9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice owners of the property. Lovely quaint Kent property that is close enough to town and the Dover Castle to walk. Property is clean with all that you need and breakfast was great.
Cons: The basement room has a low ceiling. The property is located next to a road that is fairly busy at night, ear plugs are provided! No car park if travelling by car.
7.1 Good
Pros: The apartment was easy to find. The bathroom was nice and the hosts provided lots of little things for a nice stay, such as tea, coffee, biscuits, cutlery and plates for a takeaway (we arrived late due to travel). The location was easy for the shuttle. We went up to the Castle the next day on the hosts’ recommendation and that was very nice (you can take your dog into the grounds which was helpful for us).
Cons: The hosts told us before that the room would be noisy and it surely was. We took the dog so obviously he needed a walk and the area is not very nice. We never saw the garden that was advertised. We felt a bit rushed in the morning, last breakfast being at 8.30 and the hosts on their way to leave for the day, as the carpet cleaners came. It was ok and I am sure on a different occasion that would not be the case.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything is great. The location is good, about 12 mins walk to the railway station, and several good restaurants nearby. The room is comfy and has very nice decor. The hosts are very responsive to our communication and always ready to help and love their breakfast!
Cons: -It's along the main road, so fairly amount of noise is expected in late night and early morning (didn't bother me and earplugs were provided). -the height of the room is limited as it is on the lower ground floor (didn't bother me much either, me personally 5'7'' but taller guests may need to consider it)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bev and Mike are amazing and so sweet. We had the whole basement area to ourselves with own access door. It was clean, comfortable, welcoming, homely and warm. We had all the creature comforts we needed, nothing was left out, from the amazing tea/coffee/hot chocolate facilities to the mince pies, to the ear plugs and sweets, it was just lovely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything , perfect stay

Pros: The breakfast was great, only beaten by the young lady serving it.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent food. Very good accommodation and very good staff and service. Overall a great hospitality experience
7.5 Good
Pros: Handy for an early Dover ferry - only 15-20 minutes from port. Nice atmosphere in the ‘pub’ restaurant. Very friendly staff and excellent food with a varied choice. Nice house wine and good range of beers. Comfy room and bed.
Cons: Quirky layout to room - everything was there, but not necessarily where you expect it. Traffic noise from the road but it’s not busy during the night. Though the food was excellent with good portions expect to pay more for the quality.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were lovely
Cons: Huge number of Pillows
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything Was lovely good food good drinks lovely atmosphere
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a gem! We were looking for somewhere to stay for the night before going to France for a couple of days that would also feel like part of our break rather than a faceless overnight stop. The Marquis ticked all the boxes and more on that score! A beautifully renovated pub with a warm and relaxing atmosphere, and a welcoming and helpful staff. Our classic room , although compact, was beautifully appointed, tastefully decorated and provided everything that we needed for a relaxing stay. Even if you only have time for one night, l would definitely recommend booking in for dinner. The food was first rate, and if you enjoy wine- there was an excellent wine list, with wine available by the glass or bottle. Breakfast the next morning was excellent, well prepared, with a wide range of cooked options on offer. It was only a quick drive to Dover, although the beautiful village made you think that you were miles away. All in all, a fabulous visit. We look forward to returning again, perhaps for longer next time , to explore this lovely area of Kent.
Cons: Nothing! It ticked all our boxes.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nicely decorated and good food.
Cons: The room was too hot and I couldn't open the window as it gave on to a patio which could be accessed externally.

Pros: We had a warm welcome from the owner and we had a chance to sip a super breakfast before embarking to France. Centrally located on Folkestone Road next to the railway station and a few minutes from Dover Priory.
Cons: nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: Very homely type of accommodation
Cons: Room far too cold for my liking
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners are so friendly and welcoming, even when we arrived just before midnight. Our room was small but practical and very clean. It‘s not particulary quiet, the walls seem to be a little on the thin side and there are train tracks next to the house. But as we‘re sleeping with earplugs anyway, it didn‘t really bother us. We‘ll come back everytime when travelling to the UK by ferry (it‘s just a few minutes from the ferry port, which is another benefit)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Parking was available, although it was on the street. Greeting was excellent. The room and ensuite bathroom was very clean, warm and comfortable. Bed was very comfortable. Although situated on the road the room was very quiet.
Cons: There is no lift and we were on the third floor which was painful for my knees. That is the only point against this property.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing staff!!!!!

Pros: The hotel is really nice unfortunately we had to leave early and they wouldn't make us a breakfast at 5 in the morning for us so that was a little disappointing but very nice people and nice big room it was nice because we had 4 of us to a room and the floor offered another bathroom from all of us so we were able to all get out quickly in the morning!
Castle Guest House - Dover - Building
6
9.0 Excellent (258 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Castle Guest House in Dover, you'll be in the historical district, within a 15-minute walk of Dover Museum and Dover Castle.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location was fantastic! A steep uphill walk of maybe 10 minutes (less if you're more fit than me) gets you directly to the Dover Castle's pedestrian entrance, this is the one close to the Operation Dynamo and Underground Hospital tunnels. Leisurely walk to and from the centre of town where you can catch either the bus or train in or out of Dover. Lots of good restaurants nearby and literally around the corner from the historic White Horse Inn. Breakfast was excellent, your choice from a selection of cooked food or cereals/yogurt/fruits, and Sharon was very welcoming and more than happy to keep your luggage after check out if you wanted to have a look around town first.
Cons: Only that the attic room was quite a climb! Also the shower drain was very slow. Not a fan of the tiny sink and overhanging faucet but I suppose it's a necessity for the size of the ensuite.
8.6 Excellent
Pros: Sharon was so nice & helped me in several ways!
Cons: The stairs are fine. Room a little small, but not unworkable.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Although we only stayed one night we felt the very nice and personal atmosphere of this guest house. The room was very tidy and nicely decorated, with the possibility to have a tea or coffee in the room. Our host gave us and our dog a warm welcome and even offered a very early breakfast as we had to catch the ferry. The guest house is located centrally, close to the town center and the ferry terminal which made it a perfect choice for us.
Cons: The windows are not isolated very well, so the noise of the street could get annoying. However, in our case there was not a lot of traffic during the night, so we did not have any issues.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Staff were friendly and helpful. Loved staying here
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great, host was lovely, location handy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location for getting around town, close to parking options, great breakfast and a very friendly and helpful host!
7.0 Good
Pros: Castle House is conveniently located only 10 minutes away from the ferry terminal. It's an old house and certainly breathes a vintage charm. We and our dog were warmly welcomed quite late in the evening, and were served a very generous, freshly prepared breakfast early the next morning by the owner.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast was good.
Cons: Reprimanded for not informing her we had a dog. Door to room I had to duck and enter sideways. Room was only fit for a limbo dancing contortionist. It may well conform to all legal requirements but I would only store unwanted items in it. And I had to pay for it!! Absolutely Awful !!

Pros: Wonderful characterful building and room. Great breakfast. And especially, a very hospitable and kind landlady!
Cons: Nothing at all!
6.3 Good
Pros: Beds comfortable....hotel next door..eateries 100m away... supermarket 200m.
Cons: Arrived to be told no breakfast included as we booked it ages ago and got such a good rate .. after discussion told us room is worth $$$.. then told we would be gone before breaky was available anyway...offered sandwiches later but unsure if we had to pay for those so declined... very narrow, steep stairs to negotiate with luggage and a very tiny bathroom.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hostess was lovely! Room was comfortable and had all the amenities you could ask for.
Cons: The temperature of the water wasn't great, it was difficult to get a suitable temperature to bathe in. Other than that the hotel was lovely.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Close to town and castle, easy to walk everywhere. Amazing breakfast, especially the omelettes... so much food for our family. The host was very friendly and helpful with information about local restaurants and activities. Room suitable for a family... everything we needed.
7.4 Good
Pros: Hubert House is a lovely property centrally located in Dover. We had a beautiful room with a nice large bathroom. It was nice and quiet at night.
Cons: The owner/host of Hubert House was rather rude and impatient. We had traveled more than 30 hours without much sleep and did not appreciate being scolded for being 15 minutes late for a continental breakfast.
6.0 Good
Pros: Excellent location. Very close to facilities
Cons: The owner did not make us feel welcome at all. We had called and requested for an early check in which was agreed upon. When we got to the door we were left waiting outside for 30 minutes or more. Finally after number of phone calls the lady opened the door , unapologetic. She wasn’t very welcoming and also made us feel that she was doing us a favour , after paying nearly £130 for one room. She seems disgruntled and wasn’t willing to accommodate or even make our stay pleasant or worthwhile. Resisted and said no to every small request we made. So yes this place is in a great location but it is run by an unfriendly person.

Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was comfortable and clean, the shower was ok.
Cons: Service from night staff was not great. We arrived late after a pretty wild ferry ride and staff got angry at us because we opened a door that was supposed to be locked, but wasn't. The entire checkin was themed by the employee who was irritated at us because of the door. Bathroom was fairly clean but the shower had a lot of chalk in it.
