Markus Sittikus is a very cozy, charming and friendly hotel near the Mirabell Garden in Salzburg. Nice boutique rooms, good value for the price. It was a bit of an inconvenience to not have a desk attendant at night, as I arrived after 10pm. I was redirected to the front desk at a sister hotel a few blocks away. Beyond that, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
My wife and I had never been to Salzburg but chose Hotel Markus Sittikus based on its location and price. Overall we were very pleased with our choice. The price was one of the most reasonable we were able to find in central Salzburg, and we felt the combination of price and location was just right for us. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the Salzburg Altstadt (old town) but it is a very easy route along a main road to get there. We had tons of questions when we first arrived and the front desk staff was extremely helpful and polite. The hotel is a representative for Panorama Tours (the main provider in town), and they will book the tours and make arrangements for you, which was also very convenient. The breakfast service provided by the hotel is somewhat pricey but is one of the best european-style continental breakfasts I have ever had, with a great selection of fresh breads, cold cuts, cheeses, vegetables, and delicious spreads. Great fresh-ground coffee tops it off. Finally, due to the Syrian refugee crisis there were no trains leaving from the Salzburg Hbf for Germany, so the hotel staff arranged a taxi to take us across the border to Freilassing, Germany where we caught a train to Munich. They even negotiated a fixed price for us so we would not get overcharged due to the heavy traffic at the border. Overall we were very pleased with this hotel and would definitely stay there again.
The only downside to the hotel is that the interior and rooms seem to be a little bit dated. The lobby, sitting room, and other communal areas were comfortable but could really use some updates. The bedroom was also comfortable but felt like it hadn't been updated since the '90's.
Very helpful staff and convenient to train station
This is a very nice hotel that is within walking distance of the train station and sights in Salzburg. It is lovely and I would recommend it.
No fan or air conditioning. The room was quite warm.
Friendly and helpful staff. Cosy rooms and building; vry celan; funny little plastic ducks ! Excellent breackfast buffet; computer with internet access in a comfortable rest room, excellent location (10 min walk from historical city center and train station); peacefull surroundings (no car noise); view to a small inner garden...
just some problems of insonorization between the rooms
Close enough to walk to/from the train station with luggage, and able to walk throughout the aldstadt easily. The room size was generous by european standards.
Our room's decor was dated but everything was clean and worked just fine
Quiet secluded location. Large comfortable room. Internet enabled PC available to guests in hotel conference room which was free of charge. Excellent breakfast. Easy walk to the old and new town. Just a few minutes walk to the Mirabell Gardens.
No air conditioning but a much appreciated fan was provided. Only German speaking channels available on the TV. When going to the hotel bar there was no permanent bar staff present. A receptionist came to the rescue each time to provide drinks.
The location is good. The price-quality ratio is good.
The only problem was to find a parking lot. The hotel staff gave us instructions on street parking, howerver, and after driving around some 5-10 min the problem was solved.
The staff were wonderful and very helpful.
It was way overpriced for what it offered and its location. The rooms were worn and old, there was no in-room safe or refrigerator, no sattelite TV, and the entrance was poorly designed and most inconvenient (had to go up a flight of stairs with luggage). Not handicap accessible at all
Breakfast, selection, environment and staff were very obliging and quick with service
I would have liked to relax in bar or a non-smoking environment as I am sensitive to cigarette smoke. But I accept Prague is not a smoke free environment. Cig smoke smell did seep under the door but I managed well and I did enjoy my stay.
Great location for walking into the city. Sound of music tour just around the corner but they still offer complimentary pickup if booked from the hotel.
location good (Salzburg) breakfast good variety receptionist helpful having a balcony - also garden looked nice (but did not get a chance to use it)
having to take my luggage up 8 steps to get to lobby - wd be very awkward for older/disabled
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was spotlessly clean.
The room was OK, faced onto a quiet street. Good buffet Breatfast. The Staff were very friendly
