This place was a nightmare unfortunately. For $300 a night you would think it would be clean atleast. We arrived to find our ocean view room was a neck craning side view of the ocean but mostly a view of the street and the next door building. On the balcony someone was smoking above us (it’s supposed to be a non smoking hotel), and ash rained down on us making the balcony unusable anyway. The bathroom has hairs on the vanity and the walls had either dirt or blood…we felt uncomfortable and mostly just went to sleep hoping the sheets were atleast not full of bugs. Terrible experience and the most I’ve ever paid for a single night. We will not be back, and probably won’t be back to Myrtle either given the experience.

Cons: The value for money was a little lacking- I've stayed at nicer places for less. I didn't care for the layout of the rooms (it felt awkward) and floors felt greasy when I walked on them barefoot. Nothing was a deal breaker and there wasn't anything terrible either. It just wasn't someplace that was amazing for the money- it was on par with a budget hotel.

Pros: The stay was lovely & the room had a lovely view. Direct beach access & plenty of pools/hot tubs. Staff was great. We loved the evening manager. He knew who we were at arrival & was very helpful with restaurant recommendations.
Cons: There wasn’t an adults only area or signage discouraging little ones from any of the hot tubs which is a little frustrated for a couple on vacation when it’s almost 10pm (pool closes at 11). It’s not a close walk to anything you want to visit so be prepared to drive.

Pros: Breakers Resort failed to bill Hotels.com for our stay which was purchased two months prior. Breakers had billed us again for the stay and I contacted Hotels.com the following day after checkout to investigate the billing problem. They contacted Breakers and resolved the billing issue. Breakers later contacted me and apologized for the billing issue and explained they were crediting our card account and waived the standard resort fee. The prompt response was much appreciated! Enjoyed our stay and will recommend Breakers Resort

Pros: Our housekeeper was great with our 3 year old daughter. I believe her name was Azela. The pool area was nice. And the food from the restaurant we pretty decent.
Cons: Be careful which building you’re in. There are multiple towers and most of them are old and VERY dated. Also our Resort view was of the side of another building and the street. Which wouldn’t have been so bad, but unbeknownst to us it was bike week. For half of our stay all we heard was blaring explicit rap music, cursing and the whole hotel smelled like pot. During this time bike week was going on the room next to us was blaring their own rap music till 4am. So while most of my complaints aren’t about the hotel. I do wish they would check the halls at night during these events so that their guests can get some sleep

Pros: Location off beach was wonderful! We traveled off-season, so traffic on Ocean Blvd wasn't an issue, but it would be during peak season. Parking is located in structure across the street and that was OK (prefer connected, but it's on the ocean front, so...).
Cons: The Breakers ain't the same Breakers! Beware there are two (or more) towers -- North and South. You check into the North tower and it's all clean and wonderful looking, but if you're staying in South, it has more of a Motel 6 feel to it. Old, outdated. The three things that keep it alive are: Oceanfront views, price and housekeeping staff. Our phone didn't work, and (oddly) we didn't have a shower curtain, but they got right on it. Also, the beds are immediately there when you open the door, so be aware while dressing. Parking during check-in can be congested. Staff was harried -- took incoming phone calls before people standing in line (my pet peeve), but our check-in guy was cool and accommodating.

Cons: When booking this room, I did a great deal of research. I read reviews, I scanned hundreds of pictures, studied accommodations and compared them to prices. This hotel had beautiful pictures and some pretty good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. The first thing we saw (and smelled) upon arrival was giant dumpsters of trash and men were shoveling it out of the building into the dumpsters. We checked in just to use the pools because our room wouldn't be ready for a couple of hours. We had to go find parking across the street before we could swim. The hotel was very crowded so we walked around for awhile looking for a place to leave our things. Before we could find a chair, a security guard asked us where our arm bands were. We hadn't been given any armbands so we had to lug all of our stuff (including our eight month old daughter) back to the registration office to get them. The resort boasts it's number of pools but each of them was warmer than some baths I have taken. We eventually ended up at an indoor pool where a lady was sitting right next to us smoking. After a couple of cours our room was ready. I was excited because it was advertised as ocean-front. When we got into the room, our balcony overlooked the parking lot. There was a mini fridge which we had planned on keeping our sandwich meat and our daughters food in, but it didn't work, so we ended up traveling to and from the ice machine several times to keep our things cold.

Pros: Some construction going on but other than that it was perfect. It is off peak so I understand doing the construction now. The staff more than made up for any of that inconvenience though. Wish they had a shuttle service to Broadway at the Beach for shopping and entertainment. Great winter rates on ocean front suite. Would love to come back with the kids this summer.

Pros: The location was great and the woman working the front desk was nice.
Cons: This hotel has no affiliation with the known "Holiday Inn" chain of hotels. How they can call themselves a Holiday Inn is a travesty. Also, I was looking forward to swimming when I checked in only to find out that the pool area was closed for renovations upon my arrival. My room was messy and there was clumps of hair and used tissues on the counter in my bathroom. And there was no food or hotel bar onsite. Lastly, the hotel advertises itself as a 3-star when in reality, it's probably a 1-star.

Pros: The location was awesome. There was so much nearby and could walk which make the location an A+. The hotel sits right on the beach and all you have to do is walk out which makes going to the beach great. The staff was pleasant to work with and willing to explore questions about bill.

Cons: Manager seemed annoyed that we didn't book through the hotel. I paid over $100 during the off season to get a room with an ocean view and they were going to give us a 3rd floor view with possible palm trees in our way. They did end up giving us the 10th floor with a beautiful view. The room was clean and nice. The bed was very comfortable however the bathroom was very small. You had to straddle the toilet to close the door. The bath towels we scratchy, stiff and very small. They even took a $150 deposit on my credit card which was not disclosed when I booked our stay. Its a good thing wasn't on a super tight budget, that could put someone in a bind.

Pros: We had an oceanfront room that was big enough to accommodate our needs. My grandchildren and I loved the indoor pool, lazy river, and jacuzzi. The pool and lazy river really were very warm and perfect for having something to do together. The breakfast was just fine, like being at home. The staff was great and very welcoming.
Cons: The facility is a bit dated and needs some renovations. That didn't change our stay any so it was okay. There are no outlets for charging your devices at the pool area or bathrooms but we made it work.

Cons: We were there during spring break and it was very noisy late at night. We could hear the cars, loud radios, yelling until about 3 AM. I would recommend that make sure it's not spring break for college/high school kids when traveling to this location.

Pros: The hotel was very clean and well-appointed, and the staff was always cheerful and friendly. The free DVD rentals were great, and the hot breakfast buffet was delicious with pancakes, French toast, waffles, bacon, fresh fruit, etc. The room was not listed as an efficiency but did include a mini-fridge, microwave, and sink, which was a nice surprise. We were only there for a weekend, but I would definitely like to go back and stay longer.
Cons: The only small thing we found less than perfect was the parking garage across the street. The turns are very tight, and we could see where numerous cars had scraped the walls. Not the hotel's fault!

Pros: The hotel was close to the beach without being in the middle of ocean blvd and all its crowds and traffic.
Cons: The parking was inconvenient. You had to pay to park, and the garage was not directly connected to the hotel. You had to take the elevator down to the pedestrian walk way and walk around the hotel with all your luggage. It would have been nice to bring bags in during the check in process and then park after, but parking in front of the building was extremely limited. Although the room was nice and clean with a great view, I wouldn't say it was worth the price.

Pros: Our stay at the Sheraton was perfect. Although we booked on July 3, the rate via Kayak was affordable and cost us 197 compared to the 279 booking through Sheraton would've cost. The hotel is in close proximity to the oceanfront, restaurants, and Broadway at the Beach. So close in fact we were able to walk to the oceanfront and enjoy July 4th on the beach! The hotel staff were prompt, courteous, and accommodating. The room was clean and had an oceanview. It was great!
Cons: Well, Kayak is a third party, so you will need to secure payment and ensure the hotel has your reservation via Kayak's Customer Service Department. But they were accommodated and got us all squared away. I would definitely book through Kayak again.

Cons: The mattress on my bed was extremely caved-in in the middle of the bed. Obviously, t was not comfortable. We were told we could not change rooms, because the hotel was full. However, we were there Thursday through Sunday. The hotel was not at maximum capacity. I was attending a convention that had less than half of the expected attendees, and we were at the hotel all day and all night, the hotel was not full. Even the parking garage was not even close to be full.

The line was out the door. It took the staff nearly 20 minutes per guest to check them in. The room are very out dated. Looks like it belongs in 1980.

Pros: We only stayed here overnight, but the hotel was within walking distance to just about everything we wanted to see. The front desk was very nice, called to ensure the room was ok, and even got us a cab so we could go to the Pirate's Voyage without having to drive.

Pros: First of all, I would like to make it clear I can only review the section I stayed in, which was the "west tower" it is the smallest tower across the street. Over all the room was OK, it had random furniture kinda crammed wherever they could get it to fit. The kitchenette was nice, stove was older but actually very clean.BTW they expect you to wash whatever dishes you use before checking out. The staff all seemed very nice as well. I can stay I have stayed at much better hotels but I can also say I've stayed at worse. My issue however was the fact that although we parked in designated parking (we even had to fill out information about our car) our 30-day tags including the screws were stolen off of our brand new car. The night it happened I woke up in the middle of the night to a car alarm going off, it wasn't ours and I didn't see anyone so I figured someone must have bumped their keys. I know there was little to nothing Dayton House Resort could have done but they didn't even offer to knock money off of our room price. I'm sick of these myrtle beach hotels having designated parking but taking absolutely no responsibility for anything and Dayton House is one of them. My opinion......stay at your own risk.

Pros: My friends and I really enjoyed our stay. We had an oceanfront standard room with two queen sized beds, and the room was spacious enough for four adults. It was also very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the closeness to the beach, while also having the options of the pools, lazy river, and jacuzzis. The grassy picnic area is also a great place enjoy lunch or just sit in the shade while still enjoying a view of the ocean. The location is close enough to all the action of main part of Myrtle Beach, but just down the road a bit to not be crazy. The resort is very family friendly, but our group of ladies enjoyed it on our trip without kids. I would recommend Dayton House to anyone heading to Myrtle Beach!

Pros: The rooms were huge and comfy. We were right by the children's pool area, so I expected it to be loud, but it was not. The beach was great. We also enjoyed the Malibu beach bar and the entertainment at night. All of the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. I would stay there again.

Pros: Compass Cove is a great family resort! We did not have to leave the resort for anything. Me and my kids enjoyed the great beach and 22 water attractions on site for a full week. None of us wanted to go anywhere. The food was great and very reasonably priced. Staff was nice and elevatos were plentiful unlike what others had posted in their reviews. We will be visiting again.

Pros: On March 13th we arrived at 8 am after a 15 hour drive from MA. The gentleman upgraded our room free of charge in order for us to check in right away instead of waiting til 3 pm. That allowed is to slip in a nap so we could enjoy the sights around town.

Parking was a breeze, as it was directly across the street....but very tight to physically park due to the way it was designed.
Cons: Every inch of the building smelled like cigarettes / dirty ashtray. Breakfast at the restaurant didn't open until 7am. Part of the lobby was under draped under construction and never touched the 4 days / 3 nights I was there. In order to use a luggage cart, you were required to use a bell-man. The walls of the pool area were covered in very furry mold. One of the hot-tubs was cold and another was drastically low in water. Maid service was more than delayed. Some major police activity was going on in the hotel next door with no comment by hotel staff or administration - we had no idea whether it was safe or not, which was a concern given the large number of vehicles and policemen present. Recommendation -- Staff better and be more concerned about the quality of the hotel during your off-season....OR drastically reduce your prices to accommodate for the condition.

Pros: Upon check in I was hopeful that this place just might be our new beach hotel since our recent hotel of choice for the past 5 years had a bout of bed bugs. I was incredibly disappointed when I arrived to our room. If I could have found another hotel to stay at I would have at this point money was no object. The room was dingy and musty. The bed linens had stains and the curtains had holes in them big enough to let light through and wake you in the morning. I found two hair balls behind the bathroom door and one behind the shower door. The plastic cups on the counter in bathroom were wrapped in plastic which I thought was great until I picked one up and there was black dirt and a bug wing stuck to the bottom of it. Back to the bed concerns, the box springs had two large stains on the sides. I would like to plead ignorance is bliss and I will just assume the stains were from peoples' pets. The restaurant was horrific! We went to the breakfast buffet again trying to make the most of it. The new plates brought out for the buffet were covered in grits and food particles. After going through 5 dirty plates, we left and reported our findings to the front desk. She handed us a coupon for 10% off at Omega pancakes (which was wonderful) and gave us walking directions. We will never be back to such a place as this! I realize that most people may say, "well I'm not going to be in the room much" but trust me this hotel is on the bed bug registry and is pet friendly so I am sure they have fleas to contend with too! As a beach goer of 20+ years just stay someplace else.

Pros: I've stayed at Patricia Grand Resort several times prior to this, and on holidays (i.e Christmas 2013). It seemed that the resort was not dealing well with the larger than usual influx of guests during the New Year holiday. Some of the cleaning staff appeared unkempt and unprepared, making it hard for me to want them to clean our room. However, upon arrival, the rooms were clean and the amount of money we paid was definitely worth the stay.

The hallway from elevator to your room is not enclosed (you get wet when it rains and it was windy). And be aware of the hidden resort and parking fees which is over $40 a day.

I booked 2 identical rooms and both were different from one another. Tvs were dated, bathrooms were too small. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom and a missing light fixture. Maintenance handed me a curtain to put up myself and as far as the light fixture...maintainance told me they are beginning to phase them out of the rooms. Finally parking was very difficult.

Pros: The convenience of it.
Cons: The rooms were a bit stuffy. They should have rooms closer to the indoor pool for families with handicap members with them. We were put on the furthurist end of the buildings from the indoor pool. So my daughter with Cerebral palsy never was able to walk that far to the pool.

Pros: We have stayed at several different hotels the last couple months and this hotel was the cleanest by far. Very comfortable room and no worries about bugs. Good wifi. Housekeepers were very nice. It's right next to an entrance to the beach.

Pros: The location! The room size for a great price! Oceanfront. Kitchenette. Jetted tub. Balcony. What more do you need?! Half mile walk to the boardwalk. Next to a lovely pierhouse restaurant. I admit I was unsure about this place due to the negative reviews but I was SURPRISED at how wonderful the staff and room were.

Pros: Staff was great location even greater can't complain about the service I received they were wonderful people and the location was beautiful but that is about all they have going for them
Cons: Filthy that's the only word I can think of the pool both inside and outside was horrible there were people in the next-door motel shouting and yelling we could not sleep next-door there is a crack motel drunks all hours of the night street si drunks all hours of the night street side everything needs upgraded everything needs painted I could've paid $15 more and stayed in a better place had i known there is a plus no bedbugs I checked the mattresses with my flashlight before I even set my purse down and linens but if you're looking for a cheap price this is the place but if you're looking for nice clean and updated you are in the wrong motel!

Cons: My friend was attached. We filed a police report and notified the hotel. She was attached in a hallway going back to the room. There was camera's so hopefully the policy can identify him and put his picture out there. This was a terrible thing that happened and my friend or no one deserves that. It took forever for the police to show up. Be aware- you are not safe anywhere.

Pros: I liked how close the hotel was to the beach and local bar. Also the staff was very nice and helpful.
Cons: I hated the parking garage and cleanliness. The ramp was steep at a 45 degree angle (it was scary, we couldn't see driving up). The clearance was only 6ft so beware if you are going to drive a truck. The shower head was 5ft tall so even I had to bend over to wash my head (I'm 5'3"). Toilet was disgusting and sink would never shut off (constantly dripped). Only one lightbulb worked in our bedroom so it was very dark. But overall only $80 a night ocean front it's not horrible.

Cons: They have roaches. Hot water takes forever to heat up. Didn't like the beds. They would flatten as soon as you sat down on it it was like sleeping on mountain trying not to fall off. If u have the bed to urself its not bad.

Cons: Room was extremely dirty and smelled. Balcony railing on the 8th floor was loose. Parking garage looked like it was going to fall over. Just an overall dirty place. We had a guy tell us he was giving away free money standing in front of the hotel and asked where we were staying, what we were doing there, when we were going to be in our room. Not a good place at all. Bathroom was a disgrace.
