You can enjoy world-class shopping, great outdoor spaces, the famous Bletchley Park and so much more at this Buckinghamshire destination. With lots of university friends calling MK home, I’ve paid plenty of visits to the city. I’ve explored everything from the tourist hotspots to the hidden gems. If you scratch beneath the surface, there’s so much to see and do here, with a great food scene, a diverse culture and an incredible natural environment. I’ve also spent more than my fair share of nights staying in some of the best hotels in Milton Keynes. From the cheap and cheerful to the downright luxurious, I’ve learned a lot about the city from my long weekends there. Check out my recommendations for the best hotels to stay in Milton Keynes.

Standing 14 stories tall and boasting more than 260 bedrooms, Hotel La Tour is the pinnacle of luxury hotels in Milton Keynes. If you want to experience Hotel La Tour at its best, I recommend booking a Skyview Luxury Suite.

The hotel stands proud at one end of Centre:MK shopping centre, located in the heart of the city. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a spot of shopping when the weather’s bad. On brighter days, step outside and into Campbell Park, which features a range of art projects and the famous Light Pyramid.

Book dinner at Fourteen Sky Bar and Restaurant, the hotel’s in-house restaurant on the fourteenth floor. There you can enjoy a range of premium dishes – the Burgundy braised lamb shoulder shepherd’s pie gets my vote every time. This is hands down one of the best hotels in Milton Keynes for fine dining.

With more than 210 rooms in the heart of the city, Moxy is not only one of the largest, but also one of the top-rated hotels in Milton Keynes.

As a part of the Marriott group, you can expect all the bells and whistles the brand is known for. A boutique hotel at its heart, Moxy is one of the best hotels in Milton Keynes for an independent feel. Enjoy a free drink on arrival, the cool, comfy seating of the social spaces and a 42-inch ChromeCast TV in every room.

You’ll find a coffee shop by day, cocktail bar by night at the in-house Moxy Bar. It’s a great place for a morning flat white, to grab nibbles in the afternoon or a cocktail in the evening. If you just fancy a snack, stop at the 24/7 snack and beverage station and enjoy popcorn, crisps, chocolates, sweets and fizzy drinks.

A 15-minute drive from MK’s centre, The Woburn Hotel is a charming 18th-century property. Stay in one of the 48 rooms in the main hotel or one of the seven cottages in the courtyard.

One of the best hotels in Milton Keynes, I highly recommend booking a meal in the Mediterranean-inspired open kitchen, where you can watch the skilful chefs prepare a range of delicious dishes from breakfast to dinner service. The porchetta is a personal highlight and, for each portion sold, 25p is donated to a local charity. Make sure to save space for the bombolone – mini Italian doughnuts topped with chocolate sauce.

After dinner, stop for a drink in the Tavistock Bar. They serve a range of real ales and fine wines, alongside wonderful cocktails and premium spirits. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a long day in the city.

Located on the eastern banks of Willen Lake sits the Holiday Inn Express. It’s the perfect place to stay with children and dogs if your four-legged friends fancy a mini-break too.

MK is full of great outdoor spaces and Willen Lake is one of the finest. Hire a boat for a better view of the park, visit the miniature railway or tackle the Treetop Extreme obstacle course. Walk the short route back to the hotel for a well-earned pizza at the in-house restaurant.

If you’re in the mood for something different, check out the extensive menu at the Harvester, just a 30-second walk from the hotel. The chain restaurant is great for families and caters to all palettes. Enjoy steaks, rotisserie chicken, chargrilled skewers and so much more for reasonable prices.

Built into Stadium MK, the home of Milton Keynes Dons Football Club, the DoubleTree by Hilton is one of the best hotels in Milton Keynes for sports fans. Boasting more than 300 rooms and 17 event spaces, the hotel offers ample space for away football matches, conferences and live music gigs.

Whether you’re supporting your local team, cheering an international rugby match or singing along to a live concert, the DoubleTree is the place to stay. The Pitchside Restaurant is unbeatable for a bite to eat during game time, but the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, Bar & Grill takes dining to another level. Book for a post-match meal to remember.

A 15-minute drive from the centre of Milton Keynes, the Kingfisher Hotel, Golf and Country Club couldn’t feel further away from the city’s hustle and bustle. Nestled within 160 acres of peaceful countryside, it offers a truly tranquil escape.

One of the top fancy hotels in Milton Keynes, the Kingfisher Hotel has 29 well-equipped rooms. Hotel residents can enjoy amenities including a state-of-the-art GolfX TopTracer Driving Range, KFitt fitness centre, sauna and steam room.

Away from the centre, the Kingfisher is one of the best hotels in Milton Keynes for access to Silverstone. For the summer Formula 1 weekend, it’s hard to imagine a better place to kick back and relax following the high-octane afternoon. I’d recommend booking in for Sunday lunch (served until 6 pm) for a post-race refuel in the hotel’s restaurant.

Fully restored in 2016, The George Inn is a hotel and gastropub less than a 30-minute drive from the city centre. Here you can stay in one of the cosy ensuite rooms, all set in the shadow of the impressive St. Mary the Virgin Maulden Church.

The food and drink are the real selling points at The George – this is a haven for foodies and lovers of classic pub grub. Enjoy a proper steak and ale pie, panko breaded chicken schnitzel or pan-fried sea bream washed down with real ale or fine wine.

If you’re lucky to stay for Sunday afternoon, treat yourself to a traditional roast. Chicken, beef, lamb and nut roast options are available. Make sure to save room for the George cheese plate, which includes Cheddar, Brie, and Stilton. It’s an excellent addition to the menu and the perfect way to end any meal.

An affordable hotel in the city centre, Leonardo Hotel Milton Keynes is a great choice for those looking to explore the local shops. Stay in one of 279 rooms, each furnished to a pleasingly high standard.

Explore central Milton Keynes and Centre:MK for one of the largest shopping centres in the UK, just a short walk from the hotel. Alternatively, check out Xscape Milton Keynes for snow sports, indoor skydiving and an escape room.

The hotel itself is a part of “The Hub”, a purpose-built square packed full of great places to eat and drink. Pick up coffee a Bogota Coffee, dinner at Mayaa and finish your day with a cocktail at Turtle Bay (mine’s a Rum Runner).

Found on the fringes of Ouzel Valley Park, Woughton House Hotel combines the city centre's convenience with the calm of the countryside. Choose from a range of rooms, starting with the Classic Single and progressing to the Junior Suite, perfect for a special of stay.

Spread across 95 acres of parkland, Woughton House offers a true 4-star experience. It’s one of the best hotels in Milton Keynes for a relaxed, tranquil stay. Spend your day enjoying all the hotel has to offer – I recommend stopping for afternoon tea, which comes complete with cocktail teapots for an “intoxicating” experience.

Bicester Village is a short 30-minute drive from the property. Enjoy the outlet's top shops, including Barbour, Prada, Vivienne Westwood, Fendi, Christian Louboutin and so much more.

Located right next to the Abbey Hill Golf Centre, the Mercure is one of the best hotels in Milton Keynes for golfers. Choose from a range of ensuite rooms or upgrade to the Privilege Double for the premium experience.

Stay in 4-star luxury and enjoy a fantastic breakfast before playing a full 18 before lunch. If you’re lucky, you can get in a quick afternoon feed and be back on the course for a further 9 holes. Alternatively, check out the fun at Mr Mulligan's Pirate Golf or fire some balls down the 22-bay driving range.

In the evening, enjoy a meal at the hotel’s in-house Moltens Restaurant. There’s seating inside and out, making it the perfect place to enjoy a cold beverage in summer or a proper winter warmer.
