The staff were helpful. The breakfast is excellent The main bar was closed. The hotel is very shabby
relaxed atmosphere and a very good breakfast the rooms could do with an upgrade to the decor otherwise no complaint
excellent breakfast very basic accomodation, no shower, basic in room tv, with dubious wiring and insecure wall mount
Poor room, no kettle, no hot water during entire stay, situated opposite banging door for entire stay. Apparrently has een recently refurbished, unfortunately, service and facilities has got worse.
Unable to control temperature in room
the service was great and the breakfast excellent the newly refurbished room we stayed in could have been finished off a little better but it was more than adequate
All the staff have a great sense of humour .. It was located in the centre of Kettering which is what we wanted I felt that the rooms would benifit if the management stayed a night in them to find out what needed doing. l understand that it has only just been taken over so this may happen.
Enjoyed my stay and the staff are all well trained and looked after the guests to a high standard thankyou all very much
it was quiet and comfortable the was no pressure for the shower for a sufficent shower
Very quiet room. Bed comfortable. Excellent breakfast Some aspects of the refurbishment meant that parts of the room/bathroom were unfinished. However these are minor points and did not spoil our stay.
Very poor room lighting - difficult to read
Excellent room with good facilities. Evening meal and breakfast were first class. Will definitely use again when in the area.
no choice at breackfast there was tomato on my plate and i was never asked if there was anything we dont want on our breackfast. I could have been allergic to tomato and would rather it not be on my meal.
Nice quiet setting The newer part of the hotel lacks the lovely atmosphere of the older building. My room was at the end of an anonymous corridor and was rather chilly.
Food and service were excellent Room and bed too small
Convennient for where I wanted to go
location room very basic and comfort level does not compare to Travelodge or Premiertravelinn.
Comfortable room at a reasonable price. Whilst the breakfast food could have been improved, more time should be given for guests to eat cereal before the cooked breakfast arrives.
On my arrival the receptionist was very friendly and very kindly allowed me to book in earlier than normal. the room was clean and fresh. Nothing bad I can think of.
Even though the shell is still def a Travel Lodge and a bit tired in places if the theme of the rooms were just one style would look a little less confused.
Value for money. OK for business people on budget, as too close to highway. All services straight-forward, no hassle. Breakfast in restaurant next door not acceptable, expenive and bad.
Helpful staff and friendly attitude, simple but functional room and accessories. Luckily I had a print out of my reservation as the manageress had no record of us, which may be the reason that the room we were given was not fresh and the bed linen was stained and dirty.
Everything was satisfactory and the restaurant next door was excellent.
Friendliness/helpfulness of staff. smell!, leaking toilet.
Early check in was really good.
clean, comfotable, good location and good breakfast and value for money.
The rooms (we booked 2) were lovely. The staff were very friendly with good advice about the local area and the breakfast was great and plentiful. The area was lovely and it was so peaceful and quiet you didn't feel like others were staying. The pub nearby was nice as well.
My friend and i enjoyed our stay at the hotel - it was clean and warm and the barn conversion added an extra special element to our stay. It definately served our purpose and we will be staying here again later in December 2010. The home cooked breakfast in the morning was great too and set us both up for the day. Thank you!
Excellent value, very nice room and good breakfast. None
A warm, clean room. Excelent breakfast. Polite staff/owners. Internet had failed on the night I stayed. Mobile phone coverage is bad. (Neither of these were the fault of the hotel)
The rooms were so lovely. Also on arrival we were made so welcome and informed of all facilities.
A fantastic hotel in a very quiet location. Could not find any faults
Clean modern facilities in good order The heating struggled to cope on what was admittedly the coldest night of the year, particularly the unheated en-suite and corridors.
Excellent value for money
Friendly and good service by young staff Both rooms, although very nice and clean were very small with the door opening onto the car park area(not private). The kitchen extract fan / smells were discharging onto the front of the annex accomodation. No presence of owner / manager to meet/ greet.
One of the best value hotels I have stayed in, a lovely place There were none
A real gem. Clean, comfortable, contempory, quiet rooms. Excellent food in a lovely pub. Easy to find, plenty of parking. None.
Nice atmosphere good staff and ideal for Market Harbour A litre expensive £65 plus £9 for breakfast is hotel prices
The rrom was spotless and well furnished, the food and breakfast were excellent and I highly recommend the Full English!
Very friendly staff, kitchen was closed when I arrived but the waitress managed to concoct a very nice ham sandwich.
Food and service were excellent None
Well apointed modern room. Lovely food. Friendly & helpful staff The room was a bit small
The staff, service and breakfast were fantastic! We could hear the next room's shower from our room but this wouldn't put me off staying again.
It had everything we needed and the restaurant food was good in the evenings.
the food was excellent and good value for money, considering i thought the actual room rate was expensive
The teatment by the staff
Although the rooms are quite basic they met my business need. The food in the Resteraunt was excellent and the staff were very helpfull and customer focussed. Parking was a little tight upon my arrival which was late evening.
The position of the Hotel, and the food on the first night The lack of welcome and proffessional approach.
Staff were very friendly and helpful especially with providing details of Taxi Companies.
convenient location, plenty of parking, good size room
The food!!! You can not fault any of the food, spot on. Really good value for the money. Compliments to the chef! The bathrooms were nice, a good sized bath. Good veiw from our rooms looking over the mountains, Furniture in the conservatory/bar/lounge were execlent. Would definatley recommend this hotel to anyone from the Isle of Man!! Em.......Nope.
the bedroom was lovely - finished to quite a high standard!
The staff were very helpful. We didn't have much of a veiw in our state room, we reserved a table for dinner for 8.30 and didn't get seated till 9.15. Staff were very sorry, and we got a complimentry drink.
Great people. Excellent service. Walls were too thin and as there was a wedding on we didn't sleep much!
Swimming pool is great. Rooms are great. Okay - small point - tv remotes don't work that well
Very friendly relaxed atmosphere not just a number the rate is important for business travellers staying one or two nights
gym facilities dining expensive
Historical impressive building, in a countryside setting. Bedrooms had fantastic size bathrooms. Nice spa. Staff would benefit from some customer training in the bar and restaurant.
Beautiful building and setting Hotel was rather cold in the evening
Great staff, good food and excellent historical environemnt Rooms were a little small and water temperature was too cold
The staff were charming even though the Hall itself is a little worn around the edges. The food is terrible.
Uncomfortable bed - kept rolling into middle of bed
Everything was excellent from start to finish ! When I arrived there was no record of my booking (booked online). I had printed out my confirmation - quickly dealt with, staff apologetic, a room quickly found for me. Luckily they were not fully booked!
The Staff were efficient and friendly The toaster was faulty at breakfast but other than that I could not fault the service.
i didnt like the fact that i left my i phone charger in the room to discover house keeping staff have taken it!!!very annoyed
The room was very nice and ready to sleep straight away. There should be a microwave available for heating up of baby food etc..!!
Excellent hote, very new and staff very friendly. The rooms were more than adequate although the hotel was tricky to get too off the roundabout.
Check in was excellent... Active hotels hadn't sent booking through when we rang active hotels the person dealing with was useless. The receptionist at Holiday Inn was great she really put things right. Breakfast has improved now at holiday inn express with scambled egg and bacon the problem on three days the egg was gone the girl was very very slow to react and needed telling so there was a delay because she had to go and cook it!!! 4 times they ran out of spoons!! One of the drink despensers for the orange juice was giving out very weak water all week! And probably still is! An otherwise brilliant hotel spoiled by lack of attention to detail
We couldnt find any fault at all with either the hotel or the staff who were exellent which is why we booked your hotel at kettering Cannot find any bad points
Rooms very comfortable and spacious. Very quiet, no noise heard from the rooms next door. Breakfast was ok....could maybe have done with a little bit more choice; maybe more fruit or pastries. What we had was good though.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good value for money and delicious. An early check in was made available and there was a very welcoming feeling about the hotel in general My only criticism would be that there was no where to hang the shower as such. There was also no shower curtain.
The location (in town centre) Too noisy (external from street) - no double glazing plus too cold couldn't get heatin g to work
the staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Relative convenience of location. Friendliness of staff Currently undergoing refurbishment to bedrooms. However, both rooms booked were clean and tidy. Noise from bar/outside area.
The staff are good people- working hard and pleasant...it's just the 'set- up' of the place is wrong as a hotel. The layout of the place does not make for any 'quiet'..main rooms over the bar/disco etc.Our room was inadequate/nothing fitted in well...noisy window fittings and bed too soft etc etc.We left on am of 4 th day as dissatisfied greatly.also when there..no option for meal in evening.
Comfort of room
The room was very nice & clean No heating in the room & was -5 outside
Homely, friendly atmosphere with a great breakfast thrown in. Rather limited choice of television and a little noisy on Saturday night from band in bar
Covenient location in centre of Rothwell Drafty window (what a waste of energy). No control valve on radiator. Light over sink not working. No proper vat receipt - just a compliment slip: only got a vat no. After asking and a delay
the hotel was stylish and the rooms were very reasonable. i would happily stay here again the bathroom could do with updating but served its purpose
Excellent warm room, newly furbished and good food Na
The staff were not very helpful. We waited half an hour in the restaurant before we managed to catch one of the waitresses eye to serve us.
ideal for a short break and to explore surrounding area. Very good food. The village had no other facilities or other bars/hotels but fortunately we were able to eat in the hotel as the food was good and well priced.
Service and cleaness
Very good quality room, outstanding service from helpful anfd cheerful staff
Very clean, comfortable accommodation with helpful staff and excellent location for the Northern Lakes, will return.
Good food, friendly staff, nice lounge areas Heating totally inadequate in room. Tv not tethered to wall stand- very bad practice presenting a real danger of injury to guests.
Clean and tidy, helpful friendly staff. Family room ample for 4 of us, even with real cot which was beautifully made up in the room on our arrival. None
everything was very good, our mistake was we did not have a meal as we ate out before we arrived, the food looked very good when we went into the bar in the evening and we regretted not eating there.
Clean and tidy hotel, in a small village 2 miles or so from Workington. Food was of a good standard and portions were excellent. Cumbrain Grill breakfast was superb! No real ales available only keg beer.I Had to leave one night sooner than expected but was told that since I'd booked through Active Hotels , I had to pay for all 3 nights - disppointing reaction from staff who did not provide any assistance as to how this could be resolved so I had to pay.
The meal was very good
The staff were very friendly and helpful.. Having to climb the stairs which are narrow.
Every one friendly
Friendly receptionist Grubby, unhygeinic bathroom, poor decor, creaky floorboards, poor breakfast ingredients. Over-priced.
Budget class hotel. Room was wll stocked with facilities eg Tea, hair dryer, tv etc.Helpfull staff. Tired decorations but cheap.
Hotel staff good but had alarming screeching noise at 2 am. Understand noise was due to plumbing problem in room above. Manager phoned later to apologise and offer voucher for another stay.
The people were friendly and obliging. The stairs were narrow and awkward.
When I needed to get into the hotel after my night out the night porter was very promt.
Good friendly atmosphere. 'All you can eat' buffet breakfast. Good food/portions/choice at evening meal, although more good class pub food rather than gourmet. Two minutes from shops, so good location in this sense. A short drive to lake district amenities, and countryside. Slightly run down end of town, but close to centre. Other local pubs mean it's a bit noisy at times; probably not ideal hotel for children, as hotel bar is pub bar with Sky Sports on most of time. Lots of hotel clients are local contractors weekdays.
staff all very friendly and very attentive very noisy area. decor needed attention too many smoking areas
Bed was brilliant, tv Good and decent shower Needed cleaned, laods of dead flys on the window ledge
Accommodation was first class and the staff could not have been more helpful. There were no adequate disabled facilities
Very helpful staff - cook came in at 7:00 am on Sunday morning to prepare our breakfast as we needed to leave early. Excellent evening meal. None
everything was perfect all the staff made us feel very welcome nothing
The room was well-lit and comfortably furnished. This was a particular joy to my wife who is partially sighted. On arrival we discovered that booking.com had not informed the hotel of our booking. This was an embarassment to the management and to us.
It was very close to the people we were visiting and walking distance to the shops , very good We came back at quarter to eleven on Tuesday night and the bar was all closed up so we couldn't get a drink . very sad .
Reasonably comfortable bed. Friendly staff/owners accomodated my requirement for special diet and preference to eat in my room. Noisy road-sie location of room. Noise form bar in evening
We had a family room (Rm 14) and was surprised at how large and spacious our room was. Our 2 young children had plenty of room to play their toys. There was a good selection for breakfast and the lady made some porridge and restocked the strawberries several times for our children.
The Hotel has a good bar which is well used by the public
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and room No.7 Had a 4-poster bed in it! The evening meal was very filling.
