Location, the price I stay here 3 or 4 times a month and there are always niggling complaints; 2 out of my last 3 early morning call requests didn't happen. Heating not turned on in my room until 3rd request; no iron in the ironing room (stolen!) but no offer to pop next door to Debenhams to get one. Location and price, plus a decent breakfast, save the day
Hotel room was tiny, also walls and carpet were dirty. funny smell in hallsway and lift. Bar staff were very rude.
location very good and very cheap and the staff are very helpful. The breakfast is very good. outdated furniture's and the room we stayed not was facing closed wall and very dark
The hot bath/shower The facilities are old and out of date. It is a Victorian type of hotel but the maintenance to this standard has not been effected at all. The odour and smells coming out of the rooms are horrible. There is a a need to change the beddings and sheets.
the only thing good about this hotel was the guy that night on the reception he was shaking from the stress ,but we got dealy with ,and then the day after we were un happy again as my room had bee re booked to some one esle and i was sent to a yob hostel to put in polite where i had to share a lift with a skin head gross
great location for shopping etc and near station no staff about at breakfast no tables cleared to sit at when one did appear they still did not seem on top of the job. lunchtime in bar was short staffed one person behind bar doing everything not enough seats.
Although it is located in the centre of Birmingham the hotelrooms were dirty and uncomfortable (old beds, bathroom below standards) Hotel needs compleet renovation
Excellent location - closed to all of the city's attractions, bars, clubs and shops No car park
Quite noisy location
Room was dark and dirty, matted ball of hair on window pane( which faced another room, no natural light) awful room lighting, i asked for more lights and they did nothing to help.shower had no hot water and water poured out from a crack all over the bathroom floor and the t.v did not work unless you fiddled with the exposed wires!! the only reason i stay in this hotel is the location to workplace. This hotel needs a very huge renovation.
I have nothing good to say about the experience except that the restaurant staff were friendly. It took 300 minutes of queuing to get a key and a further three ascents / further quesuing to get into the room as the magnetic strips did not work. Arrived early to be greeted simply with "You can't check in here" - no welcome or greeting. the most appalling service I have ever experienced in a city centre hotel, and for the price entirely unacceptable. Surly reception staff, overwhelmed by long queues and too few computers. Poor rooms small, dark, - wall paper peeling; paint rubbed off in bathroom
The availability of an iron and ironing board in my room. When I went down to breakfast I was seated and then ignored for about 25 minutes. I had to ask one of the staff if I could order as I had a tight schedule.
The room was comfortable. The check-in experience was very amateur for a hotel of your calibre. Also I found that the carpet in the room was quite stained.
The comfort of the rooms and big bathrooms along with the atmosphere in the bar/restaurant area. gorgeous breakfasts with very good attention to detail with what was on offer. The shower was a bit low in both pressure and height and the room a bit cool.
This is the second time here and we had another wonderful time! We especially love the position as its very close to the canal network and various bars and restaurants - plus very near to the City Centre. Lovely atmosphere too as, although its an incredibly comfortable hotel it also has a 'warm and inviting' feel. Your staff are 'second to none' - well done! Hope this assists - thanks.
massage chairs in the spa were a big plus
Close to Birmingham New Street rail station
The service in the bar was appalling and the hotel is starting to look shabby and neglected.
Stylish decor the very poor service!!! both reception and in the restaurant!!!
room was lovely Checking out was long winded as only one receptionist on, we were checking out at 07.15am (not a busy time!) to be at an appt for 07.30 but receptionist was back & forward as couldn't find a receipt for customer in front of us and never once asked for someone to serve,so we were late for our appt by few minutes....poor
Clean comfortable and staff are very helpful and accommodating.
Clean, friendly staff, very good location, free wifi, 5 minute walk from city center Room is very small,Not much room for luggage
Although the room was on the small side it was very comfortable and the room was very clean and just right for an overnight stay. The TV in the room was a bit to big and made your eyes go funny after a while!!
Excellent condition of room, great shower, huge plasma screen at the end of the bed! No windows in the room!!
compact room, comfy bed
the television it was hard to heat up the room, the shower wets up the whole floor when you go to the toilet
hotel was clean and good price great loctation loved the rooms very cosy
good location for birminghambusiness trip the acoustics from the corridors are poor.
Very unique hotel, inside in the style of a ship. Very clean, comfy, modern and very friendly staff, great central location for everything.
bed was very comfortable, very conveniant for centre of birmingham.Liked the free papers and fruit at the desk. room was too warm, thought there should be more milk and tea in the room.Bathroom door was hard to close.didnt like that there was nowhere to hang clothes.
It was very close to the Birmingham Symphony Hall and I was able to walk to and from the venue I was attending. I'm elderly and disabled, and it was very convenient for me. I liked the hotel although I'm not absolutely comfortable with the concept of no windows and relying on air conditioning for ventilation. This might be simply a factor of age, it was my first experience of this type of accommodation. I'd stay there again if I was going to Symphony Hall again.
Location, internet, breakfest, the building is nice, the reception with stairs are nice, the staff was corteous. Room is too small for the price, no windows, smells dump.
The bar area is nice The rooms are jn need of refurbishment - there was a big blackmark above the heater and a crack in the wall near the window!
Room was clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and attentive to needs. The bath although small was a nice suprise. Plenty of hot water. Close to the city
facilities and location gave good value Evening meals could be a lot better. No proper lounge area
All the staff were very helpful and appeared happy to deal with customers /requests nothing
rooms are basic but very clean, good location on canel side about 30min walk to centre
Good price and location. Very helpful receptionist
15 minutes walk from the Centre of Birmigham, clean and comfortable Breakfast far too expensive £8.50 for English breakfast to expensive
Comfortable atomsphere. I booked a smoking room but did not get one.
Close to Birmingham Center Dirty Environment surrounding Hotel Poor Quality Bed Linen Tired decor and TV at an unwatchable height Room was no smoking but had been smoked in (extensive burn marks in bathroom) Laundry next door to room and noisy all night insufficient drinks materials in room
Central heating system
Location Reception staff were unreceptive. Although two rooms were booked, these had to be paid for individually. Morning newspapers were non-existant.
Jurys have really up the mark in this Hotel,We have stayed before and it gets better every year.
the pizza. screaming kids running about in the corridor.
Intercom was not working. U have to go down anytime you need water
double beds in thetwin rooms and being allowed to have a smoking room
Convenient location. Ideal for a night out in the centre of Birmingham. Rooms were pretty basic, but sound enough for what we needed them for.
Nice sized room. I didn't enjoy struggling to hear the TV over the noise of the lift. I didn't sleep much because the noise of the lift woke me up quite a lot of the time throughout the night. We were on the 6th floor and the noise from the street was still quite loud.
Good location Noise pollution outside woke us up early hours. Car park was not free Bed uncomfortable
hotel room was lovely - good value for money and the breakfast was good.
Great location, staff were great, Noisy neighbours
Proximaty to centre
Location despite being far from the railway station What we were charged had nothing to do with both your prices on the internet and nothing to do with the numbers of breakfasts we had. we had to intervene to both. this is the first time we are facing this after hundreds of hotels we visited. we had our room left for the hole day as we woke up one day
My visit was good and enjoyed my stay as the location is near the clubs and restaurants and the German Market The fact that the cleaners woke me up three times between 8.30am and 9.30am by entereing my room while I was sleeping
Nice Windows and views to the city non
central and staff very friendly , and rooms very good in every way. no
Location was great. Staff in general were well mannered. Up to 18 floors. Has a gym, but didn't get to see it. Well sized rooms also. Shoe machines on the floors along with ice. I have to say I love the Raddison blu brand but this will now be the 1st of two lower than average reviews I'll be writing. First of all I felt lucky and a little excited to get a good deal of £88 per night (with breakfast) as apposed to the £150-£170 most sites were advertising (including Raddison blu on their club Carlson membership site). It started with the arrival with my colleague, a small lobby for the size of the hotel. No one there at first but they came out seconds later so it wasn't too much of a problem. We explained to the front desk that I had booked the rooms for two of us, but rather than looking it was assumed it would be under separate names. Could have been my fault so I'll let that go. We then both checked in, only to find that both rooms were under my name. This was done quite fast, which was good and we were sent on our way with a brief explanation about the breakfast in the morning. Missed the offers that were on hand and not valid at check-in so no upsell. Had they asked we would have taken one of the offers. I did show my club Carlson card and asked if there was anyway of upgrading as to which she said "I'm afraid not as the hotel is fully booked". Which was understandable (remember this part!). I was getting myself together at the reception desk, at which she thanked me. She then thanked me again and gave me a look to say do that somewhere else! I looked around and saw a queue behind me, which I was surprised as there was no one there when we arrived. I apologised when I left the desk but left with a slightly sour taste in my mouth. I then went to my room which smelt of cigarettes. I wasn't sure whether someone was taking a chance on smoking in their room or it was a stench in the actual room. The carpet had stains that seemed well embedded (my colleagues room looked as though blood had been engraved into the carpet with stains too!), the tv had very poor reception (so that was the Brits out of the window). Bathroom was a good size and clean, so was the room in general. But lacked any homely or business feel.
The night porter, maintenance and Breakfast staff were polite and friendly and the breakfast was good. Reception on arrival were very miserable, mini bar was warm, room card kept cancelling. The hotel was fully booked with Christmas parties so some very loud brash people.
Location and the views from the room (stayed on the 15th floor). Cleanliness of the rooms (althought there was quite alot of dust under the luggage rack in the room) and the hotel in general, it is obviously well looked after. However no newspaper was delivered to my room as requested. Staff are not particularly efficient. At check in, we checked into 2 rooms, one at 1pm and the other at 10pm. Having told the receptionist that we had already checked into a room earlier on in the day she still proceeded to spend the next 5 minutes telling us about breakfast, spa facilities, the gym etc. which we had already heard when we checked into the first room. When we checked into the first room, the receptionsist could not find the booking, even though we tried on numerous occasions to give him our booking conformation with the booking number on it. At breakfast, had eated the rest of our breakfast and were still waiting for 2 fried eggs.
apart from the below mentioned the hotel was amazing and we would recomend it without hesitation to anyone. the front of house staff were very good and helpful. I work in customer service myself and it was nice for someone to 'go the extra mile' for me. we ordered a double room. when we got to the room it was a twin. i approached the recption and the helpful lady told me there were no other double rooms but house keeping would go up and push beds together and re make. when we got back after the night out it had not been done.i asked the same girl in the morning who apologised and compensated me which was a very nice gesture.
We enjoyed the view from our 6th floor room, it was above the traffic so it was very quiet, hotel quiet too even though it was busy, staff were very pleasant and polite. Chair in our room was very wobbley, asked for aioli (on the menu) with our chips but got tartare sauce (in the bar), would have appreciated more pillows.
Very modern hotel, stylish and very comfortable beds, superb views of the city from the room, and central to all attractions, perfect location for theatre goers
staff very helpful and friendly, hotel clean and nicely decorated, rooms very nice, good sizeed bathroom
i liked at how friendly the staff was
I was passed out drunk in my room after a somewhat heated exchange wit my partner. She for reasons only known to whatever deity you pretend to pray to elected to come over. This was an excellent choice assisted by the staff of the Radisson blu hotel. I have to use a key card to access my floor, its a layer of security that is utterly redundant.
Room was spacious and bed comfortable
We loved everything about it, the food, beer and service was excellent. the room was clean and the location is very good for the Birmingham NEC which was the reason why we stayed at The Old Mill. The pub has loads of character as well. We would definitely stay there again There was nothing that we didn't like about it
Staff were very helpful The food, to be avoided at all costs. My partner was served mashed potato that was still frozen.
Staff very friendly and nice bar/restaurant Noisy central heating system
very quiet and romantic hotel to stay at stairs going to the rooms were very squeaky late at night
friendliness of staff also beside river location shower facilities were "tired" and need refurbishing
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, big rooms. The room could have had a bit more lighting,
Size of room, location of hotel, very comfortable
Service and Comfort
Excellent service from all staff. Excellent food and restaurant facilities. Excellent ambience in bar and restaurant area. Spacious room layout. Free wifi and excellent car parking facilities. Felt safe as a single female guest. External light close to the window and only a thin blind meant that the room remained relatively light all night making it difficult to sleep. Pillows thin, hard and uncomfortable. Shower would not fully turn off and could be heard dripping all night - again making it difficult to sleep.
The location and setting of the hotel was superb. The room was very spacious and clean. The restaurant had a wonderful ambience and a good selection of food on the menu. Sitting outside, enjoying a drink, on the decking area by the river was very pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend the hotel to anybody looking for a quiet relaxing break.
The room was better than expected, very adequate for one night. The shower was terrific. Only one towel per person isn't enough. I like to wrap hand towel round my hair while I dry off with the other. (I was sharing a room with a colleague.) The aircon didn't work and the room was a bit hot. We could open the window but aircraft noise made this a poor choice. We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening and the service was very slow. The staff were pleasant though, and the food was very good.
ease of access to airport and shuttle , good location . comfortable rooms and very clean . reception staff very helpful
Very helpful staff Price and car parking
We were attending a concert at the LG Arena thus the location and ease of commute was perfect - Couldn't really fault the stay at all.
Very pleased with accommodation and friendliness of staff. Evening meal was also excellent. Details on the booking form regarding breakfast were very confusing; parking also confusing - we parked across the road and were told by hotel staff that as long as we stayed for over 24 hours we would get the parking charge reduced from £18.50 to £13.50 once we had our parking ticket stamped by the hotel. At the ncp offices they tried to charge us £37 as we had gone over the 24 hours which we understood from the hotel staff was permitted. Eventually ncp agreed to re-issue the ticket and charge us the agreed £13.50 but they were quick to point out that the error was with the Ibis which I agree with and would suggest that you make it very clear to customers that the charge is for a '24' hour period, if that is the case, and not as long as you stay over '24' hours you will only pay £13.50
Clean, quiet room good breakfast No hairdryer
that the location is very good for the airport. I have stayed at the hotel before and the food is good, but on my first night there was only 1 chef working so the restaurant was closed and the only choice was bar food and that was burgers or fish with chips, and on the second night it was impossible to order as the hotel was full and people were waiting a long time for their food in the end I walked over to the airport and eat there.
The convenient location. the small en-suite facilities and the nosie from the corridor.
Food 24 hours Would have preferred a lighter breakfast ie not pay the full amount when not eating all available
Proximity to exhibtion centre and airport Soap dispenser in shower was empty. Food was ok but not great. Could not make irish coffee. Room was comfortable if basic and expensive for what it was.
I myself did not stay, I had booked for one of my bosses, but he came back strongly recommending the hotel for future use. Liked everything
over-pretentious chef. excellent quality, but too nouvel cuisine
pleasent staff and very posh but comfortable hotel
Location The plug in the bath in the room got stuck and was unable to drain bath. After reporting this to reception it took far too long for anyone to arrive to fix. This they couldn't do so i had to take a shower in another spare room the following morning. Evening meal room service was poor - quality of food very disppointing and very expensive for what it was!. Overall there was very little feeling of any welcome from staff and politeness was not something they adhered to. Hardly any appology for inconveinec with room
Relaxing, Comfortable very well looked after, Very good food on both nights stayed. Hotel was fairly empty as booking covered the early part of the week
The location Limited menu
Friendly, warm and attentive staff without being intrusive. Qualityof food excellant
Excellent rooms and facilities. The restaurant was particularly good.
pleasant surroundings room smelt of strong disinfectant
Bed was gorgeous and the grounds & setting very smart, but relaxed not applicable
Meal was very good Thin walled rooms, noisy when there are a lot of people staying
quality of food in the restuarant
Very friendly welcome - in fact all staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. A very minor quibble is that the bar didn't open until 6.30. The TV was very small but otherwise, no negatives.
The friendliness of the staff
Nice breakfast and the hotel was clean The bed matress needed to be changed as we both kept rolling to the center of it over night. The bathroom was very clean but I found the tops of the bedroom furniture were dusty.
The location was perfect for the NEC The temperature of the hotel, the room was very hot even when we turned the radiator off in the bedroom, we could not regulate the bathroom radiator. It was a bit uncomfortable
Excellent food, helpful staff Rooms were tired, poorly maintained, and in need of a refurb.
Convenience of position Bed not comfortable
Superb room and facilities, would recommend the restaurant.
Reception and dining room staff were friendly and helpful. This is 2nd time I have stayed as it's convenient for the NEC. It's quiet, easy access to M42, Birmingham airport. I shall stay again.
Close to NEC and straightforward journey. Staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Food in restaurant and bar expensive
Modern, clean, friendly
Very friendly staff, comfortable, great blackout blinds, very quiet rooms, despite weddings going on. Excellent gym and spa facilities. Good bus service into Birmingham. Drinks and food a bit expensive, went to the nearby Harvester for a nightcap on our second night.
It was good to find a hotel with a decent size sauna, swimming pool, steam room and a jacquzzi, all of which worked and were clean. The changing room were very very good for this type of hotel The breakfast experience was a little poor on a quiet Saturday as there was only one staff member on and a lot of things had run out, cooked breakfast, crockery, glasses for juice. Although on a busy Sunday things were much better and almost opposite.
I booked stating that I wanted two rooms adjoining and that I was disabled and requested a ground floor if no lift. When we arrived we were down two flights of stairs round two long corridors before reaching our room. These rooms were not adjoining. I complained and was offered a room on ground floor but my other room was still on the other floor. I had telephoned the night before and confirmed my booking also to confirm adjoining rooms and was assured this would happen. We eventually got adjoining rooms on the following night. The staff were very helpfull but it would have been better without the hassel. The dining room again was poorly staffed. Only one waitress for all of the area. We were served once and then saw no one, we had to go looking for service just for a glass of water. The staff who were on were polite and helpfull. I probaly would use them again for ease of place for visiting Crufts, but would insist on talking to the manager in advance to make sure my requirements were dealt with correctly. My frinds were from the USA and I do not think they would recommend this hotel although often stay in Holiday Inns over there.
The room was very clean. The check in & check out process was extremely swift. The bar was poorly stocked. The bar menu was not very inspiring.
the welcome was very friendly, use of pool very good, nice and warm in cold weather.
Really cheap rooms. A nice place to stay. I would return. Only downside was that were not given an option of a smoking/non smoking room and although I usually don't mind being around smoke the smoking room we were given was very stale. After returning to the room it always took ten minutes to get used to the smell of smoke. I know that cant really be helped too much but a simple air freshener in the room would do the job. Rooms could do with a lick of paint.
Friendliness of the staff & spa facilities
Fitness/gym facilities and pool. All staff very friendly and helpful
Restaurant staff very friendly and attentive.
The booking hadn't been confirmed so luckily another room was available.
warm friendly staff. Value for money. very goood The view overlooked the car park
the staff were very helpful and friendly
Reception and restaurant staff were superb. The hotel design is very good and spacious. The car parking arrangements were poor.
The location was perfect Was saturday night and till 1am there was a music from a local disco club that you can hear till inside in your room. A bad noise.
a clean and tidy hotel, pleasant staff being questioned about breakfast payment, even thou we had pre paid the night before, plus car parking was not clear, and cost more than the advertised £10.00 a day
The stuff was very polite and effective to their duties. The bathroom wasn't immaculately clean.
The warm welcoming and great customer service the room, just about everything. N/A
Nothing stands out - a city centre hotel like any other. Not sepcifically.
Comfortable and well-equipped room. Ample and healthy breakfast. Easy to find. Easy parking.
The room was lovely and light and had a lot of facilities Staff were all lovely and helpful too Small refund made for staff entering my room while I was still in bed! No wifi which was advertised and a reason why I book hotels Tv reception terrible, most channels pixelated so badly you could not watch them Male staff walked in while I was in bed (on my own) apologised and left. Was a shock to me and he should have known I hadn't checked out.
Comfortable bed. Nice breakfast, very healthy.
Breakfast in our room no
friendly atmosphere no
Great location for Midlands business trips, helpful staff. Its for the independant guest and perfectly suits our needs.
Primarily its location. It was very quiet at night thereby ensuring a good night's sleep. The Limes is very dated and needs a bit of a refurb. Our room was far from clean.
Fresh milk provided Website didn't make it clear that you needed to prebook continental breakfast. Hospitality basket had not been replenished from previous occupant so had to seek out someone for coffee etc. Was provided with cereal and milk for no charge as basket had not been replenished.Shower rather grimy.
Peace and quiet of rural location Lack of staff and open reception on arrival.
The Limes provided us with a relaxed stay, a perfect room and a gorgeous breakfast. We will be definately staying there again.
very quiet - good access to the west midlands - friendly staff Ironically, no access to a hot breakfast
the late bar and the variety of the restaurents the cost of the restaurent and the fact that a service charge was put on the bill automatically.....even though it was a self service meal??
Everything was very nice, the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was only about 10 min walk from the nec. The meals were a bit to expensive.
Our room was booked from 3pm, but there was no twin room ready when we checked in at 4pm, yet they wouldnt allow us a late checkout either, that was unreasonable. Also, food was a v basic bar menu, or a la carte expensive fine dining or the middle option was a buffet which costs £33 per head and was a total rip off. A glass of wine ws £7.95. Do not recommend eating here. Although breakfast was included in our rate, we couldnt pay the £3.50 tray service to have it delivered to our room, we would also have to pay an additional £20 for the breakfast!! I think the website should inform you of this and I think it is unfair.
swimming pool the room was a bit shabby -bathroom the guy next door smoked hanging out side the window and there were tab ends all over the flat roof outside It was not as nice as the other 2 stays
Room service was excellent!
All staff I came into contact with, the checking- in staff and particularly the concierge staff were excellent, pleasant and extremely helpful. Obviously, as it is near the NEC it was quite crowded and noisy in parts/
Location - Near NEC and Birmingham Airport Rooms tiny with single bed up against wall. No Aircon and advised not to open windows as the Mosquitos will come in. Restaurant expensive for extremely average food.
We booked the hotel because hotel had a multi-million pound update. Unfortunately we were put in one of old rooms not refurbished. The hotel accommodated us when we explained we booked the hotel on-line because of the refurbishment and we were moved to a more suitable room
the menu choice and the food and service in the restaurant was excellent, the rooms were very comfortable as well. When I was arriving to find the hotel (however it was in the darkness) I felt that there could be better directional signage for the hotel on the surrounding roads.
leisure facilities, close to nec
Heating did not work very good, only cold air and it was -6 outside.
I like the surrounding grounds and it has a quintessential appeal about its artichect and surround. the mattress was little too firm for personal taste but I slept well nontheless
generally good no issues
Great value for money, especially if you are a golfer.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Didn't like the small bath towels.
The whole experience was amazing felt totally relaxed
The spacious and comfortable superior conservatory room with lovely complimentary Cadbury treats. The buffet breakfast was tasty with a decent range to choose from. Prompt and friendly service from all staff throughout.
Food, Service, staff, quality of facilities Table clothe at breakfast was not clean and the shower head in our bathroom directed the water too close tot eh taps.
We only stayed one night, but found the staff and the atmosphere excellent. The carvery meal in the restaurant there was excellent and is thoroughly recommended.
friendly helpful staff cleanliness peaceful environment pleasant surroundings No
the staff were very helpful and the place was beautiful
Lobby bar, reception service. No service at breakfast, cold plates, had to ask twice for tea, then had to get own cups, knifed forks ect... Off other tables, in view of waiters who did or said nothing. Room smelt damp and looked a little dated.
We were close to the NEC (attending Crufts) Hotel easy to find, we were made welcome - no charge for our dog, (unlike most hotels/travel lodges). Breakfast delicious and service excellent! Had slight problem with leak on shower attachment (got soaked!) and bath taps a bit strange.
The relaxed atmosphere and friendliness of staff.
Good price, in a good location, it had very comfortable beds and pillows, nice fire in the bar. Buffet breakfast not great, the food was served too cold. And the temperature in the bar was too cold also.
No draught beer
Excellent value for money on the price we paid. Plenty of available car parking space. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location to Birmingham and walking distance to Touchwood shopping centre. Good breakfast and leisure centre. Its was cold. Very cold in the corridors and room was cold, as the heating system was not working. Vector heaters had already been given out, but extra blankets were delivered to our room very promptly. Only heating in the room was the bathrooms towel rail.
Food okay Reception - bloody slow. Bar - cold and slow servioce.
helpfull staff, good food, easy parking no
Good value at £59 but not if if it was dearer Standards have slipped in last 3 years Breakfast not so good No biscuits in rooms Had the nerve to charge residents to park there!
