The location of this hotel is excellent. They are renovating their rooms, which were looking a little tired. The staff is helpful, despite the limited amount of English spoken. Maps in a Western language available at the concierge would be helpful.
Tidiness and staff was quite helpful. The hot water treatment and shower facilities were attractive The water of the swimming pool was cold. Conciege people didn't know well except booking coach bus. The location was near the end road so it was hard to get taxi and the staff didn't help much. Choose this hotel if have arrangement prepared for car or know the way to subway to get around.
The staff was great, especially a guest relations manager at the front desk named Rex. He helped me transfer to a new room that was much better than the first one. I also liked the doorman. I don't know his name but he was from Shihjiazhuang. The hotel has a crazy layout and a noisy and unpleasant lobby. It's a very long walk from the front desk to the elevator. My room was very small despite the fact that I was told that as a Platinum member I got an upgrade. It was also 83 degrees with no way to lower the temperature. A real nightmare. I complained and was moved to another room that was cooler because it had two big windows that could be opened. The staff told me that they have this problem every Spring and every Fall when the temperature control systems are too hot or too cold compared to the outside air. Also, the executive lounge is in the lobby and very noisy.
I was upgraded to Executive Room upon checkin, a pleasant surprise as I was told the room was slightly bigger than the room I have booked. Room was tastefully decorated, the Ipod deck make the difference as I could just plug in my Ipod and enjoy my music in the room. Hotel was within 5 minutes walk to subway and train station, and is within 10 minutes taxi ride to Forbidden City and CBD area. Perfect! the in-room internet charge of RMB 120 was a little too high, could have been complimentary.
The location is not very convenient and services do not correspond to a five star hotel.
It is widely spread hotel, with all lavish and grandeur in interiors.Stay, food, service level is upto the mark. na
The relaxed atmosphere in the public areas. The executive lounge and the dining options.
We enjoyed the spa and swimming pool. And the staff was very helpful and very service minded. We did not like that a place like the Marriott turned off the air conditioning ,in the beginning of October, during the evening. We woke up sweating and that was not a pleasant experience for us. Our room was approximately 25 degrees celsius and we felt that was too hot. We called the service manager and he stated that they turn the ac off due to Chinese customers complaining that its too cold, Never mind the fact that there is a thermostat in each room so that everyone can control it.
First of all, I was tried to be cheated on check-in. They pushed me to sighn on bill with double price. Then my room was very hot, stincky from smoking, and poor furnushed. And dirty. Stayed one night- and gone. Never will be again.
Better breakfast focused also in Europe travellers like before
breakfast, hotel staff availability, services
It was a great oppurtunity to experience the real Beijing as you have to walk down the hutong past the local to access the hotel. We also enjoyed the dining room food and atmosphere. The ability to hire a computer with internet access was very affordable and conveinient. Some people smoking in non-smoking areas, Beds were very very hard!
Nothing This was the worse hotel I have ever stayed in and would never recommend it to anyone and it was totally misrepresented on the website. I have filed a compliant.
Helpful and pleasant staff. When I asked for a room change because of cigarette smoke odor, I got it immediately. Clean facilities, although the walk in through the hutong is a little gritty. A staff member came out to meet me at a restaurant near the hutong entrance and walked me in. Hotel is very near a subway station: Beijing Railroad Station (line 2 subway). Electric kettle available in room but now fridge. No elevator access to my fourth floor room. The hotel is not easy to find. Most taxi drivers will drop passengers at the entrance to the hutong where the hotel is located (a short walk in). It is wise to get the address of a nearby landmark to tell the driver.
the hotel reception was very good and helpfull, helping with difficult travel arrangements during the spring festival. the computer in the room was a good bonus I was able to loan a plug addaptor at no charge. the breakfast was plentyfull if very chinese the room was far too hot and opening the window was useless as it opened into a bar area. there was a slight sewage smell in the toilet ( not unusuall in china )
For me very important location.
value for money
Exceptional value for the money. Great location, great restaurant in the hotel is very convenient and reasonably priced. Staff was very helpful. Beds were very clean and large, but were not terribly comfortable. Perhaps this is just a matter of taste, but they were very firm.
Very close to the central train station and the metro It is not easy to find, especially for taxi driver, so if you are going to take a taxi to the hotel upon arrival in Beijing, I would recommend phoning the hotel and getting a member of staff to give the taxi driver directions. There are no lifts at the hotel so we had to carry our suitcases all the way down two flights of stairs. The level of English amongst the staff varied and not as good as I had expected, but for the basics they were fine.
The hotel is central situated and close to the Subway, Tiananmen square and the shopping-street Wangfujing. We got bottled-water every day and the hotelrestaurant served good and reasonable-priced dinner. It is right next to a Police-station,so the area is safe. We arrived in a peiod of refurbishing and was not told when we checked in. We had booked an apartment with two bedrooms for 3 weeks. After a week we were told two move in to two separate rooms on the very same day without any compensation. It´s not easy getting a 2bedroom-apartment in Beijing or connecting rooms, and we booked it because we wanted to stay together as a group. We really had to argue with most of the staff and the manager before we came to an agreement.Their lack of English made it worse to communicate. In the hotels ad on internet, they said that the guests have cooking-possibilities, this is not true!! You only have a tea-/coffee-maker!!!!!!!
this is beijing's best-kept secret! superb location (6 minute walk to the subway: railway station), delicious buffet breakfast (rich in veggies), nice staff, great bargain, safe (60 feet from the police station, i counted the steps!). not in a slum area as what others contended, but in a hutong. TV not working, but i did not care since i was out most of the time anyway.
