I really liked everything about this place. My room was very stylish, and it came with all the usual amenities. The room was smaller, so I'm not sure if I would be happy there if I had to share the space with someone else. I don't know if all the rooms are that size, or if I just got a small room because I was by myself. For just me, it was the perfect size. The AC works well, which I've come to learn isn't a given at many "upscale" hotels. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is right in the center of everything in Berkeley, so there are plenty of restaurants, drugstores, cafes, etc. within walking distance. It is conveniently located next to the downtown Berkeley BART station. I didn't have a car, so I didn't need to deal with parking, but I imagine it's not easy or cheap. The restaurant has really good food. There is plenty of seating in the lobby/bar area to meet with people to discuss business or have a couple drinks. I just really liked it here. They focus so much on helping each customer as much as possible, that several of us stood waiting at the check in desk for a really long time while one obnoxious customer waxed poetic about all the things he wanted to do while he was in Berkeley. They need to be more conscious of calling for help when a line starts to form.
Rooms were fine. Hotel was clean. Reception and bar service awful. Card keys did not work. A/C stopped working. Small, crowded lobby. Shattuck area is not inviting.
Every staff member I encountered was smiling and went out of their way to say hello, open doors, offer to help, etc. Very impressive!
I've stayed here several times over the last few years; I had a flawless, enjoyable experience each time. This last trip they even held some rather bulky packages / equipment which had arrived a week early for work, without question. The staff is always friendly, rooms are immaculately clean, and the location (right across Allston from the Downtown Berkeley BART, a block off Berkeley's campus, and close to several good dining experiences) is excellent.
Since my son started attending Berkeley two years ago, I only stay at the Hotel Shattuck when visiting him. Thus far, I've stayed at there six times. I have NEVER been disappointed in the accommodations. Admittedly, some reviewers complain about the price. But, hey, considering the location, accommodations, staff, and amenities, I'm not going to complain.
Bar & restaurant were under renovation-- if I had known at time of booking I would have stayed somewhere else
Clean and vast room, everything working as it should.
Conveniently located in downtown Berkeley, across the street from the BART station and a couple blocks from the Cal campus. Some nice restaurants and bars nearby. Very nice accommodations and this was the quietest hotel I've ever stayed in. I never heard a single sound outside of my room. Rooms are a bit small but still very nice and comfortable.
Location. Front desk service was horrible. Room Service was worst. Terrible food. Had a hair in it. Oatmeal was lumpy Service was way off.
There for a university tour on a Thursday, had a great stay. Room was comfortable and clean (for 4 of us on two double beds). Room was much bigger than SF hotels we had been at earlier in the week. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Lobby was comfortable and the restaurant was surprisingly good. Overall, great place for a short stay.
It was pleasant and attractive, with staff who wanted to please It is very noisy. I think there should be a card in the room stating a reminder to be quiet, because construction is older and sound carrys.
A very enjoyable stay. Very cheerful and pleasant staff who were always keen to help, especially Eric and Rodolfo at the Front Desk. I will stay again. Grouting around bath need replacing (mould)
I loved the location - so close to UC Berkeley. I also loved Henry's. Ate lunch there and had after shopping drinks. Housekeeping was very noisy - starting before 8 am on the floor I stayed on.
The hotel was located in the heart of Berkeley and only 25 mins away from San Francisco by train. It looks a bit daunting from the outside but inside it is extremely clean, staff are very friendly and the bar/restaurant is good. Rooms are not massive but adequate. Would recommend for a stay in Berkely or base to explore San Francisco.
Everyone is friendly and makes you feel very welcome. I loved my room and the pub is fabulous. Great food, great atmosphere and a fun design in the room. I didn't find anything I didn't like.
Has a wow factor. Lovely decor., down to earth staff and great food. Quiet. We had a good price. The location was perfect The room was small, felt cramped. We were stunned by the local taxes and fees - $93. I might stay out if the area next time.
Everything was just fine, and it was convenient to what we wanted to do.
Location to UC Berkeley No air conditioner, very small room
Comfortable, very very friendly and helpful staff, near campus, free wifi (slowish). hairs on towel and bathroom floor...
The staff was friendly and the location was great - close to bart and uc Berkeley. Bathroom window did not open and a little bit noise in the morning.
The staff that couldn't do enough to make our 9 night stay as comfortable as possible.
Recent remodeling, with all new fixtures in the bathroom and sink area. It was very clean. The room was fairly quiet. The price was good for a hotel stay in the area. Only the typical stale hotel room smell.
clean room, near uc berkeley loud talking outside door was disturbing, wasn't sure if it was hotel staff or guests
good location, friendly staff, clean somewhat updated room, good value, I left before breakfast, 4:20AM had good coffee. Would stay again for budget stay.
Relatively close to my daughter's house. No implement to close or open the drain in the sink.
Staff was very responsive. Booking was easy. Quiet. Inexpensive. Room showed significant wear and tear. Could have been cleaner.
visit son at Berkeley
It was clean!!!! The staff obviously paid attention to cleaning - in & out!! Free wireless internet Ac controls
Unpretentious roadhouse style relaxing after a long flight Breakfast is adequate but rudimentary by English standards
The helpfulness of the staff--they were extraordinary. Your site booked me for a nonsmoking 2-queen room, but it turned out that the motel only smoking rooms left. Nevertheless, they somehow found me a small non-smoking room for the first night, and then I was able to change to a larger non-smoking room the 2nd night for a better (non-Internet) rate. They also located my robe and gown that I had left in the 1st room. The Internet connection was very weak (2 bars) in both rooms that I stayed in.
Good place for short stay. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. The breakfast area is indeed tiny but you can take your food outside (weather permitting) or your room. We only stayed one night and it was a fine place. I was surprised to be charged more than expected (no taxes were included in the booking.com price so the bill was a bit higher than expected). Also we asked for a non-smoking room and found cigarette left overs on the floor; for the rest however it was a very clean place.
Nice staff. No noise problems. Free parking. The room had a microwave, an air conditioner, a small fridge and a free wireless Internet connection (though it often went off). Emails that I sent twice to the hotel went unanswered (though after I called them the problem was solved).
Good breakfast, close to centre and transpotation.Good parking.
If you like good old-fashioned funky motels, you'll love this one. It could be anywhere in America, but it is a bargain in Berkeley. And the sushi bar which shares the parking lot is terrific.
That it was in the city of Berkeley. Filthy, run down with smelly rooms. There was an unstable patron who required an ambulance and several police cars. Blocking my car and more than probably scratching it. All this occurred late and was very disruptive to our sleep.
Good value for the money. Easy access to good restaurants and within walking distance (10-15min) from the bart. Great friendly staff. We got upgraded to a larger room (since they had the vacancy) for no extra cost, and also left our car there for the day (free parking) after checking out. Hotel is very old, and the facilities are run down. It was ok as a place to crash at for a night, but it's not a "nice" hotel by any stretch of the imagination.
The only thing I liked about my stay here was its proximity to various business: Acme Bread, 4th Street shopping No AC - just a small round fan hung up on the corner of the room, old musty carpeting with a film on it (had to go to walgreens to purchase socks to wear when in), old linens/curtains/scratchy towels, indifferent help desk.
Staff was very good. Room service excellent and the pools were great. I asked for a taxi to take me to SFO. Instead of a taxi, they had reserved a sedan which was more expensive than a taxi. I thought it was a little bit cheesy. I'm sure that some people want to drive to the airport in a fancier car but they should specify. I asked for a taxi, not a town car.
The Sunday buffet at the Meritage was very good. The lap swimming in the pools and 3 free hours of childcare included in the resort fee was also very nice and an unexpected bonus. Ridiculously overpriced for what it was. $26 resort fee and $30 valet fee on top of over $200/night for a tiny old room that wouldn't even pass muster at a Best Western? The room was awful - outdated, small, old, musty and generally uncomfortable. Noisy from the hallway, the bed was saggy, the comforter stained and 2 adults plus a baby in a crib were way too many to fit in a tiny standard room.
Nice pool, spa and exercise facilities. My kids had a blast at the pool - it was nicely heated and they enjoyed it despite the cooler February weather. Our room was below one of the hotel's restaurants. 6am on a sunday morning and isn't a great time to be woken up to the sounds of tables and chairs being moved. It's an old hotel so it's pretty loud. When I checked out they gave me a bit of a discount and said that when we checked in that the front desk should have warned us that our room was loud... they really just shouldn't rent out the rooms or if they do charge less.... but they'd rather put guests in a position where they have to complain to get a discount. Even with the discount if was an expensive weekend that wasn't as restful as you'd expect for the money.
Loved the look of the place from the outside..altho you quickly feel like an inconvenience being shuffled out of the way. The hotel is rich with history and has very nice decor..the room was big, with a big bathroom. The trexk to the room was ridiculous, having to take two elevators and very long walks on different levels while carrying your things. The room floor needed vacuumed, you could feel stuff on the carpet. After we checked in, we left to go get dinner and you can't get out of the gate without a special card given at the front desk. Well guess what- oh, and it cost $30 for this parking privilege.
Stay was great wished new more about it before we got there to enjoy the facilities Food prices were a little high
Our oasis on the hill! The Claremont is a special place and I return there whenever I can; the location is central yet private and the staff is friendly, attentive, helpful and genuine. Each staff member, from the housekeeping staff to the manager, smiles and greets guests and is not only ready, but willing, to make your stay enjoyable. When there was an issue at check-in with the room assigned. Frank Flynn quickly and apologetically gave us another room with no question. In chatting with Fracesco (I'm sure I have not spelled his name correctly-my apologies!) in the lobby, we told him we were headed into the city the next day; he not only cautioned us about traffic and crowds in the Golden Gate Park area due to a concert, he recommended alternative areas to visit-and when he saw us a couple of days later, he asked how our trip went! A special shout-out also to Mohammad and Zachary who took care of us for breakfast in the Meritage restaurant-their service standards and guest treatment should be the envy of fine dining establishments everywhere. They made the start of our days happy and pleasant and really made an impact of the pleasure of staying at the Claremont! The charm of an old beauty like the Claremont is also sometimes what makes you miss some things you might find in a newer hotel; the HVAC system can be unreliable and loud, the bathroom does not have an exhaust fan, etc. But having noted that, the graciousness of the wide hallways and high ceilings easily make you overlook those modern facility differences!
Location - close to everything including freeways. Facilities were excellent -- pool, exercise room, etc. They treated me like a second class citizen because I booked not directly through them. Promised me a fridge and I had to find a facilities guy who didn't talk to the front desk to get one. Told me there was a free breakfast buffet, but then it wasn't free.
Wonderful location. Grand old building which has been well maintained. It had been some years since I last stayed there and the place seemed in better shape than it was.
The look of the hotel The check in staff
Price was solid, room was clean, parking was free. Could hear everything going on around my room, woke up multiple times by random folks around my room. The hotel is fairly dated. The bed was not comfortable and nor were the pillows.
Great views. Hotel is dated but still clean.
Location The didn't honor the price I had on my conformation and charged me more. They claim to only get the reservation from Booking.Com and no prices.
I like how this establishment did not honor my booking they gave me a ridiculous excuse and shoved me out the door Fred the supposed manager was very unprofessional he tried to justify his BS by giving me two cookies which I almost threw at his face
Nothing Dirty, smelly, and very noisy. We did not have a good experience staying here at all.
Had an excellent time. Would definitely go back.
They had my reservation listed as 2 double beds, when I in fact reserved and paid extra for the king deluxe room with a balcony. The receptionist acted as if I did not have a king reserved, until I physically showed her my reservation on my phone. At that point she then took responsibility for putting us in a king room like we reserved and paid for. Ridiculous.
I booked and paid for a king balcony room and I didn't get that The hotel claimed that Kayak was responsible for the booking hence they couldn't accommodate my request for a king bed since they didn't have any available. I couldn't cancel the reservation neither so I feel I was robbed. I've use this site multiple times but I'm never using it again. I was robbed since the quality didn't compare to what I paid.
- staff is terrible. The staff said that the reservation with 3rd party cannot received Hilton HHonor benefit. very Sucks - Room Service is terrible as well. Try to connect a lot of time, no answer.
Location, service and clean quiet room. Restaurant charges $18.00 for breakfast buffet.
Beautiful location on Marina. Staff is friendly. Infrastructure is old. Wireless is spotty.
Excellent family pool and hot tub, comfortable beds, easy access to a walking path on the waterfront, exceptionally friendly staff There is no complimentary breakfast, not even a box of corn flakes and coffee. Breakfast buffet was very expensive, so we drove out to a grocery store for food. For the in room coffee maker three guests received three packets of coffee and 2 creams!
Ariana at the front desk was incredibly helpful, professional and very friendly. Ariana should be commended for her customer service. I booked the room via Kayak. I thought I was getting a King Bed. When I checked in the front desk gal ( who was not very helpful!!) said that the hotel was oversold because there were 2 family reunions going on and she needed to put me up in another local hotel. I didn't have time to do that, as I needed to be in SF within the 1/2 hour. She allowed me to go up to a meeting room to change clothes and said that the meeting room had a pull out sofa. So, I told her that instead of running around Emeryville to another hotel, I would just take the sofabed. Ends up there wasn't a sofa bed. She also said she would send up my bags...but she didn't do that either! Housekeeping had to come in with a blow up mattress. NOT a comfortable night's sleep. However, a gal named Ariana was now working at the front desk. She gave me free parking and 2 vouchers for some food/wine. I also called Kayak and they spoke with the hotel and my room was comp'd all together. I appreciate that greatly...but would also like to mention that if the hotel was already oversold...I shouldn't have been able to reserve a room. A lot of hassle...but between Kayak and Ariana...it was resolved to my satisfaction. Thank you!
I had a room I requested an early check-in by e-mail. I received a text saying I could check in at 2pm. Staff told me check in is at 3pm, period. Did not even check to see if rooms were available.
The View and breakfast were great Elevator was dinging all night....and yes being so close to the elevator probably didn't help, but that is something that they should be able to mute for individual floors as needed
Easy highway access and good response to requests. We had booked three rooms for a family business trip. One room had a cracked sink, two rooms had ill fitting front doors which let so much light under the door as a light was left on. One room had drapery that had holes in it.
I like the bathrooms and set up of room The kids that were unsupervised scattered through building The noisiness The front staff
Great room set up. Good desk and chair for a business traveler. Like the coffee in the lobby now as well. Sad you have done away with glassware in the room. I think of motels as having paper cups and nice hotels provide glasses. I enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day and don't like it in a paper cup. You have also dropped the level of amenities provided in the bathroom.
The bilinds were not fully functional. Minor maintenance. That's all.
Room is spacious with view and amenity look friendly. Internet connection is slow. Car parking is expensive.
The hotel was very modern and clean which is a big plus for me, especially with children. I loved that it was so close to the Bay bridge and minutes away from SF. Staff was friendly and the overall location was nice and close to the water. n/a
Easy highway access, decent size room and good response to problems. We didn't like being charges 15 a day for parking and that the common areas were unkept even in the early mornings, ie overflowing garbage cans, ashtrays and glasses left from the night before on the patio area.
Kitchen was reason we chose site. Our fridge was broken and was not repaired sufficiently for our 3 day stay. Front desk staff helpful but manager was UNRESPONSIVE to multiple phone calls.
No cooking utensils or dishes in kitchenette
the staffs are very friendly and the room is in good and clean condition. the sink is leaking!!!
The hotel was not clean. There were no luggage carts. The housecleaning staff came a day early and told Mrs. Sutti she had to be out at 4 PM ( ! ? ! ) after it was confirmed the Suttis were leaving on Oct. 1. Very poor service. We will not use this hotel again.
Staff was very friendly and efficient. The location makes it easy to get onto the Bay Bridge quickly, and decent places to eat are within an easy drive. There were well-lit places to walk our dogs. The room, while not huge, was comfortable and had been recently maintained. No water glasses in the room. One of my dogs found things under the bed that the vacuum cleaner missed, fortunately none of them dangerous. Woodwork in the bathroom could have used a little more frequent cleaning.
I wish I could pick out something positive to say...the one employee Kristina at the desk was friendly and at least the door locked so we had somewhere to put our stuff and be out of the rain. The rest of it was like a bad joke. Here is the laundry list: the location is creepy, you can see an enclave of homeless (and everything they were up to) under the tangle of overpass from an entire side of the building and we were harassed for money every time we went out. The traffice noise is awful. We were given a smoking room when non smoking was requested and necessary. The smoke detector was right over the bed and had multiple bright flashing lights over us all night and had gaps all around the mounting and appeared ready to fall out of the ceiling. The mattress was better than the floor, barely. The hotel was out of shampoo. The towels had stains and looked dingy. We got ONE partial roll of toilet paper. The shower rod had been replaced and had all the holes left unrepaired in the drywall around where it was previously mounted. The breakfast was a joke, but at least there was coffee. The staff felt mopping the entire lobby at CHECKOUT TIME so it was slick and wet was a smart idea. The staff at the desk during checkout was curt, which is the nicest thing I can say, and never asked how our stay was or if anything had been acceptable...I am not sure WHAT was wrong with the elevators, but if they'd gone any slower they'd be moving backwards...I am sorry, but this place was a joke for the money we spent.
Nice bathroom, had mini fridge and microwave, very quiet. Beds were quite small, room could be cleaner, quite expensive for what we received.
The bathroom looked recently remodeled with granite shower walls, counter, and floor tile. There was a large flat screen TV with directTV. The room had a refrigerator and microwave. The bed was comfortable. The location was good. The price was good. The room was dark and small. There is traffic noise from the street. Worst of all the room smelled sour and the air coming from the heater - AC unit was stale smelling. The continental breakfast was very basic, but I didn't expect much for the price we paid.
Good breakfast. The hotel room was a nonsmoking room, however our sheets and the room all smelled like cigarette smoke. There was a mixup about our reservations - we had been billed as a no-show the day before. It seems to have been fixed, although I haven't gotten my credit card bill yet to see if I was actually charged for the extra night.
breakfast, parking, easy to find, no sound separation between unit. can hear snoring next door and squeaking from above. took over 4 hours to get someone out to unclog the toilet and the water underneath the tub.
Ok hotel to visit the city of San Francisco. For American standaard a good continental breakfast. Hotel is according to the hotelmanagement structural not safe during a earthquak and they put that un a sign at the entrance. Would be good to mention that on the bookingsite. Very thin walls, you can hear the guest next door talking. The location doesnot look an area where you safely walk in the surrounding in the evening.
Checking out. I found the hotel room to be quite shabby.
My room and bathroom The view sucks,it's dated needs renovation badly,no exciting feeling to be there...I had jet lag and fell off to sleep and I was very hungry when I woke up and so around 12:40am I got up and went downstairs to the very old candy/vending machine. The machine didn't take any bills and it has no debit card swipe and so I went to the front counter and the person there said that it only takes coins and so I went back up 3 flights to my room and but luck I had change. So I'm looking for the soda machine and it was upstairs and it was out of everything but the diet drinks. Not happy at all....Why does it cost $3.00 for a small drink? Then I had breakfast Saturday morning and I was just too through when I had just swallowed powdered eggs.I paid $170.00 a night and you mean to tell me that they can not afford real eggs? Then I get a cup of what I thought was apple juice and it was so nasty! And then I got a cup of orange juice and that was gross too!!! They only added about 5percent of juice and the rest was water... I mean REALLY???? Never again...
I had an event to attend in Berkeley and the hotel was convenient, affordable, and comfortable. I will visit again on my next trip. Everything was fine.
Lobby bar. Walking distance from amtrak station Phone battery was dead. Exhaust fan in Bathroom didn't work.
Spider crawled down from the ceiling whiel working on own laptop. Ice machine did not work on the floor.
great staff every one was so helpful and friendly
Had everything we were looking for: pool, rec equipment, restaurant, internet, comfortable rooms with fridge, microwave, and safe. Even had a patio. The staff made every effort to make us feel welcome: said hello and asked if we needed anything each time we passed by. They accommodated every need expressed. The staff wore costumes on Halloween, which is nice for a traveler that can't be home that day. We'd stay there again. For those with allergies, they use down in their bedding but will fit your bed with an alternative if you ask. Selected "Okay" on Comfort because there was an odd cloying damp smell in the hallways throughout our stay that could be overwhelming at times. They were remodeling rooms, so might have been materials associated with new carpet or paint. Some of the fixtures didn't work correctly and the dresser had baskets instead of drawers. The cable system is from the '00s with limited selection and profers conservative outlets; no PBS, no AMC, HGTV, Comedy Central or other channels common to hotels, but has HBO. The internet is open. No password or room specific login required. We were able to access at a nearby restaurant so take care when using.
Clean rooms, good location, free parking. Windows were not sealed well, thus there were some noise from outside.
Great location! Easy free parking. Staff was nice. It should be half the price for what you get. There was water leaking from the ceiling. The carpet is gross. Terrible smells. There was a man in the parking lot who appeared to be selling drugs, as evidenced by the stream of visitors he received over night. There is no fridge or microwave as advertised (none available when requested). Only one working elevator.
Not much TV did not work, no hot water in sink, changed rooms and tv still didn't work, yucky smell.
Location happened to be right for me. They charged more for delux double which was a little bigger but the hotel itself not good enough to charge more for that extra. Booking was no problem Overall it was ok and staff were kind. The price was a little high. May be prices all high in that area. They asked me credit card for in case of room service. I dont know that $50 was actually charged and redunded back.
Location - close to Berkeley 1. Heater didn't work. Got cold in the night. 2. It's a ghetto run-down building, branded as a Sheraton. I fell for the name. 3. Next to busy highway and streets. Woke up several times in the middle of the night to the sounds of fire trucks and cars and trucks.
Convenient, economical - friendly staff. Just what I needed for my stay in Berkeley. Location is very good. It is easy to get to by car and within easy walking distance of the Berkeley campus and other locations, including BART.
free parking leaky toilet, and broken vanity needed repair. wall is thin and can hear people talking next door and from level below. tv remote is low on battery and can change volume or turn on or off the tv. Room is dark and does not have enough sun light.
Would give negative stars. Dirty. Cum stained sheets. Smelled like mold and mildew. The guy working the desk the entire time was awful, offensive. Was like pulling teeth trying to get him to provide clean sheets. Awful. Don't recommend to anyone besides whores and crackheads.
Bed was comfortable Too noisy in the morning
The first room tey gave us did not have a bathtub, which I really wanted. I called the desk and they upgraded us to a bigger room, with a tub, by sending someone up to our current room with a key for the upgrade. no
Nice staff, good room service menu & not that expensive for food. The bathroom was so small!
location, recent improvements to the hotel
Central location close to Jack London Square, hotel was of a high enough standard with nice pool. Near Amtrak station plus walkable or short taxi/bus from BART.Great vegetarian restaurant across road called Souley Vegan which does a fantastic barbecue tofu plus a bar next door to this with a seriously extensive selection of world brews, not sure of name but may just be called Beer. Only stayed one night but an enjoyable stay nonetheless. I would definitely go back to Oakland and this hotel plus would consider staying here for San Francisco if I could not get a reasonable hotel deal in Frisco in future visits, especially as only a short bart journey to Embarcadero in Frisco. None to report
We asked for ice and got it right away. The bed was comfortable. The walls and floors were so poorly sound insulated that we felt we were living WITH the people next door. We heard every word, every TV program, and every time they flushed their toilet or showered. Luckily, most people were quiet after 10:30 PM. Lastly, for the price we would have expected rooms to be upgraded instead of plastic showers and routine accommodations. Maybe if we had a quieter room, the other elements would not be so troublesome. However, we didn't.
Breakfast was good with decent variety of foods. The week day front desk staff not helpful or friendly.
Convenient to San Francisco and the East Bay. Nice view of The City and The Bay. Good comp breakfast changes every day.
Overall good experience Parking limited
Staff was great took care of us and where on point which all the little details Needed more shampoo and conditioner!!...fit under my boob
I loved the room and the space in the room. When I walked through the hallway it smelled so good....awesome experience!
Not safe !!! Had to park down 2 blocks in parking garage !!! No hotel parking like listing said !!! No deals like we were PROMISED FROM KYACK !!! You could tell our ROOM WASNT CLEAN...THERE WERE USED TOWELS EVERYWHERE AND WHEN WE CALLED TO COMPLAIN ALL THEY SAID WAS HUH THATS STRANGE !!!! Lame not worth it if your looking to go to a show and dont want to worry about your stuff...THEN DONT STAY HERE !!!! I work at hotels and this was by far one of our worst experince !!!
I like the fact that the hotel was closed to everything that we needed from restaurants, bars and drugstores. The hotel staff were very friendly from the valet attendant to the front desk. Our flight got delayed and they were able to accommodate our check-in time. We understand that parking is an issued around the city but we thought it was expensive for the hotel to charge $45 for valet parking and there are a lot of homeless people walking around. I wouldn't walk around the city by yourself at night.
Es war sauber. Der Preis war unverschämt. Die Lage so lala und eher laut. Parken und Frühstück teuer.
The valet parking service was too expensive and too slow.
Simple and cleaning no
First, I found that staying in Alameda as opposed to San Francisco, our destination, was not a bad idea at all. Parking is available and included. The room was spacious and clean. Continental breakfast was excellent; it included everything you would expect in a decent hotel. The mattresses were too soft for me, but the pillows were nice.
Clean and people were very nice there. The decor in the room was wonderful. Bathroom had a stool for ladies like me to put on their makeup. Full breakfast was the best of all. If we want to stay overnite again we would be staying there. No complaints at all!!
Convenient to a Chinese restaurant (east ocean - 1 block away) where we were guests for a birthday banquet. Easy to find through the Webster Street tunnel to Alameda. Cold drinks machine on every floor. Breakfast room could not accomodate all the guests wanting food at the same time. Encourage guests to take beakfast trays to their rooms.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a minor issue with the room which they attempted to resolve immediately. It was also nice to have a decent size room with a separate sitting and sleeping area after having been in a room for about the same price across the bay that was a third the size. It was also 2 blocks from the Fireside which is a bar that one of my friends opened. That was the only reason I was staying in Alameda at all ;-) The pancakes were pretty lousy (Sam liked the waffles though). The air conditioning would not shut off in the room and we had to have someone come and fix it. They were super helpful though and offered us another room.
Great place to stay breakfast bar quick and easy
Very clean facilities, quiet location.
Excellent buffet breakfast, helpfulness of staff
The staff was very welcoming and helpful. the room was spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable to work in. I did not like it that the taxi driver who the hotel called in, did not have a meter and asked a higher price for the ride to the airport than the meter would show.
The comfort of the room. The room next door sounded like the people were in our room, when they were talking. The talking woke us up at 6:00 am.
I appreciated the buffet breakfast, morning paper, fitness center and suite design of the room which allowed me to have a separate area for my laptop. It was also convenient to public transportation and close to two good restaurants and a drugstore. Moderate street noise (mainly from sirens), but not a huge problem.
