The staff was professional but heavy handed on the upselling despite Thrifty shorting me the car I signed up for. Thrifty “did not have” the car I rented (RAV4) and so I got stuck with a Kia. I was told they could “try to look for one but it’s unlikely there are any.” The extra-fee/skip the line/go straight to your rental app wasn’t working. The requirement to go to the desk to check in was probably for the heavy-handed upselling of additional coverage even though I already had coverage from my own insurance (I was told it would just be easier that going through my insurance). As soon as I got there, they didn’t have any cars, except an upgrade for an additional 145.00$. Of course! Spend more money-so gross how these companies are able to do this time and time again.Reviewed 22 Apr 2026

We showed up and the company tacked on $250 worth of additional fees and insurances. We had not budgeted for that. We were quoted $230 and paid $470. It was absolutely unbelievable. Additionally, the car was mediocre at best. Will not be renting with this company again.Reviewed 19 Apr 2026

Agent was dishonest and insisted that I needed to add insurance by Florida state law. Argued with me for almost 5 minutes. I needed the car so I conceded. Then called customer service to address the issue and they could not help me. Will never rent from Thrifty or Dollar again.Reviewed 10 Apr 2026

Even though my vehicle was reserved and prepaid for when we arrived at the airport early in the morning there was no vehicles available. We had traveled all day and arrived after midnight and looking forward to getting some sleep. When we got to the rental counter the line was roughly twenty people long and we were all told they were completely out of vehicles and had nothing to give anyone... Had to wait in line at other companies to get something to use for our trip. Then the refund process was about the worst because I had prepaid they didn't want to return any money. Took many emails and phone calls to get anything done and finally receive a refund. Don't rent from them!Reviewed 10 Apr 2026

What a scam. The rental cost I locked online more than doubled after they added their fees and CA taxes - the counter agent also lied and said liability was required in CA but it’s not if you have your own. She also said it was cheaper to have them refuel. Not even close. I am waiting for a resolution but wouldn’t rent from them again.Reviewed 3 Apr 2026

I was told I'd have a large van and was given a mini-van. The cost I agreed to was in the $900 range. I called ahead to be sure they had the van and also that they confirmed the price. When I arrived to pick it up, after waiting nearly 2 hours in line, I was charged upwards of $1600. I would never have agreed to this and found another option, however, my family was all arriving that day for a very important event and all of it depended upon having a van - and the van we received was not large enough and did not match the van that I reserved online.Reviewed 31 Mar 2026
