Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire - Hook - Building
1
9.2 Excellent (930 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Hook, Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire is in a rural location, within a 10-minute drive of Farnham Castle and North Hants Golf Club. Featured amenities include a 24-hour business center, limo/town car service, and express check-in. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free valet parking is available onsite.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff at the Four Seasons are exceptionally nice, as you would expect. The rooms and bathrooms are gorgeous and very comfortable and clean. The hotel is situated on beautiful grounds with a nice lake.
Cons: Unfortunately, we didn't realise before our stay that the Four Seasons Hampshire is known as a family hotel perfect for young kids. As a couple this was not ideal. Breakfast and dinner was incredibly noisy with about 20 children running and screaming pretty uncontrollably. The pool was also full of children. The outdoor jacuzzi, unfortunately, is cold as it is directly attached to the indoor pool (you can swim out). The saunas and relaxation areas are gender separated, so not possible to spend some quiet time with your partner there either. Overall, this is a great hotel for families with small kids, but I would definitely not recommend it for a couple's getaway.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The swimming pool and relaxation facilities were exceptional. really warm large pool and excellent steam and sauna facilities. Plenty of towels and comfortable loungers. the food breakfast and dinner was of a high standard but the continental buffet looked a little dry exposed too long under the lights
Cons: The geography within the hotel was complicated and badly directed. For example reaching the lift to the restaurant there was no obvious sign whether to go up or down outside or within the lift. The table layout was a little strange at breakfast, no side plate, a spoon in a mug with no obvious place to put it after use. Bathroom was excellent but only one basin in a luxury top of the range room? Also a lack of places to hang ones towel .
9.7 Excellent
Pros: We loved how family orientated the hotel and staff were.
Cons: Only slight criticism is that I would say the main restaurant was just slighting expensive for what you get
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything about this hotel from start to finish. The welcome is warm, friendly and efficient. The rooms are sumptuous and well designed (they have the best beds!) with beautiful countryside views. The dining options are all first class from the Wild Carrot restaurant to the Library for afternoon tea. The spa is the perfect spot to relax and unwind after long country walks (we recommend the canal walk with lunch at the Barley Mow pub... but be sure to bring your wellies!). All in all the perfect end to our winter holiday - thank you FS Hampshire!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great: rooms, food; surrounding outdoor area, hotel, staff, children’s pool, adults pool and spa... overall very family friendly hotel and the staff is very helpful.
Cons: Menu could offer more choices especially lunch menu which was the bar benu

8.0 Excellent
Cons: Decor was a bit tired
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Hotel is very tired. Facilities would have been top notch 20years ago. More effort required and certainly more investment
4.5 Okay
Pros: The staff were friendly and helpful
Cons: The hotel room was grotty and in need of a deep clean and revamp.Bathroom was full of limescale and the sink didnt drain away. the ceilings were damp stained and you could here upstairs walking across the room. The sheets didn't fit the bed. you had the pay for the WIFI. The infomation about the spa was grotty faded and unappealing. The evening meal was disappointing (worst curry I've tried ever - chicken tasted dodgy so I didnt eat it) Bar guy was a really nice guy but desperately needed a shirt that fitted him. It all looked very tired - worn out carpets saggy sofas sticky tables.
4.2 Okay
Cons: The staff at the reception were rude. The heating in our room broke and was on the whole night. extremely hot like a sauna. When I raised this with reception, the response from the lady was: 'This is what happens when you book the budget rooms'... Seriously???
7.0 Good
Pros: Comfortable and quiet and good parking for a large van nothing
Cons: Nothing only stayed one night but will return
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Bathroom wasn't clean, mirror dirty, toilet cracked and leaking. Bed covers itchy and cushion looked like it had BLOOD stain on it hardly any tv channels and a dirty MUG. Do a lot of travelling and this was the worst we have stayed in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great price, great facilities. Pool lovely and warm
Cons: Having to pay to swim.. if a family of 4 were to swim each day it would cost a fortune.
5.1 Okay
Pros: The hotel seems very tired and needs uplifting. Smells of damp around conservatory entrance.
6.7 Good
Pros: Staff on the bar were great
Cons: Tired, dated and dirty in placed. A Smashed glass outside in back garden for whole of the stay
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were roomy, with a large bathroom, beds were comfortable, the gym and pool are really useful if you like that sort of thing. Staff very helpful and friendly
Cons: Limited breakfast menu, as best I can tell no full english was available or cereals a continental breakfast or bacon and sausage baps were about where it was at. Lunch and dinner menus were ok!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The service was excellent and very large comfortable rooms. The decor in the room was a bit dated, but as this hotel is just lovely in every way it isn’t an issue. Have a feeling in time the whole hotel will be updated as the main rooms were beautifully contemporary with nice period features.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Poor standard of the room - not worth that price , jacuzzi was not working, dirty sofas
6.7 Good
Cons: Shower did not work properly
7.0 Good
Pros: Grounds are beautiful!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location and the rooms were lovely. Really nice, modern and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The spa treatment was good however the spa facilities was not that special and could really do with being modernised and done up a bit. It was however and beautiful venue and we enjoyed our stay even though we were a bit disappointed with the spa
7.5 Good
Pros: The character and traditional features The fireplaces were great with open fires. Large size room and bathroom.
Cons: Some facilities in the bedroom were tatty. Our bath was broken with a big crack in the sides. Mirror lights were loose and mismatched. The shower holder was also cracked.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and spacious and really well presented. Breakfast was included in our price and was excellent. We stopped in the bar in the evening and enjoyed fantastically made cocktails.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very dog friendly, great size rooms. My dogs loved the patio doors straight out onto the grounds
7.0 Good
Pros: The restaurant food was really good and staff were very friendly.
Cons: some issues in bedroom but they did more us :-)
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Evening meal. Very good starter and main course, just average dessert though. Chef definitely a cut above the rest in the savory, but dessert not the same standard. I would recommend a meal here even though the dessert not up to the high standard of the first two courses.
Cons: Breakfast staff not organised. I had completed my breakfast and still hadn't been asked whether I wanted a tea or coffee. Only scrambled egg ready cooked.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was lovely and looked freshly decorated. Comfy bed, although we are used to a king size so did feel a little squashed. All bed linen and towels were very clean as was the room itself. Dinner was first class and breakfast had a good selection of hot food (help yourself buffet style) and pastries, cheese and cereal, toast and juices.
Cons: We stayed in a refurbished room in the main house. The decor was lovely and the ensuite was nicely updated. However we found it was missing the little things that we all need, i.e no mirror yet there is a nice dressing table and a hairdryer supplied and the only mirror available is in the bathroom but not practical to use for drying/styling hair. Only 4 coat hangers in wardrobe and no coat hooks for hanging outdoor coats. Nowhere to put soap once you washed your hands so had to leave it on flat sink surround. Finally a shelf would be useful in the shower for shampoo & shower gel.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: My room was fabulous, with a huge comfortable bed and a wonderful view. Staff were all friendly and attentive as usual. Breakfast was lovely.
Cons: The only thing I didn't really like was the coffee at breakfast

8.1 Excellent (348 reviews)
Overview Reviews

7.1 Good
Cons: Location Kayak described it as Southampton, it's best Reading !!!!!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room with bath. Good food (bar meal) and breakfast. Staff very good indeed.
Cons: Nothing adverse to comment on
7.0 Good
Pros: It's very quiet and the ground sare pleasant. the staff are great, always had a smile and the food was of a high standard for a hotel in the price bracket. Lots of parking and it is remote enough to feel like you are away from the city without being actually to difficult to get to.
Cons: The room is basic and a little bland - they have cleverly managed to remove any sense of character that the stately house could have had. That said it won't offend anyone and everyone gets the same treatment. The breakfast was a bit limited in scope, a few more healthy options would be very much appreciated - not everyone can do a full English every day.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was clean, warm and had lovely view. Tea, coffee and milk and biscuit provided, along with iron, ironing board and hairdryer. Staff very nice and took my case up to my room for me which I was really pleased about after a long and tiring day. Breakfast available but I didnt have this.
Cons: Carpets were obviously vacuum cleaned but they were stained and really needed a deep clean. Window was banging in the wind and I had to wedge some tissue between panes to stop it banging. Bed a little bit hard and pillows not great. Needed some bottled water in room and also a better shower head as water came out too slowly. Shower cubicle slippery.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The charge for the dog was not mentioned until check out. Breakfast on a weekend does not start until 8:30 Which for me was too late
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Single room is excellent value for money in Fir tree annexe.
Cons: shower instead of bath in 31
9.0 Excellent

Overview Reviews
Located in Hook, The Elvetham Hotel is a 4-minute drive from West Green House Garden and 9 minutes from Wellington Country Park. Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Elvetham and its surrounds, are simply amazing. What a privilege to stay in amongst such history. Thanks must be offered to all who have kept this place alive and available at such a reasonable cost. Loved the art, the facilities (we did stay in the suite) and helpfulness of staff. Great bed, bedding and towels. The grounds were simply beautiful for early winter morning walks. And well lit at night. Will miss this place.
Cons: Found the breakfast to be a little basic and predictable. Would have preferred a good coffee and nicer bread selection. So value for money, don’t come just for breakfast. But the atmosphere of the place means this is forgiven.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location. Very peaceful.
Cons: Geared for weddings and corporate functions, less so for individual bookings. Had to walk 50 yards outside to breakfast every morning. Luckily the weather was kind to us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked the whole experience of staying there from the polite and friendly staff, to the ambience of the hotel and our bedroom in the stables
Cons: Maybe more bar staff when there is a function on As the poor bar tender was rushed of his feet at times
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely mansion with lots of character. Top class breakfast, excellent fruit salad and cooked option too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is good as it is not on the main road so it is peaceful. The breakfasts are excellent and the cut comb honey is a special favourite with us. The staff are all very pleasant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very spacious room, comfortable bed, lovely large fluffy towels. Excellent breakfast, good value.
Cons: There was nothing not to like, it's a stunning location.

Cons: Nothing
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Big room, great breakfast. Always looking to help if needed. Dinners were excellent.
Cons: Bathroom needed a little TLC
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was good. The location was pretty good for us but not easy to get a taxi within the area, we were only about 8 miles from our family gathering, but taxi companies didn't seem to want to cover the area.
7.0 Good
Pros: Full English breakfast was delicious
Cons: Decor was tired - mould on the bathroom ceiling, bath and sink chipped, toilet moved when being used.
6.7 Good
Pros: Lovely countryside, cleanish accommodation, easy check-in process, friendly bartender upon check-in - nice country pub atmosphere upon check-in.
Cons: Very old furniture, room, wallpaper etc. The bedroom door cannot be easily locked. I would not mind this that much however the morning staff should have been more polite. There was a man behind the reception and two women leaning on the reception desk. Upon check out I was given my invoice. I was not asked about my stay or anything else - however I was asked where am I from as an only question. I am not from the UK, so when I answered, the woman leaning on my left hand side turned to the man and said in a rather jolly fashion ‘Oh look, that is exactly what you guessed, well done’. So basically they have been guessing where I am from prior to me turning up on reception. Not very nice especially as there was no other polite friendly interaction prior to this. Don’t get me wrong, if there has been a friendly exchange of words before this, this would not feel out of place. But there was nothing, except me ordering breakfast from this man in the morning. Also when you work at customer services you should understand that certain people might not be up for random, out of place questions. Even if a question is fine for you, it might not be fine for your customer. After this I asked if I could wait in the building for my taxi in the next ten minutes, which I did. Whilst I was waiting I listened to the three people’s conversation/gossip - I would rather not mention what I heard. Perhaps they believed that just because I was out of sight, I do not hear? Or maybe they thought I don’t understand English? :) Perhaps be careful what you speak about when you work. It is very unprofessional and it makes guests who perhaps don’t share certain views uncomfortable. Due to my equine practicals at the stables I would have needed a hotel for Tuesday nights and wanted to book again, if everything went well due to the New Inn’s location. I will certainly not do this after today. In fact I regretted to spend £70.00, it was definitely not worth it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Always clean , friendly staff good food

7.0 Good
Pros: A very warm reception. Good food and well presented.
Cons: The bedroom could have been better with a chair to sit on.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at The Poacher Inn for two nights in between Christmas and New Year as our Christmas gifts to each other. The welcome was very friendly. The room was lovely, clean, well presented with a comfortable bed and plenty of space including a dressing table, relaxing chair and tea and coffee facilities. The food was delicious and varied and the staff were all really pleasant and were actually the best part of the whole stay. I'm vegetarian and when I asked for a vegetarian full cooked breakfast was presented with a delicious spread of two hash browns, a fried egg, baked beans, tomatoes and mushrooms - more than enough to keep me going all day! We took our chihuahua with us and it was very easy to take her outside for her "business" as there were plenty of entrances and exits to choose from. She was allowed in the bar area with us where we ate and enjoyed settling down in front of the wood fire as much as us. There's plenty of parking and it's easy to find as it's on the main road but that didn't make it noisy as it's a quiet road. I don't often give top scores but for this one I happily give ten of out ten and would stay again if back in the area.
Cons: We are avid tea drinkers and it would have been nice to have the tea and coffee refilled for our second day but I guess if we were that bothered we would have asked... ;)

Cons: Everything was good

Pros: all of it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One or two more road signs after the one off the m3 would help. Sat nav is challenging around the myriad of lights and filter lanes and one more turn left sign would have saved me a 5 mile “missed it” drive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely well kept, staff excellent and attentive, nothing that could really be improved on.
5.7 Okay
Pros: The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable. The hotel was quiet even though we were on the first floor i expected some noise. It was nice and relaxing.
Cons: The Receptionist needs to be re trained. The girl we had i could almost understand her english, therefore delaying my checking in process. I found her to be quite ignorant and she rarely answered the phone when ringing from my room. The price of drinks and food in the hotel is very expensive.
6.3 Good
Pros: It is conveniently situated in walking distance from the town and near the business park
Cons: There was an appreciable gap between the door to the room and the floor. This meant that noise from the corridor was disturbing

Cons: Heaters not working I had to move room still not working
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location and pleasant staff. Nice to have an accessible room but would obviously be nicer to have had a shower rather than a bath so didn’t use those facilities as we were only staying one night.
Cons: Room was very bright, great for the daytime but not so great when trying to sleep in the early morning light. Should have swapped beds with my companion as in the morning it turned out his single bed was too soft for him and my single bed was too firm for me!
7.0 Good
Pros: Surprisingly comfy bed; spacious; quiet
Cons: Various smells through the reception/corridors could be addressed
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient, comfortable, good value for money and friendly staff.
Cons: Nothing everything was as expected.
7.0 Good
Pros: Staff extremely helpful, polite and friendly. Clean, tidy and spacious room.
Cons: Facilities basic, but for a motorway service area was totally fine.
2.0 Mediocre
Cons: I was on a bike trip and looked for a hotel near Southampton. Kayak gave me this option and I booked it. While location field said "Welcome Break Service Area, Southampton" it was 53 miles away from Southampton. I realized that then asked google maps for directions right after booking. Immediately I let them know about the mistake. Their answer was that I must pay anyway.

Pros: The chef in particular & restaurant staff were extremely good, I have to follow a Gluten Free, Lactose Free way of eating. I also cannot have onion & garlic so it’s sometimes difficult eating out. They went the extra mile to accommodate me which made dining enjoyable.
Cons: Strange bulky & noisy wooden window shutters in our room (we booked an executive room). Definitely not what I would expect in a bedroom, made it very warm & stuffy at night. Nice black-out curtains would be far better & add to the look of the room.

7.0 Good
Pros: A very warm reception.
Cons: We are avid tea drinkers and it would have been nice to have the tea and coffee refilled for our second day but I guess if we were that bothered we would have asked... ;)

Pros: The service was excellent and very large comfortable rooms. The decor in the room was a bit dated, but as this hotel is just lovely in every way it isn’t an issue. Have a feeling in time the whole hotel will be updated as the main rooms were beautifully contemporary with nice period features.
