10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The hosts here were absolutely wonderful. They picked us up from airport for no extra charge, were very accommodating to our odd travel times, and they even left personal bathrobes, house slippers, and pool shoes for us to use. The heated pool was AMAZING and we wish we could have spent more time here. I cannot recommend the breakfast option with your stay enough. Not only is it very worth it, but the hosts' cooking abilities were fantastic. Yuki makes fresh bread, and Andi's espresso skills are on-point. Best experience we had in all of Iceland, and we did A LOT of stuff, so I feel like that's saying quite a bit.
Cons: Nothing. We couldn't recommend this guesthouse enough. Absolutely a highlight of our 9 days in Iceland.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This guesthouse is a couple of minutes from the airport. The owners are friendly, helpful, and accessible. The house has three separate bedrooms with a shared hallway bath. The room we were in is a spacious one bedroom with a private bath. It has a full kitchen and a stocked for breakfast. It is in a quiet neighborhood, but within one block of all of the small-town offerings. The guesthouse is under 45 minutes from Reykjavic and about 20 minutes from the blue Lagoon.
Cons: It is all good

Pros: super clean, super comfortable. Breakfast was simple but delicious, and the host and hostess were both helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.
Cons: googlemaps got us on to the right street but told us to turn onto it in the wrong direction. We eventually tracked it down
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location for getting to the airport. The gentleman running it was very nice. Had a spacious bathroom and comfortable bed. Didn't get a chance to experience the breakfast, unfortunately.
Cons: It was all very good. Typical of all Europe, the only bed covering was a duvet, which was too warm for me traveling in the summer, but that's to be expected.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the large shower and good internet.

7.7 Good
Pros: Our room was large, clean, and quiet. Not elegant or romantic but spartan economical functional. Bed was cozy.
Cons: 2nd floor walk up. Besides that, it was great. Maybe there is an elevator we didn't see but we weren't feeling that lazy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The space was perfect for our last night in Iceland. We hit some bumps in the road with previous lodging on our trip, which is to be expected; however, it was quite relieving to walk into Bergas Guesthouse and be greeted with a friendly face and such attention to detail. The check-in process was the smoothest we experienced, our room was prepared and ready for us to walk in and fall into very comfortable beds to rest. We booked here because it was a short drive to the Blue Lagoon and minutes from the airport and we would be visiting both in the following 24 hour period. Perfect location, great price, lovely owners. Wish we could have stayed a little longer to explore the surrounding area and waterfront. I will definitely keep Bergas Guesthouse in mind for future trips.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners are very personable and make for a magical experience. The hotel room was delightfully comfortable. We lived it here and will return.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel hosts were wonderful people, warm and welcoming. They made a great dinner suggestion for us and even phoned in the reservation, which was so nice after our long travel day. The beds were comfy and rooms very clean. We couldn't have been happier.

All the rooms had plenty of outlets, bathrooms spacious and lovely fixtures! Plenty of help yourself breakfast choices! Great WiFi It was our last night of 9 and probably the most fun of all the lodgings.....way beyond expectations and so close to the airport!
Cons: Nothing

9.1 Excellent
Pros: - Ideal for early/late flights - Early/Late Airport Pickup & dropoff provided - Bkfst started 3:30am
Cons: Location, while close to airport, is not ideal for much else.
2.0 Mediocre
Cons: I was charged $93 as a single traveler. I had made the reservation thinking the price corresponded to the comfort level. It did not. This is a glorified hostel on the outskirts of town. It is in an old industrial type building away from the center of town. Very noisy with smelly bathrooms. Only 3 bathrooms for quite a lot of rooms... When I brought up for the date that I was there the price came up for $63. I brought this to the attention of the owner. I was being charged the price for a family room. He said that it was too bad, I had booked at that price. He was quite unfriendly and defensive about the situation. Bottom line: I was overcharged and told 'too bad', it was my fault for booking it at that rate. I travel through Iceland twice a year and have stayed in many guesthouses in Keflevic. I have had very good experiences with all except this one.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Good rate, easy accessibility from highway, near food options and near airport
Cons: Much farther from Reykjavik than I expected, good jumping-off site for airport but not for the rest of the country...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful, clean, spacious, unique

Start Keflavík Airport - Keflavik - Building
8.7 Excellent (999 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The Start Keflavík Airport provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The hotel is located close to many of Keflavik's attractions including Studio 16 and Whale Watching Reykjanes. At the end of a busy day, travelers can unwind and relax in the hotel or go out and enjoy the city. When it comes to Keflavik hotels, the Start Keflavík Airport is highly regarded for its excellent facilities. This hotel is one of the most popular choices in Keflavik.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Start hostel was clean, comfortable, rooms were generous and beds very comfortable. The breakfast was varied and delicious, and they start it at 4:30 to accommodate early flights. I booked this last minute to accommodate a 10 hour layover, and it was a great choice. The staff checked me in late (just after midnight) arranged my cab and provided a yummy breakfast. I would consider staying here if I did a layover in Iceland in the future.
Cons: It was a little further out than I liked - cabs cost almost as much as the hostel bed. But Iceland is expensive and this is minor. It is also expensive for a hostel bed. But it was toward the low end of the options, so this may just be a complaint that Iceland is expensive.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Beds were comfortable, room and bathroom were clean. Free tea/coffee 24/7 was a big perk. Very close to airport, stable wi-fi and free parking.
Cons: It was difficult to find, my GPS didn't register the hostel address as a real place so I had to use a map to find it.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely people who ran the hotel - they made us very comfortable and were very helpful with information.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The facility was well kept and clean.
Cons: The breakfast selection.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was clean, big, super friendly and helpful at 12 am, and really close to the airport. Perfect for late flights!

Some of the places to dine in the local area include Ungo, Café Petite, and Kina Panda. Popular fast food locations, such as KFC and Dominos are nearby, as well. It will also be a relatively short drive to Reykjavik and all of the features and attractions that the city can offer.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: This is a nice hotel located 2 minutes from the airport. It is very convenient when taking a late or early flight. Beds were comfortable and place was very clean. Front desk staff was very kind and accommodating. There was an elevator for heavy suitcases (yes!), first hotel to have it since arriving in Iceland and staying in 7 different hotels. I was very happy with this hotel.
Cons: Only thing missing was tea/coffee and kettle in room, this would have been a nice touch.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was close to the airport terminal which was great at 3AM. I will stay at this hotel again.
Cons: I called GetA Room 3 times before I received an answer to my question. The answer came two days after my hotel stay, TOO LATE!!! I will never use this service again.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Clean room, clean hotel, good breakfast, great staff
Cons: Bed was poor for US standards, but ok for Europe standards. Lacking extra pillows, comforters.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I stayed overnight on a connection, which was not my planned route so I was in a terrible mood about the whole thing. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. I loved that it was right by the Keflavik terminal (they say five minutes but I walked there with all my bags in two and a half). I love hard floors in hotel rooms because it just seems so much more hygienic-- you can see how clean (or unclean!) the floors are and my room was immaculate when I arrived. The bathroom is very basic and the beds (I had two singles in my room) don't look like much but... THE BEDS AND BEDDING ARE PHENOMENAL. I slept so soundly and so comfortably I almost didn't want to leave. The comforters were just the right weight, the pillows were perfect. Seriously. After bed, I packed up and got ready, then crawled back in bed until right before checkout. The included breakfast goes until ten o'clock and had a lot of variety and was very filling. Checkout is at noon but they don't seem to mind you hanging out in their lobby for a few hours after. I didn't have a need for a car, but it's also by all of the car rental places-- I would suggest this hotel if your plan is to see a lot of things outside of Reykjavik while you're staying over (parking was also free I believe).
Cons: The wifi wasn't very cooperative and I had trouble connecting multiple times (they're individual routers rather than an integrated system your device roams on) but it eventually worked and was fast enough. I would agree with other posters that when you come in on a flight at midnight, it's confusing to figure out where it exactly is in relation to the exit-- a sign in the airport would be nice, but people are friendly enough if you ask.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Good value for the amount I paid. Location was within walking distance of the airport and rental car return.
Cons: No complaints.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: I showed up at midnight with my infant daughter. They helped take my bags to my room. They offered up a cot for her and immediately made it up with a nice clean sheet and baby duvet. There was a highchair in the dining area for her as well.
Cons: If I could have taken the pushchair from the airport to the hotel that would have been super helpful. I didn't ask though. Maybe you can?
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Location: 5 to 10 minute walk from Keflavik airport. Excellent Staff: I flew overnight and didn't account for the date change. Staff was very accommodating, changing my dates and even letting me check in early. Before we realized the error, they were happy to hold my luggage. Food: The breakfast buffet was just ok, but I enjoyed the chicken stir-fry at dinner. A seamless experience to land in the morning, store luggage, go touring for a day, then check an early flight out the next day.
Cons: Getting there: there is no side walk, so you must take a detour around the parking lot or walk more directly on the grass. This was more my/ reykjavik excursions fault: I asked the ticket woman from flybuss about the bus into the city, and she said every 10 minutes, I ended up taking my time at the hotel and missed the flybus. The next one would go 2 hrs later, missing my tour. I had to take a taxi. If you do drop things at the hotel, you should go back to the airport quickly as the last bus to the city tends to leave within 40 minutes of landing.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great place to stay if you have a quick overnight stop in Iceland before flying out the next day. I loved that it was walking distance from the airport and that breakfast was included. The room itself was nice and very clean. While it didn't have the amenities of the Hilton Hotel (where we had previously stayed), I personally felt that the room was of the same (wonderful) quality.
Cons: The hotel can be a little confusing to find in the dark and when you are tired - wish there was a sign somewhere in the airport. I also found the price to be a bit high, but you are paying for the convenience (and everything in Iceland tends to be expensive).

5.7 Okay
Pros: Decent breakfast and one-way airport ride were helpful.
Cons: Extremely small private room and very loud with others staying nearby and in common area. No staff onsite when attempting to check in either and no note. Had to wait an hour for someone to give the key to my room. Fairly expensive for what is provided, even for Iceland.

Pros: Excellent facilities inside room, super comfortable beds. Great location close to Keflavik airport.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great to get to the airport and downtown. But, we had a car.
Cons: Not a big deal.. but, bathroom shower door doesn't stop water and when you shower the entire bathroom floor gets wet. Didn't get a chance to tell the duty manager.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I only stayed there for 6 hours, on a layover overnight. They run an hourly shuttle from the airport to the bed and breakfast, and it leaves 20 minutes after the hour. Make sure to confirm and book your place on it, as it only has 12 spots and a cab from the airport is a bit expensive. There is also a bus that leaves from the bed and breakfast on the hour every hour to the airport. Everyone was super kind and efficient. Breakfast starts at 4am, and was some nice travel food, you cannot take any with you, but that is probably because people were abusing it, and stocking up on groceries.
Cons: We missed the shuttle by 5 minutes....but that is hardly their fault.
7.4 Good
Pros: Proximity to airport, shuttle service, and breakfast with extended hours
Cons: Lack of choice of nearby restaurants
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was close to the airport and we had a private bathroom.
Cons: For US standards it was a little pricey.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very close and convenient to KEF, with a free shuttle that picked me up when I called and dropped off at convenient time for departure. Price was good. Room was huge, bed was quite comfortable. Reviews I read spoke of noise, but I heard not a sound.
Cons: Drain in sink did not drain at all despite not having stopper in it.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean and well-appointed. I woke up late for my flight and the person working the desk got someone to cover for a minute and immediately drove me to the airport himself.
Cons: I asked how to get to a museum in Njardvik and they didn't have a map of the area available, nor any maps of Asbru. The person at reception printed a Google map for me. The museum had a very nice map and accompanying guidebook, so I don't really know why the hotel didn't.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The value for this hotel and distance from airport is fantastic. The staff were super friendly and did everything to ensure our stay was comfortable.
Cons: Location to airport is airport is great. However surrounding area does not have much else.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Right by the airport with the convenient shuttle to pick you up and drop you off. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was nice and big and very clean. Beds comfortable with nice big comforters. The best was the breakfast, lots of choice (I loved the thin pancakes) and fresh fruit. They even had computers to use in the lounge area and room to play cards or games.
Cons: Can't think of anything!

7.4 Good

Cons: Hotel close to airport but slightly isolated from everything els , no restaurant .
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, not many other guests. Hot tub + sauna are nice, especially without other guests around.
Cons: Views from room where average, nothing special. No hot breakfast (besides toast).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was so nice, very clean and incredible staff that was very willing to help. They had a nice breakfast spread in the mornings, and kept the place spotless. Definitely recommend!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was nice, very close to sadcars
10.0 Excellent
Cons: No free shuttle to/from airport...adds to cost of stay due to taxi fares.
6.8 Good
Pros: The hotel cost is very reasonable given the facilities. Room was clean and large enough, bed comfortable, and the room had useful amenities such as desk, comfortable chair, toilet and shower. I took advantage of the sauna and jacuzzi, which were nice but nothing exceptional. They also have fairly nice exercise equipment. However, it really is located in the middle of nowhere with nothing else to do in the immediate facility (except go for a walk, but not what I consider a scenic view). it seemed quite costly to take a taxi between the airport and hotel. Cost of the two taxi rides was about the same as the price of the hotel. Cheaper than staying at Hotel Smari at the KEF airport, but I was surprised by the transportation costs.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel location to blue lagoon and KEF airport were great. was clean, friendly staff, breakfast was descent.
Cons: The noise in the hotel carried - and wasn't good for a light sleeper to get a good night sleep.

6.8 Good
Pros: Nice staff, has a bar, well stocked vending machines.
Cons: Blankets should be mandatory, an extra charge is crazy! Luckily a staff member gave me one for free when I protested
9.4 Excellent
Pros: cheap clean room, quiet. snacks and drinks available at reasonable price (for iceland) shuttle to airport available.. if you need to leave early in the morning this is a good location!! 10 min drive away. Although I did see a family dorm I would recommend this place for adults only, there is nothing at the hotel for kids here.
Cons: having bathrooms on a different floor than my dorm room being far away from the nearest local bus stop and not knowing where it was expense of taxi/shuttle to airport from close by... this is NOT AT the airport but some distance away, you cannot walk to it. Most tour buses only leave form Reykjavik so you have to pay extra to get there. ext time I will stay in Reykjavik to avoid extra cost of travel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to airport. Close to town, you need a car or transportation. They have Airport shuttle.
Cons: No lift . At times adjoins room occupants can be noisy
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The price was very cheap and location was very close to airport. The place was very unique and had a lot of history. Small room but that was okay as we were staying one night. I would recommend staying more than a day or two though.
Cons: Staff wasn’t the friendliest but were okay.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Close to airport and price. We wanted to rest before driving out to Iceland.
Cons: It looks like a college dorm.

Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel really lets you see what hospitality and comfort should be like. Our flight left at 6:40am and the hotel provides a complimentary 'pre' breakfast at 4am for early travelers. There was breads, small meats, cereal, yogurt, fruit, assorted cream cheese spreads, coffee/tea, juices. Regular breakfast starts at 8am. Just this alone was enough to win me over. Add to that the rooms were very clean, the showers had great pressure and the beds were super comfy. The only issue I had was that they give us two twin comforters instead of one big one... Yup, that was it. Behind the hotel is the sea.

Cons: I have no complaints.

4.0 Okay
Pros: Receptionist was endearing and very helpful.Bar was homely.
Cons: We arrived to the restaurant exactly 2mins after 9:30 (restaurant closing time) on a saturday night, and we were not served dinner despite the fact that at least 3 other tables were still having their starters (and the fact that the hostess herself told us that no other place would be available for dinner in Keflavyk). This is not the experience I would expect from such a hotel.
4.8 Okay

Cons: Relatively high price for the services offered, reception staff was rather blunt
4.4 Okay
Pros: Close to airport.
4.4 Okay
Pros: Very convenient for the airport.
Cons: Hote; a bit "tired". Food very average and dull. Last time I stayed in a similar priced hotel in Reykjavik which was in the town centre and had great food. I should have done the same this time obviously.
