We had to change our drop off from Gatwick to Heathrow do to the airline canceling our flight and then rebooking us to fly from Heathrow... Avis accomodated...but for an added fee. Since Avis has a car rental site at both airports, a no added fee to drop off at a different airport would have been appreciated - particularly as we had no control over the flight change... Other than that - we were quite happy with our experience with Avis.

Pros:

The car was good and quite new. The counter was helpful.

Cons:

The price was very much more expensive than what I have seen in Kayak advertised. Not value for money, should have reflected when I booked in Internet.

I ended up paying more than double of the original booking price.

Staff were courteous. Main issue I had was the additional insurance I bought through Kayak which should have meant I did not have to take out any additional insurance with Europcar. Un less I gave a guaranteed credit card of $100k (which was not possible) then I was forced to take out Europcars CDW insurance as they refused to recognise the policy sold by Allianz from Kayak. Additionally the car had an alarm issue that wenbt off when the car was locked and it was impossible to contact the branch that I rented the car through. Overall not a good experience from both Kayak or Europcar.
