Unbelievably easy, inexpensive and comfortable.
Pros: I had great service at the rental counter. I had a 9 hour one way drive and they gave me a comfortable fuel efficient clean Nissan Sentra and it was unbelievably inexpensive for a one-way car rental.

Cons: There was a few ladies at the front desk on there phones, it just seemed a little unprofessional... I also wasn't totally in love with my car... But most of all it was a good experience.

Drop off could have been improved
Pros: The service picking up the car was impeccable, Tyronne helped us at the Chicago airport and was quick and friendly. The car was clean and well maintained.
Cons: We dropped off the car Sunday evening, which I am sure is a very busy time for returns. The return lanes were so full we couldn't even pull in. Then we wondered through all the cars searching for an employee to check us out, came upon a female employee standing near the elevators who basically told us go find someone else. We did, eventually.

Pros: The reservation process was quick as was the drop off process. Due to a quick need for a funeral, the price was perfect for what I needed. I didn't need anything fancy - just to get me there and back.

Pros: Simple and quick. Nice staff
Cons: Jeep patriots are boring and jeep compass have poor handling. That's all you had left for mid size SUV. Obviously no one likes them because that was the only thing left

Pros: Nice clean car. Great customer service at rental And return. N high pressure sales tactic to buy insurance. That's the thing I hate where other company spend ten minutes selling you insurance for keys. Yes my insurance does not cover 150$ keys so this ither company fold me insurance for keys.
Cons: Tire pressure was it even. 3 wre 41 psi 1 was 30 psi. In 10F weather I had to fill air. Not so nice.

Budget/Avis at ohare may scam u
Pros: Clean, comfortable car
Cons: We reserved a cat from ohare, we picked up the car from ohare and we returned the car to ohare. My quote was 372. We returned the car with no damage and a full gas tank and were charged 722. They claim they quoted me as renting the car from midway airport and then returning it to midway airport. There is no other explanation except they try to rip you off and hope you don't look at the recipt until it's too late. After arguing with a very rude agent for 40 min we got a manager who was professional but clueless. After about 90 min we had to go or else we would miss our flight home. We had to settle paying 480. Over a hundred dollars more than we should have. Have rented several cars before from other services and have never had a problem. Will rent from ohare airport many more times but will never at any location rent from Budget/Avis.

Don't Trust Customer Service
Pros: Got a much larger and more useful vehicle for essentially the same price as a regular mini van rental.
Cons: Spoke to two separate customer service reps to verify that my age (24) would not prevent me from receiving the vehicle I had reserved. Was told that the location I chose would have no problem accommodating me and would allow that. When I showed up to get my mini van, I was told no and had to get the branch manager involved to make an exception. Then they didn't have any mini vans so I was given a 12 passenger van. Not an issue but I had to re-purchase the insurance after I had already paid for insurance on my initial rental, was already too late to have it refunded.

Budget is the way to go
Pros: Great staff, easy access to car, idiot proof return, and helpful call center!
Cons: The O'hare return center did not have a gas station close. This is not a poor reflection on Budget. Just wish there was a gas station near the return.

Cons: Enterprise car rental itself was perfect, and they fixed everything that Kayak did horribly. Even though I entered Ohare International Airport in Chicago as my pickup, Kayak booked the reservation 15 miles away, so I would have had to pay a taxi about a one day rental cost to get me to my rental reservation. Double check the reservation info to make sure Kayak isn't screwing you over.

Declined CDW twice to counter person; ended up cha
Cons: Declined all coverages, including CDW, twice when asked by counter rental person. Did not look at contract once signed and printed; found out a daily collision damage waiver had in fact been put on contract. Tried to get adjusted; Dollar refused, saying I had signed it. Strongly suggest making them say it all back, not just sign the electronic keypad. Won't be doing Dollar again.

No Problem Rental
Pros: I had no issues with the vehicle, and drop-off was no problem. Also, I had a "to be determined" vehicle in exchange for a lower rate. It was a good decision.
Cons: The pick-up was a little problem due to the staffing at MDW. Because it was Sunday?

They ripped me off.
Cons: We reserved a rental for Dec 21 through Dec 23rd back in October. The rental price for the 2 days was $97.00.We found out that we wouldn't be able to get the car back until 5pm instead of 12pm. When we picked up the car we told them that and expected to pay for the extra time. Instead of adding the 5 extra hours they cancelled our entire reservation and changed it to a same day reservation and charged us $400.00. We asked for an explanation and they said that was the way they do things. We will NEVER use them again.

Charged for 'express fuel'
Cons: Chicago Midway -- the rental itself was not very clean on the exterior and the paint was pretty beat up. That aside, pick up wasn't exactly pleasant, but... That's sort of the norm with some airports in my experience. I was charged $15 over and above my original rate for something called 'express fuel.' My understanding is that if you use the car for less than 75 miles, regardless of the gas you put into it before returning, you are charged this rate. I don't have the slightest idea why they would encourage renters to put more miles on the car by punishing them if they drive <75mi, but that was the case for me. The aspect that bothered me most was that the attendant made no mention of this surcharge when I returned the vehicle. So yeah, topped off the tank, no damage to the vehicle, returned well before the time I rented it for, but still was charged for express fuel.

Pros: We loved the car it was perfect for our purpose.
Cons: When we arrived to pick up the car the gentleman at the counter was very pushy about the car we had rented as the smallest and worst car in the lot and that it was a managers special, and we should upgrade. We told no thank you several times, and finally had to say just give me the papers to sign please as we very tired arriving for reason of a family members death. Additionally I did not like the fact that I still have not received a final statement in my e-mail as they were not open when we dropped the car off. If you are going to offer a rental service at the airport, please make sure you have the staff to complete the transactions. Not comfortable with the "unknown"

Cons: I tried to rent a car in Mexico from not just Hertz but other companies and the bottom line was that it was cheaper to buy a car there than to rent one. They all have great daily rates just that they all get you with insurance at a rate of about 500.0 and deposits of up to 2000.00 which is crazy! So travelers beware!

Chicago Midway Airport Hertz
Cons: Upon arrival in Chicago Midway Airport we clocked in at 1:28. We rented from 1pm two days before to 1 pm. On the drive in, I even called customer service to make sure that we had a half hour window before being charged an extra day of $62 plus. When our car was scanned in by a lady with an iPad at 1:28pm, I didn't see a problem until the girl at the counter said we would be charged another full day. If it says 30 minutes, it needs to be 30 minutes. We asked to talk to a manager, she went to get one, and the same woman came out only to tell us that we would still owe another day charge. So we asked again to speak to the manager who wouldn't come out. She was extremely short with me, I explained that I had just made the drive from New Orleans to Chicago to save money on flights, so $62 is a lot of money to me. Especially since I drove like hell to get there in time. Which I did. She told me she could do nothing about it as she didn't make the reservation. I pleaded with her and said it made no sense as it says we arrived at 1:28. Out of nowhere, she begrudgingly took off the charge after having told us she had no way of doing so, clearly meaning that was a lie in the first place. My complaint is how this was handled. And WHY it was handled like this! The manager had a sh*tty look on her face and we were treated like we were trying to get out of paying or something when we were IN the window of time. Very agitating experience and rude, I'm in customer service and would never talk to someone like that, lie to them or try and swindle another days charge for no reason.

Hertz did not honor their reservation with me and

Cons: I can't wait to have my attorney look over this incident! After making and getting a confirmed reservation, changing my travel plans based on this reservation, HERTZ stranded me on Christmas eve morning at 0230 am... They refused to rent me a vehicle and stated that they do not do 1 way rentals on christmas. After showing the counter person my reservation, they again refused to rent me a car. I then went to their website and tried to make another reservation and they were still showing cars available. I was told, regardless of what the website said, they would not rent me a car. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I work in customer service and I would never do that to someone on Christmas... If their cars were truly not available, they should have blocked them out like all of the other rental companies. Had they done that, I never would have changed my reservation and flown to a city that I didn't really need to be in. I will be looking for reimbursement for all of my travel expenses (even though they were minor) so as to not allow any one to set a precedence for this type of service, operation, treatment and overall business practice. This is false advertising, and is tantamount to a breech of contract. Not only do I deserve answers, but I deserve an apology. I hope that this review is passed around and this company is put on notice!

Cons: When I went to pick up the car, the office was closed even tho I talked to the representative just a few minutes before closing and he did not say anything about closing. I was trying to find them and was not familiar with the city i was in. Ended up losing the money I paid for that reservation and had to make another one. The quote was $170 and ended up paying over $270 as a final charge. Not happy about that.

Cons: I arrived at the pick up location and there was no one there. I had reserved the car, but ended up having no car over there. Had to spend more money on a cab to get me to a different location that managed to have a car for me. Overall, the car I reserved for pick up at 1pm, I wasn't able to get to until 3pm - leaving me EXTREMELY late for a wedding I was going to (I missed the ceremony). It was a terrible experience.

Cons: I had reserved through hotwire for $25.99/day full size for 5 days. In their defense I did arrive a little earlier than my reservation time so they said the full-size was not available and they would give me a mid-size. I asked would the price be the same as quoted and he said yes. When I dropped off the car, my end charge was for $45/day almost double the price. And they did not provide shuttle to the airport. I called the main line and they did adjust teh price back to my original quote but blamed me because I arrived early. If I would have know I would have waited the 45 minutes to pick-up at my scheduled time.

Pros: Car was clean, spacious and drove well.
Cons: Very tired of rental car check in counter employee tacking on "optional" charges. I want exactly what I reserved. Nothing more, nothing less for the price at which I reserved the rental. If I didn't want insurance when I reserved the car I do not want it now. Bait and switch. Also, my car seat would not adjust so hopefully they will fix that for future customer. I took it "as is" only because it took me 40 minutes to get my rental car and it was 1 am in the morning and had an hour drive to hotel.

Pros: Unfortunately I fell down a flight of stairs and was unable to drive except for the first couple of days of my 2 week rental. Due to the terms of the agreement I was unable to return the car early or designate another driver (unless we both returned to the place of the rental....with me driving.) The car was great but I won't try this again.....too inflexible. The empoyees at pick up and return were very efficient and friendly and helpful. I had to drive the car back for the return which was unbelievably painful.
Cons: The price and restrictions.

Not so Thrifty
Pros: There was some damage to the car when it was returned. The local Thrifty outlet did not delay me as a result, but had me fill out a simple form for their claims adjuster. (It remains to be seen, though, how this claim will be handled, since I did not take Thrifty's coverage when I rented.)
Cons: I rented from Thrifty because it showed the lowest price. What I did not know is that unlike some other car-rental companies I have used, Thrifty charges extra for your spouse to be a driver. It cost be more than $400 extra on a one-month rental for my wife to be allowed to drive. That means Thrifty was actually MORE expensive than other companies. Be sure to read the fine print from whatever company you use. It took about 30 minutes to get from the pick-up location at the airport to the Thrifty rental location that was described as "on airport." The grill of the car was covered with bugs when I picked it up. Apparently, there had been little or no effort to clean them off when the car was washed.

Cons: Didn't realize that Thrifty was located further away from the airport than I had anticipated. Significantly farther than the other major companies (hertz, avis, etc.) who were located closer to the airport. This wouldn't impact my desire to rent from Thrifty in the future however.

Cons: Picking up the car was extremely slow due to only one person being on duty and moving like it was the DMV. I was the third person in line when I arrived and it took over 30 minutes to get to the counter. Once I got the vehicle I noticed that the rental contract was for $553 instead of the $289 reservation rate. Going back inside was not an option because there were over 10 people in line by that point. The person at the exit gate gave me the managers office number, whcih turned out to be a waste of time because they never answer and will not return calls. I even spoke with the 800 number personnel who left a message for te local manager to no avail. I will never rent form this location again

Don't rent from Midway airport
Cons: It was a terrible experience renting from this location. I was told that the Payless site was at the airport. It was not and I had to take 2 shuttles to get there. The actual office was a distance from the airport and was old and outdated. In addition the Payless specific shuttle was dirty and the driver was highly inconsiderate and played loud music during the drive. Also, I was not informed, nor was there a sign in the office telling me that a hold would be placed on my debit card until the car was returned. Overall a very disappointing experience.

Deceptive pricing/advertising
Cons: The web site said they were on site at Midway, they are not, you have to take 2 buses to get to the rental location. I was charged $25 for an additional 4 hours for my rental. I rent cars often and am not interested in using them EVER.

NOT in terminal
Pros: Counter staff were very friendly and courteous.
Cons: When I booked this reservation, I was mislead into thinking that Payless was located in the terminal at Chicago Midway. Not only was it not in the terminal, it wasn't even located in the rental car building where all the other agency are. I had to take the shuttle from the terminal to the car rental facility. Then I had to wait for a Payless bus to pick me up and take me to the Payless facility, located in a residential area a few miles away. If I had known this at the time I booked my car, it probably would not have been that big of a deal. However, since my reservation stated pickup was located "In Terminal", this experience was quite aggravating.

Never found the place
Cons: This felt like a bait and switch. We showed up at 5:00pm on a Tuesday to Midway airport. I didn't see the Payless logo on the rental shuttle so I asked a security guard and a bus driver where Payless was located. They both told me that ALL rental cars are found in the same place at Midway. My family got on the on this bus and the confusion continued. An hour later we ended up just renting a car from another company right there on the spot. Payless was in a different location, and more important, it was already closed for the night!!! No email, no phone call, no indication that Payless operates in a different location and on different hours than every other rental car option at Midway. Payless needs to find a way to communicate better with its customers

Cons: The website was not clear that everything was off site. There was no answer or voice mail on their contact line. I would not work with them again.

Must take two shuttles from Midwa
Cons: Kayak says Payless is in the "airport terminal", while others like Budget and Alamo are "shuttle." Wrong! You have to take the rental car shuttle, but then you need to take *another* shuttle from there to get to PayLess. We waited 20 minutes for the second shuttle while plenty of regular shuttles came and went. When I got off the second shuttle there was only one person at the desk. Fortunately I was second in line. The last person in line must have waited a long time to get their car. Returning is confusing because the entrance is not on the street of the address and due to a one-way street you have to go around the block to get in. Next time I'm going with one of the companies located in the rental car complex.

40% taxes!!
Cons: On top of the advertised prices we had to pay a total of 40% taxes, this made the rental the same price as the big rental companies. The staff were nice but personally I would not use payless again. Should be called Paymore!

Pros: The price was the best in the area.
Cons: The rental office was NOT at the terminal as indicated on-line. When informed by airport staff that all car rentals were at the car rental facility off airport, I took the shuttle there only to find that Payless was not there either. Another phone call and a 15 min wait outside later, a van showed up to take me to the Payless lot. My rental car was clean and the handoff went fine. They told me to return the car to this lot and they would take me to the airport directly. I had an early morning flight so arrived at the Payless office at 6:00am only to find that the office was closed and would not open 'till 7:00am! No one told me that cars could only be dropped off within certain hours. Furious!!!

Holiday rush - long lines
Pros: Car size for price, cleanliness, condition of the car - even with over 20,000 rental miles on it.
Cons: Long lines - over 30 minutes to get to the counter, then the agent wanted to explain why she could not find a car for me - I kept reminding her that I just wanted a car, not an explanation...

Pros: The vehicle and the cleanliness
Cons: The pricing seemed to be much higher than everyone else for a one day rental. I had no choice though. All flights were cancelled from Chicago and I could not get anything until 2 days later. Needed a car to drive home. At return of the vehicle; there was a lot of added in charges that I was never made aware of. Also, they tried to charge me for a full tank of gas, when I actually only used 1/3 of a tank.

Tried to rent me a car not in the size I wanted
Pros: I liked how easy it was to return the car and I liked how smooth the shuttle experience to the airport was, and i liked the car's cleanliness (once I finally negotiated to get the type of car I chose online.
Cons: I chose a midsize passenger car online and the guy tries to rent me an SUV when I get there, and then with difficulty they find me a midsize car finally. Stressful.

Cons: Pressure to buy Avis insurance, even though I had policy through Amex. Plus, hatchback lock rattled and set off open-door censor.

White Cars
Pros: Over all it was a good car for the money. I booked it on-line. for $340.00 In person... if I had just called in or walked down there, the cost would have been $500.00. What a joke!
Cons: I hate white cars. It was a Jetta. It pulled a little to the left. Returning the car to the lower level was tricky. One way up and down.

Pros: Good, reliable car
Cons: Customer service was lacking. They acted far too casual about the whole thing, and weren't forthright with the bill. I had to continue to pester them to get them bill right, and to share the parameters of my rental.

They didn't have a car for me on Thanksgiving!!
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Worst company ever. Told me they gave out all of their cars the night before thanksgiving and they didn't have any car to give me for my reservation. Had to rent from Avis for $260.00 for 1 day when my reservation with Economy was for $70.00

Pros: The employees of the company are friendly and helpful. The car was new and comfortable.
Cons: The company has a hidden "mandatory" roadside assistance fee of $100. It is NOT printed on any of the paperwork, nor or is there a notification when making the reservation on Kayak. It doubled the price of my rental, but there was 0 communication upfont. I reserve thru Kayak all the time and expect they would be disappointed in the hidden costs as well.

The car that wasn't there
Cons: "Reserved" online. It was not made clear that the company was offsite or that a credit card number was necessary to hold the car. Our flight arrived nearly 2 hours late. We took the shuttle to the rental counter only to realize Economy was in a different location. Called both the local number and the toll-free number and got no answer. By the time my phone calls caught up with me it was 12:30 am and the message was that they would hold the car until 10:00. So now we were stuck at Midway. Luckily we were able to rent anothe car but had to cram 6 adults with luggage into 1 car instead of 2 and had to pay a premium price. I would not use Economy again.

Chrysler 300 in Chicago
Pros: I rented from Icarus cars from several dealer this trip. National was the only one that actually had the car I reserved when I arrived, and did not jerk me around. Also, no line at midway (but the others had long lines...).
