1.9 Horrible19 Sep 2021
Very disappointed with hidden fees. They lied about some UK law that requires insurance when we already had it through the credit card company. The car was rented to us with 3 miles in the gas tank and unwashed. Very shady company to do business with.

The car worked and was cheap.Drop off and pick up was incredibly slow, the shuttle runs like once an hour and the staff is in no hurry either. Literally took me 90 min to pick up and drop off, and there were no lines to wait in. If it weren't for the incredibly cheap rates, there's no way this place would be in business. The service was really lacking, the rental office looks like an old shed, and the staff is dishonest, trying to charge you for "damage" to the vehicle that clearly was there when you picked up the car. Definitely not worth the hassle to save a few bucks.

Very helpful and friendly staff in both Edinburgh and GlasgowDid not fully understand the daily limit on mileage allowance, which resulted in a small surcharge at the end - did not impact on my overall positive experience

Hidden chargesThis is a bait and switch operation that hits you with a laundry list of hidden charges once you arrive. My final price was twice the quoted price. I could have rented in airport from a top shelf company for the same price in the end. This is a scam. Run away

We did not get the type of car we orderedNot muchThe location--(non)ease of getting to rental site; the attitude of the clerk; the unavailability of the type vehicle we thought we had ordered; the flat tire on the car when it was brought to us, the gigantic extra cost to get another vehicle; the non-working GPS we paid dearly for, the cavalier treatment we got when we asked for adjustment for the GPS, etc, etc. The only grace, if you can call it that, is that we were not the only disgruntled customers in line when we returned the car.

All around badI couldn't find the office or where to pick up the car. The address given in the confirmation led me to a place where we were told easirent was no longer located. When I tried to call multiple times, nobody answered the phone. I finally just gave up and rented from another servicer/company.The whole experience.

Very shady operationThe car was fine. The shuttle was hard to find. A location was provided, but no directions. The office was located in a dirt lot in an industrial zone. They attempted to sell me very expensive insurance. When I asked for a receipt after dropping off the car, they told me to take a picture.

Nothing but a scam artist ripping off customersBasically nothing to like about these guys if I could give less then one stars I would. Kayak should drop these guys as a rental agent.Pushy salesman that lie to you claiming that U.K. Laws changed and I am required to prove I have insurance coverage otherwise I have to pay for full coverage. A call to budget and avis after the fact proved that no law changed and they were sorry that that happened to us. And even when you say you want to return the car early they will not give you a refund on "any unused tire" as they said is in the terms and conditions which was never told to us on pick up. The pick up for both Scotland airports Edinburgh and Glasgow are off site a few miles away from the airport so you are in a the middle of a rundown lot and no way to go. They don't explain nor show you the full terms and conditions yet they just copy and paste your signature onto it. And when you call and talk to the customer service they hang up on you and say that all the managers have gone on a long weekend when there is not long weekend holiday that anyone knows about. My £91 booking I made ended up being £337. All because we had to but couldn't prove our credit cards or auto insurance policy had rental car insurance.

Car hire excess insurance in Livingston

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) & Theft Protection Waiver

Collision damage waiver and theft protection are insurance options that cover renters from paying high penalty fees if the car is stolen or returned damaged. Some Livingston car providers already include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection Waiver into the rental price but not all of them. We recommend always be aware of your coverage when renting a car in in Livingston.

Deductible

Keep in mind that car hire excess insurances often have a deductible clause, which is the amount you’ll have to pay if something happens during the time of your rental. If you want to avoid unwanted surprises, you should consider adding a no-deductible option to your Livingston car rental.

Top tips for renting a car in Livingston

  • Sitting just a short drive from the major city of Edinburgh (17 miles away), Livingston is a Scottish town that is known and loved for the historic and cultural attractions it offers to visitors, along with the picturesque tranquillity of the surrounding countryside. With car hire in Livingston, you can see everything the town and surrounding area is famous for: take a trip to Five Sisters Zoo (5 miles from the town centre), experience the historic surroundings of the Union Canal (7 miles away), or enjoy the peace of Cobbinshaw Reservoir (10 miles away).
  • Livingston sits 10 miles from Edinburgh Airport (EDI), a drive that can be completed in less than 20min via the M8 motorway. A number of hire car companies can be found at the airport terminal, including Enterprise, Hertz and Thrifty, meaning you will have no problem getting a car of your choice. Livingston car hire companies are also located in the town centre of Livingston, so planning your journey both locally and further afield should be simple enough.
  • Unlike many British towns, Livingston was planned to limit congestion and traffic: for getting around the town, make use of the ring road that sits to the east of Livingston. The vibrant inner city has no shortage of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops, so when driving nearby always be alert for pedestrians, cyclists, and other potential hazards.
  • Livingston isn’t quite as congested as neighbouring Edinburgh. However, you may find the roads to be slightly busier depending on what time of day you travel. From 08:00 until 10:00 you can expect a fair bit of traffic as locals make their way to work or school, then again in the afternoon, from around 16:00 until 19:00. Scotland in general also experiences extreme winters and Livingston is no exception: while major roads are rapidly treated for ice and snow, be careful when driving during the colder months.
