I never received any kind of receipt for my return as they said they would email me. I never got that either and had to go online to get my receipt. I was overcharged by $1000! I called Avis customer service but no one could help me because it was an international rental. I plan to stop payment with my credit card company on this.Reviewed 30 Sept 2026

The attendant at Rome airport insisted that I purchase extra coverage which more than doubled the cost of the rental. I was quoted $1300 and the cost was over $2600. We asked how we can lower the cost and only purchase what was required and she said the $2600 was the lowest prices in order to cover the mandatory charges. When we dropped off in Bari the attendant said that we did not have to purchase many of the things we were charged for.
