Pros: It’s clean, tidy, rooms are excellent, bar and food are good staff are amazing!!!

Pros: Really impressed with the reception staff - helpful and friendly - just what you need after a long drive

Cons: the push button LED wall heat control in the bedroom. No hotel parking.

Pros: Location brilliant for access to town centre and only 20 min walk to enter the moors, only 10 min walk to the Castle; food and drink are good and great value; staff are helpful and friendly. Room very clean.

Cons: Only downside is no onsite parking - but we manged to find spaces only 5 mins walk away every day, so not a problem really.

Pros: Rooms were a nice size. Bathroom excellent. Beds and bedding very comfortable. And the bath towels clean/new and a very good size

Cons: Lack of parking was a big downfall. As we were working locally it would have been better if we could park our van and tools safely and within sight/earshot

Cons: Rooms above the pub are basic. Very old double glazing that offer no sound protection from the road outside. Rm 5 radiator has had its thermastatic value removed so unable to control the room temperature.

Pros: Plenty of parking space. Easy to order meals & drinks.

Cons: The on/off button on my TV in the single room had recessed into the TV,so I had to use a biro to access it.

Pros: A wonderful atmospheric hotel with such a rich history.

Cons: My only dislike was the four poster bed which was very hard.

Pros: Very friendly staff who all went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. The restaurant was excellent and again, fantastic service that made us feel like a long and queen! We overslept in the morning and they even held breakfast open for us. The grounds are gorgeous and definitely worth while going for a walk to see. Highly recommend to everybody - it’s so great!

Cons: Rooms were sparse - it’s a YHA. 4 beds, one chair and 2 sockets. No table/desk/place to hang clothes. No heating in the en suite.

Pros: Fantastic breakfast. Everything you might want for breakfast, veryb generous too, and also delicious chilled fruit juices, teas and coffee, Dining room was big and very spacious - you could find your own space to eat. I also really appreciated the reception area and kitchen being open all night. I'm a bit of an insomniac and could go and make a hot drink or check emails/read the paper or whatever any time I wanted without disturbing anyone.

Cons: Bathrooms - I was on the ground floor. Drab and and a bit dank though clean. They looked in real need of a makeover or at least repainting in nice modern colours. The water refill station - I found the water tasted disgusting!!! Couldn't drink it. Instead I refilled with water from the fruit juice machine instead.

Pros: There is great lounge and game room, the kitchen is good with everything you need (even if the tea and coffee you have to pay for), staff is very nice and helpful, the location is perfect for several walks. Everything was clean, I felt really safe and the village is so cute as well. Lots of families at this period that made me feel safe so that's a good thing.

Cons: The bedroom was quite small for the number of beds in it : I would put 4 beds instead of 6 because otherwise it is really too warm in the morning. This hostel was more expensive than all the others I've stayed in, but I don't really understand why because it was not better than others I've been. I mean it was nice, but not more than others that was like 33% cheaper. Lack of plugs in the bedrooms and in the common room. The dining room was really cold, and the bathroom as well. The alley should be more lighted because I almost panic in the way up to the hostel, it was so dark I didn't know where I was or where was the hostel, fortunately I had my phone to make light for me, but c'mon in winter it is dark really early so a couple of light besides the hostel pannel and around the building would really make a difference.

Pros: Helpful and friendly staff, beautifully kept gardens with a wonderful outlook over the surrounding countryside. Clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms. I would love to go back for a second, longer visit to completely unwind, it’s the perfect retreat.

Pros: Beautiful old buildings with an interesting history. Very helpful owners and staff. Fabulous countryside and places to explore close by. It was a welcome stop to break a long journey. A luxurious breakfast hamper with local produce was especially divine.

Pros: Beautiful location and building with friendly and helpful staff. The dog was an added bonus too!. Good food with veggie options and a decent selection of beers, cider and wine. Accommodation was beautiful and full of character. Only problem we had was we were getting too hot because the heating was on full blast but we didn’t ask the staff to turn it down to be fair to them. Great value for money and I would recommend to any of my Dartmoor loving friends.

Pros: Lovely hotel in a fantastic location. The bedroom was comfortable with great views. The evening meal was reasonable.

Cons: Breakfast was disappointing. A hamper was provided with basic breakfast provisions and not available until 08:30. I did manage to get mine the night before, but the fruit had gone off and it was very limited.

Pros: The ambiance and facilities were excellent. It's a definite choice on my list to stay again and visit the local area when I'm not there for work. Staff were very accommodating and friendly - would shift the sun and moon to improve your stay if it were possible.

Pros: What a wonderful place, for me the history was enough to make it fabulous! The history together with the Menhir and Standing Stone being in situ blew me away. Another pleasure was sleeping in the same room that Charles Dickens had stayed in during his travels. The food was delicious, we had breakfast and dinner. The best pain au chocolat I've ever had and I've had a few! Also loved the prawn starter. We really enjoyed the walks in the area and along the river and we visited the Finch Foundry. It was a shame we only had one night as there were some other places nearby we would have liked to visit.

Cons: There's nothing not to like, we had a super time.

Pros: The main thing for me was being able to take my dog with me and he wasn't just tolerated but he was actively welcomed. For a large en-suite room the value for money was excellent and downstairs the Inn provided great food and drinks. The staff were all friendly and the breakfasts were excellent.

Pros: We have been staying at the Fox and Hounds for many years and are delighted with the location, which is perfect for our needs. The staff are always very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is always a treat. It is not the most modern of establishments but they know that the secret of success is good service, good food, good beer and friendliness. Nothing is too much trouble.

Pros: We had breakfast every day and dinner in the evening all meals were of a very high standard. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, would definitely stay again.

Cons: One minor thing was only a glass screen in the shower so had to be careful not to spray the bathroom

Pros: It was a country hotel that catered to guests exploring the Dartmoor. It was big enough to provide excellent quality bu retained quiet comfort and personal service. Breakfasts were included and made to order and diners provided on request. All foods were prepared with skill with portions to meet ones appetite. If you needed something extra it was usually available. Rooms were large, comfortable and clean with views of the surrounding countryside. A great weekend getaway or excellent for a tourist who wants a location with proximity to the National Dartmoor Park.
