I only slept in the room so cannot comment The room and bedlinen smelt strongly of cigarette smoke, which as a non smoker was quite unpleasant
Location not far from Keele University, enough free parking space, friendly staff (especially at breakfast!). Bed was good. Bathroom dated and not very clean, small shower, no shampoo. Bedroom a bit stuffy, blankets old and inadequate.Had to go up and down quite a few flights of stairs. Not the best value for money.
Larger room than they had guaranteed. Quiet, clean, good facilities. No shampoo
Friendly staff Very basic room,
nothing room very small and in poor state, bed so uncomfortable, bathroom and shower cubicule grubby, curtains did not match and were hanging off.
Breakfast was g8 The heating was pooor and the bed were really small and we also had problem with the hot water
We found the car parking most convenient.Although given a double room, not a twin as ordered, this was soon sorted.
hated the back ground music played at breakfast times in the dining room
That the rooms are appart from the maenbuilding The hotel is sadly enough located in a poor neighbourhood
n/a £4 per hour for internet and only available in bar/took 1 hour to connect. No shampoo or hairdryer in room. Lights not working. Parking not available until 21.30 as priority given to function not guests.
Friendly helpful staff This was supposed to be booked as an anniversary surprise. Phone call to home to check name of second person staying ruined the surprise. Advised hotel of problem no mention or token compensation received. Not fantastic value for money.
Suite facilities very good - comfortable bed, well fitted bathroom. Excellent service in bar and dining room, although only one (very efficient) server. Room rate good and dining / wine cost reasonable. I would have preferred sofa's or two armchairs within the suite rather than quite uncomfortable bench seats with seat cushion and no back. Also lighting in seating area a little dim - ok for leisure purposes but insufficent for business purpose reading, unless using bed reading lights provided, and laying down. Should advise guests with mobility problems of hilly nature of surrounds and numerous stairs on route between guest wing and reception / dining areas.
Well maintained and modern establishment. Pleasant setting. The fact that you had to go throught the Gym to get to your room and having to pay £3.95 for bread with my meal.
The guy in the bar was very pleasant We booked on line but there was no record of the booking on arrival. We had print out of booking and a room was found after a 30 minute wait in the bar.The receptionist dealt with us. No apology from the manager! We used it as an overnight stay while visiting friends in Stone.More a spa than a hotel.
Nice hotel, staff were friendly. Often felt that I was paying over the odds though. Room was what I expected for a 5-star. Spa facilities were very impressive and were most definitely the highlight of our stay. Slightly disappointed that the rooms did not have any air conditioning. It was also disappointing that the Elemis shower products in the hotel room and spa area had all been watered down, or at least seemed that way. Poor vegetarian option at restaurant.
exceletent room, gym,restaurant and SPA
Relaxed a lot stayed overnight, used the swimming pool, steamroom, and sauna had two treatments, had the weather been better would have explored the grounds yes haveing to walk through the gym to get anywhere
Suites are very well appointed and the food was lovely. Service was also efficient and attentive.
The staff realy tries to make your stay as comfortable as possible Breakfast could do with some eggs
Nothing, I would definately not reccommend this hotel to anybody! Charged us twice for rooms! Didn't sort this out until we threatened legal action! Very unwelcoming, blood stained walls, horribly dirty carpet, bedding, broken bathroom doorknob, window was broken, rooms were really hot and smelt like indian takeaway? Breakfast was horrible. Told us when we arrived at the hotel that we only had 8 rooms booked, after we left they charged our card for 10 rooms, whereas we only used 8! Yes, this is budget accommodation, but I didn't expect this budget, would have been better staying at a hostel!
good clean atmosphere. hassle free. very basic breakfast. no remote controls for tv.
The sheets were clean, and the water was hot. The staff were friendly. Everything in the room looked "tired" and the room smelled of smoke. There was no plug in sink, the light over the mirror didn't work, and the toilet required 3 or 4 heavy pushes on the flush before anything happened. The windows were dripping with condensation. The bedspread looked very grubby. Our "continental" breakfast was a piece of soggy toast and a cup of tasteless coffee.
staff were freindly condition of room
Easy access for Trentham Gardens The heat in the rooms was a little unbareable, the window was open but the noise of the traffic and trains meant the windows had to be closed during the night. The radiator was on a very hot temp in the hall outside our room. We did feel that the one part of the hotel looked a little fresher & newly decorated as it smelled very nice walking through the hall, but we were put into the older part of the building which I think until recently was the smoking rooms. This part was a little staler smelling and the doors were very old compared to the newly decorated part of the hotel. The hotel was not full at the time,so I wonder why we were not given rooms which had been decorated. On the whole it served our purpose as we were only there for a short stay to go to our daughters graduation
the hotel was not much, but thats what you get for such a cheap rate, but dont get me wrong, it is still alright for people who dont mind not having the usual hotel luxury -not any that i can think of-
No food available. A pity because the bar and dining are lovely and there are very few restaurants near by.
The hotel was dirty and in need of a serious refurbishment. In the lobby, there was a distinct smell of someone smoking drugs. There were several members of staff stood around here, but i would not like to speculate as to who was smoking. I would advise against staying here. I am a contractor, and this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, with over 15 years experience of hotels.
it was homely
the facililties swwimming, etc were good Lack of a mini bar in the room The food was very expensive . (20 pounds for a 3-course meal) and yet it was just like a normal pub lunch. It gets more expensive with the silly service charge ?
Excellent location for Potteries visits in and around Stoke. Good quality hotel with a good leisure complex at a very good price. Very minor....TV in the room, was old and not very many channels..i.e. not even Freeview channels
Only downside was cost of Breakfast. £12.95 is a bit steep when you need a minimal breakfast! It was more than a 2-course evening meal!
Quiet location. Good parking facilities. Good quality evening meal, buffet style. Were given a good price for having meal and breakfast.
leisure facilities and breakfast we have two young kids but given a double bed and a sofa bed which. was crowded and we did not sleep well at all. As two kids did not want to share the sofa bed so one of each adult had to sleep with a kid. The sofa bed was small and too soft, not comfortable at all. I think the staff could have given us a biger room.
swimming pool and gym
Good location and excellent value. Friendly and helpful staff.
Very conveniently located. Despite being near the M6 it was very quiet and a nice spot. Great for the Potteries or south Cheshire ( we needed both)Lovely breakfast. Efficient, helpful staff. It perfectly suited our short term requirements. Would have been over priced at the regular rate - as would breakfast.Don't think the hotel interior equated with the price we saw at the desk.Slightly shabby for that. Skirtings were very dusty The reduced rate and breakfast "vouchers" made it more do-able.
The staffs service was sensational, they were friendly welcoming and talkative. I dont think I have had service this good in the last few years. n/A
Bar in front of the reception. Breakfast is ok with some range of selection. Restaurant was not good. Lack of selection, not good service. Convenient to take dinner at bar.
Very freindly staff; nice rooms and reastuarant/pub; excellent breakfast; nice ambiance None
The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was pleasant and well equipped and breakfast was freshly cooked to order. The evening meal I had in the restaurant was also very good value.
The peace and quiet, friendly staff, countryside location Having to pick up key in pub when reception was closed. The unmanned reception entrance, door to accomodation block was frequently left unlocked after hours, and could be 'put on the snick' by anyone at any time, so left open. Securitywise not very reassuring,
The room was really nice - spacious and clean and the bed very comfortable. The menu in the bar/ restaurant was sufficiently varied with plenty to choose from. Although the service was good, it wasn't amazing. For example, at no point did anyone ask if 'everything was ok' (at evening meal, breakfast or even when we left). Also, little points like there being no Sambuca (a fairly standard after dinner drink) in the bar and, at breakfast, there were no milk jugs on the tables so had used a glass to take some milk to their table.
Warm and comfortable. Excellent breakfast.
It was a very good stop for our journey from E. Scotland to Somerset. The beds were very comfortable, and so soft - more used to harder mattresses, but slept very well.
Wonderful staff, very friendly! Tired looking room, nothing like the adverts
Simple, to the point and efficient. Clean, welcoming and helpful. Perfect for a short stop-over beisde the motorway. Not 5 star, but certainly not 1 star either. What it says on the tin. Recomended for mianly stopovers, ... and maybe even a little longer. Shame food is not included in the great price. The discount is better than nothing though (essentially 10%)
Friendly welcome from Receptionist Wire loose on towel rail heater (rendering it unsafe to use) Grout and under hand rails and taps in bath /shower area filthy.
Cost and size of room Breakfast in the services
The location is good - very close to the M6 and with a well-stocked service station shop nearby. Unfortunately this hotel is very dated, particularly the bedroom furniture. The mattress was extremely lumpy and when mentioning this to the receptionist it seems this is a known problem at this hotel. The room was also rather cold and the heating didn't seem to work properly.
Fuss free and helpful check in. Excellent Receptionist. Internet Booking asks if you have any special requirements (eg late arrival) and then proceeds to say that these requirements may not be available. When you are going to be a late arrival you need to know whether the hotel is going to be open. Unnecessarily we rushed to get there and then did find 24 hour reception!
Clean, comfortable, quiet The cost never seems to be what's advertised
Excellent greeting from exceptionally nice gentleman on duty. Very comfortable beds, good linen, comfortable pillows and bedding, very good restful and tasteful decor for the price Very strong unpleasant odour drains or carpet, made worse as window was closed and room hot on arrival. Knew hotel was full so sprayed lavender around and slept with window open which was of course noisy with traffic!
Staff I encountered were pleasant, polite and co-operative. Unphased by my changing mind in dining room Hotel bedroom a bit tired. Only one small towel in bedroom. Top floor bath fittings loose and insufficient hot water flow or temperature. More an observation than complaint, the web info said last room available but I overheard a walk-in book a room - and breakfast was not that busy.
pleasant surroundings, the hotel is located away from the road. Staff were very efficient and helpful. Nice lounge & bar. Didn't get a chance to use leisure facilities, I'm afraid. soft bed; room was a bit cold; bathroom seemed a bit institutional & flush didn't work properly; carpet in the room very old with burn mark
Helpful receptionist Had requested non-smoking for both rooms but one room had to be changed as it was a smoking room and the smell of smoke was extremely noticeable.
Close to where I needed to be the following day on business. Comfortable - been before and know to expect good value and excellent staff service and attention. Breakfast included is a bonus.
attitude of reception staff, as it was before 2pm when we arrived, the television was not even plugged in, when we plugged it in we found it was not working due to the ariel wire being broken, the bathroom needed refurbishment as the paper was hanging off the ceiling and did not feel very clean overall
Good internet access. Comfortable bed. Nice big room. Room service was prompt and okay. Tv a bit fuzzy Room a bit drafty - windows not double glazed so had to have curtains closed. Room a bit dated. Woken a few times during the night - noisy guests - but also everytime corridor door shut, bedroom door banged a little.
The distance from the activity we were travelling to do. The breakfast seemed to have a lot of variety and was in a buffet style and hot. We tried to make a reseveration on arrival for the following night and after doing so were sent to two different rooms which were not made up. We then asked the reception if it would be easier if we went for a drink as we did not want to keep going to rooms which were not ready for us. We arrived at around 4.30pm. We got into our room and it seemed pleasant and clean. We then found it difficult to order room service, after having the phone hung up on us we finally managed to order and on arrival to the room we were not given the correct cutlery to eat with. No soup spoon and only one fork and knife between us. The food was ok, but the time taken to order this and going from phoning reception to the room service number was very frustrating.
Staff very helpfull nothing
Staff were pleasant and helpful
facilities, i.e. pool, jacuzzi breakfast
Room was lovely, very big with a comfortable bed and a big bathroom with good facilities. Hotel itself was very grand and nice. Bar had a friendly atmosphere with a quiz on the evvening I was staying there. Breakfast the next morning was very nice as well. Tv remote didn't work at first, but this was soon replaced. The signal was also very bad to the tv as there was only a small portable areial. The staff generally were very nice and attentive, but did look a little perplexed and amused when I asked if I could have dinner in the bar rather than the deserted restaurant. As a lone traveller I didn't really want to sit and eat by myself in a big empty room. Dinner itself was also not quite up to my expectations given the price. Area the hotel is in wasn't that nice either, but was close to where I had to be the next day.
was nice and warm and comfortable the tv in the room didnt work we reported it but nothing was done
The breakfast was good value - cereal, toast and a full English for £5 The hotel was clean and tidy but rather 'tired'. The shower was hot but not hugely powerful. The room was very warm - but then I find all hotel rooms have the heating on much too high (and I like being warm). We asked for a triple and a twin room and I rang up to find out if the Triple was a twin plus single or a double plus single. I was assured that it was a twin plus single (as we wanted) but when we got there it was a double plus single.
Nothing - it was dreadful from the moment we walked in . We arrived late due to the weather - got there at 8.45pm . At the check in desk was 2 people arguing with the reception man about a bill for drinks - the couple were swearing & vulgar . We had booked 2 executive rooms . One of our couples got a room that was tiny - much smaller than advertised but when the called the reception the man said he thaught it was an executive room but we would have to contact them another time if not happy . The other room was large but cramped with furniture . There was no heating & it was minus 8 outside . We called the reception but the man said he couldnt do anything about it . It was by now gone 10pm so we had no choice but to stay in freezing room & a room that was tiny . What a dreadful hotel .
Staff Food - the evening meal was terrible!
Friendly helpful staff Inadequate hotel parking and the rooms need the decor updating
Very friendly welcome and helpful staff
Staff delightful, bed very comfy, prepared to be flexible when we arrived early, good breakfast Unable to turn of radiators.... Very hot. Had to open windows.....very noisy (loose manhole cover on the road outside driven over every few minutes) had to shut windows.........very hot etc., etc.,
Excellent customer service. Our 2nd room Had a curtain down and they were promptly changed rooms Not enough hot water Bar food expensive but poor
Spacious room in a wonderful old building with loads of character. Friendly staff, always keen to help. Building and rooms a little 'tired', albeit warm and comfy. Bar meal disappointing.
The re-furbished areas are good The non-refurbished areas less so but efforts were made to explain and the price was fair
Easily accessible from the M1
Central to travel routes, good parking Bar prices were pretty steep, 2 double vodka's a can of redbull & an archers and lemonade - £17 plus! Defeats the object of looking for a cheaper rate on the internet with such high bar/meal prices. Though the staff were extremely friendly and happy to help.
lovely room and beautiful hotel
Need good decoration upstairs where are the bedrooms.
Good position for business. 24 hour check in is useful
You get what you pay for. It was clean and the staff were helful. The pillows were very hard. We booked for a double but on arrival to the room discovered two singles. They couldnt move us as was fully booked. Not the end of the world. Also quite a few children running up and down the corridor. It was half term however.
It was very easy to arrange and we just wanted a bed for the night which this provided.
All the staff were very polite. No, there was nothing we didn't like. There were young children with lots of energy who run up and down the corridor till quite late [9-9.30pm] and early morning, this did not spoil the stay, children do have to use it up in some way................what a shame we can't plug them into the national grid, think of the money we'd save!!!!
Staff was excellent, very helpful. Walking distance to Britannia. A good value for what it was, breakfast was adequate. I would think most of their customer base are football fans, so not to have sports channels in the rooms or at least in the lobby is a service they are missing.
You know what to expect with these hotels, so no surprises. Bed's were too soft and moved around on their wheels too easily. For the money they charge, they should offer a cooked breakfast.
Great staff And Rooms were very Tidy.
The walk across a dark car park for an evening meal.
excellent location for where we were going, convenient, good service, no dramas!!!
it was well situated and had on paper good facilities staff were totally disinterested, particularly in the bar area. everything was very run down.
easy access to local attractions decor needs updating
Excellent staff attitude and willingness to help, Room very clean bed comfortable Four rooms were booked and these comments apply to all Rooms were far to hot, floor boards creaky, showing sign of wear and req decorating water pressure low
when we first arrived we were given keys to room number 001 and when we went to the room we saw a pull out bed and there was a smell in the room we then realised the room was also used as a conference room so we imediatly rang to ask for another room then another couple from our party were opposite a strip club and the noise was atrotious
Smell of tobacco stale smoke in the room. No towel rail, no toilet roll holder
The room was nice and spacious for a single rate and the restaurant food was good The leisure facilities were small, old and limited. I booked this hotel mainly for the leisure facilities. Foreign restaurant staff who had limited English
Staff were friendly, but did not know much about the area. Room was booked as family room, but stank of stale tobacco and BO. The hotel is 'tired' and really needs decorating and bringing up to date. The staff are ambivalent, not local, and don't really care about their jobs/guests. When we commented on the smell in the room the reply was" what do you expect us to do about it, change all of the curtains etc. The ban only came' in this month?" Not really what we expected to hear. The food was definately of the boil in the bag variety', and that included the ice cream, which had never seen any liquid related to cream what-so-ever.
Hotel near town centre Beds in poor condition
the room was spacious clean comfortable and ideal for my family ,it was perfectly situated, the hotel staff were very helpful.
Nice bar staff. uncomfortable bed.
Service was excellent and all the staff very friendly
The attentiveness of all staff at the hotel - nothing was too much trouble No complaints whatsoever
Character and central location Having to pay for internet access- decided to wait untill my next destination to access my emails
All staff were helpful and friendly....
the locaction is excellent, staff very friendly, will be back again
Lovely large room and bathroom with particularly efficient shower. Very comfortable bed and sitting facilities.
Staff were friendly and efficient and the room was lovely; comfortablke, spotlessly clean and full of character. We arrived late evening, so we especially enjoyed having pre-dinnner drink in comfy surroundings before a delicious dinner at the excellent restaurant. We were there for only one night but are already talking about when we might return for a longer stay
Quality of rooms and bars Loud musak in Bars and dining room. No real ale
The lovely restaurant supervisor at breakfast (I think she was Spanish?). She had the most fantastic customer service attitude, and nothing was too much trouble. A real hard working smiling face.
The all atmosphere was good I was very dissapointed in the breakfast, we was down for breakfast at eight and had to tell the waitress at 8.25 that we needed to order breakfast as we were on business, We was late for business and this did not please me.
Good comfortable well-appointed accommodation in a convenient location close to the M6. The service in the restaurant during our evening meal was a bit slow.
the layout of the hotel was excellent everything was easy to get to from the car parks to the reception and the lounge right through to the rooms none
No problems; hassle free; excellent receptionist. Friendly staff
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
We have been staying here for last 15 years we are seeing it slowly decline which is a great shame. Very noisy Thin Walls, kept awake all night by room next door. Bed too small
Very pleasant Reception staff, helpful and friendly. No
Helpful friendly staff Long queue at checkout
The decor & staff. The restaurant let the whole place down, although they do good steak. Some of the facilities - restaurant - were poor - food also was very poor. I would recommend only a nights stay - no food
staff v helpful no
warm and frendly the tv did not show all channels and some like itv keep freezing
Very efficent booking online and everything confirmed well and reception staff were very efficient explaining breakfast, eating establishments and directions etc. Could do with toiletries in the room, bar of soap, flannel etc.
Smily face when we arrived very wet from walking 80 yards from 24 hour pay and display car park ( hotel one closed) to be given a ticket to take back to car. She was also efficient at necessary room change though smile wore thin when, in the morning, I reported a second room maintenance issue for the benefit of future guests. The bed as usual in Premier Inns was very comfortable. Very very noisy bathroom fan which was clearly faulty but we were immediately offered a room change. Despite the previous recommendations for the Shire Horse next door which was excellent in ambiance we both had a terrible thirst all night long after our meals. In my opinion there are better Premier Inns locally.
Friendly helpful staff
Great room, very clean, well finished Busy reception with a number of people waiting to check in; only one receptionist.
The location was good to visit Stafford centre, the rooms were very clean and well stocked with clean linen and towels.. Also, the tea and coffee in room was welcomed. The breakfast times are not acceptable for people who are on holiday, it mainly caters for business people who need to be out on the road before 9 am. We were told we must be finished breakfast by 9am and indeed everything was cleared on the dot at 9am. We occupied 2 rooms and paid in excess of £350 for 2/3 nights with young baby. If you are on holiday this is not the place to stay with a family as you have to plan to rise very early if you want breakfast.
I liked the location it was easy to visit the city for shopping and relatives who live near by. The pool was lovely and my husband used the gym. The reception staff were very helpfull and friendly. My husband and I found the room a little too dark. We struggled to see the controlls for the air con and joked that we should have brought a torch. We loved the wet room and the shower head but as I am quite short it would have been usefull to have a shower cap provided.
Nice staff and wonderful Breakfast!!! Also, had a lovely evening meal in the Shire Horse which is a lovely "old style" inn just next door.
Room was excellent - large, clean and comfortable. Adjacent pub had really friendly staff and excellent food both at dinner and breakfast - a real find, would definitley return
The comfortable bed! No complaints
The hotel staff were very helpful in finding us a room with early check in. We were impressed with the staff at the pub attached. Someone had taken the time to really stress customer service to them. The food was excellent and the room very comfortable after a days conference at Keele University. None.
Peaceful. Relaxed. Garden suite was lovely.
The hotel and room was very good.. The evening meal was very poor.
The hotel was nice and informal, staff very nice. Although the food was good, it needs to settle on a style - the menu was a bit mixed. Saying that, the breakfast was excellent!
Staff very friendly. Hotel gardens beautiful. Food excellent Little things. I had to find some one to take my menu order for dinner. Breakfast bowls for cerial where not out on the table, and it took me 15 mins to find someone, in the end I asked the cleaner. the evening meal dished had not been cleared away from the night before. The tv remote was missing from my room. As the hotel was not full this could have been resolved by giving me one from another room.
It had a nice garden The address on the internet booking form was incorrect and took us to a destination that resulted in a 50 kilometer detour
Pleasant, peaceful hotel.
Very Friendly Staff. Good Clean Room Food Very Good Quality But Most Items Over Priced
Room was clean with tea making fascilities, bed comfortable. Run out of kippers for breakfast but was offered salmon, good coffee.
The surroundings The menu needs to have more variety
The location of the hotel is fantastic as it is in a quiet placE that also gives you the chance to walk around. The staff was really friendly and helpful and the service in the restaurant including the food was great. I would have liked if the room was bigger and if there were more luxuries in the bathroom as to get the value of the money that were spent.
The pleasantness and helpfulness of the staff Nothing to dislike
very impressed by the warm welcome to my wife and family on arrival. Food was excellent. Generally very comfotable & friendly hotel. would have preferred a swimming pool on site. Otherwise can't fault the hotel.
The room was large, beds very comfortable, pub was adjoining hotel Nothing
Everything absolutely excellent, reasonably priced and very nice bar food.
lovely situation beside the canal.Good restaurant, nice place no
Excellent value for money, lovely room, and very helpful and friendly staff
The restaurant was first class
Comfortable room, well equipped, friendly staff. Very good value for money. Meal very good but too much and took too long. Service a little amateurish.
the staff were very friendly and the hotel was very easy to find.
Convenience of location Accommodation very tired, needs a good freshening up; breakfast not starting till 7.30 is late for business clients with 8am starts elsewhere; expensive when breakfast not included given the standard of the accommodation.
We had a meal int he evening of our arrival in the restaurant next door which was good. Breakfast the next morning unfortunately was not any good at all. We waited 40 minutes for our breakfast which was not cooked properly one of our group had raw eggs on their breakfast. Definately would not return to this hotel in future. Staff not pleasant at all. 5 staff in the morning were sitting around while 1 girl ran around like a headless chicken.
it was worth the money and the bar/restaurant was good
Good location, Big room, Good service from stuff Coffe Corner not clean enough
The spacious room
Clean room nice comfitable bed Its getting ready for a bit of redecoration and no remote for the telly.
Good basic hotel.
Spacious room with all you needed. The breakfast was very good except for the lack of marmalade and the a.m. service was helpful and friendly.. No staff on reception on arrival. When we found someone from the bar he was not very informative. Temperature was hot in some areas, cool in others.
Waiting nearly 1 hour to book in
Easy access No tea bags found for a cuppa!!
The hotel was comfortable and good value for money
friendly staff room service was basic
Friendly efficient staff, clean comfortable room, well-heated. Excellent breakfast with good choice of continental and English ingredients.
Quiet, good mannered staff and prompt service with excellent breakfast of traditional Staffordshire oatcakes, a real winner.
Good location close to M6. Very quiet No
swimming pool ,restaurant, quick response to requests. fair amount of noise late at night due to wedding guests
Food was very good. My room (207) was a little noisy and the bed was very firm.
Friendly staff and cleanliness of the hotel. Lovely breakfast. Poor selection of food in the Oyster Bar especially for the price.
Staff friendly and very helpful, room clean and comfortable, breakfast very average.
