I myself did not stay, I had booked for one of my bosses, but he came back strongly recommending the hotel for future use. Liked everything
Location The plug in the bath in the room got stuck and was unable to drain bath. After reporting this to reception it took far too long for anyone to arrive to fix. This they couldn't do so i had to take a shower in another spare room the following morning. Evening meal room service was poor - quality of food very disppointing and very expensive for what it was!. Overall there was very little feeling of any welcome from staff and politeness was not something they adhered to. Hardly any appology for inconveinec with room
Bed was gorgeous and the grounds & setting very smart, but relaxed not applicable
Friendly, warm and attentive staff without being intrusive. Qualityof food excellant
Excellent rooms and facilities. The restaurant was particularly good.
pleasent staff and very posh but comfortable hotel
over-pretentious chef. excellent quality, but too nouvel cuisine
Relaxing, Comfortable very well looked after, Very good food on both nights stayed. Hotel was fairly empty as booking covered the early part of the week
The location Limited menu
pleasant surroundings room smelt of strong disinfectant
helpfull staff, good food, easy parking no
Good value at £59 but not if if it was dearer Standards have slipped in last 3 years Breakfast not so good No biscuits in rooms Had the nerve to charge residents to park there!
No draught beer
Food okay Reception - bloody slow. Bar - cold and slow servioce.
The relaxed atmosphere and friendliness of staff.
We were close to the NEC (attending Crufts) Hotel easy to find, we were made welcome - no charge for our dog, (unlike most hotels/travel lodges). Breakfast delicious and service excellent! Had slight problem with leak on shower attachment (got soaked!) and bath taps a bit strange.
Good price, in a good location, it had very comfortable beds and pillows, nice fire in the bar. Buffet breakfast not great, the food was served too cold. And the temperature in the bar was too cold also.
Excellent value for money on the price we paid. Plenty of available car parking space. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location to Birmingham and walking distance to Touchwood shopping centre. Good breakfast and leisure centre. Its was cold. Very cold in the corridors and room was cold, as the heating system was not working. Vector heaters had already been given out, but extra blankets were delivered to our room very promptly. Only heating in the room was the bathrooms towel rail.
Lobby bar, reception service. No service at breakfast, cold plates, had to ask twice for tea, then had to get own cups, knifed forks ect... Off other tables, in view of waiters who did or said nothing. Room smelt damp and looked a little dated.
Peace and quiet of rural location Lack of staff and open reception on arrival.
The Limes provided us with a relaxed stay, a perfect room and a gorgeous breakfast. We will be definately staying there again.
friendly atmosphere no
Great location for Midlands business trips, helpful staff. Its for the independant guest and perfectly suits our needs.
Primarily its location. It was very quiet at night thereby ensuring a good night's sleep. The Limes is very dated and needs a bit of a refurb. Our room was far from clean.
very quiet - good access to the west midlands - friendly staff Ironically, no access to a hot breakfast
Comfortable bed. Nice breakfast, very healthy.
Fresh milk provided Website didn't make it clear that you needed to prebook continental breakfast. Hospitality basket had not been replenished from previous occupant so had to seek out someone for coffee etc. Was provided with cereal and milk for no charge as basket had not been replenished.Shower rather grimy.
Breakfast in our room no
The room was lovely and light and had a lot of facilities Staff were all lovely and helpful too Small refund made for staff entering my room while I was still in bed! No wifi which was advertised and a reason why I book hotels Tv reception terrible, most channels pixelated so badly you could not watch them Male staff walked in while I was in bed (on my own) apologised and left. Was a shock to me and he should have known I hadn't checked out.
Comfortable and well-equipped room. Ample and healthy breakfast. Easy to find. Easy parking.
Lovely bright and clean bathroom with big fluffy white towels. The bedroom was also smart and clean. Couldn't work out whether or not internet was available. The staff were OK but some of them didn't seem particularly interested in me as a customer. Others were great.
A very well equipped room at a price that was more than fair. Shame you have to pay for wifi access though.
Better than average room for the rate.
Convenient and friendly. Shame no food available other than breakfadst but excellent chinese opposite.
Courtesy of staff
The comfort and cleanliness, choice of a smoking room, the breakfast was very enjoyable with plenty of it Being on the 3rd floor on a hot day it was very stifling it would have been nice to have been able to hire a fan from the Hotel.
better pillows nice breakfast
Cost, cleanliness, acceptance of dogs Two bulbs blown in room
cleanliness of foyer and entrance looked impressive We were initially charged more than we booked on booking.com but this was resolved. The room we booked was not available on arrival and we were given a smaller disabled room with broken lights, very poor bathroom and brown stained towels
the height of the beds for children. too high
Excellent Breakfast (didn't have dinner) Friendly helful staff
Wonderful family run hotel. On arrival we recieved a very warm welcome and were given a beautiful room furnished in keeping with the Georgian period of the building. A nice modern bathroom with quality toiletries and a good power shower. The restaurant is very elegantly furnished and the quality of the food at dinner was fantastic. A little more expensive than average, but then this is not your average restaurant, worth every penny for a special night out. The owner is very passionate about both his food and wine. Excelent full english breakfast. This hotel was exaxctly what I was looking for as a weekend treat for my partners birthday.
Spacious, well equipped room. Very comfortable and clean. Nothing
The service is excelecnt and willing to help you non
Chef Patron served breakfast wearing dirty whites and not over sociable, restaurant was rather rowdy we opted to dine elsewhere. Room decor was rather dated. Cutlery and tableware could have been in better condition. No one was about to receive the keys when we left.
Friendliness of owners
noisy revellers in the nearby Market Tavern Pub, a short distance from the hotel - this isn't a reflection on Chapel House b/c they could not control for that occurrence, but it did interfere with our sleep.
Nice quiet place, good service, ok place
Excellent food, wireless Internet access, excellent service.
Beautiful countryside, great shopping in Birmingham. The grounds of the hotel were very well kept. well past its refurb date. environmental health and health and safety issues.
Lovely surroundings, friendly atmosphere. Good breakfast
Clean room and friendly atmosphere
Friendly owners, comfortable rooms, lovely breakfast. Unfortunately, the hotel did smell of smoke, and it was on a main road, not much the owners can do about that but otherwise it is a beautiful building.
Good location for what i needed The first room we were given smelled really bad , cigarette smoke, but we were given another room straight away, no problem at all. The staff were really friendly, food was good
All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The Beefeater was attached to the hotel which meant that we did not have to leave the hotel to eat. The room was clean. The room was fairly small.
Staff were friendly and helpful and food was good for the price. Location also was convenient for my stay. Furnishings a bit tatty.
Check in staff very accomodating Room smelt of 'old ladies' and need window open to air. Chair by desk was stained.
Food was very good thought the room was rather small and only one chair.
Facilities in room and hotel (food wise) Inconsiderate banging of doors late at night (midnight) Smell of people smoking along corridor to our room, very strong
Having the restaurant attached was good, but if you were able to set up a bill to go to your room number that would be great. No Free WiFi, for the price of the rooms it should realy be free in this day and age. The TV in the room was nothing like the advert, ie, not flat screen, no freeview.
It was clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed the breakfast. The mattress could have been more comfortable.
Warm and friendly ,good food ,nice size room ideal position for our trip
Hotel and bedroom clean and well decorated, good facilities breakfast area was like feeding time at the zoo. staff were not able to seat at a table. improvement on breakfast staff would have pulled your score for hotel staff to excellent.
My room was of an exceptionally high standard - remote controls did not work though. My evening waiter was an outstanding young man- Sam. Breakfast was very good, very helpful staff in the morning. All the service ladies were smiling and helpful with directions My evening meal was dreadful - dry liver and soft veg, (I ate late at 915pm)- starter was ok. I would not recommend to eat here. My server Sam was very good, polite and attentative. The staff in the spa area need customer service training - I had to interupt their conversation to get attention after 2 minutes, then they pointed in the general direction of the changing rooms without any assistance to me
Limited evening meal bookings
The hotel has been extensively refurbished in the past year. Everything very clean and up to date. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. The facilities were excellent. Great value.
The staff made this hotel beak for us, its not often you find people so happy to help you.
it was excellent value for money - had everything you needed especially for an overnight stay No
The location was ideal for us Too big and they struggled to cope at breakfast
Room, bed, bathroom, breakfast Bedroom window was difficult to close due to needing repair
Value for money evening meal. Friendly atmosphere. 1. On querying breakfast time I was told I could not have breakfast as I had not requested it at time of booking. However, the online booking procedure did not specify this requirement. It did refer to the cost of breakfast .. giving the impression that it would be available. 2. Although this next point was not important to me personally, it would concern some guests. The landlord and landlady do not live on the premises. I was the only guest, and so I was alone in the Red Lion overnight.
Value for money No food available on the evening and only pay and display parking on site even though when booked it said that food and free parking was available
Clean comfortable beds. No other good points. No bathroom towel rail, or working fan. Water luke warm, washbasin minute, shower flow poor and no c.h. in mornings. No chair or wardrobe in room. TV didn't work. Dirty socks left in one drawer. Generally shabby - tea/coffee stains, chipped paintwork, one drawer handle missing, venetian blinds broken, stained waste bin not emptied during our stay, or tea/coffee supplies replenished.
Ample carparking It was very basic with no food options. But was not charged a basic price
Good beer - Marston's Pedigree. Clean and tidy room. OK for £29.50 but very basic. Friendly staff who could achieve so much more with a little more effort and attention. 1. The postcode shown was for the landlords house - not the pub. search for Churh Street. 2. I wanted an evening meal and they weren't serving them. I did get complementary sausage and chips after the quiz which was OK. 3. I wanted breakkfast but was told I should have pre-ordered it when I booked. There was no facility to do this. It showed as a £7 additional charge on the room details. They needed to bring in staff to do breakfast so I didn't get any. 4. Thin walls - kept awake by snoring neighbour. 5. Tiny wash basin - no soap
Adequate room with shower, hot running water; good breakfast for £5. The establishment were not open till 5pm on day of arrival. Active hotels said 'dogs allowed by arrangement' I mentioned fact in my booking; however when I checked in I was told 'dogs not allowed' though the owner relented.
Nice beer in the pub. The lodge at this 'hotel' was a portakabin that was damp. My mate joked about it being his room when we arrived in the car park. He stopped laughing when they gave him the key! Also, I have never been to a 'hotel' that does not serve food. There was no food on offer at all even though I arrived before 5:00 p.m. Breakfast was not available either. It would have been if I had booked it when I booked the room. This was not made clear on the booking.com website.
it had a seperate enterance to the rest of the pub.the numbers type key is a very good idea.carparking was very good. lack of staff when i left.I felt like a thief creeping away.lack of access to food. ie. was not offered either somethuing to eat when I got there nor (as there was no staff in the morning) was I offered breakfast. even though the blurb for the Red Lion did say breakfast coyuld be had for £7. But I must say that all things considerd I would and even may book in there again.
Staff were friendly. No record of booking when checking in. Could have potentially lost the room. ~Communication issue between booking site and Hotel, needs reviewing.
Good location, clean room, friendly staff Shower cubicle too small
Easy parking. Luxurious room. Friendly staff. Lovely grounds.
Helpful, approachable staff. Modern decor & food to very good standard in a traditional setting. Close to nec but in a quiet, country location. Comfortable rooms. Room could do with air conditioning
The grounds were lovely. The Bed extremely comfortable and it was great having a Jacuzzi, although it was very noisy
Friendliness of all the staff
Top hotel , great location . room spotless and modern , recommended all round .
Staff were extremely attentive without being intrusive.
A lovely hotel in a nice quiet location. The staff were very helpful and the room was very comfortable.
The hotel was as always excellent. The staff were very friendly and professional, and when in the area again will book Hogarths.
Staff were fantastic...rooms were very comfortable. Food amazing!
lovely meal -friendly staff
Friendly staff, good locality
Food was excellent
Lovely place felt v peaceful Menu needs a re think
very basic room for the money also very noisy at night , value for money very poor
Good semi-rural location, low cost, friendly and helpful staff. The windows open fully. Free wi-fi. They have a function on Friday nights that costs extra, even for guests. Some downstairs rooms overlooked.
Very quiet hotel, well-built roads in the vicinity, no-noise, perfect for relaxation and walks in nature, very decently equipped rooms, very friendly staff, highly recommended. -
Warm friendly staff, breakfast very tasty (but no grilled tomotoes!) Generally very good - we would visit again. Some small but important niggles:- cheap toilet paper, hook behind bathroom door really cheap looking, shower head of poor quality, carpet in lounge/dining room far to busy (pattern made me feel sick). No Sunday papers. Pillow on bed very flat and synthetic.
Nice bar. Good reasonably priced food. Staff courteous and helpful Shower was a bit weak but otherwise no complaints
Bar decor, food, welcome
I booked the hotel to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday, it was a surprise party and we had 26 guests, all the staff went out of their way to make sure that my husband was not aware and they made the evening one to remember. the service and food were fantastic
Staff, food Dated/tired room though perfectly clean in need of modernisation.
i have stayed at the longshoot a few times and have always been very happy with the room and enjoyed my stay, the only thing this time was had to stay in a twin room as no double left although i know that can't be help. i will deffinately stay at the longshoot again. there was nothing really that i didn't like
excellent food nice warm rooms and polite and friendly staff the beds; so far have stayed at this hotel several times but have found the beds old and uncomfortable they really do need replacing
Bedlinen and bathroom immaculate. Floor could do with frequent hoovering; tea/coffee making facilities only for two despite three guests staying.
Comfortabe room. Pub food and drink prices were exceptionally cheap.
Very comfortable and unassuming. No problems at all. But I am easy to please. I spent most of my time away from the hotel using it only as a place to sleep. The hotel is situated on the T junction of a very busy road. Although the room had double glazing the traffic noise is quite bad.
There is a carvery next door that offers very good food at very reasonable prices.
Bedroom warm, whilst outside temperature very cold, also spacious room. Road traffic noise.
comfort and reasonability i found that just having the 2 bedside lamps for lighting was not enough light for the room
Excellent hotel with very good food and very friendly staff
Evening Meal very good value for money, if you like curry. Poor decorative finish to room Carpet in bathroom - very unhygenic Very expensive for standard of hotel Breakfast could be improved
Though there were few amenities, we did get an alarm clock to wake us, thankfully. The food in the restaurant was okay. Our needs were attended to just fine. We were assigned to a smoking room, ugh. The waitress at dinner did not seem to see that we needed forks etc. to eat with. It happened twice. No elevator. The taxi cost bucks to the airport.
Manager very polite & helpful as I needed to use their facilities to search the internet, also apologised for not being at the hotel on our arrival. No staff on site on arrival- had to telephone & wait 15 minutes. No towels in one bedroom, dirty ashtray in bedroom drawer & broken toilet seat. Shower holder unsafe, water scalding; burnt feet whilst adjusting shower temperature. Shower leaked very badly. Room noisy from traffic & planes, no curtains in room to shut out light from street lighting.Fire alarm system in fault- panel continually beeping! Wallpaper hanging off walls- held up with cellotape- general decor & fittings very poor & old; needing refurbishment.
Friendly and helpful staff a well cooked 'English' breakfast was offered in addition to the 'continental one that we expected from the website information.
nice bar and food
the breakfast and the public areas were excellent the location of our room was directly above the rear entrance and so got a little noisy from people leaving and entering the hotel (or smoking). Also it was a little chilly and the room didnt warm up. (we did stay on the coldest nght of the year so far!)
Very clean - good breakfasts. very central and close to station
Good central location
It was very clean and comfortable. Was central for visiting family which I had come down from Scotland to do. Walls were very thin so could hear the people next door.
Noisy wedding receptions on both nights that carried into the room until the small hours. Access from car park to reception / rooms blocked when functions are on (had difficulty getting past people with bags as a result). Reception hard to find. Car park barrier didn't work but staff didn't seem to care. Bed hard.
everyone was so friendly
breakfast and service was good noisy at night
nice comfortable rooms well laid out hotel choice of restaurants and foods and price range good Italian in-particular some doors very noisy closing enough to wake you. very full with wedding parties.would ask about this when booking again
there was a 40th birthday party being held there the breakfast service coul have been more organised
Very nice staff Therooms are very dated - No double glazing so quite noisy and the TVs are very dated and often stop working.
Staff very friendly Double bed was 2 single mattresses pushed together, no fitness facilities
Although the Ramamda double booked me they could not have been more accomodating. They sorted the problems out efficiently and I was given an executive room. The hotel is very close to town and the staff are friendly. Only problem was during my checkout; their was only one lady at the desk (she got flack for this) and it took 45 minutes to check-out, however stayed calm and tried her best. Breakfast a little dry but not horrible!
Not alot poor reception service
It was within walking distance of good shops, pubs and night life The bed,s were very hard
The hotel provided an excellent base for a visit to Solihull for a personal visit for the funeral of a close friend. The standard of the hotel was not my highest priority. The strange arrangement of the car park and getting parking tickets validated.
The suite was fabulous and made our visit There was a large party staying and that meant we were in able to get a table for dinner.
Convenience and location for the NEC. Excellant accces to Solihull shops.
position of hotel
The friendlyness of the staff. Especially at Breakfeast .Asthey were very busy but coped very well .
Cleanliness of hotel...staff were friendly Paying for Parking at the Hotel £8 per car per night
Fabulous location with fabulous views, quality accommodation in huge room with own separate bathroom, wonderful host and hostess - felt more like old friends than proprietors and a stunningly good breakfast! None
excellent location, superb old building. Would have been nice to have had time to wander round the grounds. Owners very helpful It would have been useful to have a sign on the roadway as it was easy to miss the entrance to the farm
Very welcoming. Staff helpful and friendly. Hotel very clean and comfortable. Facilities excellent. None
The parking was free. Restaurant staff very attentive. Good breakfast. There were no toiletries in the room and when we asked for some soap, we were told that they were not supplied, but there was a soap dispenser in the shower. This entailled climbing into the bath to get to it but was empty anyway. Had we known this when we booked, we would have brought our own soap - so be warned. We had booked a meal deal which was advertised as a 'free meal on the first night'. It turned out not to be free. We were given vouchers which paid for some of it, but had to make up the difference with cash. Reception staff were not very helpful.
Friendly helpful staff First room that I occupied, the heating was not functioning. After checking by staff I was moved to another room. Negative followed by a positive
After check in, my husband had to leave the hotel to meet some of his family. I was left in the room alone. It was during this time that a maintenance man knocked on the door. I found this to be strange as no one had said anything to us when we checked in and there were not any problems with the room / facilities. When I questioned him why he wanted access to our room he became incredibly cagey and nervious and said he would call back later and left as quickly as possible. he was not in any kind of uniform / had any id.
The room was very comfortable, staff were well trained, helpful, polite and cheerful. The restaurant was first class and parking was plentiful and convenient. The location was a little sterile (middle of a commercial estate) but overall - excellent. The thing I liked least was that there was only one lft, but in truth it wasn't a problem, just a little surprising.
Great hotel Should be 5 star
Quiet, except at breakfast time and in the restaurant. The televisions in public places had the sound off, for the most part. Meals available without having to go out. Essential as there was nowhere close enough to walk to. Use of a decent length swiming pool. In a handy location for my meeting. Cleaning and hovering whilst having breakfast. Showerhead only operating on a few jets. Poor lighting and high sound levels in the restaurant (not helped by the background musak). In answering 'yes' to the next question, that is a 'maybe'; it depends on the alternatives next time I have to spend a night in the vicinity. Small portions and bread or potatoes only supplied as an extra. In adequate warning of the credit card charge on the booking page and the amount was not included when asked to confirm on check-out on the website. The first I knew about it was when checking in at the hotel an saw and extra £2 on top of what I thought the room rate was. Television screens everywhere, tuned to different channels, are distracting. Nobody seemed to be looking at them, so do we need them ?
We loved the hotel and the room - talk about comfy! Disappointed with the onsite pub but verve was outstanding. The onsite pub food.
We enjoyed the starbuck in the hotel, gym facilities were good. Staff on reception were helpfull, trying to book us in early but in the end had no twin available until the normal check in. The locker in the gym would not open, the key was stuck, we waited over 10 mins for assistant. In the end we managed to open our selves and didn't see any member of staff. So they would have left us for over 20mins sitting in a towel in the changing room. No hairdryer in the bedroom, on requesting this at the reception we still waited over 20min, so agian delaying us for our breakfast. Seating in the bar area was stained and at the breakfast area.
relaxing in plasant surroundings-allways enjoy use of facillities...good location for local attractions etc
