Towards the north of Catalonia is the town of Figueres, the famous home of Salvador Dalí which features a wonderful museum dedicated to the artist. The Costa Brava is lined with miles of rocky cliffs and a combination of sandy and pebbled beaches. Some popular coastal towns include Lloret de Mar, Mataro and Tarragona. Montserrat is an unusually beautiful mountain range that cradles the spectactular Benedictine Abbey monastery at its peak. It is a popular spot amongst locals for hiking, camping and bird watching all year round.
