lucky we had gone to a different place to see if we could get one, although we paid over double what the original rental from Thrifty was meant to be). The employees at Thrifty Albuquerque were apologetic and tried to help, but said there was nothing they could do because the third party companies reserve cars without knowing the amount of inventory available. Whether this is a Thrifty problem, or a problem with the rental car business (esp 3rd party) overall, I’m not sure but it shouldn’t be this way and I’ve never had this problem before, so there should be some oversight for car reservations - especially those that have been prepaid as we are now having to fight with the third party (Qeek) to get our money back.Reviewed 9 Sept 2024

The price doubled when I picked it up. From $213 to $473. Due to taxes, Concession fees, Registration recovery fees. Other fees not listed. Why lie? Just say exactly how much it is. Why would I use Kayak again if you don't tell the truth? The car was fine, Great in fact. Doesn't change the experience of lying when making a reservation. Strange practice.Reviewed 7 Sept 2024

Double charged (not pending holds--actual charges) and still waiting for a response from the company. Many pre-trip messages insisting that I should check in online to "skip the desk and go straight to the car." Fortunately I didn't do that, because upon arrival, numerous unhappy travelers were turned away at the garage and sent back to the desk to check in. There were physical signs everywhere asking people to check in online and go straight to the garage. Terrible treatment at the desk. The person lied and said, verbatim, "We only have electric cars right now." and asked if I needed instructions on how to find charging stations. I insisted on a gas car and suddenly he was able to make one available--for twice the price we had reserved online! Don't lie to me and say there are not any gas cars then. Bad service in general too. He asked me how to spell my name WHILE actively holding my photo ID, and then later asked "What kind of card is that" after I had paid. (He meant Visa vs. Mastercard, which, again, you have my card. Stop wasting my time.) Car center console was dirty with brown sticky residue. Horrible experience start to finish, and I'm still not even finished since I'm still waiting for the charges to be corrected.Reviewed 6 Sept 2024

It was the worst of my life. They made me get the service of another company. Plus they didn't give me the vehicle until after 2 1/2 hours. Now they say we messed up their car. It's the worst.Reviewed 4 Sept 2024
