Where to meet for pick up is not real clear. Signage might help.

Newport Beach car hire offers numerous advantages for exploring the city and its surroundings. With car hire in Newport Beach, you have the freedom to easily visit favoured attractions like Balboa Island and the stunning beaches along the California coast without relying on public transport schedules. Exploring the nearby Crystal Cove State Park or driving to Laguna Beach becomes more convenient with a car. Additionally, having a car allows you to venture to nearby destinations like Disneyland or the famous Newport Beach Harbor.
When getting a hire car at the airport in Newport Beach, you'll find car hire offices conveniently located at John Wayne Airport (SNA). The car hire offices are in the Ground Transportation Center, accessible from the Arrivals level. There's no dedicated airport shuttle service to the car hire offices, but they are within walking distance from the terminals. Through online car hire in Newport Beach, you can easily pick up your vehicle upon arrival at John Wayne Airport and begin your exploration of the city.
When driving in Newport Beach, be aware of cyclists and pedestrians, especially around popular areas, such as Balboa Peninsula and Fashion Island. Take extra caution when approaching intersections, and be prepared for sudden crossings. Newport Beach is known for its beach culture, so watch for surfers and beach-goers carrying their equipment near the coastline. Parking spaces near the beach and popular attractions can be limited, so allow extra time to find parking or consider using public car parks.
Navigating through Newport Beach during rush hour can be challenging, so it's essential to plan your journeys accordingly. Rush hour in the city typically occurs between 07:30 and 09:30 and from 16:30 to 18:30 on weekdays. During these peak times, you may encounter heavier traffic on major roads such as Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), Newport Boulevard, and Jamboree Road. Additionally, it's worth noting that summer attracts more tourists, which can also lead to increased traffic volumes in certain areas.

Cigarette smoke odor in car. I tried calling car rental & no one answered phone. Then called a different location to exchange car & could not. Too much of a hassle to drive back to JWA & exchange car. Purchased essential oil to somehow mask odor.

We reserved a car but it wasn't ready and had to wait 25 minutes while they looked for a car and had it serviced. What good is making a reservation if it doesn't guarantee a vehicle?

Full-size SUV

Despite booking and paying for our rental car several weeks in advance, there were no cars available at our designated pick up time. Nor was the employee behind the counter able to issue us a refund or help us find a car at another location. He claimed their system “was not connected that way.” The entire experience was unacceptable.

Would have been an excellent review but a few items in the car did not work USB adapter, some of the features on the screens and most importantly tire pressure was off by 17 lbs under inflated and 10 lbs inflated on other wheels. That is scary and very important to me on safety
