Costa del Silencio is a popular beach resort on the Spanish island of Tenerife. Located on the most southern tip of the island, Costa del Silencio has much to offer its visitors including spectacular sea views, a volcanic mountain landscape and plenty of sunny, warm weather.
The sub-tropical climate of Costa del Silencio allows for hot, dry summers and mild winters, making it a popular holiday destination all year round. Any time of year would be ideal to plan your Costa del Silencio holidays, as temperatures rarely drop below 20 degrees Celsius. The easiest way to arrive is by flying in to Tenerife Sur Airport, located just twelve kilometres from the resort. There are plenty of taxis and a regular bus service departing from the airport that can transfer you to the Costa del Silencio within fifteen minutes. The time zone is GMT+1.
Although the Costa del Silencio has no swimming beaches of its own, there are many beautiful coves and inlets to explore along the shoreline. Overlooking the Costa del Silencio is the famous Montaña Amarilla, meaning Yellow Mountain. This spectacular volcanic rock formation is a great area for hiking and is also a popular scuba diving site. For those interested in sports, there are tennis courts, bowling greens and a golf course available on your Costa del Silencio holidays.
The Playa de las Galletas is the nearest swimming beach and is reached by a short ten minute walk along the promenade. It is a black sand beach with warm gentle waters, perfect for swimming with small children. This natural habour is surrounded by plenty of bars and cafés and is renowned for it's excellent fish restaurants. Here you can also board a catamaran tour or try watersports such as diving or surfing.
