The Dorchester

The Dorchester Hotel is one of London’s historic landmarks, which began in 1792 as the Earl of Dorchester’s private home. Over the years, it’s been used as an American Embassy and World War I hospital. You’ll be in the same building where Dwight Eisenhower planned the Normandy Invasion during World War II, and where Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip attended an event in 1948. The hotel’s archivist is able to give you a guided tour detailing all the history.

The Dorchester – Dorchester Collection allows two small dogs per guest. Your furry friend will receive a dog bed, bowl and special treats. Dogs aren’t allowed in the bars, restaurants, spa or fitness centre, but the hotel can provide a pet sitter to look after your animal in your room while you’re out and about.

The Dorchester offers family suites, some with interconnected rooms, where you and your loved ones can enjoy a memorable stay together. Your children will receive their own cosy comforts, such as mini bathrobes and slippers, plus freshly baked cookies and a surprise gift pack upon arrival. There are also family games and films available. Whenever you wish to enjoy the hotel facilities alone, there’s a professional babysitter on call to look after your children.

At The Dorchester Spa, you can be pampered with aromatherapy massages, facials and body treatments or enjoy the beauty and grooming options. There’s a spa facility especially for men, which provides bespoke treatments tailored to their skin. The spa also gives you the option of topping off your experience with a typical English cup of tea and scones.

The hotel has a number of restaurants and bars where you can savour your meals and enjoy a sip. One of the restaurants, boasting three Michelin stars, is managed by celebrated French chef Alain Ducasse and has a special cocooned area called Table Lumière for private dining. China Tang serves authentic Cantonese fare in a room designed as 1930s Shanghai, while The Dorchester Rooftop, The Dorchester Terrace and The Spring Garden (with its giant globes) allow for al fresco dining.

If you’re at The Dorchester – Dorchester Collection for business, you’ll be able to choose between private executive lounges and meeting rooms in which to conduct your sessions. The hotel will provide everything you need to have a successful meeting, including fast and reliable internet, audiovisual equipment, refreshments and a team of technicians on standby.

The Dorchester – Dorchester Collection provides the service of butlers to help guests settle in at the hotel or to assist them when leaving. Each butler is highly trained – even to royal household standards – to ensure your arrival and departure runs smoothly and efficiently. The butler will not only take care of your luggage but will also assist with any problems you may encounter in your room.
