It is very convenient to the lake steamer, the Swiss National Railways station, and the station of the narrow-gauge mountain cog railway. I felt at a disadvantage because I didn't / don't speak German
Great view of the lake and across from the rail station. No services after 11PM. Old and small t.v. with only CNN available in English.
The central location permitted ealking to all points of interest in the area. A minor problem was the traffic noise because we like to sleep with windows open.
The location is superb. The room was clean with all necessary amenities. Staff was often busy and unavailable.
The staff were fantastic, the breakfasts generous, the location gorgeous and convenient to transport. I was surprised how quiet Brienz is out of season, but it was a very enjoyable stay.
Weisses Kreuz is very conveniently located right by the railway and bus stations and the pier (boat trips on the lake) and the start of the Brienz Rothorn Bahn. Our room was at the back overlooking the steam-powered Rothorn Bahn - great for children and railway buffs - and who could object to being woken by the sound of a steam engine? (they don't run frequently, so not a huge problem). Although the parking space is a bit limited, it does not have to be reserved (contrary to what the website says). The dining room usually seemed a bit understaffed - often only one waitress trying to do everything, including washing up behind the bar. Our bathroom extractor fan didn't work and didn't get fixed (though I have to admit we only reported it the once, partly because of the language problem) and there were a number of minor housekeeping problems - not worth complaining about, but detracting from our sense of value for money. The hotel advertises free wi-fi: it accepted the code but neither I nor another British guest could get it to work. I didn't bother to report this (language again!).
Nice view from the room on the lake side. Best location to ride Rothorn Bahn and train to Interlaken. Nice staff. Breakfast was minimum level.
beautiful, peaceful location no
great staff~ very helpful in 3 languages...
It was our first stay at this Hotel which we chose because of its location close to the Äareslucht". We stayed at teh hotel with friends. And were pleased on all points: rooms with balcony at lake-side, and a second room under the roof. The second room was more modern, which we liked, and had a nice view on the lake, and a modern bathroom. The hotel is a real family run hotel, even with a very personal newsletter composed by the owners in teh info map (other than the usual touristic info): in all very pleasant and friendly atmosphere. Dinner and breakfast on a terrace with splendid lake and mountain view. Sufficient parkingspace is available right.
Nice & spacious rooms. Rooms are clean but the carpet is not. Staffs do not nicely communicate. Expensive for the kind of services delivered and the given grade.
Breakfast,lake views, wireless
We liked the friendly atmosphere in the hotel and the comfort of the room we had. Can't think of anything we didn't like.
clean and comfortable pesky flies in the room, street noise
The breakfast was nice - lovely spot. Most of the staff was very helpful. We liked the location of the hotel and the possibility of using the bikes. We were disappointed that the three person room we had did not look like the one on the internet picture. We had a cot which was not comfortable. We had hoped to have the room that had a living area with a couch in it that converted to a bed. This felt like false advertising.
Excellent location and wonderful staff.
The hotel staff, owner Peter and wife Erica >> and their daughter. Peter and Erica provided us a wonderful stay and took us up to a near village to research my wife's ancestry (Weissenflu). I will never forget the hospitatlity and wonderful stay they afforded us. Sp personable! Not one!
The location was very good, close to the Ballenberg outdoor museum and to the mountains. In the promotion of the hotel it mentions that families with children are welcome, but our impression was that the personnel very much disliked children, which made our stay at the hotel fairly uncomfortable.
Hotel staff were very friendly. Hotel on the outskirts of Brienz but only a short walk from the scenic lakeside and 15 mins from the centre of town. Free parking.
Brienz is a lovely town so being able to spend some time there was fantastic. The hotel had plenty of information about things to do in the area, which was useful. The room was nice and the breakfast was very good.
Location, restaurant facilities
Very nice place, the lake, the mountains No
it was the lovely hotel , and i was enjoy to stay my vacation there , and i'll go to there when i want to visit Brienz again..
Hospitality, friendly employees, decent impression
Friendly staff and good location Very small bathroom
the staff were very welcoming and pleasant, the buffet breakfast was complete and delicious The room comfort did not match the wonderful charm of the hotel.
I enjoyed my stay over there. The view of the glacial lake, the coziness of the room and the friendliness of the staff may my stay very comfortable.
the location sea view train noise the brake fast was very stantert and very hot no air condation
Clean, nicely appointed rooms. Great view from balcony. Somewhat out of town. ok if your driving, but too far for a convenient walk.
The food was good and the view was nice. The service was good as we always got a table nearest to the water. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom clean. The room was a bit too small for two adults and two teenage children . The beds weren't very far apart so we walked into the bedposts a lot.
nice location by lake internet "broken", room not very nicely furnished and crowded. Strange smell on hall.
nice location & beautiful area. Food was very good & room was big compared to the hotel room we had in Paris Only challenge is for North Americans to get use to no AC, it was hot and muggy while we were in the area.
We enjoy the view No' the hotel is excellent
The friendliness of the owners and the hospitality and the comfort and cleanliness
Rustic and homely. Staff friendly and very helpful. We were accommodated over a period that most hotels were closed but the service was still of high standard. Smoking in the bar/dining area.
Very friendly staff, nice and very clean rooms, excellent food and a very nice and relaxing view The train passes by directly behind the hotel which means that every now and then there is a noise when the train passes by
Beautifull modern renovated hotel in the centre of Meiringen, with very friendly and helpfull staff. Great breakfast buffet and a fine restaurant. Our room was light, clean and pleasant to stay in. We would definitely recomend this hotel! A little fridge in the room would have been nice and the diner prices in the restaurant are relatively high. Because of perfect location in the centre it's easy to find an alternative restaurant nearby.
Center of village, staff attitude, close to tourist atractions, parking, clearness of room' rich breakfast room size very small
The hotel is kept very clean and in a good location to explore the surrounding mountains and lakes. Ample free parking for guests. If you plan on eating in the restaurant or bistro make sure you bring a book or because you will be in for a long wait. The food is really overpriced (chf 40.- for 6 shrimps in a plain curry) and some of the serving staff can't seem to motivate themselves to be friendly to their guests. Although in their rooms they promote the local water to be the best in the world, don't try to order a glass of tap water in the restaurant (with a 2 course meal and wine), they won't like it and will tell you so whilst pushing for you to order expensive bottled water. The hotel lobby gets used as an office by the management tohave difficult meetings with their staff, which can lead to awkward situations in which the guests are asked to leave!
Attention to detail on everything that would make guests feel very comfortable, at home; e.g. plates of dried/fresh fruits and nuts in various places give a very warm welcome to guests. Simon's cuisine was definitely the best, something to look forward to after a day's outing in the Alps.
Clean hotel, great breakfast, friendly staff. Wish breakfast had started earlier so we could have caught an earlier train.
Clean, owner always about and helpful, good breakfasts, pleasant English speaking staff WiFi expensive and only available in reception area, limited parking, over priced
Good location for a stop over en route to elsewhere. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent as was breakfast. Staff were very friendly.
Ezcellent for dog owners We could only get luke warm water from the shower
excellent hotel, excellent service
clean, good restraurant got woke up at 5am by noise from other guests (or staff), noise continued for hours
view, food, pool main menu not translated
The view of the falls from our window balcony
honestly not much except proximity to cable car staff were a mixed bag. The one boiled egg looked too lonely to eat at breakfast and the staff didn't really care.
Good location (a short walk from the station and shops), plenty of storage space in the rooms, well equipped rooms (safe, fridge and electric stove).
