The car itself was beautiful, but the service was disappointing from the beginning. In Winnipeg, the representative refused to do a walk-around inspection of the vehicle with me but insisted that I sign the inspection form before taking the car. I was not allowed to take the vehicle unless I signed it, even though I hadn’t had a chance to verify its condition. When returning the vehicle in Toronto at the Front Street parkade, I had trouble with the security gate that allows access to the Hertz return lot. I spoke in person with a Hertz attendant and asked for help, making it clear I was trying to return the car on time. By the time a building lot attendant finally arrived to assist, it was 4:03 PM—just three minutes past my 4:00 PM return time—and I was charged a $15 late fee. They keep trying to sneak in the fuel charge. Their pick-up inspection says one thing, their final report says another, they're nickel and diming their customers, and it's fraud. Most people wouldn't even notice, which they're counting on. But they're phone support even has a specific "fuel charge" redirection... that tells you everything you need to know.Reviewed 22 Jan 2025
