Two hour wait. Didn't have my car so I upgraded, and then was lied to about the charges. Two phone calls in an attempt to rectify and a note left for the supervisor at drop off. No call back. This company is just awful.

Multiple patrons and myself were denied cars despite having confirmed rentals and being in line before the rental location closed, which resulted in me having to book a hotel room for a night costing me over $100 because Thrifty refused to give us a car until the next morning even though our rental confirmed starting that evening. If they refuse to serve within 30 minutes of their closing time, then that needs to be clearly stated at time of reservation and reservations should not be allowed to be booked.

My decision to rent was made at the last minute. I was able to make my reservation online on my phone while I was standing in line. The price was, I thought, good, $202 for a compact car for 2 days. Unfortunately, despite there being numerous Thrifty rental sites, I was required to return the car at the same location (O'Hare airport), which was not convenient. After 20 minutes in line, the rental process was relatively quick. I was told that my car would be ready in 30 minutes. After 45 minutes, my car was not ready. I got back in line to talk with one of the agents. While in line, a rather upset woman skipped the queue and went right up to the counter. It wasn't hard to overhear her part of the conversation: She had been waiting an hour and 20 minutes and still no car. She walked away, obviously not satisfied. After another 20 minutes in line, I spoke with an agent who said my request for a car hadn't yet been entered and that it would be another 30 minutes before my car was ready. I spoke to another agent, who I believed to be the supervisor, who said the cars were not being returned as fast as they were being reserved (in other words, they were renting cars that they didn't have). He told me there were 3 other customers ahead of me and he couldn't tell me how much longer the wait would be. I proposed telling the people behind me in line that they were being promised cars that weren't available, and he said, "I can't stop you. You'd be doing me a favor." I cancelled the reservation online and took an Uber to my destination. While eating lunch at a restaurant, I received a call from a Thrifty agent 45 minutes later to let me know that my car was ready, unaware that I had cancelled the reservation. This is my first attempt in 20 years to rent a car, so I don't know if this is common.

Thrifty sold us a Sedan but were out of Sedans when we got there. We had to upgrade to a large SUV and pay more $ or wait an hour for a Sedan to arrive. We also ordered, and paid for an EZ PASS that was invalid. So not only did we pay for the EZ PASS, we also paid for tolls the entire way back which was upwards for $100. When I called Thrifty, they said they would remove the EZ PASS charge which never happened. And if they didn't, I had to wait for my final bill then call. It's not even worth the time. The Cars we're cheaper than most other rentals, but I can now see why.

In a time when it was really tough to find a rental car, Thrifty came through big time. Everyone was really easy to deal with and the car itself was exactly what we needed and didn’t feel over charged. Definitely got our money’s worth!

Classic bait and switch. They offer the lowest price on-line, but when you go to pick up your car, they have NONE at the category chosen. You have a choice: wait for a car to come in - I was told maybe 2 hours (and this was already after a 35 minute wait in line) or pay $10 more/day for next level up. And when the folks in line behind me don't have their mid-size car, guess what...they got to pay for the SUV. What a racket! And they simply wash the cars and turn 'em around to the next person. 15 miles down the round, a maintenance sensor went off - and went off every day. Return of car was a joke. Nobody with an electronic scanner to confirm that car was returned on time. I told the guy about the sensor - he said not to worry - it will be checked by the mechanics before it goes out again. Yes, that's probably what the last customer was told as well. Never got an itemized receipt. Cost was $150 more than expected. A reservation means nothing. They should be paying the customer because they don't have the product ordered. SCAM!

The car was fine and the price beat all the competition but the office was woefully understaffed at pick up and drop off. Be prepared to wait an hour.

Rude lady checking me in. Trying to upswell me. Car inside windows were not clean. Car not clean.
