No car after an 11 hour flight delay. Finally offered an older model Tesla which wouldn't hold a charge, trunk and door locks didn't work. Drop off was a nightmare. We were told we could drop off after hours in Newark. Key wouldn't fit so we left the car and had to FedEx the key to them despite the Hertz agent telling us to return the key in Manhattan (our destination,). No adjustment in price for delay or lack of car. Now they're claiming major damage to the car and trying to charge us extra. It has been the worst rental experience in 45 years of renting cars. Can't reach a person on the phone either. Their "customer service" is completely AI driven. I will NEVER rent from Hertz again.Reviewed 28 Jul 2026

Absolutely horrible. Multiple reservations made and canceled claiming cars were available when they actually weren't. Rude staff. Anonymous after-hours text canceled my reservation on short notice, then refused to refund my pre-paid amount. Had to spend several hours on phone grttinga refund. Will NEVER rent from them again. The reservation was made, I paid the money, I arrived early before my pick up time and they had NO CAR. This was a horrible experience and I was stuck with no car. I still have not received my refund from Hertz! I called them and they required me to submit a form which I did, and I’m still waiting. I will never do this again.Reviewed 27 Jul 2026

My experience was not good. Despite calling the afternoon of my pickup date to confirm that my car would be held and ready for pickup, when I arrived in Sarasota, there was not even an agent at the desk. Then when I finally was able to work with an agent, they did not have the car I rented. They had the option of a huge truck or a tiny car. This was not conducive to the activities of our trip, but I didn’t have the option of waiting or coming back a different day. Thankfully at least I got a car as there were over 10 people behind me and there were only 2 cars left to rent so other people didn’t even get a car. But because I got a huge truck the expense of gas was outrageous and parking was impossible.Reviewed 24 Jul 2026
