6.5 Good
Pros: Nice lobby, courteous staff, comfortable bed.
Cons: Tiny gym, mold in the bathroom grout, room amenities were average, surprising amount of wear and tear in our room for a hotel in this category.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is ideal for seeing the museums and monuments. Lobby and restaurant staff are warm and welcoming.
Cons: If you forget to tip housekeeping each morning, don't expect clean towels.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, quiet and accommodating.

Cons: Colonial parking provides valet parking at the Willard for $55 per night. They refused to tell me about any other options when there was another parking garage just behind the hotel. I won't return to the Willard until they lower their parking rates.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Ritz-Carlton is what we dreamed all our previous hotels would have been. The staff, facility, rooms, food, location, and atmosphere could not be improved. In addition to a beautiful property with excellent customer service, the Ritz-Carlton is literally steps from the Pentagon City Metro station. They treated my children like kings and made our stay well worth the price. The search for lodging in the Washington D.C. area has ended. We will never stay anywhere else again!
Cons: I cannot say I did not like anything. Even the small logistical issues we had, that come with children, were fixed above and beyond expectations. The staff over-compensated for any issue that arose during our stay. Others should learn from the Ritz-Carlton model.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet, no outside noise what so ever despite the location.
Cons: Nothing that set apart the Ritz from the others, room, furniture, bathroom was very medicore and what you get from any other hotel in the same class.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Metro was just outside the front door and it made for very easy trips on the metro. The airport is only two stops away and you avoid the hassle of traffic if you don't have too much luggage to carry. I saw several families there so I think it would be a nice place for families too. And of course, the service was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
7.4 Good
Pros: Free early check-in. Quiet room.
Cons: No free wifi. Drab view from room.

Pros: Very nice, large, clean rooms.
Cons: Under construction. Gets noisy well before 8am says it's in Georgetown but really it's east of it. Not a lot walking distance
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Overall, a nice hotel and had a good stay. I especially enjoyed the gym, which was the best hotel gym I've ever tried - had a lifting platform, power racks, and dumbbells going up to 120 lbs. My only complaint would be the daily parking fee, nearly $50 a day. Nearby garages seemed to be charging $20-$25 a day.
6.8 Good
Pros: Good location
Cons: Several smokers on our floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Very clean room and bathroom. Great ambiance in the area.

Pros: Near perfect stay
Cons: Everything very pricey, but not out of line with the area.

7.7 Good
Pros: I came down to ride my bike to all the museums and monuments. When I presented my claim ticket for my bike to the bellman my bike had been stolen. I spent 4 hours in the lobby filling out a police report
4.5 OK
Pros: Location Maids
Cons: Front desk staff on more than one occasion Very small rooms
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The Bellhops were amazing! So helpful and polite!!!

Pros: This is such a grand hotel. We spent 4 wonderful days here, great staff, exceptionally clean rooms and great views.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Beautiful view of the Washington Monument from our room. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff at the hotel went out of their way to please us. In particular: Mr. Herb Wright greeted us daily with his million dollar smile and was always ready to be of assistance. Mekdes Pierce, Nathan and Limlin worked so hard each day in the lounge for breakfast and appetizers/dinner. They were so kind no matter how busy they were.
Cons: Absolutely not one thing. It was an outstanding hotel.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Everything was spot on, nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: TV system was being upgraded so there was no access to in-room films at all, just all the usual uninteresting TV channels.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Customer service
Cons: The sofa sleepers
6.0 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: They offered to an upgraded room with a view for more $ Room had no view. AC broke , took 1 full day and multiple sells to get it repaired.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Customer service was phenomenal. Short wait times, responsive knowledgeable staff.
Cons: Valet service was lacking due to extended wait times. The hotel is renovating the front lobby, so the entrance was moved to Pennsylvania Ave.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were incredibly well appointed, decorated. Modern, sleek, and comfortable, including the halls that lead to the room. I stayed 9th floor.
Cons: The construction impacted the ease of navigating the main lobby floor. Also, i was not instructed on how to use the elevator system when i checked in, which confused me and delayed my movement toward my room.
6.0 Good
Pros: We likes the decor and the cleanliness of the hotel. The hotel was in a good location for sightseeing.
Cons: Housekeeping forgot to clean our room in the morning so we had to call and ask that they come at night when we were out to dinner. The pillows were also really too soft without much support. And we didn't realize until we got there that the overnight parking fee was $59 per night....kind of a lot when you gross everything up we might have been better off at another hotel location with less expensive parking! Once you are there though you are stuck with it. Ugh. Next time.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location was great, staff was great
7.6 Good
Pros: Central location Clean rooms Value for money (I suppose)
Cons: WiFi not free in rooms and expensive Restaurant average. We asked for a cappuccino and got coffee tasting line filtered coffee with normal milk with lots of froth on top.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The price was quite reasonable and the location was convenient as well. The staff was friendly and helpful too. Also the room was nice and clean.
Cons: First, the website says the amenities include parking. What it doesn't tell you is that it is valet parking at almost $50/day. Second, the website says the amenities include free wifi. What it doesn't tell you is that the wifi is only free if you connect to it down in the lobby. Otherwise, it is almost $13/day if you connect to it from your room. Overall, it wasn't a bad stay. I just wish the website was a little more detailed/honest with some of its information.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great! Am upset that they put an $800 hold on my credit card when the room was only $300
10.0 Excellent

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very pleasant and professional. The rooms were clean and spacious.
Cons: The breakfast needs improvement, it was below average.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious rooms, comfortable bed. The shuttle service is great and very accomodating whenever we needed it. Metro station is close by. Front desk staff was very nice. Liked having coffee available in lobby 24 hours.
Cons: No vending machines in the hotel and nowhere close (walking) to buy anything. They have the little market shop in the hotel with exhorbitant prices! Smokers are allowed to smoke right outside the main door....which is also where we had to wait for the shuttle. One time there were 11 people smoking. Ugh! There should be a separate smoking area around the corner.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice large rooms with shower and bath in separate rooms. Good hot breakfast in the morning. Accomodating staff, and free shuttle service to and pickup from the metro stop and mearby restaurants.
Cons: The sliding doors to the shower and toilet areas don't latch and tend to roll open by themselves. Our thermostat did not eork eell and we alternately froze and overheated all night. The fold out couch bed is handy, but so uncomfortable my kids wouldn't sleep in it after one night. They slept in the bed with me instead.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The local restaurants were amazing, the staff were super helpful and it was a great location for us!
Cons: Maybe boring breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a nice hotel with great amenities. The hotel is very clean and feels new. The breakfast is pretty standard continental fare but we enjoyed it for all 4 days. The rooms have microwaves and refrigerators which was nice. Parking was free and plentiful. The Eisenhour metro station is a 10-15 minute walk down the street, but there is a shuttle call to take you to and from the station. We rode into the Mall everyday for about $6/person which beat the hassle and cost of parking downtown. There was an AMC next to the metro station with several resteraunts so we would eat there most nights and see a movie. Parking there is free in the evenings. Great location for us, very helpful staff, excellent stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I enjoyed it all. The staff was wonderful, professional, an informative.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean room. Separate shower with large mirror, sink and counter/storage space along with separate room containing toilet with small sink and mirror is excellent for allowing more than one person to prepare for the day and other obvious reasons as well. Both of those rooms had good fan powered ventillation. Microwave oven in room along with refrigerator that kept items cold. Close access to metrorail and freeway. Located in area that at night is quiet with very little traffic. Some enclosed parking available at ground level under building. Beds were comfortable. In room wireless internet worked excellant. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Cons: Shower head needs more water pressure. Desk/lounge area of suite was adequate but would be nice if it were more spacious. No small kitchenette with sink. This is not a biggie for me but would make an extended stay and/or food prep more accommodating. Finally, also not a biggie but would be good idea is to have adjustable volume speaker by bed farthest from television as it would allow less volume to satisfy viewer from that spot. Overall, above average room and experience.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: very comfortable bed and room
Cons: Most of the staff was excellent but one person was not friendly and didn't make effort to upgrade the room since the door of the room they gave me was broken. A second person immediately changed the room for the better.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything. The room was modern, well appointed, with a comfortable bed, and spacious bath. The staff was as pleasant and helpful as any I have encountered in some time. The location is great! I ate in the restaurant once and I enjoyed my meal. I look forward to my next visit.
Cons: The closet space in the room I had was limited and would probably be tight for two people. This is a very small fault in an otherwise very pleasant stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The people at the front desk, the concierges, the doormen, and the housekeeps were truly concerned about my comfort and seeing that I had the best possible time in Washington. Your concierges are extremely knowledgeable and took the time necessary to help me find stores and restaurants; making phone calls for me to get things done. My own family doesn't care for me that well!
Cons: Cannot think of anything. Oh, there is one little thing, the front door to my room, number 302, sticks. I meant to inform the front desk, but it was so insignificant compared to everything else, that I forgot.
5.7 OK
Pros: Location, excellent door men.
Cons: No premium channels. Broken toilet that was "fixed" twice but I had to fix it myself a couple times. No water pressure. House keeping only left us with 1 towel. View of a brick building 6ft from my window. Bar staff were disruptive and joking loudly with doormen while people waited at the bar.
8.5 Excellent
Cons: No drinking water in the lobby. Beds not comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and service was first-rate and the location made walking easy to the various monuments and museums. Also the train station was in easy walking distance.
Cons: I can honestly say that there was nothing bad about this trip...my wife and I had a wonderful time!
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Miscommunication in the lounge regarding a wine selection, and subsequently being overcharged.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly and the room was clean, comfortable, and dark at night. At check in my wife asked about a refrigerator since she is pumping and the young lady had one sent to the room.
Cons: The refrigerator was broken. We were able to make due with ice from the hall.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We experienced the sweetest women at the front desk, both named Anna. One even kindly gave us a room with a view at no additional charge since it was my boyfriends first time to DC. She recommended some great dinner spots which we loved. Also, the gentleman outside the next morning were so friendly, we chatted with them for a while before our Uber came. Kudos to everyone for welcoming us home after a long trip abroad. Made us feel so happy to be back.
Cons: Hair dryer could use an upgrade but was definitely sufficient to get the job done.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and cleanliness

9.4 Excellent
Pros: Metro attached to hotel Liked comfort and flexibility of restaurant and bar. Very accommodating to our family of 15 for dinner.
Cons: As an Ohio State Buckeye fan, there on the annual rival between OSU and Michigan, we wore our OSU gear and decided we liked the hotel bar nooks of chairs around TV. We were so disappointed the bar only plays music and the TV’s are muted. There were other guests also asking to hear the game. First staff said they can’t play the TV volume. Then they said they would try but there was no one in house that knew how to. We certainly would have spent the time at another establishment. I’m glad I wasn’t hearing impaired. No one on site even knew how to put on subtitles to follow the story. Didn’t expect that negative experience.

Pros: Very upscale looking hotel
Cons: The A/C was on blast. Too cold in the common public areas. Like arctic cold. Uncomfortable. Also the lighting in the room was totally insufficient. Very dim and dark. Opening the windows didn't help because we were in a room on the inside part of the hotel which faced the other wall of the building.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff was very cordial. Very busy and active bar in the hotel. Breakfast from the hotel restaurant was good. The room was clean and very modern. Beds were very comfortable.
Cons: Access to the closet was limited due to the proximity of the bed to the closet doors - couldn't open the doors enough.
4.5 OK
Pros: The neighborhood had a little of everything for you whithin short walk distance. Was nice to have the calm of the neighborhood but close enough to get into the hustle of the downtown area.
Cons: The housekeeping staff spent more times in the hall on their phones texting and talking. We left our rooms around 10a and when we returned around 4:30 Our room had not yet been cleaned. Before we left for dinner we called and asked that our room be refreshed and housekeeping said they would be right up. They never came. I did say something to the front desk at check out - her response was "oh, that's not supppsed to happen that way. Now, I did get an email from management apologizing, but stating that he discussed with housekeeping and they blamed us for having the do not disturb on. We had made sure it was Not on (double checked) before we left for dinner. The staff was very friendly - just REALLY distracted with their phones.

Pros: All the staff were incredibly helpful and courteous!
5.1 OK
Pros: The only thing I can really say is that the location of this hotel room is right in the middle of everything. An the shower was great
Cons: Where do I start, first off the rooms don't match the picture online. The staff there is very rude. The only way I was able to get any help from them was to ask to speak to the manager. The beds there look like something from 1980's . There is no door on the bathroom so if you want to us the bathroom if you have family, friends with you you have to use the lobby bathroom. The parking fee for this place is way to high your best to drive 2 blocks down an park your own car for $15.00 instead of paying the hotel room $55.20.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel staff were always attentive and helpful.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The ideal location in Dupont Circle Washington D.C. over-shadowed some of the quirks in the room configuration. Very nice bar & restaurant in the lobby.
Cons: Not much room to hang clothes or unpack clothes. The lighting in the room and bathroom could have been brighter. The TV could have been on an extension arm or situated in the center of the room. The door-less shower stall was a bit messy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: On my way to the hotel I received a call from the staff of the hotel who informed me my room was upgraded to a suite. This room was FANTASTIC -- great amenities, plenty of space, clean, and a terrific view of Dupont Circle and the National Cathedral that's a mile away. The best hotel experience in DC by far.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Staff very attentive.
Cons: The bathroom doors do not go to the ceiling. Saloon style doors. A little awkward for privacy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Solid hotel for professionals and tourists. Perfect location and excellent service.
Cons: The bar prices are high, as in most hotels.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Clean rooms and great staff.
Cons: The bathroom privacy was not ideal given we were in a two queen bed room with our teenage daughter.

Pros: Great location, great food, great staff, very comfortable.

9.7 Excellent
Pros: The doormen/bell captains, and all the staff were incredibly gracious and helpful. The room was good-sized and well appointed. The location is great with many restaurants in walking distance. The Metro is about 3 blocks away.
Cons: The view from our room was not great, but we didn't care.
2.8 Mediocre
Pros: The hot apple cider in the lobby. Great location.
Cons: The room was filthy. It was NYE so we didn't make a big fuss about it but we were not happy right away. Random sprays of stuff on the walls, a nice little white stain on the bed skirt. The first thing we did was check for bed bugs and luckily there were none. We went out for a nice dinner and when we got back there were security guards in the lobby who stopped us and asked if we were guests but we just nodded and he let us right by. We spent the rest of the night listening to one of our neighbors break glass and toss furniture around- I get it it's NYE but we didn't think this hotel was that kind of place or we never would have paid this much to stay here. The only thing the front desk did was offer us comped breakfast and to have security "look around". The final blow came upon checkout when we found out the valet fee was $50! $50?! Why not offer to comp that instead of breakfast no way we were gonna eat something made in this filthy place.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The decor was excellent. I recommend using the subway, it's a short walk away.
Cons: If it had a pool it would have been perfect, but otherwise it was fantastic. Service at the in-hotel restaurant was slow and food was a little overpriced compared to the excellent food you could get around town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Can rank this as one of the best. Not over the top stuffy but excellent service, clean, active, perfect proximity to all of DC, awesome decor, fabulous staff. We are just so pleased and are excited to know we no longer need to search for a place when we come to DC in the future. It will always be The Melrose.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was great! Super helpful with directions, even gave a couple of Metro cards with $5 on them that they happened to have. They also have a Starbucks in the hotel lobby which was nice.
Cons: No free breakfast, parking was valet only & $34 dollars a night, the pillows in the room were incredibly soft, which some may like but they fell flat so quickly. Also we had a hole in our sheet & one in the comforter. To be honest, I think we were given an outdated room because we paid such a low price. We got the room for $117 a night.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Great pool!
Cons: Did not include parking fee in price.

Pros: Staff did a fabulous job at the free breakfast buffet. They were efficient, friendly, and cheerful amidst a sea of families there over the July 4th weekend. 8 floors, but elevators are extremely efficient. Beautiful atrium. Very close to King Street Metro Station for easy access to DC attractions. Also right off King Street, the main drag in Old Town Alexandria. About a mile's worth of interesting shops and restaurants to walk down to get to the Potomac River. Great place to stay!
Cons: TV channels somewhat limited and a bit fuzzy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Arrived by train at 915AM on check in day, expecting to leave bags and check in later, what a pleasant surprise to find out a room was ready and we could move in. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the breakfast was a great start to our day, and was by no means meager pastries and fruit, but eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, French toast,, oatmeal, grits, and more! The nightly managers reception with drinks, and snacks was a great touch to the end of the day. The hotels location could not be more convenient for travel, Amtrak, and D.C. Metro stations mere steps away, in addition to the The King Street free Trolley. I saw many families enjoying the Hotels amenities as well. We did not park here but the price seemed comparable or less than other area hotels, the price for our Amtrak tickets was about what it would have cost to park, without fuel costs or a stressful drive from Norfolk. Nothing fell short of our expectations, and we will likely make this trip again.
6.5 Good
Pros: This hotel does a wonderful free Breakfast with made to order food and a very efficient staff. The manager receptions at night are also done very well. Good location for access to Old Town Alexandria and the DC Metro.
Cons: The property charges $28 per night for parking in the facility underneath the hotel. There really is no other available parking for this hotel. The parking is dangerous and has overally small spaces in between large concrete pillars. Not only are you paying too much but the parking is impossible. Too many handicapped rooms. We were assigned one when we didn't want one at all. We also were not given the bed type on our reservation. Management didn't care. We were part of a party of 13 people staying at the hotel for an event.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist, her name was Leah. She was very helpful in checking us in.

Pros: We traveled a LONG 10hrs overnight, arrived at 8a. I thought I was going to have to either beg or pay to be able to check in early. Got there and without a problem at all, we got a room. The curtains were dark and the beds were glorious! We only stayed one night, then carried on another day of travel, arrived at our next hotel and what a difference.. Cute little town and very easy to get into DC.
Cons: We ate at the restaurant.. Very over priced and not that good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very attentive, easy free shuttle to nearby Metro stop, quiet clean room with comfortable beds! Bethesda city center offers lots of restaurants.
4.0 OK
Pros: Free parking
Cons: It's 2016, people-- you can't charge for wifi!! I'm not talking about those upgrades they normally try to sell you-- even basic internet was $12 a day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment I walked in I was blown away by the design and look of the lobby. (Though parking was somewhat confusing as there was a lack of signage), I was immediately taken under the front desk attendant's wing as he greeted me warmly and started up a bit of small talk instead of just business. This was much appreciated as I had been in the car alone for about five hours and welcomed a friendly conversation. He was extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming. His directions were clear. As I entered my room on the sixth floor, I was astonished at where I was staying for what I paid. It was beautiful. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, the set up of the room had a positive flow and made sense. It was spacious, a perfect temperature upon arrival and far exceeded my needs for the one night stay. At around 9PM I ordered room service from the hotel restaurant (after the front desk attendant had made a very convincing pitch). When my burger, fries and soda arrived, it arrived in a neatly packaged bag/box lunch-like contraption. No carts, no dishes, no fuss. The food was AMAZING. For the price of room service, I usually steer clear as the food is often soggy, small portions and bland by the time it gets to your room. Not here! Delicious! Locally sourced ingredients, very fair price and the most creative packaging I have ever seen come out of a room service. I am very much looking forward to my next business trip in Bethesda!
Cons: Ha! I liked it all!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy beds, remodel is very modern.
Cons: Low ceilings, outlet placement seems inconvenient
8.2 Excellent
Pros: I like the location and the facility. Great stace and amenities.
Cons: The bathroom door was a sliding bathroom door. The door had several opens that potentially invaded the privacy of other members that stayed with me. The door did not block any indoor bathroom sound.
7.4 Good
Pros: nice new bedroom decor
Cons: VERY POOR LIGHTING in the bedrooms!!!! NO ONE answered the phone despite calling several numbers including the operator tea bags not replaced the following day

Kimpton Lorien Hotel And Spa - Alexandria - Building

8.8 Excellent (688 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Here at the newly renovated Kimpton Lorien Hotel & Spa, we think that weekend vibes can (and should) prevail seven days a week. Life is all about balance; we certainly appreciate a hard day’s work of collaborating with colleagues or sightseeing in the nation’s capital, but we also understand the value of unwinding and recharging at a welcoming spa, in a fine restaurant or in a lush guestroom that offers pampering without the pretension. Our proximity to downtown DC means that guests can easily experience some urban excitement, but our claim as the only hotel spa in Alexandria defines us as a perfect urban retreat in the heart of Old Town. We offer two exceptional restaurants, charming outdoors spaces, naturally-lit meeting rooms, and a West Coast feel that’s both elegant and relaxed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Corner room had 4/5 huge windows. Loved the modern style. Bathroom was gorgeous, comfortable and huge. The staff was EXTREMELY professional and courteous.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I enjoyed my stay at Kimpton Lorien Hotel and Spa in Alexandria, VA. The hotel was conveniently located in Alexandria's Old Town neighborhood and a short uber ride from DC and Arlington. The hotel had the feel of a high end boutique hotel. My room was clean and the front desk staff members were helpful and friendly. There's a spa on site I unfortunately didn't get to visit during this stay however the room service food was excellent and the breakfast across the terrace from the hotel was amazing. I'd highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to the DC Metro area. It wasn't super expensive either I paid about $120 for a week night stay.
Cons: I liked this hotel a lot, nothing to write her.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the atmosphere, close proximity to metro, attentive service desk, vivacious wine tasting, and secluded location.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Lovely large room, nice spa, good gym. Great bathroom, wonderful restaurant and bar. Gorgeous. Wonderful staff. Would stay again.
Cons: Most everything I tried to order from Room Service was "no longer being made - shouldn't be on menu". Green juice, for example. They should print a daily menu and also offer healthier, less pedestrian options.
4.2 OK
Cons: Room was small, cramped, and dark. Bed was uncomfortable. Value was not there.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: love my bed love the bathrooms and amenities love the location & i got a good price
Cons: we lost power during my stay internet is WAYYY TOO EXPENSIVE per day - that should be free it's absurd. staff was spotty - either great, or totally out to lunch bellhops seemed to do a lot more than the concierges
6.2 Good
Pros: The staff was nice and friendly.
Cons: The TV did not work properly and always lost signal. Also for what the hotel offered it was too expensive. I do not mind paying more for something that is worth it but this was not it.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Location for easy access to the metro and the diversions and restaurants on King Street.
Cons: My room was close to the back and ground floor. Consequently I was awakened by the early morning dumpster pickup.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: lovely staff and everyone was kind to my dog
