7.1 Good
Pros: Central, excellent breakfast and food. Well we are in Italy after all. Nice rooms. Loved the design, this is stylish designer work.
Cons: Reception could definitely make an effort and be more jovial, long shifts ? Ventilation is winter/summer that is to say it’s either heating or AC according to the time if the year. Can always open the window if too warm. Positive stay all in all, the excellent food makes you forget the odd AC and the slightly pretentious staff.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: New decorated room. Great breakfast, good garage facility
Cons: Hairs in the bathroom from earlier guests.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great stay, friendly staff
Cons: Breakfast, cleanliness and staff
7.5 Good
Pros: The newly renovated room was nice. Garage was handy.
Cons: Breakfast was nothing special and coffee was from a machine i.e. horrible. Some areas in need of renovation.

7.0 Good
Pros: Good breakfast selection. Complementary toiletries very nice.
Cons: Having to queue for a table at breakfast. Room could have been cleaner...still hairs in bathroom from previous guest!
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice staff, good price and comfortable rooms.
Cons: I liked it all. The only low note was because we were in family and booked 2 rooms, and one of the rooms was for disabled people.
4.0 Okay
Pros: location close to main city objectives.
Cons: the food was a basic offer for any dozen hotel. at dinner bufet for 25euros in Genova the only "secondo" existant was sausage, that is not even tipical Italian nor Genovese food. the tv in room was not working and at hrs 20:00 in the evening I had to call in someone to fix it. I paid 91euro for a service that was not great! the quality-price is not ok. is asking too much for the basic service offered.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Kid friendly. Spacious area on ground floor for kids. Safe parking area in basement. We were offered a discount and paid lower than the published rate. Gym well maintained. Restaurant was good. Many gluten free dishes were on offer for all meals. All staff were friendly. Special mention of the middle aged waiter (man with white hair) in the restaurant who had some interesting conversations. Made us feel at home. Bus stop only about 30 - 40 meters from the hotel and it gets you to the main tourist areas and city centre by direct bus.
Cons: Although bus stop is only 30 - 40 meters from hotel, you need to walk about 150 - 200 meters to the grocery store called "Tabachi" to buy bus tickets. Hotel can easily offer to sell the bus tickets at the reception.
7.0 Good
Pros: the bed was comfortable
Cons: the was no AC in the room just a heater, and even with it turned off during the winter, the room was super hot
6.3 Good
Pros: Good position for the nearby companies, I’d go closer to the centre for a tourist visit though, and nearer the airport could be better for some business visits. One of the barmen made FANTASTIC Margherita cocktails though.
Cons: No curtain on the (very small bath used as a) shower. The breakfast and evening buffet were nourishing, but nothing to get excited about, especially at the price of the buffet.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and spacious. The location was great, close to the aquarium, and only a short walk to the old quarter or the local train stations. Relaxing on the balcony of an evening was special.
Cons: Food service was a little slow due to being busy, staff apologised profusely but we still had to wait a long time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I stayed in this hotel by the recommendation of my friends, and I must say that the hotel is one of the best choices in Genova. First the ideal location in the old marina just a few steps from the must see places of interest. The room, breakfast and the view from the room is simply gorgeous. I also must appreciate the staff at the reception, in the restaurant and the cleaning ladies! Bravo!

Cons: Please have the chefs discuss how to prepare SCRAMBLED EGGS and BACON.... the eggs should be cooked, not soup and the BACON should be crisp NOT hard like plastic....but the rest was amazing the staff...the food ...the ambiances.

5.8 Okay
Pros: We were here just for one night. It seams that they have started to renew the hotel and it seems the it will be very nice soon. Nice bar and breakfast room.
Cons: Old furniture in the family room and stained carpet.
6.3 Good
Pros: The breakfasts were terrific - much more than we expected. And the staff was very polite and helpful. Plus the location is good and our room was quiet. But...see below
Cons: The hotel is overall very dingy with worn rugs and bad wall paint - everything needs an update. The elevators were ancient and worn out looking, but they worked and were fast. I can't recommend the hotel until it get a fresh coat of paint and some redecoration. Our room was also quite dark and pretty worn out looking.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good location.
Cons: There was supposed to be very nice breakfast buffet like in the pictures but they had renovations. So breakfast was one croissant, coffee and juice... When we asked how they can compensate this they give us 1,50€ (some tax payment) for free
4.0 Okay
Pros: Location perfect, as usual, being a stone's throw from the Piazza Principe railway station just at the very beginning of lovely via Balbi and its beautiful Rolli palaces. The unfailing kindness and attentiveness of the personnel who did their utmost, at all times, to put a patch when anything was sub-par or went wrong: hope this will be taken into account by the next management, because the people there really go the extra mile for customers! The fact that, as already known and tested via several staying throughout the years, it's a safe, central and convenient place to stay in Genova. The possibility to leave your luggage, free of charge, in a secure place when you have an early check in or late check out.
Cons: A few things but, as repeat returning guest, they really spoiled our time at the property this time: 1) The hotel is undergoing TOTAL (and I mean TOTAL) overhaul and refurbishment, due to a change of management and business scope. This means building works are all over the place: the top floors are already off-limits to travellers; the breakfast/dining room is "taped-off" from the main foyer and bar area (which now acts as breakfast room) by plastic sheets and ongoing works mean dust goes everywhere from around 10 a.m. to late in the afternoon. Dust and building materials appear to be carried up and down in the lifts which are in a sorry state too. NONE of the above was noted in the BOOKING site/form at the time of reservation. In itself it wouldn't have bothered us, but we felt that a warning should have been given for the heavy building overhaul, giving users the option to book (or not) whilst knowing there could be disruptions to the normal hotel services. 2) We booked two twin rooms. One of them was fine, the other looked as if it hadn't been cleaned properly at all: bathroom was fine but the moquette in the room hadn't been hoovered properly; one of the bed had stains on the coverlet; the other a big green stain on the otherwise white duvet. To top it all we found a half-full can of pepsi left on top of the shelving on the left. The unfailingly kind lady at the reception(thank you again) promptly offered us to change the room, which was clean and at the end we took. Sad mishap, as I had chosen the hotel to spend a weekend in Genova with friends as I'd always been pleased with its cleanliness! 3) Unlike all our other stays at the property (and we had many, from 2009 to 2017) we were given much smaller rooms than expected.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room furnishing was very spartan but the bed was quite comfortable . The bathroom was small with nowhere to place toiletries but the shower had a wonderfully strong jet of water. The location is excellent, very close to the station and underground and within walking distance of the historical centre.
Cons: Unfortunately the hotel was undergoing renovation and so the common areas were not clean. Because of the ongoing work breakfast was not available onsite and we were give a voucher for a bar across the road. This breakfast was typically Italian while I prefer a cereal and bread with cheese or ham so I was not happy about that.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Location, only.
Cons: Dirt room, walls dirt, heater extremely noice, lift extremely dirt, half of the hotel under renovation. The hotel should not run if is under renovation. The restaurant for the breakfast not available. They provide a voucher and send you beside street to a bar and there serve you only a coffee and only one croissant, practically you pay a breakfast and they give you a snack. They should not sell breakfast if cannot provide it.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was clean. Every thing worked. Breakfast was buffet with an excellent selection. Being booked in was fast an efficient and staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel location is very close to the station as well as the harbor and the waterfront area.
Cons: Hotel has 2 very small and old lifts. It can only take 4 people or 2 people with luggage. So when the hotel is full, getting up to your room can take quite a while.
6.2 Good
Pros: The reception people was very helpful and nice.
Cons: The room was small and the queen bed was made with two individual mattress, it is uncomfortable because you feel the division
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is a few steps from the Piazza Principe train station. The room and the bathroom are very large and clean. The service was good and the accomodation has an elevator which makes it easier if you bring heavy luggage.
Cons: The room had a small kitchenette without utensils. However, I think it would be more useful to have a microwave or coffee maker.
6.0 Good
Pros: very close to the center of the city and the train station
Cons: Very, very hard to find with GPS and a good sense of direction. Small hotel signage at the end of a busy one way street - with very limited parking. Good if you are walking or taking a cab - nightmare if you are driving.
NH Genova Centro - Genoa - Bar
7
8.5 Excellent (3,570 reviews)
Overview Reviews
In the heart of Genoa, the award-winning NH Genova Centro hotel beckons travelers seeking proximity to the city’s cosmopolitan culture and attractions, only steps away from Piazza de Ferrari and Villetta di Negro park. Built in 1850, the hotel, formerly known as the NH Genova Plaza, has an impressive history dating back to the days of Giuseppe Mazzini, the 19th century politician best known for his efforts in the unification of Italy. Nearby De Ferrari metro station and the Brignole and Porta Principe train stations connect the hotel to greater Genoa and destinations throughout Italy. NH Genova Centro artfully combines classic and contemporary style rooms. The 141 rooms offer free Wi-Fi, a minibar and flat screen TV, with some of the rooms overlooking the Piazza Corvetto. Guests can enjoy our healthy, extensive breakfast buffet, lunch or dinner at Villetta di Negro restaurant. The menu features a wide-ranging cocktail and wine list and Italian cuisine with a particular focus on Ligurian regional fare and national dishes. For those who are looking for a relaxing evening the hotel’s La Terrazza Bar invites guests for drinks and snacks. The 5 function rooms hold up to 130 people and can be equipped individually upon request.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room and the bathroom were clean, I found the wardrobe very convenient and the bed was very comfortable. Great breakfast!
Cons: Would have appreciated a slightly larger desk/table in the room.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast. Personnels very kind and helpful.
Cons: It was raining all day :-(
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, clean, good breakfast
Cons: Small rooms, no place for suitcase, quite a few stairs to the room - uncomfortable with large/heavy suitcase
7.0 Good
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the room very quiet.
Cons: The toilette in my room was without bidet.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is centrally situated in a good location. It is modern and very clean and seems to be a popular choice for meetings and events. The rooms are modern and our bed was extra large and comfortable. Breakfast is the standard hotel buffet of hot and cold dishes. The staff were all very friendly. There is a nice inviting bar area just above the lobby and a restaurant with a reasonable selection of meals. We chose to have dinner outside the hotel in the nearby "Bad Loser" restaurant and bar which was excellent both in quality of food and price. The hotel is very close to the Piazza Corvetto, Villetta di Negro and the Acquasola Park which is a good place to walk or, as in our case, exercise your dog. It is also an easy walk to the MOG and the main piazzas including Piazza Matteotti.
Cons: Although the hotel is "dog friendly" your dog is not allowed in the restaurant so breakfast has either to be taken in your room (which adds a rather steep additional cost for room service of 20 Euros) or if you are a couple each of you eats separately while one stays with the pet. While I understand not everyone approves of pets in the restaurant it would be helpful if a breakfast could be taken in the bar area just outside the restaurant, as the bar is not open at that time.
Best Western Hotel Moderno Verdi - Genoa - Building
8
8.5 Excellent (1,807 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The Best Western Hotel Moderno Verdi is housed within a beautiful historic building, which has been carefully renovated in the Liberty Style. This architectural style was so congenial to Genoa that the Florentine architect Gino Coppede spent a long time in the city to develop his own particular style taking inspiration from the Liberty and Art Deco Styles. The hotel design is characterized by elegance and attention to detail. The layout of the interiors and furnishings; the elegant fabrics and curtains; the exquisite burl wood paneling; and the clever play of indirect lighting; all combine to convey the warmth and hospitality of a private dwelling. The hotel is located close to the Genoa Brignole Railway Station, the airport and the International Fair. Reach the main theaters, the Palazzo Ducale, the aquarium, the convention center, the Porto Antico di Genova, the historic center, the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and the motorway within a few minutes. The Bandaranaike International Airport is just eight kilometers away. Since December 2012, the new Genoa Brignole Metro Station, right next to the hotel, allows you to quickly travel to the main points of interest of the city. The hotel is the ideal starting point for a business trip or for tourism and culture. The professionalism and courtesy of our staff will make guests feel right at home. Each of the 87 well-appointed rooms are furnished with care and elegance and equipped with amenities like high-speed broadband access, mini-bar, electronic safe box, air-conditioning, LCD televisions with Mediaset Italia cinema and foreign satellite channels and Premium Calcio Football Coverage, a hairdryer, telephones in the room and the bathroom, and a tub or shower to ensure our guests have a pleasant and relaxing stay. The on-site Rigoletto Restaurant featuring cuisine based on local specialties, the lounge bar, two lifts and a private underground parking garage watched by CCTV cameras make us an ideal hotel.
6.7 Good
Pros: Old style ambiance
Cons: Very dated room
5.7 Okay
Pros: Went to the hotel staff is very nice rooms not bad but not a nice area of the city never even stayed the night. Also didnt get a refund Had kids with me and not the best area to stay.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, easy access and wonderful staff
Cons: Parking was confusing, we were told one thing for the price and then charged another. When we brought this up we were told that the other employee spoke out of turn and we had to pay a higher price than the original quote.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was clean, beds very comfy, toilet was good, nice shower area. Good selection of snacks and drinks in the room fridge. Parking facility available in hotel basement and you will know once you park that why you have to leave the keys at reception::)). On arrival, if you do not know Genoa and first visit, its bit tricky to find the street to enter the car park, which is accessible via a back street. Best to look up google map first. The hotel is a at a big cross junction. You have to take the first bricked passage on the immediate right of hotel and then turn right on second street and immediately on your right after 20 meters may be , is the car park basement entrance. Most streets around are oneway. Please see photo added with directions.
Cons: The walk ways bit old, You cannot control your own room temperature and have to ask reception. No extractor fan in toilet. On arrival the gentleman who checked us in did not bothered to offer or give any information about breakfast, in fact did not gave any other hotel facility.
5.0 Okay
Pros: We got in really late so it's unfair to judge what is around the hotel, except to say there were only a few restaurants open when we arrived. The hotel itself was like staying in a hostel. Very, very, very small rooms. We chose not to eat the breakfa
Cons: Room size, weird parking arrangement, breakfast.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Rude service, 20+ mosquitoes in the room when we checked in. Did I mentioned really rude service? Poor location unless you just want to see the train station. Did I mention everyone was really rude?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is very helpful and friendly, location is great and the hotel offers very nice rooms , very clean .
Cons: Heating , needs to be improved. Air conditioning heat pump may be non sufficient, in full winter, to warm up the room, for a cpmfortable night sleep.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is good, the room is enough for 3 people.
Cons: There is a parking area that belongs to the hotel, but daily fee is expensive. It could be much reasonable price.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location is good for getting to most places easily Clean Parking across the road is available, more expensive, but if you’re using the car it works out cheaper overall
Cons: Tiny rooms Facilities are oddly located (tv, plugs, toilet, etc.)

6.0 Good
Pros: The location is very convenient
Cons: Took 30 minutes to do the check in and the staff was nog very apologetic The room wasn't very clean. One ofvthe towel in the bathroom was dirty from the previous guest and the floor in the bedroom hadn't been cleaned properly. Also the furnitures look a bit run down
5.7 Okay
Pros: Not much
Cons: Horrible WIFI. Bad coffee and not many healthy choices at breakfast. Terrible parking. Nowhere to unload the car, the parking is slow, Off site and expensive. The Brustol has no door person and this hotel needs one.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This whole place is like a castle. So elegant design with well made details. Everybody so loveable and helpful in the hotel. Amazing breakfast buffet and dining halls. The room was really clean and comfortable. Thank you for this great experience.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel, very clean, bed was comfortable. Great location as it's in the city centre and you can walk everywhere from there (restaurants, shops etc).
Cons: - It was not possible to rent an iron at the reception (only external laundry service which is not possible short term in the morning) - Single room had only a single bed (I prefer usually double beds or at least a little bigger single bed)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is ideal, a short walk away from major cultural sites and shopping. The pictures capture the hotel's elegance. Although the coronvirus scare had caused many cancellations, the hotel maintained fine service in all respects. Breakfast is more than adequate. The hotel provides great value.
Cons: I would have liked a better quality of bread and pastry at breakfast. How about some of the Genovese specialties?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What was not to love or appreciate!? The property is historically recognized, the furnishings and decorum is very french with New Orleanean music playing; the staffing is multi-lingual and warm, breakfast exceeds it value, the rooms are spacious and beautiful. This would be my priority to book if the rate is not too high, or if they are not fully booked.
Cons: It would be very nice to have a night cap at the bar but they close early - would love later hours at the bar.
7.0 Good
Pros: The architecture is spectacular.
Cons: The renovation works o going. The breakfast was poorly managed.

Pros: I really liked the fact that you can get entrance to the hotel next door. We really enjoyed the pool on the roof and the drinks were really nice. The room was neat and had a really good climate control unit. The staff at the hotel were also really professional.
Cons: The elevator was kind of a handful and small. However it got a certain kind of charm to it. The breakfast room was kind of boring and not so good breakfast. The dinner restaurant was really sad and the staff were kind of lost and didn´t seem to care about the guests.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: One minute to train station, beautiful hotel!
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Although booked with The Continental, we were in fact staying next door at Grand Saovia. We received a complimentary upgrade which was pleasant. All facilities were good and the breakfast was excellent. Spa, sauna and rooftop jacuzzi were great.
Cons: Only one thing to be honest, the fact that they allowed a guest to bring a dog is not the breakfast area for no apparently good reason.

4.5 Okay
Pros: Spacious room, nice towels
Cons: They turn off the air conditioner at night because they expect you to open your windows to the "cooler" air. The place is next to a port operating 24/7 loading and unloading cruise ships. Extremely noisy and bright lights all night. The windows are approximately 6ft long by 4 ft wide and you have to open the whole window. There were gale force winds coming in and blowing everything around. So there was either no air circulation with the windows closed or a wind tunnel with them open. The beds were too firm for our liking. Not a place to get a good night's rest.
6.2 Good
Cons: It was on the far side of the harbor. It was on the industrial western side. Most of the historic sites were on the eastern side.

Pros: The apartment itself is absolutely stunning, the room, one of 4 in the apartment was lovely and clean, a real modern place in such a old building. Emi and her daughter were very hospitable.
Cons: Being naive about the old town, after a long day travelling to find undesirables and woman standing on the corner of the next lane across made me feel unsafe and on edge about coming and going to and from the apartment.

Pros: Beautiful hotel and great spa area. Bed was very comfortable and It was great to have a bath. They provide bath salts, which is a nice touch.
Cons: The food in the room service wasn't to the high standard I expected. I suspect you'll get a better experience going to eat out or down in the restaurant. The receptionist resolved the small issues I had when I explained the above. So left feeling happy and listened to - the staff want to make your stay a lovely experience. Thank you.

Pros: The friendliness, the spaciousness, the care to help with our children's requests, the location.
Cons: Decoration was a little out of date. But, it was consistent. Wifi was a little spotty.
3.4 Mediocre
Pros: It was close to the train station.
Cons: Can't believe the price for what you get. SMALL room, very outdated furniture and fixtures. Two twin beds pushed together but they were different heights so didn't really make a double bed. I've stayed in hostels in developing countries that were nicer and more modern than this place.

Pros: Very conveniently close to the station and to the port area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a very good hotel. I had a wonderful view over Genova from my fifth floor balcony (don’t worry, there is a lift!). My room was air conditioned and en suite - it was cleaned every day. The hotel owners and their staff were friendly and helpful. I rate it very highly and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Pros: Great little family hotel and traditional, down quiet alleyway. The location is excellent, close to train station Piazza Principe, the airport terminal shuttle (Volabus) and easy to walk to the places of interest in the city (Museums, Palaces, old city, harbour) Good sized bedroom and bathroom for 2 people, clean and functional, with air conditioner. The breakfast was very good, lots of choice (fruit, croissant, bread, yogurts, cake, cereals, cheese, …….). The lady at breakfast was very friendly and she would make coffee, cappuccino according to personal preference. All the staff were very polite and friendly and keen to help in any way possible. It is a family-run hotel, with a friendly resident cat :) , where people care for the visitors. I would recommend this hotel and would have no second thoughts on returning.

7.1 Good
Pros: The hotel is in an excellent location and is close to both the historic centre and the old port, a stone's throw from the station of Piazza principe. The rooms are very nice and equipped with all comforts, in particular the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was nice too, even if small.
Cons: The private parking costs 15€ per day, less than the public parking along the road but still excessive in my opinion. The bathroom in the master bedroom is small and the hairdryer was not working. The TV was not working properly and some channels could not be seen.
