My answer is always the same: Oklahoma City. There are so many reasons to visit this vibrant city, from the multiple museums to exploring the botanical gardens and taking a tour of the Bricktown Canal. While you're exploring Oklahoma City, you'll need a place to rest and recharge. There’s a diverse range of hotels to choose from, each with its own unique charm and character. You'll find historic treasures that whisper tales of the past, funky mid-century modern motor inns that evoke a retro vibe, and even a haunted hotel that adds a touch of mystery to your stay. Whether you’re looking for luxury, boutique style, or budget-friendly comfort, OKC has something for everyone. Here’s my pick of the 10 best hotels in Oklahoma City.

Bradford House blends historic charm with modern luxury on a quiet street in Oklahoma City. This boutique hotel is set in a restored home filled with eclectic decor, from vintage record players to vibrant, mid-century modern furniture. Enjoy the leafy courtyard, relax with a book in the café, or do what I love most and kick back with a drink on the wrap-around porch.

From the hotel, you can easily walk to the OKC Farmers Market, a local favourite since 1928, or reconnect with nature at the nearby Myriad Botanical Gardens or Will Rodgers Park, Garden and Conservatory. Bradford House exudes the charm of the city, leaving no doubt that it’s one of the best hotels in Oklahoma City.

My favourite hotel lobby in Oklahoma City can be found at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel. The soaring ceilings here are adorned with grand chandeliers, while the rich mahogany panelling and plush burgundy red seating exude a timeless elegance. The opulent lobby immediately transports guests back to the bygone era of the early 20th century. Little wonder, then, that this is one of the top-rated hotels in Oklahoma City.

Located in the heart of downtown, it’s a stone’s throw from the Oklahoma City National Memorial and the lively Bricktown district. Fun fact: the Skirvin is rumoured to be haunted, adding a touch of mystery to its storied past. This is one of the best hotels in Oklahoma City for history buffs, as well as business travellers looking for a touch of old-world glamour.

The First National Center opened its doors in 1931. Since then, the 32-story bank has morphed into one of the best hotels in Oklahoma City. The National hotel occupies the first eight floors of this historic building, with 146 guest rooms to choose from.

As an Art Deco enthusiast, I love stepping into this sensitively restored gem. The restoration team meticulously refurbished the original murals and ornate painted ceilings, along with the old vaults and safes, recalling the building’s former glory days as a bustling bank. Be prepared to enjoy the scene at the on-site restaurant Tellers and all-day bar The Great Hall, both architectural marvels and great for people-watching. Service can be a little slow, but it’s worth the wait for the oven-charred Neapolitan pizzas. An added bonus is the ability to dine in one of the original teller booths in the restored First National Bank gallery.

Named after the renowned Oklahoma author Ralph Ellison, The Ellison blends modern luxury with artistic flair. This boutique hotel celebrates local culture and creativity with its stunning artworks and stylish decor.

The lobby feels like a contemporary art gallery, and I particularly love the floor-to-ceiling windows in the guest rooms. The panoramic views from the rooftop pool were a highlight of my stay, and what convinced me to add The Ellison to my list of the best hotels in Oklahoma City.

If you’re in Oklahoma for business, you’ll love the modern amenities such as high-speed Wi-Fi and spacious workstations. Located in the city’s Classen Curve district about 10 minutes north of downtown, the hotel is just minutes from Penn Square Mall and the Western Avenue District, which house some of the best shopping, dining, and entertainment in the state.

The Ambassador Hotel Oklahoma City, Autograph Collection is another boutique hotel housed in a beautifully restored building. This time it’s the 1920s Osler Building, which acted as a medical building for almost a century before being turned into a 54-room hotel. The rooms are super comfy, with marble bathrooms, triple-sheeted pillow-top mattresses and – my favourite – Nespresso coffee makers.

They also offer complimentary car service within a three-mile radius, so you can easily explore the Midtown neighbourhood in style. The prime location offers easy access to the Paycom Center and Bricktown, making it one of the best hotels in Oklahoma City.

If you want to dine on-site, the Chalkboard Kitchen + Bar is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while the rooftop bar provides stunning views of the city to accompany your evening cocktail. Those with a sweet tooth should not pass on the hand-whipped-to-order Grand Marnier soufflé.

The Renaissance Oklahoma City Downtown Bricktown Hotel is Bricktown’s only full-service hotel. This is one of my favourite neighbourhoods in the city, an energetic hotspot packed with trendy bars, diverse eateries, and entertainment venues all centred around the scenic Bricktown Canal.

The hotel has 182 well-appointed guest rooms, each designed with comfort in mind. Guests can choose from various room types, including standard king rooms, deluxe rooms with city views, and accessible rooms.

One of the reasons I added this hotel to my list of the best hotels in Oklahoma City is its location. It's just 10 minutes from the airport and mere steps away from Bricktown Canal, Oklahoma City National Memorial, the OKC Convention Center, Paycom Center, Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, and Riversport’s OKC Boathouse.

As you can probably tell by now, I love a good historic hotel, and The Colcord Hotel is one of the finest in the city. This magnificent boutique hotel is a true historic gem, built in 1910, and holds the distinction of being the city's first skyscraper.

As you can probably also tell, I love a good rooftop view. The hotel’s on-site restaurant, Vast, serves upscale American dishes 726 feet above downtown. I like to grab a table by the window and watch the world go by as I sip a glass of wine.

One of the best hotels in Oklahoma City, The Colcord offers a range of luxurious rooms, each meticulously designed. From the plush bedding to the stylish furnishings, every detail has been thoughtfully curated to cater to the needs of discerning travellers. It’s also conveniently located near key landmarks, such as the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum.

The Fordson Hotel in the vibrant West Village District is one of the best hotels in Oklahoma City for car lovers. Housed in the former 1911 Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant, this beautifully restored building gives off industrial chic vibes with its Art Deco architecture, terrazzo floors, and ornate ceilings. I love how the expansive steel windows fill the spacious rooms with so much natural light.

After a long day exploring the nearby Oklahoma City Museum of Art and the lively Midtown Plaza Court, I like to unwind with a drink from the rooftop bar, which offers stunning views of the OKC skyline. Car enthusiasts, take note: the lobby here features an original 1927 Ford Model T, adding an extra touch of history to its already fascinating past.

The Classen Inn is a revived 1960s-era motel in all its vintage glory. The design is delightfully retro, the colours are bold, and the neon sign is seriously funky. This 17-room boutique motel is an unmistakable landmark in Oklahoma City. Each room at the Classen Inn offers a nod to mid-century style, with custom murals, Jameson Bros. wood beds and works by local artists.

I love The Superette, the on-site market reminiscent of a New York City bodega. It offers a variety of snacks, beverages, and quirky items that guests can enjoy in their rooms or on the lively patio.

The hotel also provides complimentary bikes for guests looking to explore the surrounding neighbourhoods. I love the fun, playful vibe of this property, making it a no-brainer to add to my list of the best hotels in Oklahoma City.

The Omni Oklahoma City Hotel has all the markings of a great hotel – modern amenities, luxurious bedding, in-room fitness kits, and breathtaking city views. But as a spa buff, the main reason I added it to my list of the top hotels in Oklahoma City is because of its spectacular spa.

The Mokara Spa, located on the third floor, is a serene retreat offering a range of treatments, from soothing massages and revitalising facials to pampering nail services. The spa also includes a sauna to sweat out all those travel toxins and a peaceful relaxation lounge where I could spend the entire day unwinding with a good book.

If you want a little more sunlight for your relaxation, you can always pop outside to the rooftop pool and finish off with some panoramic views of downtown Oklahoma City.
