Horrible experience with staff people in the counter; i didn’t get the info about International licence on time, but i get i’m responsable to find out what’s needed to drive in Italy, the thing is they were disrespectful and didn’t show any interest and give me good info or any solutions; also i write two mails and call them to say i was going to be late, and they said it was ok, but then change 95 euros for the late show up; never again with Europcar!Reviewed 19 Jul 2026

First of all, our rental agreement said we needed to pick up the car in terminal one. So we travelled from terminal two to terminal one to pick up the car. And then we had to stand in the lineup for three hours! To pick up the car. To only be told that our car was at terminal two, so to prevent having to go all the way back to firm terminal two, we rented a more expensive car to get on our way. We will never be renting from them again.Reviewed 17 Jul 2026

Wanted to charge an additional $250 per day insurance or they would not give me the car. Do not rent from the Ecuador airport, it’s a scam.Reviewed 17 Jul 2026

After waiting for almost a hour, they refused to rent me a car. They said that in order to rent. I needed an international license. Haven’t had one of those in 30 years. Claimed it was some law as of Jan 2026. I proceeded to Hertz and within 15 min I was on my way with no reservation!Reviewed 11 Jul 2026

Europcar wanted another $1000 to rent the car after I had already paid for the reservation. This is a trend at the airport in Ecuador. You can rent a car just outside the airport that does not try to scam you for an extra $250 per day in insurance. Europcar would not give me the car unless I paid more. I wasted an hour of my time but eventually rented the same car elsewhere and without being forced to pay for insurance that I didn’t want or need.Reviewed 10 Jul 2026

You guys tried to scam me, essentially doubling the amount charged for the SAME vehicle I reserved!! Europcar and Expedia are in some kind of conspiracy here!Reviewed 8 Jul 2026

Staff at pick up location were great - efficient, friendly, and helpful. Heated steering wheel and seats were appreciated.Reviewed 7 Jul 2026

Dropoff was easy. Pickup was not. It took forever. And the car broke down twice. We believe it may have overheated, but not entirely sure. Each time I called roadside assitance (that was prepaid) they were not helpful. Hit the SOS button on the car and that was slightly better. Was able to limp the car back to Rome but this was not a fun experience whatsoever.Reviewed 5 Jul 2026

This car company forced me to purchase their car insurance that was 2 or almost 3 times the amount of the total rental. They don’t accept I purchase via the website or credit card insurance.Reviewed 4 Jul 2026

The cars were good in terms of models, but not maintained properly and not clean enough. First we were given a car with problematic tyres, which was visible and we changed it for another car. The second car had also had problems with the tyres, which eventually led to a punctured tyre during our trip. Despite the full insurance coverage that we paid for, the assistance we got following this event was poor. It took 2 hours for Europcar to arrange the picking up of their car as a priority without any attempt to arrange changing or repairing the tyre, which would have allowed us to continue our trip, and left us on the spot of the incident to wait for a taxi for another 1 hour in extremely hot weather conditions. I would not recommend this company given the said circumstances.Reviewed 2 Jul 2026
