Was surprised to find out that my car rental was not at the airport location. I had to take an Uber to go to the rental location. It took a long time to get my rental car. There was no contact information available so that I could change my rental location or drop off location. I made a big mistake in renting my car thru Kayak.Reviewed 9 Feb 2025

Terrible experience. Didn’t have a car ready for me. Handed me the keys of the car turned in by the person next to me in line. Gas wasn’t full. Windshield was so dirty I could not see at night. And they were closed at my drop off time which no one ever mentioned. Had to drop it off at another hertz location.Reviewed 13 Oct 2024

The car I picked up was completely on empty and smelled so badly of Marijuana that it made me sick by the time I returned the vehicle in Orlando. It was also very dirty.Reviewed 21 Jan 2024

We reserved a truck two weeks ahead of time to help my mother move. Hertz features trucks on its website, complete with pricing. We got a confirmation email with a confirmation number. A couple of days before the rental we got another email, confirming the reservation and reminding us to pick up the truck. We got to the rental office at the appointed time and was told "We have no trucks." I showed them the reservation confirmation and the associate and another she called over both insisted they had no trucks. The pad on the counter that showed various vehicles available even featured trucks. They shrugged and said there was nothing they could do. another associate, overhearing the conversation, came over and said "Let me see what I can do." He began calling other hertz locations in the area and finally found one 30 miles away that had just had a truck returned. He asked them to hold it for us and we drove the extra 30 miles to pick it up.Reviewed 17 Nov 2022

Made a reservation through kayak for a rental car, went to hertz to pick it up and staff was terribly rude and told me they have no cars and to call kayak to get a refund. Employee barely looked at me as he was too busy playing on his phone.Reviewed 10 Jan 2022

Staff at Fayetteville were terrible. Greensboro staff was knowledgeable, but first car was not cleaned and ended up with electrical issues and we had to return to Greensboro. Lost over 4 hours on road to backtrack. Next car was also not sealed after sanitizing and was 1,400 miles and 5 months overdue for oil change. THIRD car was fine. Terrible car rental experience.Reviewed 30 Nov 2021
