U Chiang Mai is a low rise building comprised of 41 rooms and is located in the heart of the old city on Ratchadamnoen Road. Only 20 minutes drive from Chiang Mai International Airport and minutes walk to citys famous walking streets. The staff brings sunscreen, insect repellent, icy water, a few slices of melon and towels as soon as you get to the pool. The location is also decent and the hotel staff at the 2nd floor main entrance did an excellent job of getting us transportation and directing the drivers to the right places.

The rooms are large with excellent airco and a nice balcony facing the garden. Every room has a large round hot tub. Free WIFI at the pool and on your balcony and free use of internetcomputers.They have a great breakfast with different hot meals and a wide range of fruits and also choice in sweat pastry.There's a cook at the counter to prepare your egg's or pancake just the way you like it. We paid 2400 THB a night which is not much for the high standards in this hotel.

Pros: The room was truly excellent value at 2000 Thai baht including as much Continental, American and Thai breakfast as you might wish to eat (in a spacious restaurant atmosphere). Our room not only had very comfortable beds but also a big sofa. There was free tea and coffee and the minibar was very reasonably priced - dressing gowns, slippers, plenty of hot water for the good bath and shower. Everything was spotless. The location near the night market is superb and the sound proofing very good. We visited at holiday time so there was no renovation or building work going on. This is now our first choice of hotel in Chiang Mai for sheer value for money.

For facility, it is enough, especially a swimming poor. I don't have chance to swim, but it is good, anyway. The location is nearby Chiangmai wall and gate, very close Sunday walking market. It is good. But it is far from Night bazza and shoping mall.

Pros: The pool was great. The location is the best part of Top North - one can walk to 50 Restaruants and bars and you are across the street from the City Moat - so easy to fund you way. It is also on the West side of the city so easy access to Night Market, Thai Boxing and shopping.
