Once we learned the facility was about 1/3 mile from the Iceland airport and could not find a Sixt booth or their shuttle at the Iceland airport, we decided to walk to the facility in the rain & wind. Otherwise, the check in & check out process was ok and the vehicle served us well in our travels around Iceland.

The car we were given was damaged by a previous crash including missing parts, scratches and dents. Part of the underbody started falling off while we were driving on the highway. Sixt admitted to not inspecting the underside of the car but is claiming we are at fault and we should have crawled under the car in the dark and snow at 6am with a flashlight to inspect the underbody at pickup. They then tried to force us to pay 50000 ISK for underbody damage, refusing to give us any breakdown or details. We feel that they are attempting to defraud us and will never use Sixt again.

I have rented cars in Iceland many times. This experience was considerably better than most. The Sixt attendants were much friendlier and reasonable than other experiences I have had with other rental car agents there.

I absolutely had no customer service when I had an issue I needed to deal with midway through the rental. I emailed 5 different email addresses with my concern and had to drop it off still unresolved. 2 weeks later they billed me for the parking ticket that I had the proof it was paid.

I liked the pick up at the hotel. The car drove fine.

Cons:

The quote that I received on Kayak was about $20 less than when I went to pick up the car. I declined any extra insurance. I spoke with Hertz rental and they said the the Iceland office was an independent office and would check with them. They basically said that that was the price and here is your invoice of what you paid. It seems that there is nothing that I can do about this. I work in the airline industry and will not recommend Kayak, unless this is rectified.

We had a last min. change of plans that brought us to Iceland for a few days. Hertz was great at getting us a rental car with virtually no notice. Wonderful people at the desk and a far better car rental experience then anything I've used in the US

I booked a SUV (Jeep Wrangler or equivalent) and when I arrived I found out that my reservation was for an economy car (Mazda CX-3). I was mislead by Kayak /Dollar, if I had know that for the price I was getting economy instead of SUV, I would not have booked.

When we arrived they informed us that they didn't have the size vehicle that we booked, which was unfortunate because we had 7 people with luggage. The most that they could offer us for the inconvenience was the option to book another car at full price. The man was very short with us and repeatedly said that it wasn't his fault, rather that it was Kayak's fault and that he didn't need to accommodate us. Thankfully our friend had already booked a car with another company and allowed several of us to go with him, but our group was split up.

you cannot just return the car you have to wait in line and wait for someone to come out to your car and I had to wait for 3 little vans to take me back to the airport because they only had one and so many people were waiting I had to wait for this one van to come back 3 times before I could get on. I almost missed my flight

Staff was friendly, good price performance ration.

Cons:

Unluckily if you book the car and you are there only one day with the cruise ship to pick up the car (no matter if with reservation or without) took more than one hour. This made our day trip very stressful, because we lost so much time. Employees should not work as tourist information if long line.

We have a flat tire issue. We pay for the platinum insurance.but We don’t received any road assistance even if i am a handicap man. At the end , they charge us a brand new tire ( We don’t receive a car with new tires …… ) we understand the actual conditions of the tires in that country not justify in any case to charge the clients their own tire renewal program….

The first car that was offered had a very bald tyre. We were given another car,which was fine. The staff at the office were lovely, and very helpful. The man who was to shuttle us from the airport was extremely rude. He would only take the driver, leaving us at the airport without any communication to our driver. On returning our car,the staff were very kind. Seems that your shuttle drivers leave A LOT to be desired though. This was our welcome to iceland.

When picking up the vehicle (Mercedes Vito Touring van), it turned out that the International Driver's Permit was not necessary, although it was stated that it was needed online. The pressure to buy the "premium insurance" felt impossible to avoid taking as we felt that we would be liable for just about anything if we didn't take it. The staff member's English was not the greatest so it was also tough to understand the terms clearly. Being tired and apprehensive at the time, we bit the bullet and paid the additional $400+ for peace of mind. The van we were given was in OK shape - windshield wiper on driver's side was broken, back window wiper, was missing, driver's side door would not open or close in the cold weather and would need to be opened and closed from inside only. The space inside was nice and roomy and getting the Wi-Fi was definitely the way to go! The guys that were present at the time of return were super friendly (Polish and Romanian). The return process was extremely quick. The "walk-around check" of the vehicle upon return was done very quickly as well but made me question the need for that premium insurance. No signed-off paperwork was given upon the return either so here's hoping they stick to their word that all was good!

Totally unacceptable. I rented the car (one way) well in advance and the guy at the local Avis called me that morning (Sunday) to say they had no cars, no one had returned, and there was nothing he could do about it. I spent hours calling around my area trying to find one but it was a medical emergency, and we ended up renting an Uber, hugely expensive.

Cons:

Everything. Avis in Westport is really bad.

Cons:

The pickup still took more than 1.5 hours, even though I had reserved/booked in advance, which made me miss my hotel check-out time. One unfortunate employee was left to deal with a long line of customers who hadn't booked in advance, further penalizing those who had planned ahead.

Horrible - do not book with NextCar. They denied my car insurance because I was not the primary policyholder. I have full coverage insurance, so there was no logistical reason to deny it. The supplemental insurance cost as much as the rental itself. I was never told at the time of booking that I would be forced to use their insurance if I wasn’t the primary policyholder. I was only told so 24 hours out from my booking. I’m actively trying to get a refund for this.

I arrived 30 minutes early for my reservation and the line was ridiculously long. It took over an hour and fifteen to just talk to someone. I elected to purchase the collision coverage online, only to get there and be told that I also needed to purchase minimum coverage for $30 per day. An additional $150 on top of what I paid online. I budgeted $275 for the rental car to get there and be told that it will be over 50% more expensive!?!? So ridiculous, especially when I am standing in a city with no other options to rent a car at that point. 30 minutes after talking with someone I was given a vehicle with substantial scratches, dents, damage, and a half a tank of gas. This was the worst rental car experience I have ever had. I would NEVER use this rental service again. I feel like I was screwed over and when you are there, have been waiting and have no other options, you just have to pay the extra money for the damaged vehicle and move on. Very terrible experience all around.

Nothing to like. First, I would not rent from ACE again, as the inconvenience is not worth the time. Getting to the location is a hassle. Leaving the terminal, you have to travel/walk 15-20 minutes to get to a pickup area, only to have to call for a pickup. Several people were already waiting for an extended time before I arrived. Next, after getting to the rental location, I had to wait an additional 30 minutes before a vehicle was brought to me. After inspection of the vehicle, it seemed that a previous renter hit the bumper and you can see this on both left & right upper sides. I tried to point this out to someone that worked there and was told video was already taken of the car, so don't worry about it. I then took my own video. The car was not cleaned and looked like it just was wiped down with a cloth instead of being washed. The return wasn't any better, as I wasn't greeted by anyone when I pulled to the return point. I had to seek out an employee and ask, where they told me to leave the car and take the keys inside. I then had to wait as customers were in front of me in line, before a clerk looked up and asked if I was returning. I then gave the keys over and had to wait about 15 minutes more for the next shuttle back to the airport. You must factor in plenty of time if you rent with ACE, and not get frustrated with what appears to be poor process management. Overall, I would have rented directly from the airport onsite locations, instead of ACE if I fly into EWR/Newark airport again.

I think it’s time for Addcar to invest in a kiosk inside the terminal and provide this amazing experience to the other passenger that only pick up from rentals within the terminal.

It was an absolutely terrible experience. The person I dealt with when picking up was so rude and unprofessional. I was shocked at the additional expenses and how I felt forced into an insurance that seemed like a scam. There were multiple additional expenses that were not explained to me and the woman seemed to think I was foolish for asking for an explanation. I was so nervous about returning the vehicle that I cut my vacation short by an extra day just to get the vehicle back early in case they were difficult again to deal with. So I had to pay $150 for a hotel just to get the vehicle returned early. When I did go to the dropoff, there was another person having the exact same difficult time with staff. It was so wildly upsetting to watch this man struggling with this horrid customer service as well. I will never use this service again and I will attempt to warn others about this experience.

Staff were kind though they didn’t seem to have an information needed to answer questions related to insurance and cost. No shuttle service was available from the airport and no one was Available to answer the phone, other travelers helped us figure out how to get to the pick up location 3km from the airport. The $2000 hold/charge to our bank account was a huge surprise and it took over 2 hours to get the car at pick up due to them being understaffed and having a lot of confused costumers.

The initial car had very worn tires, so they gave us a free upgrade. The pickup of car was a little slow (waited 20 min for them to get to airport and had to deal with car change), but I've had worse with larger on-airport car rentals. Make sure that you have the number to call when getting to the airport so they know you've arrived.

AddCar left us stranded at the airport. We waited for 2 hours until we had to walk out of the airport to search for a car with my 92-year old grandmother. The unresponsive agency ruined our brief visit to Iceland.

This was a scam. Deceptive marketing with hidden fees and predatory practices on the consumer. I canceled reservation onsite , didn’t take the car and will never use them or affiliate rental companies. I will never recommend them.

Online your able to pay with an American Express Card. When you get there after a long flight and a a long drive from Mimai Airport to get there....they tell you we do not accept American Express cards. Mr and two other customers went through the same thing...there was a lot of upset people in the same boat...yelling, arguing. I will never use them again! Stop accepting American Express online for carwiz!

Didn´t rent the car because there was hidden costs (mandatory protections) that were not clear in the booking process. I was fooled by you all. Lost my money.
