The hotel suited our needs very well. We had a two night stay to attend a wedding in the area. It was incredibly convenient for us.
Friendly staff, clea and comfortable room Seemed to be smell of smoke in bathroon
the staff were very friendly and were very helpfull no
Good service Breakfast expensive
close to destination and good fit motorway.
Excellent hotel very friendly staff
Karen was especially fantastic with our children and all staff were friendly and helpful. We even left a toy in our room and the staff sent it back to us wihtout us even asking. Fantastic service, we will definately be returning and recommending this hotel. This is a comment about booking not our stay - I booked a quad room on the internet, but the hotel did not recieve this information so had expected us to have a double. However they checked our booking confirmation and changed the room promptly and without fuss.
Very pleasant. The adjoining pub had good quality food and a good choice too.
Clean and comfy Postcode didn't take me to hotel using sat nav. Had to phone up for directions although I was only a mile or so out!
Breakfast was horrible
On airport campus and had car parking facilities The hotel provided me with all I wanted for access to airport
good value for money
Ease of checking in and out, self service breakfast. Choice of breakfast, I would have preferred and better selection, a bit basic.
hotel facilties and location
comfy room, good breakfast, no problems arriving late. Very much a business hotel. Could do with better directions from airport
Just served a purpose Told there would be a shuttle and there wasn't
British breakfast with scrumble egg and sausages. Drinks and sweets services. 24h/24h desk. Near East Midlands Airport but more than 1 mile walk. Calm but we stayed in low season. BOOKING_com false price for a 4 adult room booked. We had to pay 15 gbp per night/per adult if more than 2 adults in room. The 4 adult room was a double bed with sofa. Sofa bedding was not done, we had to do ourself our bed for 15 gbp per night/per adult supplement! Not enough light in the room. Old tv set, with all channels a little scrumbled.
Excellent location for the airport, the staff were very friendly and efficient and the rooms were well equipped and comfortable. We spent a very relaxing evening there and were also able to have something to eat, despite the late hour of our arrival. The buffet breakfast was also excellent. No negatives.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The shuttle from the hotel was speedy and efficient We ate in the restaurant but were dissapointed by the choice, partivularly as ran out of fish which was one of the 4 items on the menu. In addition the air conditioning leaked over my 5 year old's bed and he was forced to share a single bed with another adult.
Excellent, friendly communication. Food fresh and well presented with home made bread and honey/preserve so thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. Small point which was going to be fixed that day, no towel rail in the en suite
Friendliness of owners, made very welcome, very helpful and nothing too much trouble..even booked a table for us at a local indian restaurant! Breakfast scrummy..will definitely return and reccomend to others. Nothing
Really friendly staff , always polite. No bad points.
Excellent welcome and service given by the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they really made our stay a memorable one. The breakfasts were fantastic.Really good quality for the price. Parking was tight on occasions but it was carefully managed so never caused a real problem. The rooms to the front of the hotel were rather noisy due to the heavy traffic.
Location to and ease of access to East Midlands Airport, The room allocated (No 10) garden room very small, no wardrobe space.
There was nothing to like about it only the pub adjacent Bedrooms and breakfast room far to small and i stayed in a converted shed in the garden
The breakfast was very nice. Yes being on the top floor at the end of the day was tiring, and everytime we needed the bathroom it was the floor below, rooms needed decorating.
Very friendly staff, wonderful breakfast and extremely helpful. Parking a little awkward.
the owner and his wife made us extremely welcome but did not interfere. The breakfast was excellent.
Parking, Staff, Breakfast Tv had red picture
I liked the friendliness of the staff and the home from home feel. The food was pretty good too.
Very friendly, lovely location and good food. Long trek with bags up to top room
Lovely Place to stay pretty village No Bad Points
Superb! Can't fault The Staff Of Life in any way. Room was fantastic, airy, light, warm and spacious, and yet still cosy, romantic and well equipped. Large lcd tv with Freeview, fresh milk and massive en suite shower. Oh and a bloody lovely big, comfortable bed. Underfloor heating Could have done with an iPod dock. Oh and the towels were a bit rough for me, but I understand some people like that! But I am being picky!
Beautiful location, very clean and well maintained.
Good food and very pleasant staff.
warmth of welcome, and quality of accommodation
This is a smart country pub with comfortable, well-designed rooms. The mainly young staff are friendly. Evening meal very decent; breakfast very good. Nothing.
Nice quiet pub with a good restaurant, superb food and friendly staff. Check in times are a little rigid - but that's been pointed out elsewhere.
Nice village location. Close to Donington Race Circuit.
Friendly staff Room decore was 'tired' and let down the overall stay. In my room (#239) the large french windows did not close properly which left gaps all around the door. In the winter this will be a problem. I can not recommend your hotel to anyone else at this stage.
Only 1 bad piont and that was that the shower was very poor.It had no power to it. I found it quicker to run the bath than take a shower.
The staff were friendly and dinner on sat night was quite enjoyable I booked an ensuite room but the bathroom was across a public corrido from the room.
Grade 2 listed building, well maintained, good carpets and decorations, friendly staff, good restuarant Sash window rattled in the wind, noisy guests nearby
An excellent location for walking into town and the staff were as good as any we've encountered. The decor was a bit rough on the edges, but the atmosphere of an old hotel more than compensated.
Very helpful, friendly staff on reception Very bad, inedible evening meal
Well equipped room; excellent food Shower could have been better
Had a medical emergency which night porter helped resolve.Excellent food in bar lounge and, again, very friendly service Not worth mentioning
Friendly staff made us very welcome. Lovely room. Food was excellent. Saturday night was very quiet with few guests.
The staff are extremely friendly & helpful & remembered me from previous visits whch was fab Room service menu limited & when arrived was not as described in the menu - food could do with improvement.
The couple who run the bulls head are very welcoming and really do make your stay with them very comfortable and go the extra mile to cater for you!! I would deinfitely recommend this pub to others!! The Bulls Head is mainly an eating pub rather than drinking so there are not many people around after 9pm.
Good transport links, the staff were friendly and the room was spotless when we arrived. Plenty of room and perfect for a 1 night stop. The only problem that was found was that the room was not very well air conditioned if at all which did make the room a bit hot at night.
Location and access to road network.
The hotel is spacious, quite, high quality excellent for families
Convenient location and quiet rooms. Helpful and friendly staff. Comfy sofa plus tea and coffee making in the room. We struggled with the temperature in the room during cold weather. Small electric heater did not get room to sitting temperature during the day. Heavy duvets made it hot to sleep at night. Room size was a bit small for two people in twin beds plus large sofa.
Cleanliness and comfort of room. Food prices were too high.
There is round the clock coverage at the reception. The room was clean and had a good shower. The hotel is situated by the M42, which is quite convenient. The car park is free, which is a big plus. The English breakfast was mediocre and overpriced (£ 9.95). You can get a proper English breakfast at Tesco's (J13 on the M42) for only £4. The hotel also offers a continental breakfast but they really shouldn't bother. You can choose between cereal, toast bread, marmelade and two sorts of cold cuts. There are no bread rolls, no croissants, no cheese, no chocolate paste, etc.
friendly staff, convenient location Nothing
quiet, very clean room, pleasent staff
Business stay only. Not suitable for holiday stay
Location conveinet and staff friendly Room was not clean, bed was poor and uncomfortable, ant infestation in room continental breakfast was poor value for money and cooked only a little better
Pleasnt Hotel with all facilities in a good location. Value for money.
We enjoyed the chalet style rooms and fact that we could park right outside our room. It made our stay much miore comfortable. There was a neighbour who had large dogs that woke early every day and barked all day long.
good value for money the rooms were outside
It was a decent room for the price paid for the stay. The heating was on in the room, we tried to cope with it fore about 2 hours but it got worse, and it could not be turned down, we reported this an got told there have been heating problems in some rooms and was moved to another room, which did cause some inconveince.
Very clean. Super comfortable bed. Really hot water and a decent sized bath. I felt vulnerable because alhough there was a door chain and deadlock the room was really motel style and straight off the non-secure carpark, I didn't feel safe to open window or door for ventilation as I didn't want anyone to ralise I as a lone female. So its not for me.
Reasonably priced, convenient, polite staff Food in restaurant was not good, the whole place could do with a make over
Real central heating - nice cosy room and plenty of hot water
Motel like - no noisy corridors, space to move around. Comfortable bed Bathrooms clean, but approaching the point of refurbishment soon I think,
It was cheap and the staff were helpful Room not double glazed. Soundproofing between rooms not brilliant.
The hotel is in a good location in Ashby and we have stayed here on many occasions in the past. You get what you pay for and it is adequate for our needs. We had a bad experience this time round as having asked the barmaid what time breakfast was in the morning, she gave us the wrong times. We only realised this when we got up for breakfast and was told that it had finished 20 minutes earlier. Even after we explained that we had been told those times by their staff, the hotel staff that were on in the morning did nothing to apologise or even offer to make us something to make up for their mistake.
Staff friendly and obliging Some of the staff had difficulty with english and remembering what we had ordered but compensated by going the extra mile. Coded entry to both hotel and bedrooms was a bit of a chore.
Staff were friendly The bathrooms needed to be upgraded
Nothing Room decor was shabby ,bedside lamp did not work, unplesant odour from shower room and in hallway,no reception therefore checked in,in hallway. Curtains thin matrial therfore street light shone through.
Nothing! The room and hotel were so bad, we did not stay for our second night, but chose to drive 200 miles home instead. The room was damp and musty, there is a club in the middle of the hotel that I do not recall seeing mentioned on the website, that was open until 2am, the toilets for the club were opposite our room door.
a friendly bar - and bar staff no sign of management the quilt interior was dirty and rough - it could not be replaced on the first night no staff available, was replaced on night 2 with excellent clean linnen and quilt - Saturday night was a riot, the noise outside was awfull - not warned - no sleep until the early hours
Wonderful old historic inn. Pleasant pub. Staff very helpful Parking is something of a problem. Furniture is old, but clean and comfortable. Most people would be bothered by the Saturday night crowd that gats a rocking party going about midnight right outside the window. . .but we were forwarned, and so exhausted, we could have slept through the Normandy invasion!
Nothing The room was very small, the facilities in the room were poor, the wall sockets extension leads hanging off the walls and the T V had very poor reception
Clean and Tidy, not noisy on the Thursday night we stayed. Couldn't fault it's cleanliness. It was what it was, a town centre pub/small hotel.
Fantastic location and very helpful staff. Because we were having a reunion with a group of friends for the first time in many years I was unsure of the numbers able to attend until the last moment, however the staff were very accommodating and provided a separate dining room for us which really helped us to have a memorable night. No
VERY comfortable No
Beautiful location, very helpful and friendly staff. Cottage room very comfortable and quiet. We stayed on a Saturday night and there was a wedding party who rather monopolised the outside bar seating area. Noise from evening function was minimal thoughh so not too intrusive.
Lovely position Staff very welcoming and coped well with different family members arriving at different times Check out lengthy due to staff sickness
The lovely surroundings and the river Yes - room not cleaned properly, found wrappings belonging to womens personal items on toilet floor.
Staff were very helpful, food in the brasserie was excellent and well presented. Cottage rooms were a long way from the car park.
Calm, quiet comfort. Excellent food. Single room on the small side.
Unique combination of traditional and modern. Staff generally excellent and welcoming. Peaceful setting was compromised by large and boisterous wedding party into the early hours. Also limited access to some parts of the hotel.
The location is beautiful (even though foggy with the river level high). The dinner (including teh Cahteau Cissac 2000) was excellent. We appreciated the friendliness of the staff and the quietness of the location - surprisingly little noise from the airport.
Staff were all extremely helpful and courteous, from the moment of arrival. The location is picturesque. Meals were very good (although a little on the expensive side) charges for bottled water with meals were rather high
The evening meal as everything that I ordered was to my exact instructions and was very enjoyable and tasty. N/A
This is an old building with lots of character and they have not tried to change the built in features of the place. I had a great room with an enormous bathroom. All the staff were helpful and polite.
Great dinner, bed & breakfast rate of £99.0 and quality of dinner and service was excellent . Superior room = suite which was a bonus Will be back none
Close to me temp place of word Friendly breakfast waitress
The presentation of the Dinner was excellent, very pleasing to see and very tasty. The room was of high standard, although we arrived late and left early we found the hotel very comfortable and will use it again via your service again when we next trval from East Midlands Airport. We are considering using this Hotel for functions of our charity Lions Clubs International, which as you probably know are the largest Service Organisation in the World with 1.4 million members in 44,000 clubs throughout the world. The location of this hotel is just minutes from the airport and we will recommend it and the services of Bookings.com to other clubs when travelling from, or visiting the area. Thanks for a nice comfortable night bthat made our trip to the usa a good start. There was nothing to fault, the staff were so helpful, the food was excellent and good presentation, a credit to the hotel, the room was excellent so no bad points from us.
Everything was perfect
The food was absolutely fabulous, and the room beautiful, really fresh and clean. The bed was wonderfully comfy. The fact that some residents were allowed to run riot outside my room until 4am and the fact that when checking out and complaining nothing was deducted from my bill.
The hotel's elegant understatement was very relaxing and enjoyable. The evening meal and breakfast were both excellent
the staff were really helpful and friendly. the room was lovely and the 4 poster bed was a lovely surprise. This hotel was a fantastic base camp for a weekend at the download festival.
The Charactor, atmosphere and the excellent food Aircraft noise
good value, friendly staff and great bedrooms, restaurant a little quirky and food quality variable..............but better than most hotels at this price.
Quiet and relaxing. Good location. Everything was fine.
I enjoyed everything about my stay - in particular use of the facilites - the pool was warm and inviting only one thing - the jacuzzi was out of use at the time
Friendly staff and good food. Car park too small
It was really near to the airport. We were woken up at 5am by the people in the room above us who then kept us awake for over an hour and a half. However, the receptionist was helpful when we phone him to complain!
Large room, clean and quiet thick walls. We were not disturbed by nearby airport at all. Pleasant staff, nice decor.Helpful staff in dining room and reception. Breakfast was buffet style and the cooked food was a little overcooked. Presentation of food wasn't up to continental standards, perhaps we expected more , as full breakfast was £10 per head- too expensive for family i should have thought..
Reception were extremely helpful Bar area not pleasant and staff not helpful
Convenience & quality of accommadation, great Breakfast and very comfortable
Quite near to airport - taxi a charge of £6 without meter to departures in the morning. There were only 2 tea bags for the tea making facilities - meant if we had one on arrival we couldn't have one in the morning.
It was close to the wedding we were attending and reception was always manned This is the second survey and we only stayed 1 night it is overkill, also the bed was hard and the bathroom was smelly but everything else was fine
My compliments to your Restaurant staff on the evening of the 26th, the poor girl who's name we never got was working herself to the bone and kept a proper attitude towards the customers and the chef in the kitchen was totally worked out but kept the food standards high and surprisingly, taking into consideration the time of night 11:00 P.M. was still trying to satisfy the customers with food and to our surprise did not walk out telling everybody to get stuffed. He worked,as we were under the impression totally on his own in the kitchen, my wife owned a pub and knows what kind of gratitude should be considered towards the staff who has to work under these conditions, under staffed and over worked and all of the customers seemed oblivious as to what they were putting up with as they never openly complained, some customers were asking for a meal for 6 people at 11:00 P.M. and were politely refused because the chef still must have had about 6 previous meals to complete, now these people will probably complain but I think you have to draw the line somewhere as staff would still have to clean up and prepare for meals in the morning. I think a review of the hotels requirements over an extremely busy week- end should be more considered, some management are not bothered what other employees have to do to keep up a franchise reputation as long as they do not have to participate, I think if management had to cover on a particular week-end when the hotel is busy they may take a differen attitude towards staff coverage. We as customers were slightly inconvenienced but because we have been in the business we understood but how many others would.
I only stayed one night but i found the hotel and its staff so welcoming. The room was so clean and everything was there that you needed. Breakfast was very good and you could eat as much as you liked. The staff were always at hand to help you if you needed them.
Great welcome from the receptionist, friendly and helpful staff throughout. Good, clean hotel, ample parking.
Its close location to East Mildlands Airport, warm welcome by staff, cleanliness and comfort It would have been helpful to have had access to a shuttle service to airport and car parking facility (other than on the night of our stay)
frindliness & cleanliness of hotel & good food
The hotel was conveniently locaated for donnington park and the the staff and food were excellent nice clean room
Decor and everywhere clean and fresh None
Good no frills hotel with excellent service Staff a little strectched at breakfast.
It was supposed to be relaxing but there was cheer leading convention staying at hotel who did not respect that others were staying at the hotel and woke every one up at 700 am coaches shouting in corridor took over hotel no area to sit where it was quiet woken up overnight as well with the noise but i realise tis was not the hotels fault but i have never been anywhere where guests were so noisy.
breakfast old, uncomfortable bed
Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely bedroom. Good dinner menu and breakfast. Would recommend this hotel.
Very comfortable good parking very good over all package
Very nice stylish hotel with very good fitness and swimming pool, tasty breakfast
Good ,friendly staff and facilities Room was very hot ,window hardly opened so uncomfrotable on a hot evening .bed mattress had seen better days but other than that everything else fine
everything was fantastic My only gripe was that the plates were cold at breakfast
the relaxing atmosphere the cold shower
The style and character of the hotel. Very comfortable and clean. Spacious rooms. The fitness did not have hours that were convenient for me. 24/7 would be ideal, but if it opened at 5am or 6am, that would have been nice.
Everything was fine!
It was so nice to stay in a hotel that was warm and the heating was efficient. Shower cubical was very shabby - nothing bleach could not sort out.
All staff both in the restaurant and hotel were excellent Room rather tired in decor and bed extremely uncomfortable.
easy access from motorway going outside to eat breakfast
Was near to were i was working
The staff friendliness Firstly, we didn't know that the hotel had been taken over, so were looking for a Ramada hotel. Because of the change over, the TV didn't work and the restaurant was not open for lunch when we arrived. The wifi didnt work either - we had a terrible stay
Decent sized room with easy access from the M1. I had booked non smoking rooms and was allocated to the designated smoking section, older member of staff at reception desk while receptio nist was off the desk was quite rude. Breakfast buffet was cold, plates were cold, the four staff on duty made no effort to engage with guests, we had already paid bill and were leaving early so went in to breakfast at 7.30am when you would have thought the food would be hot.
Good size room but a bit shabby. Mattress springs were lumpy. Shower was good but had a lot of black mould around the door and fixings.
considering the hotel is next to the motorway it was very quite. very good breakfast pleasent room.
Breakfast. The room size. Modern hotel. There were no towel and toilette paper hangers. The bathroom is claustrophobic.
Pleasant staff Having no choice over a smoking or non-smoking bedroom
