Pros:

The staff were able to answer all of my questions quickly, whether over the phone or through their online messaging system. Make sure to ask about SLI, aka car insurance, as there are different options and it can be somewhat expensive. Overall, I had a great experience and will be returning to Dollar car rental the next time I'm in Costa Rica!

Cons:

AVIS added a mandatory fee for insurance that was equally high as the advertised rental price. It doesn't make much sense to advertise a price for a rental if it's not possible to rent the vehicle for that price or anything close to it.

I never rented the car with them. When we arrived the man who were on the Avis front desk at Crowne Plaza Corobicí Hotel decided that he didn’t want to rent the car to us. So we never got the car and it was a big problem for us and our family vacation.

The kayak price was way off. The actual price of the rental came to nearly 4 times the kayak quote for the reservation. Will never use kayak to rent a car again.

KAYAK
We accidentally booked the car at the location 30 minutes away. The employee quickly identified the issue and they found us a car at the airport location. They did this by letting us take a reserved car and driving a replacement car up from the further location. No hassle and no extra charge. They were way more accommodating than what I have experienced in the US.
