8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location just outside the busy central area. Rooms good with great views. Staff cheerful and very friendly.
Cons: The free parking is not on site and if you have a lot of luggage, it's an effort getting to the site. We were on the first floor and knew we has some stairs to negotiate. However what we didn't realise, was that the building is considerably higher than the street/footpath level, so in fact our room level was the equivalent of a third floor level and we would not have considered it.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A truly lovely place to stay in Liskeard. Lovely big room with very comfortable bed in a Grade II listed nineteenth-century coaching inn on a quiet road close to the town centre. Private car park. Warm welcome from Debbie and Peter, who were kind and thoughtful and obviously love having guests. They made our stay so easy, printing off a map so that we could wander round Liskeard, recommending pubs and restaurants, offering umbrellas when it started to rain. Lovely big sitting room with warm fire, a bar if you want a nightcap – and Peter smokes his own bacon as part of a huge and delicious breakfast. Amazing hosts – Debbie even sent us on our way with apples for The Donkey Sanctuary in Ivybridge, which we were visiting on our way home. Five star recommendation. We’ll be back!

The Old Forge is an attractive room with a kingsize bed, seating for two and an ensuite shower room. A varied breakfast menu is offered, and is taken in our conservatory, with views across the valley, or may be enjoyed in the garden if the weather's fine. Room facilities include a flat-screen TV, hairdryer and a well-stocked hospitality tray offering a variety of hot drink options, water and biscuits. Towels and toiletries are provided. Breakfast options include a full English, including a vegetarian option, smoked salmon with scrambled egg, or lighter options such as a bacon sandwich or eggs on toast. Polperro has plenty to offer visitors, including six pubs that serve food (our nearest is a 3-minute stroll away), and a good choice of restaurants and cafes. There are many beautiful walks to enjoy, including the coast path, and boat trips to Looe and Fowey from the harbour. Pros: I loved the setting and found it very relaxing.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like we just wish that our friends had stayed with us. But there was no way on the site to see what rooms were available. It is very evident that they all get on well together which does add to the good feel of the hotel. The hotel was beautifully decorated ready for the Christmas period which made it look even more special. The food was lovely with a good variety of choice on the menu. We chose to eat in the hotel for our evening meals and couldn’t fault anything. I had a Butternut Squash Cheese Pasta bake one evening and it was lush. The breakfast was ‘Help Yourself’ with as much as you could eat cooked food along with tea, coffee, fruit juice and ice water served with a good selection of cereals, fruits, and toast. The room was spacious and clean along with a walk in shower. A comfy bed with decent pillows. Overall a lovely couple of days.
