The location was great and the facade facing the sea was reminicent of past times and we liked that We thought that there was not enough service staff - we waited a long time to get a drink on the terrace in the garden - some of the seating was not clean. The next day we sat on the terrace but left as we had waited a long time for service. The breakfast was not displayed nicely - and the bread etc. basket was not filled up once while we took breakfast.
Excellent rooms, great location
Excellent location, nice gardens and outdoor area. Food was fine and restaurant staff helpful. Lift inadequate for size of hotel. No English speaking channels on TV. The only important downside to our hotel stay was the indifferent attitude of the female reception staff, who in our opinion are poorly trained.
the location was superb
Very good standard of room - extremely pleasant staff and wonderful location. Not really - it lived up to expectations
wonderful location on the sea front, stunning looking hotel, large room and bathroom, good dining room for breakfast
Staff changed the room without the veranda to with the veranda.
the location of the hotel.
Very pleasant room with sea view. Friendly staff
Visiting areas along the coast and going up into the hills It would have been nice to have a small lounge to sit in. Also lift was extremely small!
Kind hotel stuff (they waited for almost 2h for our late check-in), good location, good wifi. Lack of air conditioning was slightly annoying.
cleanliness rather noisy street
Owner is a very welcoming person Breakfast not included
Very good place to stay although a little worn at the edges. No air con and car park was a public car park, not the hotel's.
the bed and the pillow Some small shower issues but not to bothers me so much
Parking was only 7.50 and only 2 blocks away. What was updated, the calender????
Close to center Reception working hours, but that's general in France
Very good position. Not so easy to find a place where to park, but it's ok.
Centrally located. Affordable. Noise. Meager breakfast. Reception often closed.
I enjoyed the location with the beautiful garden. The room was a good size and it was quiet. Most of the other guests seemed to belong to a holiday club for pensioners. Some noise from activities with the holiday club.Felt a bit like being in an old peoples' home.
Rooms were clean, staff were friendly, but not all spoke much English. Hotel staffs understanding of their internet offering was confused. They started by subscribing us to the local service, which never worked, but the hotel has its own wireless net (reception/lounge area only) and that was okay. Many of the staff did not speak much English, but luckily on the day we arrived the girly working reception spoke excellent English.. an okay hotel for a weeken break.
Nothing exluding the garden room is very old and need repair, very expensive, room ii very small
Elective activities offered; good atmosphere in the foyers and at breakfast on the terrace; good standard of breakfast; charming local French customs displayed in the hotel and park Not really; the bar served wine in cognqac glasses. Overall we thought it was an authentic, unique and wonderful experience. Our names should have been accurately recorded. My husband is Mr. Jeffrey Hallebone and I am Professor Erica Hallebone. Never mind!
Overall appearance; location; staff; facilities Could do ith international tv Channels
It had a car park that was only €7 for the night. Not bad so close to Monte Carlo Bar. Bedroom. Wifi. Breakfast. Not good!
Location excellent, staff friendly.Approach to hotel and exterior promising but inside it was shabby. Our room was awful, paper peeling off ceiling, badly scuffed walls. TV cable running around door frame to socket. Found it was a hotel for groups of elderly French people not really for independant travellers. Very disappointed. See above , very shabby and an unwelcoming bedroom.
Family of four. Room pleasant and clean but in need of redecoration. Gardens in front of the hotel beautiful. Staff pleasant. Not much English spoken, but we didn't ask for them too. Very hard to find even with SatNav. My son happened to spot the name as we drove past the unsignposted lane the 3rd or 4th time round. Also the hotel bar closed even though my husband and I were still in there.
Perfect peace and quiet. No music in the ceiling!! Lack of tissues in bedroom, smallness of bathroom
View from the balcony and a nice garden. Possibility for a garage. Not a three star hotel. Rooms and furniture from a one star hotel. Allmost all of the staff did not speak any English.
Great stay, lovely large room, very clean and fantastic staff. Raymond on the front desk was very helpful, would stay again Not a thing
the hotel was new and clean. we got a spacious suite at the 7th floor. only week point tiles on the floor. this is too cold to walk bare feet. I suppose the other rooms have moquette.
I enjoyed the balcony, proximity to the waterfront, and helpful staff.
We liked the contemporary design, very clean and modern.
Excellent location: easy, short walk to seafront, shops etc. Compact room size ok, nice bathroom with proper windows and good shower. Excellent breakfast buffet included in the price, including freshly squeezed juice.Parking available for a fee, but great to be able to lock car off the street.Lovely team at reception, charming and friendly: they spoke to us in French, which was great as I speak French...so often one is almost ignored and has to accept their version of English as they think it is better than my French!Notice that facilities in foyer for families, including games, toys and modern gadgets. Also at b'fast ther was child-sized crockery etc. A shelf positioned very close to the bedroom door, with a sharp corner at head height was a potential head-slicer...really dangerous and very poor design idea. This could hurt anyone, young or old and would result in blood !
the shower was broken before our arrival and we should keep with the hand it to clean us... quite incredible. Half of lights were broken and no one changed them during our stay
The yellow and white contemporary design bedroom! Loved the self service breakfast and out of hours tea and coffee machine. Road traffic was a bit noisy.
The hotel was right across from them beach and right on the pedestrian downtown mall. Plenty of restaurants close by. Even though it was right in the middle of things it was quiet at night. We went to sleep at night listening to the sea. The parking situation is horrible.I had to circle around five times to even find a spot to unload. Very Frustrating. There was an underground public parking fairly close by, and they do give a discount for hotel guests.
Hotel and Reception staff was very helpful and friendly. Shower curtain was not functional, unfortunately I set the bathroom under water.
convenience of location lack of signs to find it, hard to park in basement
Friendly helpful staff, good location. Wi-fi internet not accessible when in room, accessible only around lobby area.
Although on busy street, rooms are quiet We booked a non smoking room, were placed in one so full of soke that was foggy. Could move to another one which was without balcony (had paid for it) and had to move baby's bed ourselves!
Extremely friendly, relaxed and helpful staff, good location, nice silent rooms. Plus a cool retro decoration in bathroom :-) Nothing to criticize, everything was perfect. I don't understand why some people on this website complain about irrelevant things.
We were able to make adjoining rooms into one suite that was very good for a family. Very central location - close to beach and in the middle of town. Underground garage parking is very tight and requires a great deal of manoeuvring. Showers are a bit basic and in need of updating.
The young receptionst on duty during one of the days, she was helpful. Its location is not particularly good, sraff not really helpful, it has no facility whatsoever - no pool, no breakfast room, poor breakfast... We booked two rooms, we were given two small rooms on the lowest floor, although we were charged for the largest rooms. Both had horrible windows. After repeat requests, we were given two the next day with broken aircon when it was mid August in a heat wave; another request led to a slightly better room with no balcony, the other room had no blind so the morning burning sun would be in your face early on; hot water only during 7-9 am! All the roomsand came with ugly old faded frayed brown smelly blankets and covers. This is more a 2-star standard, so I don't understand how they got 3-star?!
The breakfast was served in the room on time The decor was bizarre - plain concrete, unpainted walls in the bathroom and toilet. The bathroom and shower were filthy. Towels old and not at all soft. Bedding clean but old and not very comfortable. Low budget hotel. Carpets also not clean and looked like they had not been hovered. Glad I was only there for one night.
quiet, nice helpfull staff, close to the beach, good price Wifi not working
Location excellent wifi cost @ 10 euros/per hour too high
Its location in Nice and the fact that it has a garage. Very minimal breakfast. Completely dark when one comes out of the lift.
Well located excellent 2 star hotel
Very helpful staff Late arrival - we were unable to get access until other guests already staying helped us - unable to find the key to the room - another guest found it under the desk instead of in the tray on top.The breakfast was quite poor for the money.
Arrived late in the evening and no one there to book me in and had to sleep on a colleague's floor. The beds were camp beds and not proper beds.
value for money given local prices. reasonable basic facilities. Very central for restaurants etc. Nice reception area Breakfast - coffee and croissants not good. Would not recommend breakfast. Not hygenic with member of staff coughing over the food.
Location Did not have hot water for one night and one day.
Room was minimal, breakfast was extra and rationed (you get what they give you on a plate -a pastry and a roll and that's it), car park could not accept our VW Golf Estate car as it would not fit in lift so had to park outside on the road. Meant paying the meter every 4 hours, inconvenient.
Very flexible, check-in even when we arrived 2 hours after official check-in. Check-in was confusing because we booked two rooms, but they only prepared one. After showing them the printed booking documents, they prepared two rooms.
Proximity to the centre of town, the sea and restaurants, plus Museum. Friendly staff, and reasonable price. The bed was not particularly comfortable.
The location was perfect for my needs - near the center of town and also near to my friends' home. The staff were very kind and helpful. The bed was not too comfortable and the breakfast rather plain. It was often difficult to locate anyone for service. There was apparently a bell to ring someone but I never saw it.
The hotel really cares for its clients and everyone leels very special there! We had just two-night say there, I wish we would stay longer! restorant
Good location, comfortable bed, clean and modern bathroom, room gave a good first impression with a pleasant balcony.
When we arrived, the room we'd been allocated had 2 single beds - I had requested a double so returned to reception to request a room change. Unfortunately this caused a little confusion but having persisted, the receptionist found a suitable room which was great. The hotel's location is excellent - in the middle of town with lots of restaurants to choose from. The harbour and beach are just a few minutes walk away, as is the railway station. The on-site (underground) car park was a bonus but tricky to negotiate if you have a big car. Breakfast was included in our room rate and we were impressed at the selection available - fruits, yoghurt, different breads and pastries etc. We have already booked our next stay at the hotel. On our last morning, there were 2 coachloads of visitors who had arrived the evening before for a one night stay. The breakfast buffet was far too busy and the staff couldn't keep up with the frenzied raids on the bread/patisseries.
central location, friendly staff, original decoration internet connexion did not work properly; the restaurant room is dark and not very inviting
Hotel was great. Staff were great. location great I was booked as a priveleged room and do not believe that I received a priveledged room. We in fact believe that we got a superior room
handy to travel to Monaco on the train line
the kindness of the staff
The bed linen had a very bad musty smell, which was very offputting.
The breakfast was good: there were different kinds of breads and croissants, eggs, fruit salad, yogurts and cerials...I was positively surprised as I was waiting quite poor breakfast based on the others' reviews. The room for two was very comfortable and big enough. Hotel staff was very friendly and they could speak english as well. There weren't many other visitors in the hotel, because we were staying there outside the tourist season, I suppose. So it was very peacefull. At nights noises from outside were little disturbing, but not too much.
very nice hotel staff excellent. nice balcony which was a plus.
location and the room were very nice.
Close to beach, train station. Not too away from city centre. Breakfast was really poor, not according to it's price (8eur for jam, small baguette, croisant and butter)
The room and the balcony was very good. The breaskfast could be included in the diary price.
It may be called Hotel Moderne, but modern it's not. It is a bit retro, but clean and comfortable. Room is airconditioned. There are double sliding doors and shutters to block out the noise, heat and light. Don't know why others complain it is noisy. Location is also good. It would be nice if breakfast is included for the same price. But this hotel is still better than other hotels we looked at. Our room had a toilet cistern which was a little noisy.
It was only to sleep in as went to monico every day.BUT Clean and friendley. No
location, friendly staff too much traffic noise - not the hotel's fault. However, I would choose a quieter hotel next time.
Room was well cleaned and fresh linen provided each day. Unable to get a hot drink during the day or evening. Beds too close together. Hotel needs 'updating'.
convenience no shower in room, only tub
Close to the station The family room is too small for a family. There is literally not enough floor space for 4 bags, and we ended up putting the furnature out in the corridor to make space. The room was clean, but the rest of the hotel smells.
Location of the hotel is good - very close to the central station and not far from the seaside. Bathroom is ok compairing to the whole room. WiFi is free and fast. Room's interior is poor.
Friendly staff and location of hotel
Traditional French style
Excellent location, friendly staff WIFI router was in closed cabinet and overheated occassionally
Great accomodation for quite low price,
it was easy to get to monaco, nice and i stayed so i could watch the tour de france. no parking [6 euros a day extra] fridge was locked.
nice personal small rooms
Hotel Claridge's is very clean and good for a night rest. Hotel staff are very friendly, though can't speak very good english. Value for money, easy to find if you are driving. Parking at site was full, but we manage to find a lot on the opposite street of the hotel. Complimentary use of WIFI. Jus to take note that you need to pay extra euro 5.90 for the breakfast.
None of the air conditioning units in any of the three rooms that we booked worked. Only the fans. It was hot and noisy as it was on the main road and we had to have the windows open otherwise we would have suffocated. Very small rooms with no space for suitcases.
Difficult to think about what to write here.......they let me park my motorbike on the pavement outside the hotel. This hotel room consisted of a bed, a sink and an open wooden "wardrobe". Very cheap and nasty to be frank. There was no soap or towel, and no window to the outside, making it very dark during the day. very poor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Worst hotel on my trip.
staff very friendly and helpfull , room whilst in general poor state of repair was clean and functional Appartment whilst would have been good value for 6 people or family on budget is just an old shop with 3 double beds, no door to bathroom and large shop window onto street quite sureal...
Nothing I didn`t like anything
room with a balcony and a sink. The moment we started speaking English, lady at the reception changed her attitude and became impolite. There was no possibility of charging a credit card, so we had to pay in cash... at least according to her. Breakfast consisted of one croissant, cup of coffee and... well, that's it (6E per person added to the price of the hotel). We reserved a parking place in front of the hotel, but when we arrived it was taken by some other car. There was no iron and the personnel was not helpful at all. Bathroom was on a different floor than our room, so we had to walk the stairs and pass other guests when going back to the room.
The 'Budget Price' of the accommodation, the welcome, the cleanliness and the really good, for me, dinner. To be able to park outside the front door, in a reserved space, but ... It's street address raised an early question re noise. Both road traffic and the even louder and more invasive noise of trains, proved disturbing from before 0525hrs. to after midnight! The price of the very basic continental breakfast was too high.
The hotel location was brilliant, just a couple of minutes walk to the promenade and so close to all bars, restaurants and shops. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant which was delicious and excellent value. The room was just a little too small although the bed was very comfortable. The shower needed attention.
Fantastic location extremely close to the beach and very centrally located. Parking lot just around the corner. Perfect backpacker or low demand traveller hotel. Small basic room had a shower and was worth it for the price - 45 euro. Wouldn't want to pay too much more than that for the room, however. Our little daughter was only 3 months old when we stayed there, so it was no problem having her sleep in her little basket. Having kids who needed their own bed would have been quite a problem in the tiny room. Reception closes from 13-17.30 which is not exactly convenient - fortunately we arrive just before 17, so we had a drink at the cafe 3 steps away, so it wasn't too bad. Very low tech place, though they did claim to have free Internet access...consider the bakery just around the corner which is as good for breakfast as the hotel.
Value of Money, excellent location
Friendly staff, very clean and close to beach and shopping areas Lack of air conditioning - it was very hot at night
do not stay here cleaninliness
There should be quite a discussion to convince me that this hotel should stay open; namely, for considerable price you get an old room where you barely fit in. The TV (size of a modern day children's toys) worked, but did not present any programme whatsoever. When we tried to contact the recepcionist about that, we've found the reception closed, although we had checked in only few minutes earlier. Far too pricey for a simple sleep over.
50 metres from beach and from city parking. Bar and restaurant. Cold water always available No electricity when I arrived. 36 C day, tiny window, overheated room, finally got tiny fan working. Room did not cool down in the 2 days I was there.
It was near the sea. The smell of the restaurant, the hotel staff didn't want to help us when we couldn't make a connection with the Internet, the bathroom wasn't clean: there were soms hairs of the guests before us,...
Extremely friendly and helpful staff, gave a homely feel to the stay. Excellent value for a location just outside Monte Carlo. Free wifi.
location Inaccessabilty of management, damp replacement towels, ?lounge on streetlevel -- we didn't find it!
