The B&B Is spot on excellent clean rooms with excellent service.
Rooms were clean and modern and the breakfast was good No hot water at 6.00 in the evening. No access to the hotel when we arrived on Saturday afternoon (having been told that the earliest check in was 2.00 we were surprised to find a note on the door at 3.00 saying " back in one hour"). We found somewhere to have a hot drink at the nearby national park but had quite a lot of time to kill which was not ideal after a long journey.
Very clean bedroom & bathroom, in fact pristine. Good sized bedroom and en-suite, well laid out. Very neutral, tasteful decor. Very comfortable bed. Excellent parking facilities. Beautiful rural location. Excellent breakfast. There was nothing I disliked about the guest house. I selected the guest house for the location. I would have preferred a hotel with lunch & dinner on the premises.
Very well looked after thank you - really good breakfasts!
breakfast was brilliant could n't get telly to work on 2nd night.
informal and friendly atmosphere nothing
Friendliness of staff
Helpful friendly staff. Good breakfast. Not having a restaurant means having to go elswhere to eat evening meals, as a business customer that's a bit of a nuisance.
Good service of staff None
A lovely clean room with a very comfortable bed, and powerful shower. Plenty of space provided in the room. None
Staff served meals quickly and efficiently Lighting in bedrooms. Side lamps and over head lamps not powerful enough. Green is good but there are more effective brands of bulbs. Difficult to work in low light levels
Facilities were clean and functional. Room and bed were comfortable. Quiet and restful. Breakfast was excellent. Apart from evening meal and tv, nothing to do.
i went for mrcp exam and spent three nighs, comfotable and staff very helpfull, it was more a less nice stay.
Offer of cot for baby although not reserved ammendment no problem offer of help as arrived alone with baby and many bags Hair on the floor of the bathroom
Price, cleanliness, comfort Aircon switches itself on in the middle of the night once you've switched it off. Restaurant forgot our order in the evening and the breakfast was not as good as other Premier Inns
Conveniance plus excellent restaurant. Very comfortable bed & friendly staff n/a
Clean, well facilitated room for three including a child. Good price and value for money in hotel and eateries.
Error with reservation (see below) quickly resolved. Good food. We are regular users of hotels and found this one very good. On-line reservation system wasn.t clear enough to allow booking of a room for 2 adults and a young child.
the carpit was a little worn
The breakfast was great! The bed was not very comfortable and the shower not very powerful.
The view from our bedroom window was lovely and our sheets were clean. The room was warm and we had an excellent breakfast. The rooms were very faded in decor and standard. For example our room had a pole above the window for a set of curtains but these were not to be found. The paint was peeling and there were red wine stains on the dresser which I am sure with a bit of polish could have been cleaned off. Unfortunately we could not get hot water out of our shower and when speaking with our fellow guests (we were there on a catch up with friends) they had similar problems. Depending on what you are looking for, this hotel is OK.
A Stately Home experience in a tranquil setting
The location and history of the building brought with it some lovely traditional features and the views were to die for. The bedroom we stayed in seemed to have had been recently accessorised but the one thing that should have been done was the decoration! The wallpaper is actually falling away. Paintwork is chipped. The bathroom had been recently retiled with good quality tiles but again no painting and the whole appearance was sad and tired and a major let down. The 'kerb appeal' of the hotel lead us to expect a much higher internal finish. However the public rooms were more than acceptable.
Very friendly and helpful staff
Very convenient for Business in Bridgend. Good facillities for business stop over. Have already recommended to work colleagues.
location breakfast and no bath in room
The hotel is based in a magnificant former manor house and forms the basis for a most relaxing break away from turmoil of every day life which is situated only a few miles away.
Staff verry helpfull with good local knowledge located right on the mb trails the food was lovely Slow internet no shampoo
Staff were great from moment of arrival to departure, nothing was a problem to them
Mountain Bikers well catered for with secure lock-up.
Afan lodge is a very modern hotel excellently placed for mountainbiking with friendly helpfull staff and acosy atmosphere. Top marks>
Friendly owner, clean comfortable rooms, suitability for mountain biking, climate control in rooms, quality of furnishings and fittings No wi-fi in rooms as advertised, no thermostatic mixer for shower
Excellent food, staff and facilities Bed not very comfortable
Quiet, warm & comfortable room with excellent shower/bath. Great outlook. Main feature - open fire, was not lit once during our 3 day stay - disappointing. Evening meal was mediocre.
Excllent setup, ideal for mtb in the area. Staff were very helpful in all aspects, particularly with guidance on trails in the area. No bad points to speak off.
Service, support for mountain bikers
Very homely and comfortable. None
I would say that the bed mattresses would have to be changed they are quiet bad to be honest. It would have been perfect to have propper loggs for the fire.
Very pleasant owners. Excellent views over the valley. Good parking off road outside the cottage. Good walks for dog owners and walkers alike. Sat Nav says you have arrived half way up hill when the accommodation is at the top. The actual signs for the cottages are very small and could easy be missed.
Lovely environment. Returned for the fourth time now. The cottage (Glas) represents excellent value for money and is nice and cosy. We always enjoy lighting the log fire burner. There are walks in the local area where we exercised the dog. Richard is a lovely bloke and will go out of his way to make you feel welcome. Shower and kitchen tap were a little erratic but worked fine after leaving them on for a bit.
Excellent accomodation, vith absolutely beautiful views.
The cottage was lovely. The under floor heating was excellent and the I really liked the decor. We normally eat out every evening but we just wanted to stay in and enjoy the cosy cottage. Location was great if you enjoy rural surroundings with the added bonus of a Tesco and Asda just a 10 mins drive way. The cottage could do with a clean lots of cobwebs.
Very warm and remote None
The owners of the cottage are excellent. Very welcoming, friendly, helpful, wonderful people. Area is quiet, green, relaxed, the house is so cozy, interior is just more than you expecting from the pictures. I enjoyed every minute of my stay and definitely would pick the same place when i go there next time.
The shower in the bathroom was very good Room was extrememly cold on arrival. Bed uncomfortable, rolled together when sleeping. Needed extra bedding and pillows. Luckily they were available in the room. Disappointed that you could not drink the water from the bathroom sink. Had to purchase water to make a hot drink. Remote did not work due to no batteries in it. But receptionist gladly provided some once we mentioned what had happened.
Helpfull staff, Generaly good level of cleanliness. Lack of car park security. Lights not working, no cameras. Car next to ours was broken into. (not the first according to police.)
it was comfortable,the room was kept clean and the shower good;the bed was comfortable;
the bed was extremely uncomfortable, very saggy.
Room clean and comfortable, Pub within walking distance for evening meal.
convenient, clean and comfortable no where to eat breakfast except room. Found the directions to hotel unclear - thout it better to state in text actually in services - we are not used to staying in these hotels and went around the place first as it says hotel in Bridgend
Very friendly staff and good sized room for price more milk cartons in room
The bed was large and clean The room had a bad smell, the receptionist who was a gentleman from South Africa was very rude to my cousin she was the one who stayed there and I was the one who paid.
Was an okay hotel
Location of hotel, close to motorway The shower in one of our rooms didn't work, the the cleanliness of the carpet left alot to be desired.
Lovely grounds and atmosphere at hotel
Beautiful location, friendly staff, a comfortable room tastefully decorated and good communal areas. The breakfast was good too. We had a lovely stay but just before we left I used the ladies toilet by the main reception. Two of the three tiolet appeared not to be in use and the remaining one was not clean. I reported this to the staff.
Lovely quiet location, with nice views. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms comfortable. Food excellent and plentiful. No bad points. Only thing I missed was not having a clock (that could be read in the dark) in the room.
enjoyed my stay like the hotel
Excellent hotel, great food, good location for shopping and the peace and quite of the countryside.
Food was excerlent None
Very pleasant hotel and very helpful staff
the staff were lovely the site was beautiful, the food was wonderful. The breakfasts were the best I have ever had in terms of freshness and taste. showers are not quite up to standard - the mixers were a bit faulty and they
Beautiful surroundings, friendly staff. Bar prices were a bit steep.
the professionalism and efficiency of the satff combined with real friendliness, all staff encountered seemed to like what they were doing. I liked the setting, even though the weather was bad! I will book to stay there for longer next time. nothing to dislike
Close proximity to centre of town. Poor service from the hotel staff.
handy for town and country side
good room rate. The room was vey hot and we stayed on a saturday night and it was extremly loud and noise outside due to the hotels location but this cant be helped.
Welcoming, warm and friendly. Breakfast was a bit bland as are many hotels these days.
Cenral location A bit dated
It was very central for the trains and buses. The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful. nothing
Size of the room/quality of the bed Old fashioned and a bit of refurbishment would be nice (there were holes on the bottom sheet.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel . Our room was huge and also had a sitting / TV area. It was spotlessly clean, well decorated and comfortable.breakfast was very good and so was our Saturday evening meal. They do a curry night on Friday and Saturday - excellent value , choice and taste. It was all washed down with the House red wine which was very good . Nothing amiss.
The location, food, and willingness of all to help. Only thing was the parking and daily charges for parking.
Staff very friendly Bedroom and particularly the bathroom needed some TLC
Good location No paring at the hotel. But public parking just in next street
room was clean and confortable, the welshcakes were a lovely touch
The room was exceptional food was excellent and all staff very polite and i will definately return some noise outside at throwing out time
Well located in central Pontypridd. The quality of the rooms was excellent - of that generally found in high standard hotels. The duty manager was exceptionally hard working and very caring towards her customers. The only negative was the disturbance that the late night clubbers managed to create outside the hotel at 3 am on Sunday. If your room overlooked Market Street then your night would have been very difficult. The club is in the basement of the hotel, thus the hotel must make a decision - hotel or club?
Great hotel good staff and facilities, spoilt by late night disco which went on until almost 3am
The hotels design.. loved it. The room was amazing, in fact I have now decided to change my own bedroom. Cold plates at present, not good. Hot food should always be on hot plates.
Clean, comfortable, friendly service, good quality facilities, free wifi and top of the range tv. Room too hot, at least for me, and I was not able to shut off or turn down the heating. Tv so hi-tech that the controls were invisible and after managing to turn it off I had a problem getting it running again.
Excellent friendly staff and service. Tv complicated-ish to work. Could not find a thermostat for room temperature.
Room was very nice with an excellent spacious bed Parking facilities poor
Convenience for shopping and the Harvester next door is an added bonus
Staff were extremely helpful and the rooms were very nice the food was also very good, would definately use again.
The staff was courteous, the breakfast was good. The room was clean, warm & the lighting good over the mirrors. The bed was comfortable. There is a good night guarantee, and a single woman travelling alone policy-single women are not placed on the main floor. Wifi is available for a cost and there is only a shower. The hotel was expensive for the area, a much cheaper price was available than what I paid. There was no luggage rack in the room. My main concern was that there was no phone in the room, on questioning staff, they told me that they do not put phones in because everyone has a mobile. I was an overseas traveller and did not have a mobile, my family was unable to contact me and I was concerned as a solo female in a room that I would not be able to contact reception if I required assistance. For this reason alone I would not stay at this hotel again, however the hotel is good in other ways. Another thing, I transferred to the Premier Inn down the road in Pencoed and they had a different wi fi provider.
Excellent helpful staff
Clean, helpful staff Bed too soft, was like sleeping on a water bed, I had to get up at 2.30am and sleep in one of the child beds
The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Bed was comfy and the staff very helpful especially at 6.30am when we were having breakfast
I liked the fact that is was very quiet once in the rooms. Clean and comfortable. I enjoyed everything. I tried to find a Premier in Swansea on the Internet but did not see one and then, when I traveled through Swansea I noticed signs for one. I wished I could have stayed at a Premier Inn there too.
The standard of service which was first class. Staff top line and so helpful and chearful. Price of the breakfast
Clean, nice staff , good breakfasts, family friendly, Entertainment/shopping centre within walking distance. Easily accessible and central to visit Swansea or Cardiff. Little bit of early morning traffic noise but not too bad - Sunday or public holiday ok. (expected due to location)
good location easy access from motorway none
Friendly staff and the room was excellent!
The whole atmosphere, nice staff, lovely food, large rooms There was a wedding on the Saturday night we were not informed about this and it was slightly noisy
Clean, spacious and welcoming. Good food and plenty of parking. Only source of hot water at night time was from the shower for some reason. Sink and bath were running cold. All lights fused in the room on one occasion. Squeaky floorboards weren't a problem during the day, but when lots of people decide to trample down the corridor at about 2 in the morning it's another matter!
Friendly reception on arrival.
The staff were very friendly, the bar and restaurant were comfortable and really good. The Carvery was very good
Very friendly, efficient and helpful staff. A spacious, comfortable and warm room. Very good value food and drink. The displays of photographs of the area in the past; these add to the character and ambience of the hotel.
Finding the place was a little unusual, up on a hill within a relativily new housing estate. However all my doubts were soon washed away, the staff definatley are amazing, pleasant people, nothing to much trouble, really nice and caring people, a real homely hotel. the bedrooms are clean tidy and acceptable. The evening carvery was real home food style, for a tuesday there was well over 60 guests and at the weekend I am informed it can be 300 a day, thats how good the reputation is..with quality and great value.. would stay again and recommend this hotel, a little unusual from your normal hotel chain but on a good side. Thankyou Bessemer. hope to see you again in the future. The walls are abit thin with the odd floorbood squeek, but nothing major.
Friendly & Effecient None
Freindliness of the staff, and great atmopshere in the bar. The loud music from the club below our room until midnight.
Rooms clean, staff friendly and helpful, and food great.what more do you want I will stay there again.
Basic but nice hotel. Friendly staff and nice food.
We chose this hotel as a pet friendly policy is in place. No extra charge for pets either! a real bonus. Friendly staff and a full Welsh breakfast to start the day.
Staff were brilliant nothing was too much trouble, even allowed us to check in early so we could get to the rugby on time! Nothing
a very pleasant stay, staff were very friendly and helpful, would stay again.
comfortable room Room too hot.
The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful - they were excellent. Having stayed in hotels throughout the world, the staff here were the best! If service is valued above the condition of the hotel, it is recommended. The hotel is shabby, tired and well past its sell by date. The entrance had been damaged by storm or high vehicle contact, the rooms needed complete restoration, the lift is on its last legs - come on, Best Western, provide the staff with the hotel they deserve. If service is valued above the condition of the hotel, it is recommended.
Staff, room and facilities were good. The heating made clanking and dripping noises when it came on.
The food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. Great service. Poor TV picture in room
wifi good/ check in/check out quick. Relaxing place to unwind after a day on the road Restaurant service very slow but good quality food.
just relax and had a walk on the beach
Very friendly staff
Freindly staff Menu was a bit limited, would have been nice for a lower fat option
Lovely spacious room. Quiet setting with lovely views. Bar food was of good quality and good value. We were hoping to eat in the restaurant, but this was not available due to wedding receptions on two evenings. The bar is small and not particularly comfortable.
We found this hotel quite by accident, and are glad that we did. The staff were wonderful; very friendly and welcoming, without being intrusive. The food was very good, a varied range of dishes, complemented by a decent wine list at reasonable prices. The surrounding environment and countryside were quite delightful. It is a pity that neither of us plays golf, because we were unable to take advantage of the lovely golf courses. We shall definitely return and also recommend it to our friends.
It was very quaint and the food was exceptional and very reasonable
food and location was excellent
Nice countryside location close to M4. Nice Golf facilities. Food was pretty good and fair value.
The standard of catering was excellent. The use of the free access to the internet was a great asset. We had a very pleasant weekend visit. No.
The friendly atmosphere, luxury of the room, excellent breakfast and the peaceful setting.
The cleanliness of the rooms - especially bed linen and towels smelt and felt as if it has been used by someone else.
Very comfortable, clean room of good size. Had a feeling of luxury about it, yet was a standard room. Is ideally istuated in the town centre and very good value. Was a good £10 cheaper than the Express Holiday Inn nearby, and also included continental breakfast. Despite my asking about it, the member of staff on duty at reception seemed reluctant to let me park in the secure underground car park, instead suggesting I parked in the small open car park immediately adjacent. (I was a late arrival at night.) With two other cars already in this very small car park it was difficult to manoeuvre into the only space available.
When I booked online with my debt card I assumed I had payed. But when checking out I was charged, and told that the online booking does not take payment. This has been the first time I have encountered this and it is confussiing when treying to budget.
Limited parking space
Decor of hotel, helpful and friendly staff, room size and facilities, comfort, bathroom, restaurant - very good breakfast, location. Parking not sufficient for guests and it wasn't clear where we could park nearby. If they can't improve guest parking, they just need to give a map of where to find the nearest car park.
Very chic decor Better lighting over desk
Everything about our stay from start to finish was absolutely superb. We will definitely be returning. Only issue is the parking. However this was quickly resolved by staff moving their own vehicles.
lovely friendly welsh staff. Very nice room.Handy for Swansea
The room and entire hotel was very good. The restaurant was very well designed. The free continental breakfast looked to be little more than bird seed and water. The charge for a cooked breakfast was ten pounds. Therefore, I did not bother with the continental breakfast, and paid four pounds for a cooked breakfast in the local cafe, two minutes walk away.
The Executive room was very comfortable, the restaurant nicely decorated and clean, breakfast was nice and there was no waiting. there was nothing to dislike,
The room the price the cleanliness . . Staff pleasant and helpful No wi fi in room
Close to Merthyr town centre and parking on sire. It was dated and dingy. The only hotel where I had to make my own bed. They couldn't be bothered to get gluten free bread for breakfast. There was blood on the bedroom door handle. The walls were paper thin It was overpriced and poor. Go somewhere else.
The very friendly staff, the breakfast (best selection I have seen outside of some luxury hotels), the general ambience, the peace and tranquillity. I was only there for one night so was unfortunately unable to explore the lovely garden and beautiful countryside around the hotel. I was rather dismayed to find nobody on duty at the hotel on my arrival, and there was already a group of about five people waiting to register. A phone call soon brought a member of staff, but I'm not sure what we could have done without a mobile phone, and anyway they don't all work everywhere. I had booked a single ground floor room, but it was occupied and I was given a first floor double room. There was no additional charge and the stairs were manageable, so no real problem there.
The quality and furnishing of the accommodation was very superior. We were made very welcome by all the staff. The continental breaksfast was the best we've ever had. Nothing.
We stayed in one of the self contained cottages. It was very warm and comfortable with plenty of space downstairs for family games or watching tv. Views were wonderful and it was very convenient for lovely countryside.Inclusion of breakfast was a lovely bonus
Very clean hotel/rooms. very friendly staff fantastic service and a great comprehensive breakfast. None
Friendly atmosphere. excellent accomodation.
Great value for money for the six person cottage, excellent breakfast, and truly lovely staff. We couldn't get breakfast on the Saturday morning as it wasn't served until 8am and we needed to be out for the day earlier than that.
Was made very welcome, an excellent location and very friendly service. The accomodation was of a very high standard.
the surrounding area, clean rooms, good selection for breakfast noisy room, you can hear the breakfast room
Absolutely superb place to stay. Pristine cleanliness. Food - scrumptious. The staff were wonderful - very friendly and helpful.
Very lovely, big house. Very friendly staff. Nice breakfast.
