FOX caused me so many porblems of my driver license issue. It ended up they jacked up the price of 3 days rental to 600 USD and convint me to purchase the rental. Eventually I walked to the next door , THRIFTY, and Thrifty didn’t give me any problem. They also offer me a decent deal. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH FOX AGAIN

Everything went well. My only complaint is the deposit amount that has to one credit card. They are always changing amount, it was 300$ now it's $400. It's difficult to budget since you're never the amount ahead of time. No where on website either. All in all good value. Our check out person(LAX) Hunter was very nice. When I picked up the rental car (a Kia Niro EV), they asked me to return the car with 70-80% charge. That's exactly what I did (I returned it with ~190 miles of range, or 75% charge). Then they charged me $35 to charge the car up. I will be disputing the charge, but I should not have to waste my time doing this.

Getting to the Midway rental office from the airport is a bit confusing and poorly marked/explained. You take an airport bus from the arrivals to a parking lot down road from the airport, and then the rental car companies routinely come by and use vans/large SUVs to bring people from that parking lot to their specific rental location. The check out line was long and slow (about 35-40 mins of waiting), but once I got to counter it was smooth and it took 5-10 minutes to get the paperwork filled out. Returning car was fast and easy.

most car rental places at LAX pick you up directly. midway makes you take this bus, operated by the airport, which stops at every terminal and then brings you to a random area which then you get off and then finally head to the rental location. once there, they have no bathroom, and the line moves super slowly. better to spend another $50 per day to avoid this hassle.

The car was dirty and smelled bad. We bought clorox wipes to clean some of the dried stains that we found; it helped with the smell. We also kept the windows open as much as possible to let the air circulate. After a couple days, the smell was contained.

I’m glad they were able to switch the driver name after we booked, I didn’t realize whoever makes the booking is automatically the driver but of course. The staff was patient and friendly. It would have been nice if they brought the car up from the parking spot. I am recovering from foot surgery and had specifically asked if they can bring up the car. No other “complaints” lol thanks team :)

I rented a car in the LA and and returned in Las Vegas. Everything went well. Only at LA airport it took a while for the shuttle appear to take us to the rental office, but the traffic was chaotic. Return the car to Las Vegas was very easy and quick.

I was told when I arrived in LAX that they “lost my reservation” which made no sense because I was able to show them my confirmation email. They were not helpful with resolving the issue and had an attitude like it was my fault. I was given the tiniest car that barely fit my suitcases and halfway thru the trip the check engine light came on. Luckily the roadside agent was pleasant and helpful but we still had to make a detour to Oklahoma City airport to exchange cars, this customer service agent was more helpful but was unable to extend my rental due to the delay, he explained it was a computer issue that didn’t allow him to help, this needs to be resolved on a corporate level because I lost multiple hours detouring to get a new car and was still expected to return it on time. The drop off at South Bend airport is not explained in detail, I circled the lot looking for a drop box to return the key in 4 degree weather, had to exit my car and walk down a walkway with almost no signage until I found a sign that said the drop box was inside, you can’t see this sign from the lot and the Avis website does not describe where it is.

It was good. Budget helped me about the drop off and it was easy to solve some issues. However, the cleanness of the car was really poor. We found stuff and belongs to earlier renters under the seats.

Despite having a reservation and pick up time for the vehicle, there were a staggering 40+ customers ahead of me also waiting for their vehicles. I had the last and only vehicle in my category. The person at the desk was great but the nearly an hour waiting to be served was unacceptable- especially at the highly inflated rates.

If I could give AVR a zero rating I would. The staff was rude and very unhelpful. I booked online for a 8am pickup but had changed my flight to a later flight and then that flight got delayed. Finally made it to their location which was off property and used to find. I had final them 4x to figure out where this shuttle was bc there are no signs for their company. When I finally got there, 30 mins to closing they said they gave my reservation away. Then she the lady said “oh sorry we have no cars left (which I saw cars on the lot) and pretty much whooshed me away. I had a family of 7. What a nightmare. I did rebook online with SIXT which was a few blocks and and SIXT was awesome. 😎 Never Ever again with AVR!!!

First off the pick up/drop offs location is not even at the airport and I was given no heads up about this. In order to get there, I would have had to order 2-3 Uber’s to get my entire family and luggage there. And then try to find 3 more Uber’s at 3 am to get back, upon our return. When I called to find out the location, initially, there employee was extremely rude. I did not pick up my rental and I used a different rental company. I won’t be using this them or kayak again. Kayak should have disclosed this info ahead of time.

Finding the pick up location at LAX was confusing. It is not where the other rental car pick shuttles are located. Once at the Westin, the line to check-in took forever and then I was rudely told they have no more cars in the class I reserved and blamed it on the third party vendors for over selling. I could either pay extra to get a car or they would cancel my reservation. The car was clean. The electronics in the car were a little sketchy. The car would connect and disconnect from apple car play constantly to the point where it was unsafe to use. Upon return I left my jacket in the car. I have called, texted, emailed. No response. Nu is impossible to get a hold of. Even when I had a question about pick up location and texted the number they suggested, 2 weeks later, still no response. I would never use this company again.

I liked the car and the quickness, friendliness, and easy of the workers in the garage who checked it out and in. The communications about how to get from airport to hotel were misleading and unhelpful. 1. Instructed to take shuttle from LAX to Westin hotel, I went to the "rental car shuttle" line outside the airport and waited well over a half hour while no NU Car shuttle came by. 2. Instructed by my printed rental confirmation to "call" an (818) # for assistance, I did. Got a recorded message that this number did not take call, only texts. 3. Text reply directed me (and at least a dozen other customers) to a different line to board a Metro bus that we could have been on much earlier. 4. Bus dropped us a remote lot to wait for a NU Car shuttle to hotel. Another long wait. 5. Two of the others with whom I was waiting (but not all of us) got a text that the pickup van or car was not working. 6. We all wound up hiking to the hotel. (relieved that none of us had more luggage than we could carry or tow, and that the weather was warm and dry)

This was easily the worst experience at a car rental place ever in my life and I am 55. Firstly they close at 10 pm which was not clear to me. Their location in LAX is very difficult to get to. I had to take an Uber to get there and paid $33 for it. Then they said that they have to see my insurance papers with all the coverage before they will accept it . This has never happened to me. Who carried their insurance papers and no one ever asks to see them. Others there were also complaining. They would have charged $45 per day for the basic insurance. More than my rental. As I was thinking the person across the counter and one other person in the office began to pressure me by surrounding me and repeatedly ask me to make the choice because it is closing time. I asked them if they could give me 5 min to think and they kept loudly asking me. 2 people were constantly telling me to immediately make a decision. When i reluctantly agreed then they told me the car I had booked was not available and they can only give me a jeep or a dodge sports car. I did not want those because the gas the consumption would be very high. I then asked if I could call my friend to see if they can pick me up at 10'pm, they once again started the same pressure tactics. And this time a really big guy came over and he was nearly shouting. At this point I decided not to rent and leave. So at 10:20 pm, I walked out. As I walked out this person said something that sounded like an obscenity. I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO RENT A CAR EVER. I then went over to thrifty and got a car rental in 20 min. Amazingly different experience. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE

Awful. Tonne's of hidden fees. Was quoted as a $35 day rate, when I went to pick up they added a "mandatory" $45 insurance fee supposedly required by law, even though I had insurance through credit card. Declined to pick up and went to Avis. Magically - they didn't have said mandatory fee.

The worst. 1. Rental car closed at 9:30pm not at 10:00 as they said. I couldn’t pick up the car and ended up paying an $80 Uber to my destination 🫠 2. After I spoke with a representative they said they’d hold my reservation until the next day until 10 am. 3. When I arrived to pickup the car my reservation was cancelled and they were charging for extra money. Yes it’s a cheap rental car but the way that they work with time and customer services is the worst. We not dependent on our own time in an airplane and they have to understand that.

We arrived at LAX after 10p and took a shuttle to the Ace rental car stop BUT Ace was closed at 10p. That was Not noted in the reservation and it was dark/not a safe area and I had 2 small kids/wife and plenty of luggage. Will not reserve from this place anymore.

Place is a dump, which immediately raised concerns, but the big issue was the agent's trying to upsell constantly. Specifically, they insisted on providing us "collision only" coverage at $23.99 per day unless we could provide them with the declarations page on our insurance coverage. Being a Saturday the insurance company was closed we had a real problem. My wife was eventually able to find an email from the company confirming our coverage with the deductibles (which was what they were really after). We got it resolved, but only after escalating to a supervisor. What we observed with the other customers was more of the same thing - hard sell. Not surprising given the rates, but we won't be coming back. Their hours are 8AM-6PM. If you return off hours there is a different procedure and a fee (I think that it's $22.50) for the drop off. This wasn't a problem for us, as we arrived promptly at 8AM and were quickly processed. But it's another issue.

We were dropped off in the dark to an empty parking lot. Luckily a different company took pity on us and gave us a ride. Once we got to the rental company, we were told that any insurance that we had pre-purchased was invalid, including our own insurance which covered us, as well as our credit card insurance which covered us, as well as the additional insurance I put purchased through their website. They told us we had to pay an extra $369 USD in order to be able to rent the car. I was alone with my three children had already paid for the car rental and had no choice, but to pay the extra fees or be forced to be left in the street at night with my kids. That can really only be considered extortion.

I had called in a couple of times to clarify drop off and shuttle times and was told the location was closed until 5am. So I dropped my party off at the airport for 4:15am then went back to wait at the rental car location to return the vehicle. Because of timing I pre booked an Uber car to pick me up at 5:20 to hopefully get me back to the airport in time for my 7am flight. To my surprise the rental car location drop off was actually open despite what I was told on the phone. So I was able to return the car and get on a shuttle before 5am. So I ended up cancelling my Uber and paying a cancellation fee. The stress of trying to ensure vehicle return, getting to my flight and then wasting money to book an Uber because of bad information over the phone is annoying.

The old saying you get what you pay for must be true after picking up the car we drove it 59 miles turn the car off went to make a purchase came back out. The car would not start. We were in Glendora California so we had to wait an hour For your LAX location to have another driver. Bring us another car. . Obviously we had a dead battery. I will never book with kayak again, there was no fine print stating that I had to be over the age of 22 so when we got to silver car with all of our luggge expecting to get a car we were turned down because of age requirements!!! My experience with State Van Rental was ok. The attended was professional and explained there process. What could have been better….. an updated van. I like how the attendant came and picked us up and drop us right off at the drop off area for our flight. In my next travel if a van is needed I will use them again.

I was a little wary about going with a local car rental agency -- I've gotten cars that weren't clean or smelled smoky. Black & White were extremely polite, professional and prompt. I was picked up in an impeccably clean Suburban, and the car I got (Toyota Corolla) was very clean and worked well. As a female, some of these car rental agencies don't feel safe and seem sketchy, but this agency was not one of them. I would 100% recommend them again, and I will definitely see if they have a car for me the next time I need a car from LAX.

I don’t know. I never got to rent it. My flight got delayed and they cancelled my reservation and then closed. Luckily there were half a dozen places still open.

I liked and enjoyed the car. The pick up was the worse experience I’ve ever had renting a car. I was told I had to get collision and sign up, get a quote on the spot and pay for it to continue the rental process. Very strange that they don’t have that worked out already. The vehicles were in a shared parking lot. I wasn’t given the paper to hand off to the attendant to receive the vehicle so I had to go back and get it. They only have one shuttle bus so if you miss it you have to wait an hour for the next. It was AWEFUL. I willl never use this company again.

Not good at all!. They didn't give the car we booked or hoped for early and and made us wait 5 hours yo get a inferior SUV vehicle eventually. We got Charget Hellcqt for 5 hours, if that helps!!

The routes car rental company management is absolutely mess . We went there at 2.45 pm and didn’t get our car till 4pm and we were only customers they were dealing with . No pick or drop from airport as mentioned, we had to take Uber which costed us extra $25 . The car rental process is not streamlined and manager there when complained had no sympathy/empathy that why is taking so long . I would not recommend this place to anyone

Pros:

The representatives were very nice. I received a prompt call from a very nice person after my complaint about my experience. I was refunded the extra $10.00 I had been charged to get me to the airport in time to catch my flight.

Cons:

Hidden charge - about $4.50 more than quoted by KAYAK. I had to pay $4+ for the inconvenience of waiting longer (they only run every 15 min) for a shuttle; than having to wait 15 mins for another pick up to take me to the car rental. The car was old and smelled. The carpeting was coming away from the floor.

They mixed up my pick up time. I was scheduled to pick up my vehicle at 12 noon, they had me picking up at 2pm. She was adamant about this 2pm pick up time until I showed her my reservation on my phone. After this got worked out, she told me that they not only didn't have the vehicle I requested, they only had one vehicle on site- a gigantic minivan, which isn't ideal for city driving. When returning the vehicle they drop you off about a mile away from the shuttle because, in our driver's words "We don't pay to enter the parking lot" A mile walk carrying luggage at the end of the trip isn't how you want to end a trip.

Got a very dirty car. My pickup appointment was delayed by half hour due to short staffing. When returning the vehicle, i was treated poorly by staff. They weren't attentive in any way. Received a discount but i had to prove the vehicle was dirty...soo glad i took a video.

Cons:

Took me over 40 minutes to get a car. First car I got had broken trunk lock. Instead of replacing this car, stuff starts to guide me how should I close this trunk. Overall, if you want cheap car, this is the place to go. If you want normal service, I wouldn't recommend this place.
