DISASTROUS. I failed to notice that the “daily rate” for 3 days is different than 2 days. Using a rental voucher from a discount rental site, all seemed great - good rate of $40 per day. ($216.32) UNTIL I returned the vehicle. I made an egregious error in returning the vehicle (to make it easier on family picking me up)…5 hours 41 minutes TOO early. (Midnight) In fact, if I had waited 4 hrs 41 min. to drop off the key once the office closed at 11pm in Pensacola, I would not have been subject to the criminal fine of QUADRUPLING the daily rate to $174.99 per day! Upon seeing the totals charges of $652.25 (minus my original voucher of $216.32) I spent 30 min on the phone with the rental site & later 30 min with an Avis customer service agent, They graciously 🙄 refunded 1/2 the up charge resulting in me only having to pay … nearly DOUBLE my original voucher cost,.. a TOTAL of $403.95. Quite a penalty for returning my car 5-6 hours early! My oversight? Yes. Will I do business with Avis again? No way.Reviewed 27 Mar 2026

I needed to extend the car rental for a day. Neither Avis nor Kayak would allow me to do this. Kayak said I needed to talk to Avis and Avis said to talk to Kayak. I will not be using kayak anymore. Terrible customer service from kayak. I will tell my cohorts about my experience with kayak.Reviewed 22 Mar 2026

The check in at the airport was easy, the gentleman was great. But actually getting the car was a nightmare. It took 90 minutes. There was no rhyme or reason to who was served first (a line of maybe 6-7 ahead of me). Some people had their cars pulled around others had to hunt for them. The woman at the little office spilled her drink all over her keyboard so she said she couldn’t do anything. But do say there was only one car washer, that’s why it as taking so long. While waiting three other people came up before me to get their cars. Then the driver brought a black Mercedes up to the front and backed into the waiting area JUST TO HAVE THE CAR THERE. It wasn’t even his. Waste of time and never again.Reviewed 16 Mar 2026
