I could clearly hear the people in the room next door: every word of their conversation which was frustrating, as well as a huge amount if noise until the early hours from the Headrow. The room was clinical ( no carpet) and the bathroom like a hospital one.
Cons: I was terribly disappointed by the hotel. Given the price:£--- for one night, I expected much better. Breakfast was extra and when the receptionist forgot to add it on to the bill, the receptionist the morning after tried to charge us more.

Cons: Wifi patchy
Standing in the shadow of York Minster, the Dean Court Hotel, BW Premier Collection® enjoys, without a doubt, the finest location of any hotel in the city (if not the country)! History and heritage lay on our doorstep, with the county capital's major attractions, boutique shops and eateries all a short walk away. Speaking of walks, the city's famous ghost tours are well worth joining, while plenty of parkland can be enjoyed on a relaxing stroll through the nearby museum gardens. York Races is of course a draw if you fancy a flutter, but the safest bet of all is our award-winning cuisine and fine wines! Leeds, Harrogate and Knaresborough are all within easy reach, but we agree with the Vikings and Romans. York is the place to be! Please note that if the room description does not state breakfast is included, then it is for only the room. Opposite York Minster. Hotel's own secure car park - few moments away - complimentary valet parking. Car park charge 18.50 GBP per day. Enjoy your stay.
The General Tarleton Inn was originally built as a coaching inn towards the end of the 18th century and was named after the butcher general who fought in the American War of Independence probably by one of the men who fought alongside him. The General Tarleton has been extensively and sympathetically renovated and extended and is now regarded as one of Yorkshire s best country inns. Owners, John and Claire Topham are closely involved with its day-to-day management and have put their own style to its design and décor. We have recently been awarded 5 guest accommodation status by the AA and Visit Britain. John s passion for food started in the kitchens at a local hotel where he worked part time at weekends from the age of 14. Having honed his skills both at home and abroad he was appointed Head Chef at The Angel Inn at Hetton, the forerunner to fine dining gastropubs and where he stayed for 18 years. When John was awarded UK Pub Chef of the Year at the pub food industry s equivalent of the Oscars the presenter said, John Topham has to be one of the most talented and skilled chefs I have ever come across in the pub food trade his in depth culinary knowledge is reflected in his innovative selection of mouth watering and visually inspiring dishes using local produce in an imaginative way. John jointly purchased The General Tarleton with The Angel Inn s owners, Denis and Juliet Watkins, and together they embarked on an ambitious renovation plan to successfully create one of the North s most exciting dining pubs. John and his wife, Claire, subsequently took over full ownership of The General Tarleton from Denis and Juliet. John and Claire s Head Chef, Stephen Carr, and Front of House Manager, Enzo Scibilia, continue the practice of offering delicious food with outstanding hospitality.
Cons: Had a problem with the elevator stopping unexpectedly between floors.
Pros: Location was great for exploring central York. We were facing the back of the hotel so no noise from the road or Bar across the road could be heard
Cons: The selection of drinks at the bar could have been a little wider.
Superb. Excellent location from rail station and also central location. Real value for money.
Pros: Everything really from the friendly staff, nice room and in particular the quality and choice for breakfast. Cannot fault it.
was surprised @ happy how organised breakfast was.
Cons: no complaints.
Breakfast very busy. The noise from other bathrooms was a significant factor and made cause for complaint but too late as we stayed one night.
Pros: Location was excellent.
Cons: Noise from other bathrooms was very obvious and did cause disturbed sleep. We also booked a room with sofa but there wasn't one provided. When we asked at Reception we were told that the third party booking agent didn't advise and book this upgrade.
Would definitely stay here again.
Pros: The room was spotlessly clean. Cleanest bathroom I have ever seen! The location was excellent to walk into the centre of York. Allowed to check in early and also to leave our bags when checking out to collect later. Very friendly staff.
This hotel was well positioned for us, just inside the city walls and across the river from most sightseeing destinations. It's not on a main road so there is little traffic noise at all. We travelled by train and it is only a short walking distance from the station. A good 15 minute walk got us into most of York's attractions, but could be a little far for anyone with mobility problems. All staff were cheery, chatty and helpful but please sort out the map photocopying problem, it was no help to us as we couldn't read it as the quality was so poor. Our room was comfortable, extremely clean, with a quirky wardrobe door which doubled as the bathroom door (when the bathroom door was closed, the wardrobe was open). There was a safe, television with good choice of channels tea and coffee and free wifi. We enjoyed breakfasts with a good choice of cold or cooked food. I can't see what more choice anyone could want apart from perhaps more fresh fruit rather than frozen. Although we didn't use the gym we had a quick look and it seemed to have the usual choice of equipment but seemed somewhat underused. I would definitely recommend the Hampton by Hilton and it would be my first choice hotel next time I visit York.
Pros: Friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The room was spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable and large - the two twins were actually two double beds. Large choice at breakfast.
Cons: Only two very small gripes - the tap on our washbasin was in slightly the wrong place so that if water was turned on gently it ran onto the marble surround. The photocopied map of York we were given was unreadable.

Pros: Good sized room
Great central location
Cons: Cost of incrementals (10GBP for a single glass of wine in the bar!)
Pros: Right next to the train station. Room was perfectly nice except for shower.
Cons: The shower was moldy...smelled moldy and looked moldy.

Nestled in the picturesque village of Calverley, this pretty 19th century inn is a slice of Yorkshire calm that s equally close to the commercial hubs of Bradford and Leeds. So whether you re planning a short break or a business trip, it makes for an ideal escape. The Caverley Arms is a fine Victorian building with 14 rooms and a cosy pub. You won t have to wander far, then, if you re in the mood for a pint of cask ale or some heart-warming, seasonally inspired food. Judging from Victorian maps, the lodge s roots date back at least to the 1850s, but its stunning views over the Aire Valley are truly timeless. The pub s garden, which occupies a beautiful spot bordered by large trees and open countryside, is the perfect place to enjoy them, especially during summer. If you re feeling more active, there s lots of great rambling nearby and plenty of attractions to keep you occupied, from Pudsey Park, medieval Calverley Hall and the stunning Kirkstall Abbey to the hustle and bustle of Leeds City Shopping Centre.

Pros: Comfortable and spacious!
Pros: The room was very spacious immaculate and comfortable. The bathroom definitely the largest and most spacious for the price paid and again immaculate all credit to the housekeeping team.
Cons: This is the first hotel I've been in that didn't offer tea/coffee facilities in the room which was quite unexpected. Disappointed couldn't have a quick reviving cuppa after a hard days shopping.
Cons: Parking is a massive issue. The hotel has a small car park. When I Ask the staff where I could park the response was not help ful. "We don't know". Took over 1 hour to find parking. The hotel reception area was dirty with people smoking outside of the front door meaning I then stunk of smoke when entering the hotel.
In all find another hotel
Cons: Overall it was good staff are very friendly
Pros: the look and location
Cons: noise and no air con
