Cons: The hotel is on a charming narrow street, which can be a little challenging for a tourist driver to drive up to. By driving 100 yards through an intersection, however, you can solve this by going into one of two parking garages. I know that’s not much of a criticism, but I felt the need to put something in the criticism box.

Cons: While most staff were friendly, there were a couple of instances where we felt not the most welcomed, for instance when coming in for breakfast, and checking out. We appreciate that it was busy, but we felt a bit in the way. The table we were placed at on one of the mornings was the worst in the room, placed next to the buffet and the kitchen, which meant that there were people constantly walking past our table.

Rooms were comfortable but ours was pretty compact--more space would have been great. L'Occitane toiletries added a touch of luxury that was much appreciated. Staff and service were hugely improved from our last stay--much more smiley and welcoming!--and the bar food was a great deal better.

Pros: Amazing room, contacted by email a week before my stay to upgrade for £10 per night which we did. Well equipped room, clean and modern. Bed was so comfy I’m guessing a memory foam bed. Food is amazing we had breakfast and dinner, the choice, quality and presentation some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. Staff were always friendly from check in, bar staff, spa staff etc couldn’t fault them at all nothing was too much trouble. Had a hot stone massage which was so relaxing, again spa staff were friendly. We enjoyed the pool. We liked the close proximity to the city centre but despite this it still felt like a relaxing retreat. We’ll definitely be back again.

Cons: The breakfast system has changed which means that though you no longer have a long wait for food, things do run out of the breakfast buffet and were not always swiftly replaced. Having said that, the food was very good, and the system worked better with lots of people coming down for breakfast. Our room was comfortable, but very small for the price--the bed virtually filled all the space!

The receptionist refunded 20% of my charge when I informed them of this but I have received no reply to the feedback I sent subsequently.

Cons: For paying 189 pounds for just one night I was expecting something special. I was so very disappointed. The cups in our room were dirty, the fridge in our room was dirty. Was told that something was included in our room as shown in one of the photos, yet when ringing up reception I was rudely told I had to come downstairs and pay for a dental kit. Even though as it states its offered for privileged guests. If I have to pay as normal then it's for every guest surely, plus I would have even paid for it but would of at least wanted it delivered to the room. But clearly that was too much of an ask. The TV in the room had no signal so nothing worked. The heat was ridiculous. For the heat we had a fan that looked very old and it was a very noisy, kept is up all night. The room honestly felt like the same as a travelodge, which is ok but I wish I had paid for a travelodge at a much much cheaper price and at least would get a room that was clean, cool, TV working and much better service. I wanted to complain as we were leaving but the woman behind the desk was talking to someone else who was checking out for a long time and at this point I was furious and really keen to leave first thing in the morning. Such a shame that I'm 189 pounds down and had the worst experience. There is so much more I could of done with that money.

Pros: The bed was amazing very big and comfy! Wonderful views over the Cathedral and the food in the restaurant was really special. Great location for shopping too.
Cons: No on-site parking but good rates at near by car park. No proper seating area in room when included in booking description. Room would benefit from fresh coat of paint but good size and clean. Function on Saturday night was very loud in our room but did stop promptly at 12.

Cons: Re. Room 113 - The sink is just not usable. The bowl is too small and the shelf defeats any attempt at access.

Pros: The room and view were lovely. The food was excellent. City was very close but not intrusive - no general city noise or traffic.
Cons: While the wooden floors looked very nice they are noisy and there was the sound of footfalls from the room above.

Cons: I had a very noisy neighbourh who was talking very loudly until around 2am. I accept that I didn't tell the staff at the time nor did I tell them in the morning (I think I was bribed by the lovely surroundings)

Cons: This hotel is very dated. My room has wallpaper off the wall in parts and the toilet was obviously an addition to the room and had an unpleasant odour. I definitely won’t stay here again

Cons: A bit loud when I was trying to get to sleep (not sure if inside or outside hotel) but quieted down. Temperature was ok in spring but room might get hot in summer (small window that does not open far).

Cons: Room very dated and loo/shower rather mouldy. Obviously dates from time "H&C in all rooms" was a big bonus - the shower and loo seemed to be located in a small cupboard.
